Re: Random: Zelda Fan Jailed For Carrying Small Master Sword Replica

Unit_DTH

@Not_Soos it sounds exactly like this:
https://minikatana.com/products/master-sword?_pos=1&_sid=40ca7c47a&_ss=r&variant=40691765379153

A mini replica of the Master Sword, they also have one that looks like the decayed MS from TotK. I have a couple of the AoT swords from this place and unless you are actually daft, they would NEVER be mistaken for an actual threatening weapon. I can hear the arresting officers now, "Ats a Reahl Sord, init? Arrest'im, he's a fret to Sociehtee!" UK officers saving people from themselves.

Re: Nightdive Studios' New Podcast Dives Into Upcoming Remaster Of 'The Thing'

Unit_DTH

Looking forward to this, but that was a slog to watch! No images of the remake, no video, not much substance other than the technical challenges and answers to the question, "Why remake this game?" or "Which game would you want to remaster?"
Not what I want to have to endure if you are talking about a game, show me the game... even if it is gameplay from the old version.

Re: Random: Aloy In Smash Bros.? 'LEGO Horizon' Dev Seems Up For It

Unit_DTH

@N8tiveT3ch Not totally untrue in what you said. But since the massive increase in digital only games "purchases", IPs have been able to move from platform to platform since the "purchaser" doesn't actually own anything and the company "selling" the games digitally have very low cost:income ratios, if they know how to monetize properly. This can open the flood gates for lots and lots of cross-over ip usage. In essence the contract you agree to when purchasing a digital agreement is so commonplace now that within the games industry these contracts are almost the same, speaking from limited experience in collaborative game making and working with other game devs to utilize and "showcase" their IPs. It isn't a long process to get approval, unless you are working with Nintendo and that requires blood sacrifices fort-nightly, oathes under blue moons and wearing only sheepskin undergarments for them to consider a collab.

Re: Round Up: Every Nintendo Switch Game We Played At Summer Game Fest 2024

Unit_DTH

I like the look of most of these, but am in no way intrigued or interested in the "UFO 50" ones. I have an NES, I had one the year after it came out. Last time I checked this is 2024, please stop with the unabashedly boring pixel art "retro" games. Not all retro games are worth emulating. Be original, as a lot of the above titles are, and bring stories to life in this medium, sans low-res pixel stuff. PLEASE!

Re: Random: Aloy In Smash Bros.? 'LEGO Horizon' Dev Seems Up For It

Unit_DTH

Perhaps the original Playstation (pre-actual Sony Playstation) and Nintendo console deal that "fell through" will remind everyone of the low possibility of Aloy being in Smash. Not to say I don't want her in there, because I certainly do. But other than this Lego crossover, they aren't the best of friends, Sony and Nintendo. If they can put aside their past differences, which this Horizon game may be the beginning of, then we could maybe see a better video game future where there are crossover character usages, but doubtful that we will EVER see Mario or his likeness appear in a Playstation game with consent from Nintendo. Just my thoughts on it.

Re: Rumour: Pokémon Leaker Suggests Gen 10 Games Are Coming In 2026

Unit_DTH

@Oppyz666 Hahahaha, yes, but not entirely. Continue to say "delusional", but the games (ScarVi) weren't given enough time baking in development to be released in a fully functional form on the Switch. Have they gotten "better" due to updates, sure, but not nearly to the point they should be. I have all of the games you listed and each of them has their own picadillos that cause hiccups during gameplay, loading, saving, online play, etc.
You completely missed the point of my post about the possibility of this "prediction" being correct. "Flawlessly", you say, no, not flawlessly at all. I made the statement based on my experiences with the games in question. Not enough dev time to consider them "finished titles".

Re: Rumour: Pokémon Leaker Suggests Gen 10 Games Are Coming In 2026

Unit_DTH

Ok, so let's just think about this for a second...
Scarlet and Violet Released in 2022 (The console they released on wasn't really powerful enough for what they released, so they have spent 2 years "fixing" them), The Switch came out in March of 2017 and the first actual new Gen Pkmn Games, Sword and Shield , was November of 2019 - 2 years after switch release. Switch2 is due to be announced later this year with a tentative release in early 2025. So, a 2026 Release for the new gen of pkmn games isn't a bad guess(Most Likely November to garner the highest volume of rapid sales during the holiday buying season). We will see interum games prior to the next gen in Legends Z and probably a Scarlet/Violet Updated Edition that runs far better than the current version for Switch1. These are just thoughts of mine based on past releases and not any "insider" knowledge. History repeats itself and the video game industry is not exempt from this.

Re: Nintendo Acknowledges That Successor Announcement May "Impact" Switch Sales

Unit_DTH

The only way that this Switch focused Direct is going to kill it, for me, is if we actually see MP4 as a holiday release. This would also mean that it could potentially be a dual release, see BoTW dual release, with the Switchºª2. I know this is probably as likely as receiving a nobel peace prize for starting a civil war, but it is what I want to see.

Re: Nintendo Has Filed Two New Trademarks

Unit_DTH

@Croctopus There are multiple ways this could work. In TV mode players could use the joy cons like they do in world of Goo, it Tabletop mode - same. Handheld mode would work with any capacitive stylus, these are very easy to find at almost any store that sells electronics, or they would include one in a physical version akin to Brain Age for the Switch, or if they really want to go nuts in Handheld mode they could use a stylus like the one for Colors Live - doubt they would go that route though. There is even a nintendo branded capacitive stylus https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Touch-Pen-Japan/dp/B07YL4KGWZ/ref=asc_df_B07YL4KGWZ?tag=bngsmtphsnus-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80333185695337&hvnetw=s&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=m&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583932714687469&psc=1

Re: Biomutant Finally Secures A Release Date On Switch

Unit_DTH

@Chaotic_Neutral That was the first thing I looked at, the price.
I'm glad they realize what they are selling and NOT being delusional about selling a 3-yo game at a $60 price tag... which was too high for it when it originally released. Cool game, just a lot of vacant landscape.

Re: Yes, Nintendo Is Aware Of Palworld's Existence

Unit_DTH

@HeadPirate Oh no, it did get less fun and that is my opinion.
I enjoyed Sword and Shield and Arceus, but The two latest entries just totally derailed the pokemon train.

I'm not looking for "more complex experiences", I'm an adult, with children (both teenage and young), I couldn't find time for more complex experiences if I wanted to. I just want to see actual innovation with the pokemon franchise and a 180 from the lazy, boring designs of most new additions to the 'dex.

Re: Yes, Nintendo Is Aware Of Palworld's Existence

Unit_DTH

@Metazoxan Of course you disagree with "almost everything" I've said and you are free to do that.

That's fine, you're entitled to your opinions about the whole situation and I don't have to agree with anything that you say either.

The fact that you took me saying it gives "Variety" as me saying they are innovative shows how little you actually read what I wrote and made an assumption based on your dislike of my viewpoint, which is entirely mine and I wrote it down to give myself a type of release from the inner scream that the comment section, and article, have started.

Palworld isn't innovative, but neither is pokemon at this point.

For the record, pkmn Black and White were my last favorite titles in the franchise that did everything right, imo.

I've been playing pokemon since it was first released in the US in 1995, I tried all things to get "pikablu" in my versions of Red & Blue... all to no avail. I give that info to point out that I'm not some new-comer with a disdain for pokemon because it's not new. I'm an old fan of how much fun it used to be.

My complaints about Scar gagging noises and Vio wretching noises is that they weren't complete games. They were pushed out before they were finished, the motorcycle lizards were just appalling in all aspects (to me, I know ppl that liked them), and the world felt only slightly less vacant than Arceus.

This must be said about Palworld, it's popularity and dizzying current sales records shows that perhaps this is the direction that Pokemon should go, Not the guns and all, but just something more. The fans be damned for not understanding how new ideas (I'm speaking to the Black and White Nay-sayers) need to be incorporated into an almost 30 year old franchise. Some will work, some won't, but just because it isn't the same game that you got last time, doesn't mean that what you dislike is disliked by all others.

That's gotten long-winded.

Re: Yes, Nintendo Is Aware Of Palworld's Existence

Unit_DTH

While I'm not ok with blatant plagiarism, I'm also not ok with Game Freak designing stupid ugly "monsters" for the new games and saying, "Wow, its all new and it's better than ever!" When, in fact, it is worse than before and painful to look at. I mean come on, Garbador?!?! Clefkey???!!! The stupid icecream cone, or the cupcake?!?!? Goodra, sounds/looks like what you give a 2bit H***er. Give me a break!

Originality was replaced with complacence due to dedicated fans loyalty and this has bred laziness in design of the creatures as well as innovation in the Pokemon games themselves. They have rested on their fans and not updated anything worth while.

Palworld isn't original and the designs certainly aren't either, but they are giving people something that they want... Variety! A thing that Game Freak and Nintendo waved "bye bye" to long ago, in my opinion with Pkmn X/Y.

Arceus was fun, but lacking. It gave a glimpse of what pokemon could become, but then we got Scar-lacking and Vio-leaveitalone, both are just atrocious. And we have people complaining about Palworld? Be louder to Game Freak and Nintendo in telling them that their bland pokemon-esque games of recent years need to have higher quality in both design and build. If Nintendo, The Pokemon Company and Game Freak want to go after these devs, then they will. Stop being their free police and just watch it all unfold.

Re: Soapbox: Game Freak Could Actually Learn A Thing Or Two From Palworld

Unit_DTH

@UltimateOtaku91 The complaints by the writer have nothing to do with the capabilities of the hardware and everything thing to do with the lack of updating the formula to incorporate new and exciting things for an open-world Pokemon game. Run, catch, store, rinse, repeat... there is nothing new that entices you to explore the open-world of Scar-lacking and Vile-putrescence. Bought them at launch and played for 10 minutes before abandoning them. Game freak has a tried and true fromula that worked for Pokemon on the gameboy and DS lines; we have gotten nothing legitimately new before Arceus and the franchise is in dire need of some fresh ideas. I've been playing pokemon since it launched in the states in 1995, so I've slogged through all the main entries and even the spin-offs (not all of them were worth any time) and I can say that we need some improvements for the next entry.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Straight Up Fails In Just One Respect: Accessibility

Unit_DTH

I'm just gonna put this right here:

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/11/hori_releases_accessibility_controller_for_the_nintendo_switch

They don't have to remap them, you can via an accessibility controller or a mod for your switch. I understand the struggle, but this article is a gripe that could have easily been circumvented by utilizing an accessibility controller. It is NOT the job of a developer to worry about this.

Mountains from molehills.
