@Yakuboto it’s strange that people don’t understand…. Modern controls do not make this game better…. The n64 controller does. The game was designed and made for it and it’s perfect. It works. Maybe more than any other game that a controller and a game fit perfect. That was by design.
7 articles on goldeneye. Superb. Makes me visit the site more. It’s a website about Nintendo and Goldeneye is without a doubt one the the best Nintendo historic titles of all time. Its release to current gen consoles is massive and I am glad, like many others, you have taken many angles looking at its new release. Thank you NL.
@glaemay exactly. I never understand people that say this hasn’t aged well or is flawed. They play modern FPS where it’s all dancing round and ridiculous damage and movement. This game gets it right, not modern FPS. Most of which are horrible grind fests designed merely to get you to part with more and more cash in Microtransactions.
They are addictive, not fun, this is fun and addictive.
It’s a game that had perfect level design. Perfect pacing. Perfect difficulty levels and was designed to work perfectly with the n64 controller.
Modern games especially FPS wish they could have this level of care and design given to them. Perfect to the source material. No nonsense. No gimmicks. No grind. Just a purely fun experience.
Played it recently on n64 with N64 remote. Aged beautifully.. it’s near perfect game design with perfect controller for it. Modern FPS still haven’t captured the same magic.
It’ll take people that have never played it a while to get used to the controls but it’s worth it when it clicks.
Just don’t be oddjob in multiplayer…. It’s against the unwritten rules.
Those that say they’ve played it recently and it’s aged badly…. Really have no idea.
I always feel crowds for these events are proportionate to the effort the company puts in. Word spread that there was no freebies, no fanfare, no event. People won’t turn up. You can order it online for cheaper. People aren’t stupid. Generally.
Put an event on. Staff tell others and word spreads. You get a crowd. Staff tell people “no we aren’t doing anything special” zero buzz is created.
Most people into launches will go into stores or check before putting in too much effort.
Completing it in 24 mins seems a stretch to me. Using exploits and loops holes? I was always a fan of a speed run being playing the game as intending, not using bugs or warps or skips, I really don’t see the fun in completing this game in that time and repeating over and over. No real skill is it? Just speed cheating?
I guess if he enjoys himself and people like watching it where is the harm.
Let’s be honest what’s the point in any video games but fun. If he is having fun good on him.
Quinn if you are reading this… I didn’t follow you… I’ve only just found out about it here. I’ve never seen the show and I’ve been inspired to look it out and watch it by you.
@SalvorHardin played it this week on steam deck. Completed the first batch on missions in the Homer level and just started the Bart level. Zero complaints. It’s still a great game. Never sure what people mean when a game hasn’t aged well. There are no alternatives to this game. At all. Very little to compare it to to say any such thing. It hasn’t got loads of paid cosmetics, it isn’t a shallow grind fest…. And no achievements….
All three are ticks from me. It’s a good game with loads to explore and loads of actual unlockables.
Having spent a LOT of money with this company I can you they are awful. People that apologise for LRG and defend them just simply refuse to see the issues with both the model and the service…. The fact the people that work for LRG are horrible too doesn’t really help.
Comments section is even funnier now the video has been restored. Nintendo wouldn’t do it if they couldn’t, their legal team is best, they don’t make mistakes, it’s their duty to “protect” their IP. NDAs are involved.
Lmao
The well informed Nintendo gatekeepers making one or two bold statements that turned out to be hogwash as usual.
I’m no fan of the influencer model of reporting but the people that defend Nintendo whatever even thought stuff like this happens over and over. Perhaps learn from your mistakes and don’t quote legal nonsense you have no idea about on the next article that’s similar. You look like a fool at this point.
Legal eagles on here make me smile. Big long posts about how “they understand the law” and they will explain it all to us and then post complete boot licking twaddle.
Nintendo can shut this down. It’s clear coz they have. This does not mean it’s right. Plenty of “laws” or “threats using the law” are in grey areas and the smaller party won’t be able to fight it. Often large companies know they might actually not legally win these cases but they know they can throw money at it to make it go away. Nintendo rarely care about if legally they can win. Just can they win.
It’s ok to think the art style is a big mistake and still want to play the game. Don’t know why people are so precious about people saying they preferred the old art style.
@MrCookieCrisps I always chuckle when people praise FTP titles. Especially ones I’ve tried and experienced the real grind. I don’t mind playing a game. Even racing same tracks. I’m old it’s what we used to do but some of these FTP titles make early arcade coin guzzlers look generous. People are suckers to be suckers I guess.
The roster for this is terrible. Like intentionally bad. The roster of iconic character that sit under the Disney umbrella this should have an epic list of racers and should be a packed roster day one.
Everything screams lazy cheap grab for FTP low hanging fruit
Play it but don’t pay for extras. It only encourages them
Thanks for this review. I wanted to know if MyEras made it. I will wait for the sale as it didn’t and get this on ps5 instead. I was on fence which version to get. The Jordan mode looks great 2k11 was great and 12 with the similar mode and then they just dumped it. Glad it’s back.
MyEras is next level though. That’s gonna get played a lot.
1080 and Goldeneye were standard for me back in the day. With Diddy Kong racing, top gear racing, beetle adventure racing, Mario kart, rogue squadron and wave race.
It’s a shame we don’t all get the same content or at the very least they don’t get some west only released games to balance it out. There were a few back in those days that didn’t get world wide releases.
@Beaucine agree with all that. I have the n64 controller for switch but haven’t used it much as I only got it on the last batch. I struggled with wave race on joycons. I love that game. I need to see if I get some muscle memory from countless hours back in the day trying to beat my best time
@quinnyboy58 I think I only did it with help of a mate back in the day. I’ll have no chance with my old man eyes. I’ll have fun doing the lower and giving up on 007 quickly. I’ll end up doing it over and over on agent again at my age. Acting like a boss. The first two were doable right? Then there were two super hard ones? Or one was editable?
No this game has never been matched. Still as fun as it was all those years ago. If your playing it on a n64 controller it’s aged fine. If your not you are doing life wrong anyway.
I love them, I miss them because I’ve grown up and have strict gaming rules which includes not having so many “rules” and just enjoying gaming…. There are enough rules in the world. Let gaming be fun.
Gaming mags embrace that and these adverts are a bit of fun.
Can I afford it. Fortunately yes. Am I ordering - no. I own all the mini consoles but this one is pretty much doing everything wrong and is a very cynical release.
The whole industry is stumbling towards a low effort high price model and it wasn’t always that way. It’s a fairly recent thing.
The JAP version game list isn’t helping matters.
Good luck if this ticks your boxes. I would say I’ll pick it up cheaper down the road but they’ve ramped up scarcity to charge more. Grubby little beasts.
I have the black limited edition ordered and I’m delighted with this brucie bonus extra. I have original and vs and had fun with both. I also own other devices that I can hoist the jolly Rodger on and the evercade still has appeal.
@GrailUK I’m not sure if you are being serious or not. When they say it’s the only way - they mean negotiating with capcom having the games built in was the only deal they could get them to sign. They have said they are still talking to capcom and hope to get a deal for carts/other games.
So I’m not sure why this is against their original mission statement.

@DaniPooo many people own a n64 controller and it’s fantastic. So we vote fantastic.

@marsbitrona Xbox can do no wrong. The loudest voices on the internet gatekeep and protect anything and everything Xbox with all their might.
Nintendo on the other hand-
“For kids”
“Greedy”
“Lazy”
Etc.
I’m used to it now.
I say this as a Xbox series X owner and a GPU subscriber

Re: Lara Croft's Tomb Raider Switch Spin-Offs Have Been Delayed To 2023
People still struggle that people buy games on a switch to play in handheld.
How do people not understand that.
Most my fave games on switch have been on other consoles.
Playing on the switch suits me and the flexibility to play whenever.
Similar reasons as to why I bought a steam deck.
Not everyone can play on a big screen all the time

The maths on this is all fudged up. If it wasn’t for the last table I’d have gone away thinking the ps5 and Xbox were almost unplayable.
