I, too, stood anxiously at the starting gate when this game originally launched on the PS4. The hype for it in full swing and making me quake with excitement, then... it released. sad trumpet noises It was, to be very honest(and blunt), boring and unentertaining. Fast forward and the Switch 1 version of the game was released and went on sale for a price I was willing to pay for re-entry to this now potential-filled game. Many hours into it I realized that this is what it should have been all along, the hype train for it's original release was actually boasting about what it would grow into and boy has it grown!
Now, with the S2 Free update, it makes it have parity between other versions and now implements mp with other platforms. Well worth the entry price and now filled to the brim with fun content that will bring you back for more.
Welcome Tour has been surprisingly informative, but almost all of the "micro-games" are mouse based, or at least most of them. I enjoy the demos and the variations in them. It's a great way to get to know the ins and outs of the system without fully tearing it down yourself. It's fun and informative, but maybe not for everyone since it is a lot of reading and younger players may not be able to read everything it provides. Just my thoughts so far.
I'm excited to jump back in to Night City on my Switch 2, also excited that cross save is available for this. That's gonna make for some fun replay and I am really looking forward to playing the expansion.
Anybody else, notice that ARMS is one of the game cards that has been present in every Switch 2 Carrying case video? Seems like it might be a tell for another title in the series for Switch 2. Just what I think on that.
@Zyph I still don't get the negativity around game key cards. This is the same thing that disc based games have been doing for years now. They sell you an idea of a game on disc and then you have to download the entire game to your system. The down side to them is having to insert them just to play a downloaded game, but with disc based "game key discs" (if we are being real about this) you have to do the same thing. Not as prominent on the PS5, since you get a base and broken copy of the game "on disc", but still have to download the rest of the game and have the disc inserted to play said game, that is downloaded to your console. I'd rather just get the digital version and not have to carry the key around with me. It allows for resale of "digital" games, not really a bad thing, or a way to allow people to borrow digital games without being in your family group for Nintendo Online.
I feel like there is a lot more bother about the Game Key Cards than is really needed. I'll be getting Wild Hearts S in digital format anyway, so not a big problem for me.
Love having a massive library of games with me on the go without having to switch game cards in and out.
But, that is my personal preference and my view of the whole Game Key Card issue. Take it or leave it, not a big deal to me.
@Zyph I guess we will have to wait and find out about the player base. I mean it's original release was in 2023, but with this new console we may see a large online player base of newcomers. Let's hope!
@Zyph I got this on discount a while back and it isn't terrible, but definitely don't expect it to be familiar due to your MonHun experience. I'm a huge MH fan and Wild Hearts takes a little while longer to get the hang of the controls, which I found very unintuitive... so, just go ahead and plan to customize them from the get go, especially if you are used to MH controls. Other than that, the opening "tutorial" is a bit of a slog. It's a fun break from the MH formula with interesting little things like the ability to build structures mid battle to get advantages in a battle.
@karatekid1612 Sometimes what the consumer sees as P*** poor planning is actually brilliant planning and marketing. Build the hype, keep initial stock availability low, keep the hype machine turning, make money hand over fist by keeping your supplies "limited" in order to drag out the "launch window"... basically it keeps the item in a state of "perpetual launch" much longer than the actual launch period.
@Kingchin Yes, nintendo did sell the original 3ds at a loss and also lowered the retail price by almost $100 within 6 months of its release. There are plenty of resources online that will validate and confirm this, aside from those I was an early adopter of the 3ds and went through the whole rigamarole they presented us with when they decided to drop the price.
They called it the "Ambassadors Program".
Just a quick comment of my 2 cents on the cost we (in the US) will probably be seeing, unless Nintendo can garner some deal with the US trade commission and negotiate specialized allowances. Nintendo has done what they can to keep the price of the Switch 2 down (Nevermind what all the humbuggers continue to say) to the $450 - $500+taxes price range, which really is a good price. But, if the truth is that they really didn't even think about the impending tariffs and adjust the price to reflect this, then we can most likely expect the price to rise to between $550-$650US. At that price, using estimation of import and shipment costs and the 46% tariff imposed on Vietnam, they would still potentially be losing on each unit sold, not that they couldn't assimilate those losses pretty easily and still come out on top... I mean they did that with the 3DS originally and still made plenty of money. While this is NOT ideal, this is a normal practice in most places. Don't misinterpret what I'm writing, I don't like it, but it isn't unusual for certain items to have differing costs in different countries depending on the taxes and duties imposed by a given country.
Again, this is just my thought. If Nintendo decides to NOT lose money on each unit then we will see a price point of closer to $750US. Hard reality.
They could come up with some very fine-tuned description of the items that would allow for a lower tax duty, but I won't expect to see the console for less than $550US right now.
@Ryu_Niiyama Nah, I didn't feel attacked. Text can often be misinterpreted, in tone. But I understood what you were saying.
Never felt that you explained poorly, I just can't grasp the idea of pride in a disability. I have a slight disability, due to an accident as a child, and I don't like it or have any pride in it, so that just baffles the heck out of me.
Your perspective is very intriguing to me, due in no small part to how I view my own disability.
I think I got your tone, mine might have come off as coarse or taking slight offense... I really didn't mean them to be that way. I can be direct and dry, sometimes, that often comes off as boorish and is usually unintentional.
Hope you have a great day and I hope you really do enjoy the game once you get to play it!
@Ryu_Niiyama never said they couldn't have one thing. Just posted a statement of something that was said in regards to this game.
Glad that you find strength and camaraderie in your disability and I hope that you enjoy this game once it is released.
Also, you make decent points in regards to "pandering". Marketing is absolutely pandering in a very directed format and there is the Uber rich utopia BS shows, they are just presented as "reality shows".
@Ryu_Niiyama I fully get your perspective and understand the draw of representation in games, which doesn't de-legitimize the statement made.
Good for Nintendo including representation for all sorts of people, not sure that the point of a video game is to live with the same disability that you live with on a daily basis... always felt that it is an escape from the drawbacks of reality, not an extension of it. This might just be me though.
Again, I understand how you embrace your situation and am amazed at your enthusiasm for maintaining your disability even within games, I do not embrace my limited disability as you do, but I never really run towards denigrating others for how they see themselves and others like them, hopefully that is apparent... maybe it isn't.
Next thing that I would ask; is this representation doing anything to help those that it is representing? Bringing awareness to something is more pandering than anything else and while it can make a slightly positive impact on those that rarely ever feel seen in our daily world, does it actually make their plight into something that will benefit people like them moving forward, or is it truly just pandering and capitalizing on their desire to "be seen"?
@SoIDecidedTo i still play arms, but rarely online. Everyone online uses the pro controller and not motion controls. They are faster and more responsive to do what you need to in order to win. The characters all being able to use variations of the exact same gloves is still a bit dumb to me, but there are some that are specific to certain characters. But those are a pain to acquire in game as you have to play through the story a thousand time to get coins to buy a chance to break targets and get gloves as prizes.
@Koffeeking0407 someone said to me, "why would they do that? People in wheelchairs DON'T want to be in wheelchairs." Im hopeful that we will see something akin to a tank based game, or even a mt climbing game that uses this functionality.
Are we REALLY going back to this DONUT(Pachter) and his "predictions" about anything Nintendo??? Honestly, if you actually calculate for inflation (disregard the possible cushioning for Tariffs) Then the OG Switch, today, would cost $389US. Then the OLED would cost $410US. Let's all go ahead and accept that the cost of a new console is usually higher than the cost of the last generation of consoles... not cheaper.
The difference is only noticed in handheld mode and, with the upgrades to LCD displays in that last 8 years, this is more of a moot point than ever. It was a needed upgrade from OG switch to OLED, but after using and playing my PS Portal I'm convinced that OLED isn't 100% needed in order to have a beautiful game displayed and played on capable hardware using LCD displays.
I've played it on PS4, PS5, and steamdeck, so I guess this is gonna be close to the Steamdeck variation and I will Quadruple dip with this game! I enjoyed every minute of playing this game and look forward to another foray into Night City and I didn't play the DLC at all, in the hopes that this would come to Switch 2... I am not disappointed in that decision. Hope it does well and brings more people to 'The City' to enjoy all it has to offer.
I enjoyed the 1st game on Switch, this one looks to expand, GREATLY, on the foundation that game laid and visually looks far more interesting that DxM1. Looking forward to this, although I thought for half a second that this was going to be a sequel to Vanquish by Platinum Games.
Anyone else remember this on the DS and how they barely ever used it on that system? Let's hope that it is used more liberally this gen and not used only for screen space filling on the main menu.
I genuinely belly-laughed when they said, "we are going to charge for this tech demo/guide download." Buffoonery!
Also, not sure that the "excitement" of playing 3 on 3 wheelchair based basketball game hit me like I feel they intended that reveal to hit... like at all. Don't get me wrong, its great to see that being a showcase but not really a system seller right there. Maybe a game that uses the mouse functionality as the controls on a tank or mech would have been a little more attention grabbing.
This could be a very bad idea on Nintendo's part, I say this because the potential for piracy by just modding a "game key-card" seems like a better option for piracy. Not saying this is something that will, or should/could, be done but it seems like the gateway to S2 modding imo.
I don't think they should have focused so much on group chat as a "big 'new' thing" since it has been around, on every console except Nintendo's, for a while now. Other than that is was good, not great. Duskbloods has me interested.
@Daniel36 Definitely understand why you say this if 2 is what you tried first. Not a good intro to the series. Also, if you are thinking that you will be playing an Action/Adventure RPG the gameplay in battles can be a bit off-putting. They really just aren't for everybody, but that is all video games.
I have played through Astral Chain like 5 times and would absolutely love to see a sequel, even if it is on Switch 2... I'll take it! I take all of this with a grain of salt though, since there have been a few Platinum games that were great and never got any sequels. I will wait patiently and allow this hope to drift again to the recesses of my mind.
Yes, given about 40 years of games, marketing, toys, clothing, and even theme parks anything could potentially "Rival Mario"... but Banjo Kazooie, that's what you're gonna bet on??? Gotta love the underdog, but I have no love for the BK franchise, it just never clicked with me.
Honestly, I'm glad they finally pulled it from behind Nintendo's Iron Curtain and showed it to us, but I was NOT expecting the actual Direct showcasing it to be in April... seems like maybe they just (last 6 months) got done finalizing some details and really weren't going to show us anything in January until all the 3rd party leaks forced their hand. I'm sure we will begin to hear from some devs, sans juicy details, that they are working to bring a (yet unannounced title) to the switch 2. Then in April we will see their games in the Direct showcase.
While I dislike waiting so long for them to announce it won't be available until holiday 2025 for purchase, causing scalpers to have a field day, I am happy to see the final design and excited for what's to come. I'm fine with them going full on iteration route instead of some VR/AR/Wiimote device this gen.
What if it's just a new placmentt for the screenshot button
Edit: I noticed the screenshot button still in place on the other controller. Maybe it's just like the light ring around the home button on the original switch... something to have just in case they want it.
@Paulo Honestly, it kinda does since BC is a big deal for a lot of players with backlogs (myself included). But in the Switch reveal trailer they showed BotW, Skyrim (old gen even in 2017), MK8 (Wii U game - previous gen), some NBA game (most likely closer to prior gen build), Mario:Odyssey, and Splatoon 2. So, for them to show current gen, or HD remake games with the reveal, wouldn't be anything new and could also get those that want to be able to continue chipping away at their backlog (me & lots of other ppl) it is always a nice thing to showcase, but in no way should it be the main focus of a reveal.
We all want to see what this new machine can do and how it offers us something "new" for us to get excited about it and want to jump on board and buy one. Better graphics, is NOT all that they need to show us.
Personal prediction here, we might see some previously xbox exclusive titles that have never been off the platform, being played in the reveal, or in the follow up direct.
@Paulo or, they could announce it and show DKCRHD running on the device and get hype for the full backwards compatibility, while showing off up and coming new software. Right now they are just gonna show something to quiet the din of the rumor mill. It's starting to get loud in here.

Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
Re: Switch 2's Rumoured 'C' Button Isn't Actually A 'C' Button
Could be a calibration button for the rumored "mouse-like" feature of the controller.
Re: Switch 2's Rumoured 'C' Button Isn't Actually A 'C' Button
What if it's just a new placmentt for the screenshot button
Edit: I noticed the screenshot button still in place on the other controller. Maybe it's just like the light ring around the home button on the original switch... something to have just in case they want it.
Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday
Still waiting on this to become reality... probably not gonna get a reveal this week, at least not on Thursday.
Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday
Keep your eyes peeled.
Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday
@MasterGraveheart Here is the actual article quoting Shuntaro Furukawa noting that it will be fully backwards compatible with Switch games. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2024/11/its-official-switch-2-will-be-backwards-compatible
Not any kind of rumor at this point.
Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday
@Paulo or, they could announce it and show DKCRHD running on the device and get hype for the full backwards compatibility, while showing off up and coming new software. Right now they are just gonna show something to quiet the din of the rumor mill. It's starting to get loud in here.
