This could only be more NSFW if it was a lickitung plush with a textured rubber tongue that vibrated. For real, you know every person that saw this pre-production was laughing their a** off and thinking it was a joke. No way this just innocently got to production... they know what they are doing.
For all those comparing this to the GTA trilogy, don't. That Trilogy they released was bad on every platform, including but not limited to Nintendo Switch, Rockstar even admitted that they did a bad job on that trilogy and are still working to fix it, https://www.cnet.com/tech/gaming/rockstar-games-apologizes-for-gta-trilogy-mess-heres-what-you-should-know/ <- that should give anyone an idea, I know it's "CNET" but it's pretty succinct. They didn't optimize a thing for that release and hopefully Rockstar has learned from that embarrassment and have had a more hands-on approach to this port.
Honestly, trying to figure out the naming convention of any upcoming Nintendo console is the most fun for me. They could literally just update the switch and make its processing and capabilities on par with the PS5 and XB Series... Series, and call it Switch 2 and I would be fine with that, but we all know that its gonna be called the Nintendo Shibuya Monkey Remnants console
This is just what looks like a 1:1 port in order to make money. They released it on Wii U and Wii, so it's not like it was gonna disappear and they didn't even allude to it being any kind of "remaster" or "HD Update", it's just the GCN game with Switch controls.
The only thing that is keeping me from dismissing this is the variety of art styles that they seem to be using and that is cool, but as for the gameplay... this is a direct copy of Cuphead at least as far as what the combat looked like in this very limited trailer.
@MarioLinkSamus The translation of the game to a "smart" device would be outrageously easy, since that game has little to no requirement for the use of physical buttons, so the touch-based interface is already in place. Nintendo would most likely hide or remove all Wii U/DS references in the code... this is their way.
@nessisonett It actually allowed for rapid prototyping and used HTML5, which has a much deeper set of functionality. Nintendo used this game as an internal guide to present to developers on their development site as a "best practices" working example. It was helpful in understanding how the Nintendo Web Framework could be utilized in development.
@MarioLinkSamus No, it wasn't designed for phones. It was always intended for the flagship consoles.
@Dragonite89 Or, or... the developer stated that it wouldn't actually work as well on the switch, due to the need for the secondary screen on the Wii U Gamepad for the engineer to manage the ships systems. Honestly, the game is brilliant but I don't see it working on the switch without utilizing 2 Switch units in order to make it comparable to the Wii U version.
@antisumo Except that the hinges on clamshell designs, aside from the SP, always break... fast. If the Switch had screw holes akin to the ones on the original PSP, so that you could put a clamshell cover on it, then that would be great!
@Joker1234 I'm pretty sure I put over 20 hours in that game and finally got fed up with the repetition, tea parties, fishing and all the other boring filler. Too many meaningless conversations and boring generic characters talking about their homework et. al. It just died for me and I never went back to it.
@Joker1234 Thank you for putting the correct description to how I felt for about 3 houses. Too much filler and not nearly enough substance. Engage feels, aside from the ugly protagonist design choices, like a return to form. Best one since Awakening, for me. I also like the upgraded battle system look and feel.
I went and pre-ordered Bayo 3, because I don't buy games based on the claims of VAs or other easily replaceable gaming industry trogs, I buy them based on what I want to play and see more of.
@Anachronism It was for me for a while, but I honestly can't overlook the poor designs of the recent entries any longer and I will just not be playing it, but I encourage everyone that still enjoys it to do so! Have a blast!
@Alpha008 I have seen those videos, but they don't change my mind about the laziness of the final design look. They just seem like the designers have a bunch of 5 year olds locked in a basement taking orders and working their little crayons to the nub. "Ok, its a frog crossed with an avocado. Go! First 3 designs we can paste together into a final pokemon get a glass of milk and a nap!" I'm sure that doesn't sit well with you, or many other pokemon fans, but it's how it has seemed for me for a while with the franchise and a lot of the designs.
@Anachronism like, I don't know... bags of trash. They just seem to be lacking in the creativity department and this gen really shows that to me. I in no way am going to try and deter anyone from enjoying the games. They just feel very uninspired at this point. I was hopeful seeing the starter, sans green cat, but after each reveal of a new one for these upcoming games I'm just coming to the realization that perhaps after 26 years of playing pokemon, I have come to the end of my enjoyment of the franchise. Sad realization right there.
So, something she wasn't entitled to (from all the voice actor's weighing in about what they are paid and why) is supposed to turn all the fans that have been waiting for this game, since 2017, away? That's gonna be a nope!
"Ok, ok, ok... I've got an idea for a new pokemon! Check it out!" "Isn't that just Diglett?" "No, no... it's not. It's completely different and it's long and white." "So, you did the 'Sonic long-legs' thing to a diglett? You know, I can use photoshop, too, that doesn't mean that I should!" Nintendo: "IT LOOKS AMAZING!!!" "Now, explain the nonsense behind why it looks like Diglett, but isn't Diglett."
I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan and all for giving artists their time to shine, but for f*** sake is there no quality control by the director?? How did that horrific hair style make it into production? Whatever, as long as the hairstyle doesn't interfere with gameplay.
The only improvement I want to see is a F$%*&@# local multiplayer, you know... like we had in the first splatoon. Why can we not get a local multiplayer setup with multiple people being able to play on a single switch or make a local lobby for multiple switches with multiple players to join in on. Sheesh! This doesn't seem that complicated, but Nintendo keep missing the mark on this one. I'm planning to get the game, but I'm still gonna wonder why the heck they keep omitting this aspect of the game!
@Ruthven He was a main for me in Strikers for Wii, although his roll dodge was broken and allowed ppl to dodge past the goalie and score, same with boo.
@Olmectron Sorry, I didn't realize that "Downloadable Content (DLC)", even when available as a free update isn't actually "DLC"? DLC/free update content... you're arguing semantics. I was just making a comment about how asinine it was for people to get all up in arms that Daisy wasn't included in the initial release. And yes, "free DLC" might be a better term.
@moodycat It's actually a good way to get people to try there games a see if they interest them, then if the consumer does enjoy them they will pay attention to future releases from the dev. Marketing
If I hurt myself on the way in to work, then start having complications from my injury (acquired outside of work) my expectation would not be for the company to just take care of my medical needs. Now if they were hurt on the job, that is a very different story. This industry is rife with this type of treatment, but most of this article seems to be just moaning about not getting FT treatment when you are hired as a temp, through a temp agency. Nintendo is well over a 100 years old, does anyone think that this is REALLY the worst thing that they have done or will do moving forward? I certainly hope that nobody is that naive.
@Rambler I have 3 children and when my first two were born, my wife got a full 3 months of paid mat leave and I got 4 weeks of paid pat leave... I'm sure that isn't the case across the board, but it gives you a good idea that this isn't the problem that you are presenting it as. My 3rd child is adopted, so no mat leave for that.
@Kainbrightside I, like you, got the Wii U on released day and loved it. But I don't think that there is the level of nostalgia for the Wii U like there is for the NES, SNES, etc. I would have loved to see the console thrive, but I still firmly believe that the naming convention for it killed it before it's release.
His main reason for this is most likely that Wii U developers, and there were a lot of them, have yet to be granted access to the Switch development tools just because they developed for the Wii U. Nintendo seems to have gone back to their old stringent, for the better (maybe), developer acceptance policies. Since he is already an approved Wii U developer he is really working hard to try and make it, so that maybe Nintendo will allow him a switch developer agreement and he can make some money to continue his passion... at least that is the way it seems to me. Best of luck to the fella!
@PtM You are defining those items for a much more in depth system than the one that Nintendo has implemented. They have given us "folders" with a new name. There are no notable subset divisions within these "groups" that we can make, at least not yet. My comment referred exclusively to the New Groups addition to the Switch OS.
