Re: Feature: Super Rare Games Talks Digital Publishing, "Shorts" Criticism, And Anticipating The Switch Successor

Stocksy

I’m a big fan of keeping physical media alive. I own a lot of their early releases. Their pivot away from me being a customer to a “fan” and being asked to join a fan club just to get early information, felt greedy and frankly ridiculous. Which was a shame coz they were doing good things and avoiding some of the issues that plague LRG.

It’s a shame. I’m glad they are doing well and they have plenty of “fans”. They seem nice people and I wish them well.

Re: Microsoft: ActiBlizz Acquisition Gives Xbox A Chance To Be A "Good Publisher" On All Platforms

I like Xbox. I own every gen of Xbox and multiple versions of a a few. 100s of digital games and well over 300 physical games.

The do half talk a lot of nonsense though. They have a cult like following now, that won’t have a bad word said about them.

Their exclusives haven’t been good enough for a while (the odd exception of course) even Forza MS they ruined. (An open goal).

Gamepass is not the charity gift to gamers many make out.

I understand why many like Gamepass. But for many it is overpriced and not suitable. Yet people are hammered and called “not real gamers” if they don’t like it.

I’d like Xbox to focus and make a few exclusives that were not live service games in disguise.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Red Dead Redemption On Switch

People seem to not know the difference between a Port, a remaster and a remake….. they never claimed this was anything but a port.

So it’s ended up…..

A port.

It runs better than the original and people still call it a lazy port.

It might be a lazy release…. But it’s a port.

Nintendo have done the same.

I wish it was getting a steam port.

Goes to the room and the back of the house now dedicated for this and picks out the 11,197 journal I have started page 64th and adds Rockstar to the list of companies I’m told to boycott.

Sighs. Goes to sit on the floor. I’m in trouble if I’m told I have to boycott the company that makes the journals.

We are lucky to have so many experts in gaming code and how to build massive million copy selling games posting here on our little corner of the internet. We should all be thankful for their input. Like I always feel lucky on purexbox how many experts in multibillion dollar merger laws there are….

Sometimes we have to be thankful these people bless us with their time. They are not in their mums basement typing nonsense. No sir. They know best

Re: NASCAR Gets Arcade-Style Twist In New Racing Game, Coming To Switch This Year

Stocksy

NASCAR unleashed and NASCAR karts were both good.

I loved the sound of this until I realised that all of the cover and screen shot press release pics and blurb make no mention of drivers or real sponsors. So it’s tracks that are made to look nothing like their real versions and no actual nascar drivers or cars….. hmmmmmmm

I’m less excited.

Re: Mailbox: Welcome To The Nintendo Life Letters Page!

@Lightsiyd tbh I agree it’s just I’m so tired of reading a positive review - 7/10 and seeing comments - “oh hard pass then. Expect it to be good”

Get rid of scores and it’ll force lazy fools to actually think for themselves. Also it’ll stop the trend of dishing out 9/10 like candy.

I saw a website give Redfall a 4/5 and then Zelda 5/5 ——— like if that doesn’t highlight we scores are meaningless nothing will.

If you didnt look elsewhere you’d think those two games are close in standards.

No one believes that surely.

Re: Mailbox: Welcome To The Nintendo Life Letters Page!

The scoring thing always gets me. Also the fact “there are so many 9/10 games that people don’t bother with 7s shows where we have gone wrong. There are not a load of 9/10s that’s a fact.

There are games that reviewers score higher but in all reality there are very few 9/10 games.

I’d get rid of scores.

I want more facts in reviews and less opinions. Tell me about features, controls etc. give opinions briefly at the end.

Many times I come away from a review with my main questions about the game unanswered.

Also try and put a reviewer on the game that actually understand what the target market of the game actually wants from the game.

Re: Dolphin Emulator Steam Release "Indefinitely Postponed"

@Dpishere aye. I was thinking who wouldn’t just use emudeck. Takes minutes to set and up and literally does everything and makes it easy to tinker.

Emudeck is the way to go.

I genuinely have a collection of way way over 1000 games on all platforms probably now close to 5000. I have no issue with emulating any of them or any old games I can’t now get. I put enough in the game industry eco system. Way more than these arm chair moralists.

@NatiaAdamo you seem to think laws in one country apply worldwide….. you American by any chance?

You mean In the “land of opportunity” there are so many laws to make sure the opportunity is for the rich and to keep the poor in check to just make them rich?!?

Never

Re: Speedrunner Beats Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom In Just 94 Minutes

Stocksy

@Cashews I’d agree. But day one speed runs?

Like I tried to explain (obviously badly) that isn’t my understanding of what a speed run was. People were not speed running any games back in the day within 6 hours of the game coming out. It took time. It’s an art form.

This is playing a pirate version. Learning a speed run and uploading it for money.

That isn’t what speed running was back in the day.

I’m not sure anyone at Nintendo likes pirates

Re: Speedrunner Beats Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom In Just 94 Minutes

Stocksy

Definitely not a first play through. Obviously played the leaked copy.

I always thought speed runners loved the game and played it front to back so many times that they’d learnt how to do it quickly. Which I admired. This is just the opposite. The game is lovingly crafted and a rich world. To not explore it and instead exploit it just seems strange. In a way it sums up the “influencer” culture. No patience, no culture, just want instant results and instant pay.

Anything for clicks and likes.

In other news for people that actually want to play the game it’s a pretty good game maybe spend some time playing it.
