Re: Yes, Nintendo Is Aware Of Palworld's Existence

Unit_DTH

@HeadPirate Oh no, it did get less fun and that is my opinion.
I enjoyed Sword and Shield and Arceus, but The two latest entries just totally derailed the pokemon train.

I'm not looking for "more complex experiences", I'm an adult, with children (both teenage and young), I couldn't find time for more complex experiences if I wanted to. I just want to see actual innovation with the pokemon franchise and a 180 from the lazy, boring designs of most new additions to the 'dex.

@Metazoxan Of course you disagree with "almost everything" I've said and you are free to do that.

That's fine, you're entitled to your opinions about the whole situation and I don't have to agree with anything that you say either.

The fact that you took me saying it gives "Variety" as me saying they are innovative shows how little you actually read what I wrote and made an assumption based on your dislike of my viewpoint, which is entirely mine and I wrote it down to give myself a type of release from the inner scream that the comment section, and article, have started.

Palworld isn't innovative, but neither is pokemon at this point.

For the record, pkmn Black and White were my last favorite titles in the franchise that did everything right, imo.

I've been playing pokemon since it was first released in the US in 1995, I tried all things to get "pikablu" in my versions of Red & Blue... all to no avail. I give that info to point out that I'm not some new-comer with a disdain for pokemon because it's not new. I'm an old fan of how much fun it used to be.

My complaints about Scar gagging noises and Vio wretching noises is that they weren't complete games. They were pushed out before they were finished, the motorcycle lizards were just appalling in all aspects (to me, I know ppl that liked them), and the world felt only slightly less vacant than Arceus.

This must be said about Palworld, it's popularity and dizzying current sales records shows that perhaps this is the direction that Pokemon should go, Not the guns and all, but just something more. The fans be damned for not understanding how new ideas (I'm speaking to the Black and White Nay-sayers) need to be incorporated into an almost 30 year old franchise. Some will work, some won't, but just because it isn't the same game that you got last time, doesn't mean that what you dislike is disliked by all others.

That's gotten long-winded.

While I'm not ok with blatant plagiarism, I'm also not ok with Game Freak designing stupid ugly "monsters" for the new games and saying, "Wow, its all new and it's better than ever!" When, in fact, it is worse than before and painful to look at. I mean come on, Garbador?!?! Clefkey???!!! The stupid icecream cone, or the cupcake?!?!? Goodra, sounds/looks like what you give a 2bit H***er. Give me a break!

Originality was replaced with complacence due to dedicated fans loyalty and this has bred laziness in design of the creatures as well as innovation in the Pokemon games themselves. They have rested on their fans and not updated anything worth while.

Palworld isn't original and the designs certainly aren't either, but they are giving people something that they want... Variety! A thing that Game Freak and Nintendo waved "bye bye" to long ago, in my opinion with Pkmn X/Y.

Arceus was fun, but lacking. It gave a glimpse of what pokemon could become, but then we got Scar-lacking and Vio-leaveitalone, both are just atrocious. And we have people complaining about Palworld? Be louder to Game Freak and Nintendo in telling them that their bland pokemon-esque games of recent years need to have higher quality in both design and build. If Nintendo, The Pokemon Company and Game Freak want to go after these devs, then they will. Stop being their free police and just watch it all unfold.

Re: Soapbox: Game Freak Could Actually Learn A Thing Or Two From Palworld

Unit_DTH

@UltimateOtaku91 The complaints by the writer have nothing to do with the capabilities of the hardware and everything thing to do with the lack of updating the formula to incorporate new and exciting things for an open-world Pokemon game. Run, catch, store, rinse, repeat... there is nothing new that entices you to explore the open-world of Scar-lacking and Vile-putrescence. Bought them at launch and played for 10 minutes before abandoning them. Game freak has a tried and true fromula that worked for Pokemon on the gameboy and DS lines; we have gotten nothing legitimately new before Arceus and the franchise is in dire need of some fresh ideas. I've been playing pokemon since it launched in the states in 1995, so I've slogged through all the main entries and even the spin-offs (not all of them were worth any time) and I can say that we need some improvements for the next entry.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Straight Up Fails In Just One Respect: Accessibility

Unit_DTH

I'm just gonna put this right here:

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/11/hori_releases_accessibility_controller_for_the_nintendo_switch

They don't have to remap them, you can via an accessibility controller or a mod for your switch. I understand the struggle, but this article is a gripe that could have easily been circumvented by utilizing an accessibility controller. It is NOT the job of a developer to worry about this.

Mountains from molehills.

Re: Surprise! Red Dead Redemption Blasts Onto Switch Next Week

Unit_DTH

For all those comparing this to the GTA trilogy, don't.
That Trilogy they released was bad on every platform, including but not limited to Nintendo Switch, Rockstar even admitted that they did a bad job on that trilogy and are still working to fix it, https://www.cnet.com/tech/gaming/rockstar-games-apologizes-for-gta-trilogy-mess-heres-what-you-should-know/ <- that should give anyone an idea, I know it's "CNET" but it's pretty succinct. They didn't optimize a thing for that release and hopefully Rockstar has learned from that embarrassment and have had a more hands-on approach to this port.

Re: Video: Let's Talk About Those Switch 2 Rumours, Then

Unit_DTH

Honestly, trying to figure out the naming convention of any upcoming Nintendo console is the most fun for me. They could literally just update the switch and make its processing and capabilities on par with the PS5 and XB Series... Series, and call it Switch 2 and I would be fine with that, but we all know that its gonna be called the Nintendo Shibuya Monkey Remnants console

Re: Random: Forget The Wii U, This Coder Got Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Running In A Web Browser

Unit_DTH

@nessisonett It actually allowed for rapid prototyping and used HTML5, which has a much deeper set of functionality. Nintendo used this game as an internal guide to present to developers on their development site as a "best practices" working example.
It was helpful in understanding how the Nintendo Web Framework could be utilized in development.

@MarioLinkSamus No, it wasn't designed for phones. It was always intended for the flagship consoles.

Re: Countdown: Wii U eShop Spotlight - Affordable Space Adventures

Unit_DTH

@Dragonite89 Or, or... the developer stated that it wouldn't actually work as well on the switch, due to the need for the secondary screen on the Wii U Gamepad for the engineer to manage the ships systems. Honestly, the game is brilliant but I don't see it working on the switch without utilizing 2 Switch units in order to make it comparable to the Wii U version.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Fire Emblem Engage?

Unit_DTH

@Joker1234 I'm pretty sure I put over 20 hours in that game and finally got fed up with the repetition, tea parties, fishing and all the other boring filler. Too many meaningless conversations and boring generic characters talking about their homework et. al.
It just died for me and I never went back to it.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Fire Emblem Engage?

Unit_DTH

@Joker1234 Thank you for putting the correct description to how I felt for about 3 houses. Too much filler and not nearly enough substance. Engage feels, aside from the ugly protagonist design choices, like a return to form. Best one since Awakening, for me. I also like the upgraded battle system look and feel.

Re: Back Page: All The Pokémon From Scarlet And Violet So Far, Ranked From Worst To Best

Unit_DTH

@Alpha008 I have seen those videos, but they don't change my mind about the laziness of the final design look. They just seem like the designers have a bunch of 5 year olds locked in a basement taking orders and working their little crayons to the nub. "Ok, its a frog crossed with an avocado. Go! First 3 designs we can paste together into a final pokemon get a glass of milk and a nap!" I'm sure that doesn't sit well with you, or many other pokemon fans, but it's how it has seemed for me for a while with the franchise and a lot of the designs.

Re: Back Page: All The Pokémon From Scarlet And Violet So Far, Ranked From Worst To Best

Unit_DTH

@Anachronism like, I don't know... bags of trash. They just seem to be lacking in the creativity department and this gen really shows that to me. I in no way am going to try and deter anyone from enjoying the games. They just feel very uninspired at this point. I was hopeful seeing the starter, sans green cat, but after each reveal of a new one for these upcoming games I'm just coming to the realization that perhaps after 26 years of playing pokemon, I have come to the end of my enjoyment of the franchise. Sad realization right there.

Re: Random: Wiglett Is Evidence Of Crab-Like Pokémon Evolution, Says Fan

Unit_DTH

"Ok, ok, ok... I've got an idea for a new pokemon! Check it out!"
"Isn't that just Diglett?"
"No, no... it's not. It's completely different and it's long and white."
"So, you did the 'Sonic long-legs' thing to a diglett? You know, I can use photoshop, too, that doesn't mean that I should!"
Nintendo: "IT LOOKS AMAZING!!!" "Now, explain the nonsense behind why it looks like Diglett, but isn't Diglett."
