Re: Surprise! Red Dead Redemption Blasts Onto Switch Next Week

Unit_DTH

For all those comparing this to the GTA trilogy, don't.
That Trilogy they released was bad on every platform, including but not limited to Nintendo Switch, Rockstar even admitted that they did a bad job on that trilogy and are still working to fix it, https://www.cnet.com/tech/gaming/rockstar-games-apologizes-for-gta-trilogy-mess-heres-what-you-should-know/ <- that should give anyone an idea, I know it's "CNET" but it's pretty succinct. They didn't optimize a thing for that release and hopefully Rockstar has learned from that embarrassment and have had a more hands-on approach to this port.

Re: Video: Let's Talk About Those Switch 2 Rumours, Then

Unit_DTH

Honestly, trying to figure out the naming convention of any upcoming Nintendo console is the most fun for me. They could literally just update the switch and make its processing and capabilities on par with the PS5 and XB Series... Series, and call it Switch 2 and I would be fine with that, but we all know that its gonna be called the Nintendo Shibuya Monkey Remnants console

Re: Random: Forget The Wii U, This Coder Got Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Running In A Web Browser

Unit_DTH

@nessisonett It actually allowed for rapid prototyping and used HTML5, which has a much deeper set of functionality. Nintendo used this game as an internal guide to present to developers on their development site as a "best practices" working example.
It was helpful in understanding how the Nintendo Web Framework could be utilized in development.

@MarioLinkSamus No, it wasn't designed for phones. It was always intended for the flagship consoles.

Re: Countdown: Wii U eShop Spotlight - Affordable Space Adventures

Unit_DTH

@Dragonite89 Or, or... the developer stated that it wouldn't actually work as well on the switch, due to the need for the secondary screen on the Wii U Gamepad for the engineer to manage the ships systems. Honestly, the game is brilliant but I don't see it working on the switch without utilizing 2 Switch units in order to make it comparable to the Wii U version.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Fire Emblem Engage?

Unit_DTH

@Joker1234 I'm pretty sure I put over 20 hours in that game and finally got fed up with the repetition, tea parties, fishing and all the other boring filler. Too many meaningless conversations and boring generic characters talking about their homework et. al.
It just died for me and I never went back to it.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Fire Emblem Engage?

Unit_DTH

@Joker1234 Thank you for putting the correct description to how I felt for about 3 houses. Too much filler and not nearly enough substance. Engage feels, aside from the ugly protagonist design choices, like a return to form. Best one since Awakening, for me. I also like the upgraded battle system look and feel.

Re: Back Page: All The Pokémon From Scarlet And Violet So Far, Ranked From Worst To Best

Unit_DTH

@Alpha008 I have seen those videos, but they don't change my mind about the laziness of the final design look. They just seem like the designers have a bunch of 5 year olds locked in a basement taking orders and working their little crayons to the nub. "Ok, its a frog crossed with an avocado. Go! First 3 designs we can paste together into a final pokemon get a glass of milk and a nap!" I'm sure that doesn't sit well with you, or many other pokemon fans, but it's how it has seemed for me for a while with the franchise and a lot of the designs.

@Anachronism like, I don't know... bags of trash. They just seem to be lacking in the creativity department and this gen really shows that to me. I in no way am going to try and deter anyone from enjoying the games. They just feel very uninspired at this point. I was hopeful seeing the starter, sans green cat, but after each reveal of a new one for these upcoming games I'm just coming to the realization that perhaps after 26 years of playing pokemon, I have come to the end of my enjoyment of the franchise. Sad realization right there.

Re: Random: Wiglett Is Evidence Of Crab-Like Pokémon Evolution, Says Fan

Unit_DTH

"Ok, ok, ok... I've got an idea for a new pokemon! Check it out!"
"Isn't that just Diglett?"
"No, no... it's not. It's completely different and it's long and white."
"So, you did the 'Sonic long-legs' thing to a diglett? You know, I can use photoshop, too, that doesn't mean that I should!"
Nintendo: "IT LOOKS AMAZING!!!" "Now, explain the nonsense behind why it looks like Diglett, but isn't Diglett."

Re: Everything Announced In The Latest Splatoon 3 Trailer - New Weapons, Photo Mode, And 3-Player Turf Wars

Unit_DTH

The only improvement I want to see is a F$%*&@# local multiplayer, you know... like we had in the first splatoon. Why can we not get a local multiplayer setup with multiple people being able to play on a single switch or make a local lobby for multiple switches with multiple players to join in on. Sheesh! This doesn't seem that complicated, but Nintendo keep missing the mark on this one. I'm planning to get the game, but I'm still gonna wonder why the heck they keep omitting this aspect of the game!

Re: Random: Daisy Shows Off Her Mario Strikers Skills, And The Internet Has Noticed

Unit_DTH

@Olmectron Sorry, I didn't realize that "Downloadable Content (DLC)", even when available as a free update isn't actually "DLC"? DLC/free update content... you're arguing semantics. I was just making a comment about how asinine it was for people to get all up in arms that Daisy wasn't included in the initial release. And yes, "free DLC" might be a better term.

Re: Nintendo Of America Criticised Over Treatment Of Part-Time And Contract Workers

Unit_DTH

If I hurt myself on the way in to work, then start having complications from my injury (acquired outside of work) my expectation would not be for the company to just take care of my medical needs. Now if they were hurt on the job, that is a very different story. This industry is rife with this type of treatment, but most of this article seems to be just moaning about not getting FT treatment when you are hired as a temp, through a temp agency. Nintendo is well over a 100 years old, does anyone think that this is REALLY the worst thing that they have done or will do moving forward? I certainly hope that nobody is that naive.

Re: eShop Closure Be Damned, This Dev Is Bringing Seven New Games To 3DS And Wii U

Unit_DTH

His main reason for this is most likely that Wii U developers, and there were a lot of them, have yet to be granted access to the Switch development tools just because they developed for the Wii U. Nintendo seems to have gone back to their old stringent, for the better (maybe), developer acceptance policies. Since he is already an approved Wii U developer he is really working hard to try and make it, so that maybe Nintendo will allow him a switch developer agreement and he can make some money to continue his passion... at least that is the way it seems to me. Best of luck to the fella!
