The Miitomo update that was teased back in October has been revealed in a little more detail.
Once the mandatory updates arrives, you'll be able to send direct messages to people on your friends list. You'll also be able to customize what your room looks like by picking a wallpaper and floor design, as well as hanging up your favourite images as posters.
Snappy dressers will be pleased to learn that a new "Style Central" section is coming which will allow you to share your costumes with the world. You can also respond to publicly posted questions in "Answer Central".
Finally, "sidekick" Miis will be introduced. These can be created from scratch and will inhabit their own rooms.
Are you looking forward to this new update? Will it encourage you to pick up Miitomo again? Let us know with a comment below.

I can't be excited about this but we'll see. I've only used the app for the My Nintendo points and they in turn have expired because there was nothing worthwhile or of interest to download. So both have been very disappointing and a waste of time for me. Hopefully My Nintendo gets a "big update" too.
And the announcement was met to the sound of crickets.
Miitomo is still not available in Norway! Why has Nintendo forsaken us?
Still waiting for it to come out in Greece as well....
Looking forward to this!
What is the timeframe of when this will drop?
A bit too late to be any use...
I think about 99% of players have stopped playing Miitomo...
Add more Platinum rewards to MyNintendo - only then will I consider redownloading.
OMG I'm so excited, I can't wait, how amazing. I've been playing it every single day since it's release (nearly) I thought they'd forgotten how mind-numbingly boring and repetitive it is - finally some variety. I still only have 2 friends, but lots of hats.
@Pink_Floyd "coming soon"
On a side note, My Nintendo now has another 3DS Theme, this time featuring Isabelle.

This one costs 100 Platinum Points, which is half as much as the other My Nintendo Themes.
EDIT: This theme is available in NA, but I'm not sure about other regions.
Ah more platinum points to buy nothing. I hope someone finds this app amusing.
I use to farm platinum points, 17 points a day but since they kept expiring every month I just gave up on this. But I still do the my Nintendo mission of going to eshop and miiverse and the Nintendo website for my platinum points. I think I'll even stop that as there is nothing, absolutely nothing. I even had to buy those 10 game tickets as well as the 5 game ticket twice.
@allav866 thanks. I followed the link. It doesn't let me redeem.
@UK-Nintendo It's available in NA, but I'm not sure about other regions.
I'm really not interested in My Nintendo. I remember getting cool merch from Club Nintendo just through buying games for their consoles. That system worked and I figured there'd be more awesome loot to collect and new ways to collect points to claim that loot with in this new My Nintendo system but this is just ridiculous. Now the best thing you can get is a percentage off a game or some tiny picross stuff and other meh rewards.
And people are saying "Yeah but we're lucky they even have a system and oh but they don't have to give you anything." But I mean come on, it just feels like a bad attempt. It feels like it could have been so much grander.
-rant over ^_^; Ranting aside, this Miitomo update looks pretty awesome. Lots of features I had been hoping would be part of the original release so it's cool to see them appearing now
Can't say I'm excited, but I am looking forward to it.
I can imagine my 2 friends that do play Miitomo (for fun) will be more excited. One is big on games like Tomodachi Life, Nintendogs +cats & Animal Crossing and my next one is a social butterfly in denial, so it would make sense.
I still don't care.
Miitomo officially remains limited to only 20 countries thus far, whilst Nintendo Account/My Nintendo is available in 39 countries at this point. Although, keep in mind the app initially launched in only 16 countries, only increasing the roster with every big update.
Nintendo claims they are releasing Super Mario Run in over 150 countries this December, around the same time as the major Miitomo update. Additionally, Super Mario Run supposedly works with Nintendo Account, basically adding the same friend list as on Miitomo, and probably a little more than that.
I am wondering whether it is coincidence that December will see Nintendo expanding their mobile strategies into so many new territories, possibly even in countries not acknowledged on the Nintendo 3DS settings.
I still have the app installed and will keep it that way. Last time I came back to it to spend all my tickets, candies, and coins on the Mario clothing that was on, then I never touched the app again.
also, just 3 of my friends played it and they're done with it long ago so no matter how cool a new update is, I'll likely be alone on it anyway. Poor Mii.
I've got all the home screens and link picross so I'm saving coins for nothing at this point. 😐
I might give it another try once the update hits. I used to play very regularly, but then stopped once most of my friends stopped playing.
Yes, room customization!
Room customization finally!
@allav866 Thanks for the heads up! I just got it.
And the public's reaction is this.
LIke most people are saying, this is LONG overdue, it's welcome, and hopefully releases in more countries with this update, but many many people have stopped playing, me included. I'll give it a look see when it arrives, but not sure if it will hold my attention for long.
Also yes to those wanting a better My Nintendo, it really needs to happen, also Nintendo needs to bring back the digital promotion that the wii U had for only a short period of time, allowing us to earn $ when we spent $$$.
Haven't used Miitomo because it was getting boring, and the platinum points are still useless. But maybe with this update, I'll go back and customize my room!
@Nintendude789 platinum points are still way better than gold points.
Too late Nintendo! Yet another missed opportunity.
I held out longer than most but finally uninstalled it from my phone about a week ago.
..wait..I can now have a Mini-Mii?..
..I'd say groovy baby, but it's too little,
too late..
This would have been really exciting 6 months ago!
"Are you looking forward to this new update?"
They seem to have decreased the number of new daily clothing items in the store, I suppose so that they don't have to continually create as much content.
Support for ios7 is also being dropped, but I have no idea how that impacts ios users.
Edit: clothes selection is back to normal now. Must have been a glitch yesterday.
Wow people who's playing this? I've heard it will come to life when the switch launches, with lots of cool menu themes and discounted DLC....it's worth continuing the farse until then just to see what you can buy for your new shiny (actually matt) finish N switch.
Every little bit helps...I guess.
I remember wanting room customisation, but i haven't played in ages
Nice! It's a fun little app, could be optimized a bit to be speedier when answering questions and seeking out the answers you want.
I mainly just collect daily login bonuses these days, and use the Mii outfits to make comics or send neat personalized texts (via miitomo pics). Which is pretty great since it's free (and they've been pretty generous in recent updates with miitomo drop tickets, which is a fun minigame)
Hmm...if sidekick Mii's = having more than 1 Mii as your main (to face the public), I may get some use out of the female costume items I've been picking up! I'm looking forward to seeing if that's how it works
I appreciate the effort, but I don't care anymore. I don't even bother with the eshop and Miiverse check in for coins. Bring it to more countries.
I stopped playing around early summer, this might make me check it out again, after reviews for it pop up of course
