Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Pac-Man World: Re-Pac

If you own a ps5 and a switch and you get this on the ps5 you aren’t doing life right. This game is perfect for the switch.

Nintendo life where is your review?!?!?!?!!!?!? Who is sleeping on the job?

I preordered physical but it’s not arrived yet. Boo.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Wave Race 64

Issue is for me is The black box is iconic. If you were a n64 fan back then from U.K. you will have fond memories of the U.K. boxes. Japan never wins for me as it never looks like a n64 box. Just me personally I also find often the design seems cluttered and mismatch. This is one of the better Japanese ones. NA wins this week. Although I’ll take the U.K. box everyday of the week. I’m all for universal sections on boxes.

Re: Embracer Group Acquires Limited Run Games, Lord Of The Rings IP & More

@Old-Red they were greedy from the start. Misled customers. Lied. Got caught lying. Continued to lie. Had a cult like following that defend them to the hilt.

I bought the first couple of years of their switch out put. Maybe 3 years. Got fed up with their arrogance, terrible customer service and dubious choice of how to sell and market certain games. After I stopped buying it got worse and worse to the point of a farce.

Games like doom and Star Wars should never be released by a company like that and the fact they then got a commercial release and better value proved it.

Whilst it was mostly legal. It was dubious and very very close to the definition of a scam in my book.

Re: Nintendo Reveals The Next N64 Game For Its Switch Online + Expansion Pack Service

I got a controller in that last batch in U.K. held off buying the plus sub until then next essential game and they give it to me straight away. This would be tied in the top 5 all essential games I would want. Like there are another. 30+ corking games but a game like this I would go back to time and time again. Like I have a n64 and this on cart but still not the point.

Re: Random: GQ Calls Video Game Patches "Laziness", And People Are Not Impressed

Stocksy

@CaptainSkin yes it is. As I explained. Again you’ve been triggered because you fear someone “innocent” is being accused. Publishers and senior gaming industry managers are lazy and greedy. They want to do the least amount of work for most amount of money. It’s rife within the industry. Make as many excuses as you want. Say it’s “complicated” but plenty of companies manage to not fall into these traps.

I’ve been gaming since 80s I’m well aware of gaming issues right back to then and greed and crunch are nothing new - see “ET” on Atari.

However we had got to a slightly better place. In the last 5 years or so it’s all gone to pot again. The industry has changed. The bubble will burst and it will get better. Chasing the low hanging fruit will be shown to be a quicker way to loses and failures and we will see some improvement.

Something has got to give though.

Re: Random: This Fan's Enormous Nintendo Collection Makes All Others Look Tiny

Stocksy

The modern “collector” which means YouTuber… which means “influencer”. Part of the joy of being a gamer and building a collection (which is different from being a collector) is that it’s a journey. If you spend 100k in a week you aren’t don’t have a collection…. You just bought a load of stuff. There is nothing special to that. Collections have stories. It’s personal.

YouTubers buy stuff to show it off and get clicks and income. Some YouTubers don’t even then keep the stuff it’s a collection for a specific video or series of videos.

Added to all that…. I’m team open games and play them.

I started on the switch buying everything - over 400 physical games now and I realised it’s stupid. I buy now what I want.

A fool and his money is soon parted

Re: Random: GQ Calls Video Game Patches "Laziness", And People Are Not Impressed

Stocksy

@RetroOutcast 100%. Exactly a perfect point on testing again this is “lazy” - not properly being tested is lazy. I don’t know who is being lazy…. Are testers lazy? Are they doing testing right - and their findings ignored? Who knows. Probably different game to game.

I believe the gaming media takes some blame. Day one patches are forgiven and when a game is patched to a working state gaming news sites often heap praise on companies for “supporting the title” - so it gets a boost in sales. So they have the natural day one sales and the name of the game is back in media everytime a patched is released and praised.

So patches to “fix” games are seen as a good marketing tool.

Star Wars KOTOR II is a classic example of how reviewers (including here) heaped praise on a game and then weeks later we find out you can’t complete the game. How was it tested? How was it reviewed? I thought reviewers completed games? Clearly not.

I’d say that “laziness” is rife in the industry and the fact this random GQ article triggered so many shows it hit home.

Games are announced 5 years before they are released… why? Hype… presale money earlier. It’s bonkers.

A lot of the blame lies with us the gamers. We accept grubby practises we moan about and still buy buy buy. I do believe the industry is in a decline in quality and quantity and I’m not sure how it will stop its own slide and Greed is the driving factor now

Re: Random: GQ Calls Video Game Patches "Laziness", And People Are Not Impressed

Stocksy

See what has happened here is the classic - “we will take offence because we don’t understand how the English language works”

It’s clear day one patches and the broken state games come in is “laziness” however that doesn’t mean it’s aimed at the programmers.

I believe it’s a practise that stinks of laziness and greed but from the senior management. It’s clear the gaming industry is in a state. The workers are constantly moaning and saying how bad the crunch is and how the toxic environment of these places to work is….

Games are released broken, scaled back or delayed delayed delayed.

Xbox has bought up loads of companies and been unable to get an exclusive out in 2022.

Something has gone wrong in the industry.

I don’t have the answers but lazy and greedy management is clearly a massive issue. I’d say at the point that’s a fact.

If that triggers you. Sorry not sorry

Re: Mario Strikers: Battle League Update Adds Daisy, Shy Guy, And More

Stocksy

@steventonysmith you’ve missed nearly of all my points. The point is, and history shows this, Nintendo hits gold. Times are good; they get arrogant forget what people want and then their sales suffer often the sales after games that are lacklustre. So people were rightly excited for this and purchased. Once again it’s a bare bones disappointing game. Statistics prove “causal” gamers don’t buy game after game. They have a few core games and buy the odd game after.

The point I was making is that whilst multiplayer and fun co op style sofa games are of course vital and appeal to certain demographics. Games like this can easily have what would seem meaty solo content but in all reality would not take much more investment. Instead it seems the easiest laziest route seems taken.

It amounts to what feels like a demo disk.

Re: Mario Strikers: Battle League Update Adds Daisy, Shy Guy, And More

Nintendo just doesn’t understand a big part of its loyal fan base. A big percentage of us loved Nintendo because of their dedication to producing solid solo player experiences. They give us bare (dry) bones now.

This game could and should have become an essential purchase for most users in football loving nations.

Re: Nintendo Formally Acknowledges Same-Sex Marriage, Despite Japanese Law

Stocksy

@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed it’s a nightmare mate. Especially if the wheelchair user can’t use a toilet. Changing our daughter is a nightmare. “Changing places” are getting better and in more places but not everywhere. I’m a big sports fan and would have taken my family to many sports events by now. I’ve had to send emails and chase and even raise it with heads of sporting associations just to get to be able to sit together as a family. Even then sometimes the solutions aren’t perfect. With my wife and daughter told the can be in the row in front and not actually sat with us.

Restaurants are a nightmare. Even if entrances are wheelchair friendly the table lay out inside is rarely.

Theme parks - forget it.

We flew to America before the pandemic and went to Disney. The plane was a nightmare even though staff were amazing. Disney was ok but even then on the few rides she could go on we were sat away from her. She is 8?!?!? Bonkers. Universal was a terrible experience and we were treated very badly.

Re: Nintendo Formally Acknowledges Same-Sex Marriage, Despite Japanese Law

Stocksy

@Dezzy70 it’s easy not to see things to be honest and many of those impacted won’t share experiences with fear of rocking the boat.

Being disabled is a nightmare in the U.K. - simple things like sitting with your family at a football match. - you can sit with a “carer” but not more than that. Same at concerts etc.

So many areas aren’t wheelchair accessible.

My daughter is in a wheelchair and I can tell you everything from healthcare to normal day to day stuff is a constant fight.

Having spoke to others in other groups that we would say could be discriminated against things are grim for them too.

Re: Nintendo Formally Acknowledges Same-Sex Marriage, Despite Japanese Law

Stocksy

@Rambler you are spot on mate. People that say stupid stuff like “everyone should be treated the same and no statements on discrimination” is exactly the description of discrimination. Everyone is not the same. Different groups and types of people have different needs. The most important thing is not seeing this as added costs or a faf or anything else. It’s about enabling the whole of society to be engaged.

The whole “I’m colour/sexuality/gender and disability blind and I wish everyone was” is so naive. Ignoring the differences between us is just as damaging. Understanding each other’s needs is most important not pretending ignoring differences and not catering for them and expecting all others to fit into your norms.

Oh the outcry at a possible outcry.

Everything is ridiculous, it’s ridiculous that people might say it’s ridiculous to release a game where you fight Russian soldiers when Russia is invading Europe.

It’s ridiculous to guess at that it’s ridiculous that people might says it’s ridiculous to release a game when you fight Russian soldiers.

I’m angry, they are angry, those other might be angry if it happens.

Oh the anger, the outcry, the ridiculousness.

It’s all very hard to keep up with. Who is actually angry? Who is actually causing an outcry? Who is ridiculous?

It’s a tangled web.

I’ll work it out, for England, James.

Any sports game. All the driving games. Mario kart is the ultimate for a quick race and gone.

Animal crossing is the complete opposite an absolute time drain that doesn’t respect your time and expects you to commit your life to it.

Re: Portal Modders Have Already Got Half-Life 2 Running On Switch

Stocksy

Would be amazing to get Half Life 2 on switch. Didn’t expect portal to be £13. Shareholders must be going mad. You can’t sell old games for a reasonable price it’s the law. It cheapens the brand. Opens door to piracy or whatever else apologists usually spout when a sloppy port gets a 50 quid price tag!

“Innocent until proven guilty”

The evidence is in the public domain. He calls the shots - investigated himself and found himself innocent.

So in your eyes he is innocent?

Ridiculous

The system and companies protect horrible entitled little grubs like this man.

Educate yourself and not just spout soundbites because you don’t believe abuse happens and only a criminal case can prove guilt of any wrongdoing… unfortunately abuse cases are far more complex than that. Try reading up on it.

Re: Aspyr Says It's Aware Of Star Wars: KOTOR II Switch Crash Preventing Players From Completing The Game

Stocksy

@Waluigi451 this game you can do in under 30 hours. I’m shocked reviewers didn’t finish it - as it is a gripping story and you’d hope they put someone who likes

A - retro games
B - RPGs
C - Star Wars

Hopefully all three or at least two.

Perhaps they don’t have the right mix of staff. I tick all those boxes and would have completed before submitting a review
