That thing does look cool but not $1000 cool. With $1000 it must be able to natively play the entire Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Steam library in addition to having an OLED screen, 2tb of storage, 32gb ram, a handle so to be able to play Playdate games naturally, a paddle so to be able to play Pong naturally, and a portable grill oven so I could cook my roasted chicken while I'm playing. Now that's $1000 worth of feature for a powerful hungry player, not this Ally crap which is just another ROG Windows device that'll likely failed once its Tesla style battery explode or get infected by malware in less than 2 years.
Even with a more powerful hardware they still suck by not improving anything from Legends Arceus. Either they are too afraid to improve or choose not to. There are no excuse for them this time. This game is lazy at its finest. It's not that the visuals are awful but that the main issue is due to the fact that it still has performance issue even on the $450 garbage that was the Switch 2, heck even the $350 Steam Deck had games that looks and ran better than this. The only hope for this game is if the story is decent, if not it's just a cash grab and not really anything special. Pokemon games hasn't been good since Sun and Moon on 3DS.
@KayFiOS Tbh these games has always had physical releases from the get go, they just were not available in North America. When these games first came out after their Nintendo Direct showing, only Asia and Japan had physical releases of these but those are multi-language release with no tariffs involvement so importing them back then was a non-issue at the time.
While I already got these physical from Play-Asia already, it's nice that they are finally coming to NA in an official capacity. Still at the very least they could had bundle them together into one neat physical package on a single cartridge instead of separating them to two cartridges. All of them together is only 12gb (FFVII is 3.9gb, FFVIII Remastered is only 3.1gb, and FFIX is only 5gb) surely a 16gb cartridge would had work out just fine.
@Fighting_Game_Loser Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles physical release for Switch 2 in Japan was a code in the box though, not a game key card. The reason why it doesn't sell as well as the Switch 1 version was cause most people would rather just buy the Switch 1 physical release and then use the free upgrade from that for the Switch 2. Those who bought into the scummy Switch 2 physical release were surprise cause there were no game key card message printed on the case like the other ones so those customers who bought it were caught unaware as they were expecting a full game on cartridge, instead it's just a code in a box. Words are already spread and the Switch 2 version will be gone from the chart by next week. They won't be making that same mistake with Dragon Quest I & II though.
@NFrealinkling Not only is it Japan only but you'll need mouse control to play it. The game is a point and click game similar to Lemmings, King Arthur's World, and the Lost Vikings.
I mostly try to buy 2-5 new games per year but will get at least 8-12 games (old, new, or retro) during a sales or Black Friday. I also will try to get physical version as much as I could but if digital is all it had at the moment (such as the case with Hollow Knight: Silksong, Fast Fusion, and Onimusha 2 Remastered) then that'll be fine too.
Nice to have Super NES version of Fatal Fury Special here especially since the Super NES version is the only one that had online play and you can also play as the hidden guest fighter, Ryo Sakazaki from Art of Fighting 2 which you can't in the offline only ACA NeoGeo version.
@LazyDaisy Nintendo already mention that they don't care jack about ever beating the PS2 sales figure, they only care if the system sell whether with a price increase or not.
They really should just make this a sequel and not a reimagine of the original cause now it's still just the first game again with mediocre performance like before. You can polish a mediocre game all you want but if you can't fix the performance, what's mediocre will still stay mediocre no matter how good it looks. Better graphics doesn't a good game make.
Hopefully we get an Ogre Battle Collection at some point with Ogre Batte: March of the Black Queen (Super NES, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn), Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber (Nintendo 64), and Ogre Battle Gaiden: Prince of Zenobia (NeoGeo Pocket Color).
@ShadLink The original Switch had tons of horror games, in fact there's too much horror games on Switch than past Nintendo systems. The issue is that most of those aren't popular enough.
I still failed to understand why they need to remastered this for Switch 2 so soon. They could had take their time with the Switch 2 version, I mean it's really not that long ago that we got Persona 3 Portable. It's only like two years ago that we got that game.
Anyone with decent knowledge of Japanese might spot that the very game's title translates to 'Protagonist' and that the three main characters are all named Shu, Jin, and Kou.
Interesting, now I know why Mortal Kombat Deception's new main character in Konquest Mode got the name he did. I knew Ed Boon was hiding some secrets about that name.
@RareFan It's not just because it's Mario. It's because the Mario brand in general had always being synonymous with quality. Sonic racing games doesn't had the same positive track record as Mario Kart, while there are some Sonic racing games that are decent or good, a majority of them are likely garbage or terrible whereas there were no bad Mario Kart games. Every Mario Kart games had been great which is why even if there are good Sonic racing games every once in a while, its past track record of having garbage result will make most people think twice before buying hence why Sonic Racing CrossWorlds doesn't sell as much as Mario Kart World. It could also be that Mario Kart World had been out earlier and Sonic Racing CrossWorlds had just recently release so not many know of its quality yet. Only time will tell how both will turn out later this gen.
@GinMiguel I think in mainland Europe and Brazil, Sonic games are better saleswise than Mario games as Sonic games typically dropped in price over time and the value of Sonic games become affordable while Mario games despite being great games rarely ever dropped in price and thus not as affordable to the European and Brazillian audience so not many would get to play them.
Nice to see Sonic Racing CrossWorlds in the top ten chart and beating Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well for now. This goes to show power is nothing when it comes to the Japanese audience as the Switch version is the best one of the bunch when it comes to convenient, preservation, and accessibility. Another evidence that Japanese doesn't like game key card is EA Sports FC 26. While the Switch version got some sales, the Switch 2 version that is a game key garbage was heavily ignored by the masses. Hopefully with the Saudi in charge of EA soon they will get rid of this focus on game key card releases. While I don't like the Saudi owning multiple companies as much as the other guy, if them owning EA means the games will get better than they would deserve praise for it.
Yeah this is a game where it's better to get the Switch 2 edition since that one won't be a game key card. Unless you really want to try this game early, I say go with any of the other versions except the Switch one.
As long as these garbage spinoffs don't affect the main games I'm okay with them existing just so to shut the shareholders up so they don't come after and ruin the main games which are the true crown jewels of Nintendo consoles.
The reason why I didn't throw money for this game was cause it's a Google Stadia exclusive game done wrong on Switch (unlike Gylt which was done right and deserving of my money). Making it online only just doesn't work very well, on top of latency and lags that carry over from Stadia to Switch, you get worst graphics as well and they want money for all this? Yeah not gonna happen and this game won't be miss either.
Well everyone is waiting for Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Switch and now they got it. Super Mario Galaxy 1 is only included for those who miss out on the Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Kinda sad for those who still wanted Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine as those will never be available for purchase ever again in this lifetime. Both are stuck to NSO and you're force to buy a Switch 2 if you want to play Super Mario Sunshine.
Nice that they did this especially since Triangle Strategy was indeed a spiritual successor to the legendary Tactics Ogre, the game that Final Fantasy Tactics, Metal Slug Tactics, and Onimusha Tactics were all build off of.
I honestly don't know any memorable moment this guy brought to the Switch or NOA (compare to Reggie Fils-Aime) other than him having the iconic Bowser surname but have a good retirement nonetheless. My hope is that Devon Pritchard bring some fun excitement to Switch 2 within NOA.
@Ultimapunch It's cheaper cause it's fake. Counterfeit. Garbage. Remember instead of buying a legit copy of a game from an actual store and some people rather buy a counterfeit from AliExpress instead. Well Game Key Card is just that, it's cheaper but the cheaper part is not for you the customer, the cheaper part is for the dev only. When you support this practice, you support the fact that you are getting scam and feel happy about it. You are allowing it to happened. When AliExpress sell you a fake game, they are selling you the fake game, not the dev. You are saving money with the fake cause you're not getting a legit copy. Yes the cart is fake but you still get the game for the cheap value. Now it's the other way around, now Nintendo is selling the fake cartridge to the dev in able to sell you the fake game. With game key card you still get the fake game but now you are paying more for it unlike the AliExpress situation where you get it for cheap. You are not saving money or value with game key card.
Oh well the PS5 did good last week but I guess without any worthwhile games to keep people playing no one is sticking around for more of it. October is Dragon Quest I & II month so we'll see how that goes for Switch and PS5, I doubt anyone is getting the Switch 2 port of those.
Either way I'm still not buying this on Switch 2 if it's on Game Key Card. Cyberpunk 2077 was on a real cartridge and it plays wonderfully so yeah no excuse there Square Enix.
@AussieMcBucket Well kinda but Dynasty Warriors 3 did set the standard for the series going forward. Do realize that before Dynasty Warriors 3, Dynasty Warriors 2 itself was only a single player game with shorter missions. Dynasty Warriors 3 introduced split screen co-op, a lot more playable fighters, and longer missions. Probably one of my favorite PS2 Musou game back in 2001. Even though this is Dynasty Warriors 3, this is actually the second Musou game in the series and the best one at that since Dynasty Warriors 1 is a fighting game and Dynasty Warriors 2 is the first in the Musou franchise and this one fix the issue in the 1st one (again not Dynasty Warriors 1). Definitely buying it day one.
Hope they make that Hori joycon with a d-pad soon, that's the only thing I am waiting for before I buy one. I don't like playing the thing with those directional buttons.
Yakuza is a meh series now, even worst being subdue and trapped in garbage like game key card means I will never buy them. Sorry Sega and Nintendo next time actually listen to your customers cause you ain't seeing me buying those pile of feaces. I would rather wait until the Switch 2 is dead and pirate those games myself than to pay money for fake games.
Already got this pre-order for Switch so hopefully it arrive next week. In the mean time I will be playing the Steam version once that one became available.
@MyMemory Lesson learn from this gen, don't buy a kart racer that had the word "world" anywhere in its title whether with or without an "s" and attach or non-attach to another word. It would only get worst going forward.
@Orpheus79V Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transform is actually not available for purchase in the old store front anymore. Yes you can re-download it if you bought it before and if your account hasn't been banned but nah I check the store, it's not there anymore. You can't buy it anymore. Also this title had third party license character like Creeper from Minecraft in the base game so yeah if Sega ever choose not to renew the Minecraft partnership then the game is likely in jeopardy if delisting is the only option. The fact the game had license properties also mean gamers who got into the game later in its run will not be able to get the earlier or later DLC if the license for those aren't renew by Sega.
@Midna4Life I didn't forget about that title, but from the sound of the title itself it sounded more like a Twisted Metal type of game (vehicle battle and mayhem instead of racing) rather than a Mario Kart type of game (racing and mayhem). Maybe I'll try it out soon if it really was like Mario Kart.
I had not buy or play a WWE game since Day of Reckoning 2 and it looks like going forward that ain't gonna change any time soon. The pro wrestling industry nowadays are just as worst as the gaming industry now. You don't get passionate matches, storylines, and superstars like you did in the past just like you don't get passionate games with fantastic storyline, innovation, and gameplay like those of the past too. Greed had took over both industries and it looks like soon the pillars that holds everything are gonna crumble soon.
At this rate it's better to just wait for Street Fighter 6: Champion Edition or Ultra Street Fighter 6. If they had DLC you know they'll be an edition with all DLCs included at some point. Just hope that by that point it won't be a game key card a.k.a. garbage.
