@JaxonH I didn't see the owl bit which Iis a good enough addition and if the maps are like World, which it appears they are, then it will most likely be helpful. Honestly, I just can't wait to play this game!
@Dm9982 Remote play with Vita will never work that well, lol... I spent a LOT of time trying to get my whole setup configured and it is just not ideal for streaming playing unless you are playing PvZ or something akin to that. Using PS Remote play via a Laptop and a PS4 controller works pretty well though and I feel your pain with the TV being real estate owned solely by my kids... lol. Good luck!
@JaxonH I would like to see the use of Paintballs for tracking still and get rid of most of the bug systems from World... those really tainted the experience for me. It makes the hunt that much more tense if you can lose track of the monster and have to search again for the darn thing, allowing it time to regain it's composure and strength, which then elongates the battle. I dunno maybe I'm just a whiner, but if it worked why change it? I understand world was meant to bring new players into the fray, but the option to use classic style hunting (not regarding the map sections) and easy (noob bugs and the like) then it would have a been a better all around experience. Beautiful game, just some bad execution. I haven't tried Iceborne, I have it just haven't dived in... I will give it a try on your reccomendation.
@asdf0987 From the looks of it, with the use of the wirebug system it will allow any weapon to be used akin to the insect glaive... which is a very mobile weapon that allows multiple different types of attack, defense, and aerial.
@SwitchForce Thanks for sharing the video! A good explanation video. This is something I learned while developing a few years back. It is a despicable practice and it is leaking over into the "physical" versions of games as well, due in no small part to the need for a day one patch or perpetual updates... this is how they enforce their EULA with physical titles.
@Slowdive I agree with you about saying "No" to complete corporate ownership, but you must note that a LOT of modern games require you to sign (or agree to) some type of EULA and in most of those it notes that the company itself has the right to take back "their game"(in essence)... this is even present on many disc/cart based titles cough All EA titles today cough
So the real issue is how do we, as the consumers, get viable ownership of a title that we purchase - or believe that we have purchased? As it currently stands we are all just putting quarters in an arcade cabinet that resides in our homes, we get to play the game, but just like in an arcade it still doesn't truly belong to you.
Kinda disappointing and brings in a large amount of politics and consumer rights issues, but nobody seems to be listening or thinking of it in that manner. As long as the corporate beast is fed and we pay our dues, we can play as long as we like.
@sanderev True they are more open to it, especially after seeing the success of VG series turned TV Series, i.e. Castlevania and The Witcher. But from all the articles surrounding the Super Mario Movie, it seems that they are still a bit trepidatious since they are having Miyamoto personally oversee the upcoming title. Seems like they still aren't totally convinced, which is a shame, because we need a Metroid movie/Series.
Here's to hoping they release their iron grip and allow some creative freedom with their beloved IPs.
@sanderev They were supposedly in talks, Netflix + Nintendo, to do a Zelda series earlier this year... but that kinda vanished, or Nintendo did the old "just the tip" and then ran away with their IP snuggled tightly to their chest, leaving netflix to wonder what the hell just happened. Honestly, Nintendo green-lighting that Mario brothers movie abomination years ago has really made them gun-shy about letting anyone use their IPs outside of video games, save "Wreck It Ralph's" use of Bowser.
@tourjeff Exactly! The hybrid concept is WHY it has excelled. Pachter is a troglodyte and all of his ramblings should be dismissed as the rantings of a lunatic... period.
The art style owes a debt to BotW, but aside from that it is it's own game and I am enjoying it thoroughly. It is relaxing, but can be a bit intense when you are on the brink of death and need food quickly. Great survival/crafting game!
So, what ppl are saying is that since they don't actually have any stake in Image & Form, as a company, nor do they work for them or make business decisions, then they should listen to you about ONE game that will be exclusive to another platform??? ONE game, in their library of great games - available on multiple platforms - isn't coming to Switch and we all need to hate them?!?! Even going so far as to lump them in with EA and their ilk??? Wow, their are some real whiners around and I honestly hope you don't ever get what you want in the world of gaming, because you can never be satisfied. Now, am I bummed that it isn't coming to the Switch, sure... but I understand what making an exclusive game entails and how going with a partner that is excited about what you are making and is helping you to advertise it can be a huge help. After all, developers aren't in it for the charity work, this is their livelihood and it is extremely selfish of any gamer to think that they are owed anything from a developer just because they enjoy their games... that's just silly.
I played the original and it was great in the 90's... it came out around the time of the original wolfenstien and duke nukem (before he went 3D, when he was still in sidescrollers). It brings back a lot of VGA monitor games memories to see this. lol
@Bret SuperHot VR is a totally separate game from SuperHot, but I agree with you that it is one of the best VR experiences out right now. I would love to see some DLC for the VR version, since it is pretty short.
I was super excited to play MHW, even though I already had MHGU on both 3DS and Switch, but in the end... I ended up not even playing MHW half as much as MHGU. After the Franchise went mobile on 3DS, it just didn't make sense to play it on a home console, I'm not sure why but that's just my feelings about it. I really don't want to see another MHW game, but would like to see another MH: Stories on switch as well as a new core entry on switch.
@ncb1397 Yeah, I realized my error in my post(my bad), but still I enjoy the portability on the switch and I'm more than willing to show them, via purchase, that I want their titles on my Switch. If PS hadn't dropped the ball with the Vita then that would have been where I bought it, alas... they abandoned the Vita.
I've played them all in multiple formats and Im still getting two copies of this for switch. To show support for titles like this on switch and so that my son and I can play through them all together! It seems like an underhanded tactic to undermine sales for the switch version in order to justify something with shareholders and keep them in the black while eliminating the Switch as a monetarily viable platform to continue publishing games on... maybe that makes sense typed out, like it did in my head.
Seriously, I think we all might be grasping at straws with this one. I would love to see a new direct, with something other than AC:H and something pointing toward the Future for the Switch and possibly MP4.
I got my switch day one and it is still my go to console. With kids, family, owning and running my own business and all manner of other things that limit "game time"; its "on the go or at home" playability has proven the best thing for my gaming desires. I have fixed more joy cons than I care to mention, but that isn't terrible. I really just want MP4 at this point!
And if you didn't know what that was for then you probably have never had a smart phone or tablet device at all, since it looks exactly like a light sensor on any of those types of devices. LOL... thanks nintendo!
@Yorumi I hope that temtem doesn't turn trashbags and keyrings into monsters, that move by GF literally made my head hurt. It is hard for me to get excited to see a chandelier as a "Monster" or a teacup, or anything of that ilk... they just seem unimaginative about some of their design choices and I want to see pkmn become something better at this point. Healthy competition is needed. You can't remain on top by pandering and not evolving.
@Yorumi Fair enough. I read it more as a question of forward compatibility than backwards, but I just re-read it and see what you are saying. Honestly, the whole franchise is getting a bit stale and they need something like TemTem or Monster Rancher to come onto the playing field to make them rethink some of their strategies.
I am looking forward to giving TemTem a try on the switch! I love to see developers jump into the monster collection/fighting genre and this game has had my interest for quite a while. It would be nice to have it become a long-running franchise like pokemon and bring some healthy competition to the genre.
@Yorumi I actually didn't bring up "backwards compatibility" I brought up "forward compatibility" and I'm no expert. I haven't really noticed any performance issues with my copy of Sword, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough? You are obviously very passionately against the most recent pokemon games and I understand that, they have been extremely divisive, but I am enjoying them so far. Would I have liked the whole game to be more polished? Yes, the textures in places look like something from an N64, but it hasn't affected my enjoyment of the title.
I respect your opinion and the myriad of other fans that hold a similar and same opinion, but I am still enjoying the game for what it is... a new addition to a franchise I've enjoyed for years.
@Yorumi surely, as a game dev with 10 years experience, you can understand the reasoning behind either cutting parts, or just delaying them? When making a game, even if you are a AAA studio, you are still a slave to factors such as money, hardware constraints, time constraints and creative reasoning about what a title needs and does not need. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I've only made a handful of small games and I've done it by myself, but I also have been disappointed by what I could and could not include in my titles, so the disappointment for the developers as well as the fans is present in every aspect of game dev.
@Yorumi Actually it references even bringing already made models to new hardware and the differences that would inevitably be present, it never said it was impossible, just a task that might be hindered by time constraints and initial funding given to the title. I never said they didn't have the money for it, but perhaps didn't have the money for it to be done within the time constraints that were set forth by Nintendo's release schedule for the game. I don't really give a care about whether or not the nationaldex is in any pkmn game going forward, but that's just my opinion.
@Aeleron0X Loved the article! Thanks for sharing. I knew that there was a ton of work put into the nationaldex, but after reading the amount of work for each pkmn I understand why they made the decision not to include it. Also, they could have just not had enough time and money to add all of the nationaldex before release, so they will be releasing it in parts via DLC stories and areas.
I would love to touch on the "Switch tax" as it is being called. I find it funny that we will all pay upwards of $70 for games, new on certain platforms, but start to gripe when they ask a price similar to that for the game on the switch. I don't feel like it is a "Tax" but having to account for the cost of releasing a game physically and porting it to a console that some people might prefer to play on. If you don't want it on Switch, don't buy it...but please, don't harrass the developers and publishers for trying to amertize the cost of bringing it to another group of gamers that may not have played it before on another console.
I find myself with less and less time to sit on the couch in front of my PS4/XB1 or even in front of my PC just to play a game. The portability is a huge part for me! Games that I know will never appear on the Switch, I get on the PS4, but for the most part my "Home" consoles gather dust. If the "Switch Pro" version of the hardware launches in the future then I can confidently say that I will most likely not be playing much of my other consoles at all, but this is just my opinion and preference. I have double dipped on almost every game that has been released by third parties and I look forward to all of the wonderful new games that keep coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch console.
@Mr_Muscle lmao... my "too high horse", probably wanna learn those old adages and how they are worded. I wasn't shrieking, I was stating my opinion, again "MY OPINION" not anyone else's, about those that are shrieking and about the fact that this, ultimately, is an argument over assets of a video game and people complaining about something that should not impact their day to day lives enough to garner this kind of animosity. These are games meant to be enjoyed by all people regardless of whether or not they are reusing old assets, or just updating them. Have we gotten so off course that we can't just be excited to play a new game? Or do we all have to be so overly opinionated that companies disdain even bringing a new game to market? I wasn't trying to add to the din of the internet's shriek, but whenever anyone posts online that is what it becomes. Oh well. Have a nice day!
Interesting that me, as a pkmn fan and player from day one, gives not a sh** about there being no national pokedex in this game, nor do I care that the models aren't all "brand-new-rebuilt-from-the-ground-up-with-that-new-pokemon-smell". These seem like trivial things to be whining about! Is this not a game built for ppl to play and have fun with? Or is this some socio-political device that all of the video game SJWs need to complain about? Get over it and play, or don't play, the game... in the end your internet screeching will hold little to no sway over the final product.
@Glassneedles First off... 360 Mode?!?!?! I'm slacking on keeping up with what that is and now I must find out more! Next, they could do the control of the sabers fairly simply, using a relational space pointer setup akin to world of goo for switch. I agree that the translation of it outside of vr would deteriorate the experience though. That game is made entirely for vr, but there are a few games that are VR games that made the transition to switch and work really well. Honestly, it is up to the talent of the developer as to whether or not they could make their game transition from vr to switch.
@Glassneedles I feel like it could be done in a more "guitar hero" manner, which kind of deflates the entire experience that Beat Saber try's to deliver on.
@Torakaka Actually, the PS4 version could NOT add songs from your PC or CDs, that was the PC version and a separate program that you make tracks for the game with... unless I've missed something about it since I got it day one on PSVR. Now, there are 2-3 song packs you can get, but you cannot add your own music to the PSVR version.

Re: Pokémon Fans Get '#GameFreakLied' Trending As Sword And Shield Drama Intensifies Yet Again
Re: Studio Behind The Hit VR Game Beat Saber Shows Interest In Developing For Switch
Re: Studio Behind The Hit VR Game Beat Saber Shows Interest In Developing For Switch
@Glassneedles I feel like it could be done in a more "guitar hero" manner, which kind of deflates the entire experience that Beat Saber try's to deliver on.
Re: Studio Behind The Hit VR Game Beat Saber Shows Interest In Developing For Switch
Re: You Can Now Get Switch Joy-Con Inspired By The GameCube Controller
Oh cool a gamecube themed Joy con that's unusable as an attached joy con... seems worth it.
