We saw plenty of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild earlier in the year, but now that a little time has passed there seems to be a renewed appetite for more footage of the game. Nintendo is still sticking to areas seen in the E3 demo, but it's nevertheless rather nice to see the upcoming blockbuster in action.
An extended video has now been posted of a Game Center DX episode focused on the game, in which 'challenges' are tackled. Though the show is naturally in Japanese, there's plenty of neat gameplay footage from the Wii U version.
Is this near the top of your wishlist for 2017? Let us know in the comments.

The only new thing I noticed in this vid was that the Old Man seemed to be in various places. He's sitting beside the fireplace where the second E3 demo begins.
I wonder what he says when you talk to him in the different spots. I guess some tutorial like tips?
Seems to be running a lot smoother which is good to see.
A better name would be "The Legend of Zelda: Barren Worlds"
@Moshugan "What're ya' buyin,, stranger?"
@WilliamCalley I agree the game looks too barren. My biggest excitement for this game is due to the "climb everything" mechanic. Plus it's Zelda.
what is this? Is it a spin off of Game Centre CX but with the producer instead of Arino? I love GCCX, watched every subtitled version multiple times (if you want to see them for yourself Google 'gamingCX' - there is a site all the subbed videos get dumped onto)
Will watch this one later, altho without Arino it won't be as good - even if it is Zelda BotW
I really just want march to hurry up and get here.
I've been trying to leave myself unspoiled for this game and haven't really seen anything after the E3 footage. I'm sure I'll enjoy it, and it will be great to play it on the couch off screen on the NX.
Game is running really smoothly. Animation looks great. The world is a bit barren though. I'm not really sure what they're going for. I do know that when I go hiking I don't see a bear every ten feet and herds of other forest creatures so it's not too different from reality. That being said Xenoblade x had a lot more going on in its environment. ZBOW is looking great however.
I think people are expecting to see like cities of people, gorons, zoras and roaming traders and stuff like that but this is still just a tiny portion of the map and it seems to be a very far out place full of bokoblins and the odd animal/creature. I mean I'm sure there will be stuff reminiscent of Zora's Domain and Death Mountain, Kakariko Village, etc. somewhere and who knows how the world might change in-game while you play further into it. I doubt it's going to be "follow the hermit", lol
I love the look of the game so far though, everything I've seen just makes me more excited to play it in March, hopefully on my new Nintendo Switch.
Just try to reserve your judgements of the world until you've gotten your hands on the game. You know it's not going to be as cut and dry as it looks. It never is. XD
In regards to the show I didn't have a clue what they were saying the whole way through but I still found myself having fun and laughing with them. It was pretty cool. I loved that bit where they actually called Aonuma to ask how to beat the boss(?), hahaha!
@WilliamCalley tipical person judging a game before its out. Didn't they say there's over 100 shrines to explore, and if you watched the videos, the puzzles looks pretty in depth. Also, this is only 1.5% of the game so I wouldn't be callen it "barren" just yet. I don't think this is going to be another no mans sky. At least I hope not.
@Turniplord While CX covers retro games and has Arino, DX covers new games and has his comedy partner Hamaguchi. There haven't been too many DX episodes, they've all been on Nintendo's YouTube channel.
@Drake ahhh OK, thanks for that. I don't understand Japanese so can only watch the subtitled episodes, so unless they do these I prob won't watch them.
I thought it was like the mini specials they used to do on the wii where Arino would play VC games.
I'm still waiting for a translation of the movie as well
@Aaron09 He's saying it looks barren due to the low render distance, with everything more than 20 meters away looking like an early N64 game.
@RedeadLink oh Ok. Sorry.
@Manjushri Free? Where?
@Manjushri No, it's just that the Switch version is portable by virtue of the fact that it's on Switch. You still have to pay for the game unless it's bundled with the system. It's not free.
I've watched so much gameplay footage I literally know the entire Plateau off-by-heart and I've never even played the game.
I think it's kind of funny, Nintneod says they held off on showing us Switch b/c they didn't want other companies to steal their idea, but since they showed us Zelda U at E3 in 2014, and told us it was supposed to release in 2015, I feel like so many other games have appeared taking this game to another level.
Horizon Zero Dawn
If you go the 6:30 minute of this video you'll see the girl riding an animal fighting a Corrupter, which seems very similar to the original Zelda E3 trailer.

The Witcher 3, DLC 2
While usually a brown and dirty game, I can't help but think Tousaint was created by developers thinking of Hyrule.

I wouldn't even be surprised if Skyrim Remastered was in part due to the popularity of this games showing at E3 2014.

So maybe for future reference, Nintendo should show off it's hardware sooner, it's games later? Not too much later though Nintendo, 6 months until Switch launches is fine, but not 3 years before a game releases. Which is what it will be between E3 2014 when Zelda U was was first shown and early 2017 when it finally releases. And if it gets delayed until holiday 2017, that will be 3 1/2 years. Too long.
The Wii U version still looks awesome. I don't think I'll be cancelling my preorder for it on Wii U. I'll wait till Fall 2017 or later for Switch to build up 3-5 killer games in addition to BotW before I make the "switch". That said, if Pikmin 4 drops on Switch, it's ON.
The dude playing this is terrible at Zelda games. Everyone is laughing at his lack of skill and his mistakes.
Where is Arino???
Sigh. Am I the only one who's not excited about this new Zelda game?
Try to keep the hype low, so I'll watch no video until February
Top of my list, bundled in the Switch hopefully.
@edcomics I don't know the full story, but note that this is not Game Center CX but DX.
@rjejr doesn't seem too excited either, ed.
This game will be my birthday gift to myself. Bring on March!
Looks so good. This'll be a perfect send-off for the wonderful Wii U.
@Moshugan I'm never excited by anything, everyone knows I don't count.
I was excited though, back in 2014. It would have been Day 1 back in 2015 when Nintendo twice said it was supposed to release. And if it was out this Christmas, like they said it would be last year, and had they promoted it all year like Pokemon, I might still be excited then. Now it feels like a medical commercial - if you've been excited for Zelda U for more than 2 years please stop and call your doctor.
Zelda isn't the only game this has happened with though. I was so excited for The Last Guardian 7 or 8 years ago. I'm not even getting it now. At least I still watch the Zelda trailers, hoping they'll show me something that excites me again, hot air balloon, giant eagles, "Last Shadow" (Avatar film). I feel like they've been showing us the same graphics engine tech demo for 2 years, where's the game? Zelda usually has a hook. They couldn't be working on a game for 3 years and not come up with a great hook. Putting a Zelda skin on Skyrim wouldn't take 3 years.
@Frank-The-Tank Agreed, although this is the first game footage I have seen of someone getting to the cliffs above either of the skull camps (the one with the hanging cages as well as the one with the windy canyon). Him trying to get across that gorge near the woodshed without trees was also entertaining.
Speaking of which, has anyone translated the journal he found in the woodshed yet? I'm fairly certain that wasn't in the E3 demo, unless I just missed that. I'm curious to see if there's any interesting minor story bits or something.
@rjejr Yeaaah, I know what you mean about the waiting and all.
Comparing Zelda BotW to some of the titles you mentioned, my biggest fear is that BotW will feel very last-gen when it drops in 2017. It being Team Aonuma's first actual open world game and them using what's essentially last-gen technology doesn't bode well for the title. (but with all the similarities, BotW and Horizon will focus on quite different gameplay styles - but we've talked about this already before)
I mean, I'm sure it'll be a fun title (and I do think it has a lot of "hooks", like the movement options such as glider with air currents, sliding with a shield etc) and I will most def love It, but the old tech might be holding them back from implementing all ideas and making things feel as grand as they could.
For example, I'm hoping for a vast "over-world dungeon", like a huge maze filled with puzzles and battles, and huge sprawling towns, but I doubt there will be such, because they might need to limit things happening at once in an open environment.
Hadn't watched a lot of footage before, but I can see that the early part of gameplay shows that fighting without Z-targeting looks to be better than it's ever been. I'm hoping that all I'd miss out on from refusing to use it would be those annoying slow-motion bits.
