Re: Kirby Air Riders Direct Revealed for Tomorrow, 19th August 2025

Unit_DTH

I enjoyed the original on the GCN, but it didn't feel like it had THAT much content. This is not a complaint, I'm just curious what we are gonna get with this one being longer than both the MKW and DK:B Directs combined!

I'm looking forward to this being overloaded with info, but it feels like this may be a "Developer's update" with some backstory about why this franchise is being revived, with a fair amount of actual gameplay as well as some story info and I'm almost certain that we will see that the release date for this is Either September, or delayed until 2026 - "So please, be patient and wait just a little bit longer."

Whatever the case this should be fun!

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Drag x Drive?

Unit_DTH

I've not bought the game, even though it literally launched to the bargain bin, but I did play some of the "Global Jam" and will say, the controls worked well, but after about 20 minutes of playing and going through the tutorial I was just flat out bored and have no interest in going any further with this title. I also realize that not every game is for every person and my opinion of that game should NOT sway anyone from enjoying it if they do.

That said, it isn't for me and I will not be voting since I didn't buy the full game and that seems like an unfair vote to make.

It looks very boring from a distance and proved to be that for me. I do hope to see something more exciting utilize the control scheme, I feel like it could work well for some type of mech game, or even a game that uses tanks as the main mode of transport. Just not the constant back and forth motion, it didn't feel great just tiring.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The Switch 2's Next Exclusive 'Drag x Drive'?

Unit_DTH

Played the global jam tutorial, almost all the way through and that was more than enough for me. It worked well enough but there is no longevity or replay in it for me. The controls were fine, if not a bit tricky to get used to, but I really don't see myself dedicating any time to get "adept" at the controls and I didn't even want to play online.

Re: Reaction: Switch 2 Needed A Partner Showcase With Pep; This Wasn't It

Unit_DTH

MHS3 and Cronos look good, but the majority of titles shown are 2026 releases... so, it seems not so "direct". Also, my mouth was agape that they even wasted any time on the campfire dreck.
While I could complain more, and I won't, it just felt rushed and like a placeholder of a direct that didn't bring a whole lot to the table for S2 at all.

Re: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase Announced For Tomorrow, 31st July 2025

Unit_DTH

I feel like a fair bit of the 25 minutes is going to be used for giving us actual release dates for Elden Ring, FF7:Insert subtitle here, and maybe something more concrete about the FromSoftware game, but I have much hope for some "available later today" type of announcements for the S2, probably not much info about S1 games aside from maybe some parity releases for indie titles like Silksong.

Re: Review: Patapon 1+2 Replay (Switch) - A Pleasing Return For Some PSP Charmers

Unit_DTH

@Warioware Not sure why so many people are having issues with latency, I have yet to have this issue in either handheld or TV mode. 4K HDR TV with no issues of latency. But I did do some tinkering with all of my video settings on my S2 after the HDR settings looked like trash. NL posted a very helpful video a while back about this and there are a couple of other TV Mode settings that I tinkered with before ever playing Patapon and maybe that is why I haven't endured the latency issues.

Re: iFixit Performs A Full Teardown Of Nintendo's "P**s-Poor" Pro Controller

Unit_DTH

Wow, they dislike that fixing it is difficult. You mean in the era of "everything is expendable and replaceable" it upsets people that something isn't easy to fix? The horror. Their complaints are just personal dislikes, the ps5 and xb series controllers have their own tear down issues, so did the s1 pro controller. I've never experienced a single issue with any nintendo pro controller from Wii U to S2, so this seems like a non-issue.

Re: Talking Point: One Month On, How Did Nintendo's Switch 2 Launch Go?

Unit_DTH

Im in the minority on this, it seems, but i play mine 99% in handheld mode. The battery life is good enough for me and I couldn't care less about game key cards. They are fine imo. Its better than a code in a box and allows me to let people borrow the games without any virtual game card stuff as well as resale. Im thoroughly happy with the console, I just want more switch 2 exclusives to be announced and shown. Feels like it launched and now there is an information drought.

Re: Video: Right, We Need To Talk About GameChat On Switch 2

Unit_DTH

I love how unique it is, but it has a major drawback. I dislike the part where it makes the play area smaller just so it can house the boxes for other's being in the chat. Why? Maybe I'm stupid, but not being able to just make the play area full screen while still being able to chat is obnoxious.

Re: Review: No Man's Sky - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Hello Games' Classic Without Cuts Or Concessions

Unit_DTH

I, too, stood anxiously at the starting gate when this game originally launched on the PS4. The hype for it in full swing and making me quake with excitement, then... it released. sad trumpet noises It was, to be very honest(and blunt), boring and unentertaining. Fast forward and the Switch 1 version of the game was released and went on sale for a price I was willing to pay for re-entry to this now potential-filled game. Many hours into it I realized that this is what it should have been all along, the hype train for it's original release was actually boasting about what it would grow into and boy has it grown!

Now, with the S2 Free update, it makes it have parity between other versions and now implements mp with other platforms. Well worth the entry price and now filled to the brim with fun content that will bring you back for more.

Here's to No Man's Sky and its amazing longevity!

Re: Switch 2 eShop "Top-Selling" Games At Launch Revealed

Unit_DTH

Welcome Tour has been surprisingly informative, but almost all of the "micro-games" are mouse based, or at least most of them. I enjoy the demos and the variations in them. It's a great way to get to know the ins and outs of the system without fully tearing it down yourself. It's fun and informative, but maybe not for everyone since it is a lot of reading and younger players may not be able to read everything it provides. Just my thoughts so far.

Re: 'Wild Hearts S' Switch 2 Release Detailed By Koei Tecmo

Unit_DTH

@Zyph I still don't get the negativity around game key cards. This is the same thing that disc based games have been doing for years now. They sell you an idea of a game on disc and then you have to download the entire game to your system. The down side to them is having to insert them just to play a downloaded game, but with disc based "game key discs" (if we are being real about this) you have to do the same thing. Not as prominent on the PS5, since you get a base and broken copy of the game "on disc", but still have to download the rest of the game and have the disc inserted to play said game, that is downloaded to your console. I'd rather just get the digital version and not have to carry the key around with me. It allows for resale of "digital" games, not really a bad thing, or a way to allow people to borrow digital games without being in your family group for Nintendo Online.

I feel like there is a lot more bother about the Game Key Cards than is really needed. I'll be getting Wild Hearts S in digital format anyway, so not a big problem for me.

Love having a massive library of games with me on the go without having to switch game cards in and out.

But, that is my personal preference and my view of the whole Game Key Card issue. Take it or leave it, not a big deal to me.

Re: 'Wild Hearts S' Switch 2 Release Detailed By Koei Tecmo

Unit_DTH

@Zyph I got this on discount a while back and it isn't terrible, but definitely don't expect it to be familiar due to your MonHun experience. I'm a huge MH fan and Wild Hearts takes a little while longer to get the hang of the controls, which I found very unintuitive... so, just go ahead and plan to customize them from the get go, especially if you are used to MH controls. Other than that, the opening "tutorial" is a bit of a slog. It's a fun break from the MH formula with interesting little things like the ability to build structures mid battle to get advantages in a battle.

Re: Switch 2 Launch Day Delivery "Not Guaranteed" From Nintendo In The US

Unit_DTH

@karatekid1612 Sometimes what the consumer sees as P*** poor planning is actually brilliant planning and marketing. Build the hype, keep initial stock availability low, keep the hype machine turning, make money hand over fist by keeping your supplies "limited" in order to drag out the "launch window"... basically it keeps the item in a state of "perpetual launch" much longer than the actual launch period.

Re: Nintendo Of America President Says Tariffs "Not Factored" Into Switch 2 Price

Unit_DTH

@Kingchin Yes, nintendo did sell the original 3ds at a loss and also lowered the retail price by almost $100 within 6 months of its release. There are plenty of resources online that will validate and confirm this, aside from those I was an early adopter of the 3ds and went through the whole rigamarole they presented us with when they decided to drop the price.
They called it the "Ambassadors Program".

Re: Nintendo Of America President Says Tariffs "Not Factored" Into Switch 2 Price

Unit_DTH

Just a quick comment of my 2 cents on the cost we (in the US) will probably be seeing, unless Nintendo can garner some deal with the US trade commission and negotiate specialized allowances. Nintendo has done what they can to keep the price of the Switch 2 down (Nevermind what all the humbuggers continue to say) to the $450 - $500+taxes price range, which really is a good price. But, if the truth is that they really didn't even think about the impending tariffs and adjust the price to reflect this, then we can most likely expect the price to rise to between $550-$650US. At that price, using estimation of import and shipment costs and the 46% tariff imposed on Vietnam, they would still potentially be losing on each unit sold, not that they couldn't assimilate those losses pretty easily and still come out on top... I mean they did that with the 3DS originally and still made plenty of money. While this is NOT ideal, this is a normal practice in most places. Don't misinterpret what I'm writing, I don't like it, but it isn't unusual for certain items to have differing costs in different countries depending on the taxes and duties imposed by a given country.

Again, this is just my thought. If Nintendo decides to NOT lose money on each unit then we will see a price point of closer to $750US. Hard reality.

They could come up with some very fine-tuned description of the items that would allow for a lower tax duty, but I won't expect to see the console for less than $550US right now.
