Honestly, Good riddance to bad rubbish... never really enjoyed the game at all and boy did I give it the old college try, it's just tiresome being back killed by 12 year olds and youtubers that only play this game. Makes it less fun for any newcomer. Maybe something new and fun will come out of this. To all those that enjoyed the game, I hope that you find another game to enjoy just as much!
This seems like they were trying to fix the issue with the Switch Lite and accidentally messed up the Switch Reg firmware, or maybe there really isn't any dilleniation in the OS that allows the firmware to use one feature for the Switch Reg and one for the Lite, other than no docked mode gameplay? I did notice this cool little feature from day one, but honestly... it isn't all that needed.
@JayJ Perhaps I wasn't clear in what I said. If you have both a Regular Switch and a Switch Lite, then (since it is designed entirely for portability) make the Lite your primary and the Classic Switch to your non-primary since it could be your "Home Console" and would always have an internet connection.
Also, constantly switching which console is your primary is a pain and should never be the case in this situation. Nintendo is doing some backwards stuff, but they do enjoy keeping archaic unintuitive systems in place for their online offerings.
@Jeaz The sad thing is that I have my kids setup this same way that you are talking about, but they cannot play any of the digital games I have bought for my user on their profiles on their Nintendo Switch™ consoles from their user profiles. I must setup my profile on each of their consoles, then download whatever digital games they want to be able to play, then they have to use my profile to play the games bought with my account. Kinda dumb, since it isn't really family sharing.
@JayJ I agree that they should change their policy, but I stated it is an easy work-around for those that decide to have both models in their household and also stated that they need to change their policy. If you read the fine print on EULAs, you don't own anything that you purchase digitally, so "not owning" the digital games on your "home console" switch really means nothing at this point.
Honestly, it's not the best way to play, but if you do want to make the "old" switch into your home console and use the Lite as your primary portable, then changing the Lite to Primary, as stated above, is the best option. In this day and age the chance of your "home" console not having internet connection is a lot smaller than the chance of you not having internet 'on-the-go'. Yes, you can use your phone as a hotspot or coffee shops have wifi, but honestly if I'm using mine on the go, I'm not sitting in a coffee shop but on an airplane, in a car, etc., not sitting in a wifi ready area. Nintendo needs to improve on this and remove the "always online" issue for the same profile on two separate consoles, but until then, this is a manageable work-around.
I wonder if this is where the Nintendo QOL team decided to go with that project? This is just a little too close to Wii Fit for me. probably gonna pass until it's about $30... which should be about 4 months after it releases.
This game was fun, but the community was DOA and never got big on Switch, maybe PC had better luck in that regard. I think that the only thing this game is/was missing, on switch, is local Multiplayer. I was honestly expecting that from the start, but it has still never come to pass. Oh well, I'll try it again, but doubt the community will actually be there this time around either, which is a pity, because the game is fun.
"They’re not particularly developer-friendly, either. Microsoft’s mandate that all games were required to include unlockable achievements created extra work for game devs, and its easy to understand why so many take the uninspired form of ‘You completed Level 3!’ or ‘You jumped 10,000 times!’ It’s another layer of work added to each platform the game releases on, and while it’s often easy to track certain player stats and actions (especially on modern platforms), it can be more difficult for smaller indies already crunching to get the game running and not wanting to tack on a bunch of dull, token achievements after they've worked so hard on the core game. Being creative takes time and the best great achievements are imaginative and playful."
Most Game Engines have a built-in, or easily integrated, achievement creation system for them already and Unity, Unreal Engine, et. al. are no exception to this. Once Nintendo provides the achievement prerequisites in their SDK then integrating them is usually not that hard. The above statement that I quoted is based on a concept that indies are lazy and wouldn't be imaginative in naming or creating their achievements. I would love to see an integrated Achievement system, but I've wanted that since the Wii.
@Mallow I've enjoyed your comments so far, as they are terribly dry and well written, just as I like them. Keep it up, but also understand that this is a forum where fans weigh in on a company that they, basically, keep in business. In this case these comments are like a town hall that, if they wanted to, Nintendo could come to read through and possibly see where they could improve or need to improve. Doubtful that many of us (including yourself and that dry wit of yours) contemplate the financials of a game company at any other time than when the company announces something regarding one of their services as it pertains to paying customers. The service - as it stands right now - is lacking. Everyone cannot be pleased all the time and the internet does give the whiniest of ppl the loudest shriek, no need to berate them.
Honestly, there is so little that it is offering as a subscription service. The retro games they give us are not the best (kinda wonder who was the person deciding which titles should be in that launch lineup)
and certainly not the ones that make me harken back to joyful childhood memories on my NES. NO VOICECHAT ON THE CONSOLE!! What?!?! Why wouldn't you allow that, hell they do it on Fortnite without any stupid phone app?! Next, why are there no achievments? Nothing even like achievements on the switch. Anybody else remember when the PS3 retrofitted many games with achievements? I do. It would be nice to have something like stars that relate to achievements, but no, we get to pay to play a few games online and use our phone to chat if we wanna play online and then, we can only chat in a private party with people we know or have on our friend list, can't just jump into a match and coordinate with strangers... god forbid we could talk to strangers. It honestly feels like Nintendo is like a helicopter parent watching their children use the internet for the first time in the 90's and are worried about them meeting a stranger and getting kidnapped! I love my Switch, play it more than my other consoles and PC, but their policies and over-bearance is just a bit on the "Crazy Mom" side.
Edit: I should note that I do have a subscription to NintendoOnline and a family one at that, so I am a paying customer speaking my mind.
Honestly, I'm fine with these games. Yes, they have been re-released time and again, but I'm alright with it, doubt I will sink that much time into them anyway. What I would like to see for the Nintendo Online service is some type of achievement system akin to XBL and PSN. Why can't we get something like that? Seems kind of like a no-brainer at this point. Hell, even different games on the switch already have achievements in them and logs for those achievements. Come on Nintendo.
@gcunit I can totally understand the draw of those art styles. I have a great admiration for the talent behind the art in those games and thank you for the kind interaction! Thank you as well for the kind words.
@gcunit - If you aren't playing the game how do you know that it has copied the mechanic from the Kirby games, but "...not so well." The mechanic is sound and the game is not supposed to move slowly, so it's similarity to Kirby stops at the ball moving in the direction of the drawn lines. Please find me on twitter and I will try to get you a free copy to test it for yourself. I'm happy to give you a chance to play the game and then decide how well it uses the mechanics for yourself. I'm not really upset about your comment, I just want to give you the chance to try it and dis it based on playing it. @Unit_DTH_Studio
Tim - Thank you for reviewing the current build of the game, I was expecting this score for the amount of content currently available and that is fine with me for right now. This review is just great incentive to continue to expand and build on the game and give the players what they would like to have in this title.
@Lemonslice - Interesting that you should say that about the art, since two of the levels themes and full design are based entirely off of artwork by my oldest child and one of my nephews, 10 and 16 repspectively. The rest have been digitally painted in PS and reduced to accommodate the console's abilities. Thank you for reading the review and commenting on it. Have a great day!
@HeCaster101 This would be the best way to get the files, since playing the .exe file requires the disk to be mounted to a drive (usually the Y: drive). with the 7zip method you can extract them without having to use the .exe file.
@Quorthon "People need to be smarter and not run their lives (and mouths) with thoughtless knee-jerk reactions and black-and-white sentiments towards things like Kickstarter. I agree with you. I have backed quite a few KS titles, some didn't make it, but the ones that did are still coming along nicely and I'm sure they will be enjoyable experiences.
@AyeHaley Also, could you elaborate on what wouldn't be "un-nintendo"? Would it be something along the lines of following all the norms of the industry that they are so deeply ingrained in? Or perhaps making a console that is right in line with the specs of all the other consoles available? I've noticed that they don't quite do things the way we think they should, so this thing isn't any surprise to me. Heck, have you seen the completely 90's themed US video ads for Splatoon?
@AyeHaley I think at the moment, for Nintendo at least, any publicity(stunt) is good publicity. I know it seems like a strange way to garner publicity, but think about how many people will now be following his movement for the rest of the day due to this status update... now, think about how many views Nintendo's post about it's E3 plans will get due to this little "stunt". It's pretty brilliant if you think about it that way, but in all honesty, he's probably just trolling like always.
How else are you gonna drum up publicity for the upcoming Nintendo E3 announcement later today? Controversy builds momentum and grabs people's attention, even if they have the attention span of a gnat!
@Morph A game engine by itself does not produce garbage, nor can it keep developers from producing garbage. It is just a tool, it is up to the developer to make the final decision about whether their game is worth making or not and you, as a consumer, help them to make a more educated decision about their title by purchasing the title, not purchasing the title, downloading the free demo and giving constructive feedback, or just totally ignoring the game. The engine just brings the parts together to do what the developer says they should, it doesn't create anything.
@dkxcalibur Let me help you, Get MH4 and Xenoblade Chronicles, then when Codename: STEAM drops in price, get it. I have MH4U and Codename: STEAM, both are great games, but MH4U has much more depth and longevity to it. Just trying to help point you in the right direction.
@TrueWiiMaster Ishould have clarified. He was the first and only developer to use the NWF framework to build and release a game on Nintendo's platform at the time. I never said he was the only indie developer to release a game on Nintendo's platform.
I'm curious why the only developer to take the initial plunge into uncharted Nintendo waters is so hated on? If you don't want the quick fire and value priced games, then don't buy them, but the animosity that all of you continue to dole out to @RCMADIAX is completely uncalled for. He can defend himself and does a fine job of it on here with all of you, but seriously what is wrong with a game that is a copy of another concept? Aren't all platformers, or touch based games just copies of other ideas, there is alway a first in something and if you come after the first, how you present your idea is where you stand out. His presentation is perfectly fine and he doesn't pretend that he has made AAA blockbuster titles, so give the hatred a rest. We are talking about video games, not feeding the world or the morality of a nation, but a video game publisher... sheesh!
@Wouwter This is what made me finally enjoy the game! The virtual d-pad for the camera and the monster lock camera, before those I could not get into the games and I bought almost every iteration... I just never put in the amount of time I put into MH3U.
@ikki5 If you are a game developer and you have a family, which I don't know if he does or not, then your relationships can suffer greatly. It is a hard thing to balance making a good game with having a good private/family life. A lot of the time you sacrifice being present for special occasions, just to ensure that fans or potential fans will be pleased with the game you are working on. Cut the guy some slack, he is working pretty hard to please a bunch of ingrates.
I'm still excited for this game and am looking forward to it. The demo was a lot of fun, so I believe that the extended content that the full version will offer can only make it more enjoyable.
@IxC there is a nondisclosure agreement that all nintendo devs sign. You will not be getting this information from any legit sources, that will be continuing to develop for the platform. Nintendo has really good lawyers. That is all.
The Wii U isn't selling well! Then we should make an arcade game using one of our most famous IPs. Isn't arcade gaming mostly dead. Yes. Then why not announce it for our latest home console and give it to the fans that really need and want games? Don't think logically, darn you! We don't care about them!
^When I read articles like this, the above is the conversation that I imagine the heads of Nintendo are having with their developers. Why the heck would they not go ahead and announce this for the Wii U?! I love ya nintendo, but you are really testing my limits of what I will tolerate from you as a company. There are only so many bad decisions I will tolerate before I just put you aside and say, "No more. I am done with this nonsense."
@Peach64 Just wondering what you are referring to as "the competition"? Because I've had a PS4 since launch and it still doesn't have any "must have" indie titles on it, well at least not until this game just released on it. The Wii U has had a fairly steady stream of Indie support and more so recently, heck my Wii U menu looks crazy from all the indie titles I have on it! Which raises another small off-topic point... Who else feels like Nintendo needs to give us "Folders" akin to the 3DS for organizing our Wii U Home Menu? This is a much needed thing for the Wii U OS imo.

I'm still excited for this game and am looking forward to it. The demo was a lot of fun, so I believe that the extended content that the full version will offer can only make it more enjoyable.
Re: From the Forum: To Buy or Not to Buy? SPIKEY WALLS Fires Debate as Developer Defends Project
@lxC I know this because I have signed it.
Re: From the Forum: To Buy or Not to Buy? SPIKEY WALLS Fires Debate as Developer Defends Project
@IxC there is a nondisclosure agreement that all nintendo devs sign. You will not be getting this information from any legit sources, that will be continuing to develop for the platform. Nintendo has really good lawyers. That is all.
Re: Carbon Fire Studio Launching Frenchy Bird On Wii U eShop
@kukabuksilaks exactly! I was alright with one, but not more than one.
Re: That Shocking Pokémon Announcement Was Arcade Fighter Pokkén Tournament
Re: First Impressions: Hyrule Warriors Is Zelda, But Not As We Know It
@Blast I'm with you on that. I preordered this and bayou 2 last week.
Re: Review: Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition (Wii U eShop)
