Re: Japanese Charts: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Can't Compete With Mario Kart World

Serpenterror

@RareFan It's not just because it's Mario. It's because the Mario brand in general had always being synonymous with quality. Sonic racing games doesn't had the same positive track record as Mario Kart, while there are some Sonic racing games that are decent or good, a majority of them are likely garbage or terrible whereas there were no bad Mario Kart games. Every Mario Kart games had been great which is why even if there are good Sonic racing games every once in a while, its past track record of having garbage result will make most people think twice before buying hence why Sonic Racing CrossWorlds doesn't sell as much as Mario Kart World. It could also be that Mario Kart World had been out earlier and Sonic Racing CrossWorlds had just recently release so not many know of its quality yet. Only time will tell how both will turn out later this gen.

Re: Japanese Charts: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Can't Compete With Mario Kart World

Serpenterror

@GinMiguel I think in mainland Europe and Brazil, Sonic games are better saleswise than Mario games as Sonic games typically dropped in price over time and the value of Sonic games become affordable while Mario games despite being great games rarely ever dropped in price and thus not as affordable to the European and Brazillian audience so not many would get to play them.

Re: Japanese Charts: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Can't Compete With Mario Kart World

Serpenterror

Nice to see Sonic Racing CrossWorlds in the top ten chart and beating Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well for now. This goes to show power is nothing when it comes to the Japanese audience as the Switch version is the best one of the bunch when it comes to convenient, preservation, and accessibility. Another evidence that Japanese doesn't like game key card is EA Sports FC 26. While the Switch version got some sales, the Switch 2 version that is a game key garbage was heavily ignored by the masses. Hopefully with the Saudi in charge of EA soon they will get rid of this focus on game key card releases. While I don't like the Saudi owning multiple companies as much as the other guy, if them owning EA means the games will get better than they would deserve praise for it.

Re: Bandai Namco Is Shutting Down Another Pac-Man Battle Royale Game On Switch

Serpenterror

The reason why I didn't throw money for this game was cause it's a Google Stadia exclusive game done wrong on Switch (unlike Gylt which was done right and deserving of my money). Making it online only just doesn't work very well, on top of latency and lags that carry over from Stadia to Switch, you get worst graphics as well and they want money for all this? Yeah not gonna happen and this game won't be miss either.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 On Switch

Serpenterror

Well everyone is waiting for Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Switch and now they got it. Super Mario Galaxy 1 is only included for those who miss out on the Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Kinda sad for those who still wanted Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine as those will never be available for purchase ever again in this lifetime. Both are stuck to NSO and you're force to buy a Switch 2 if you want to play Super Mario Sunshine.

Re: Game-Key Cards A "Sales Strategy Decision", Says Resident Evil Requiem Director

Serpenterror

@Ultimapunch It's cheaper cause it's fake. Counterfeit. Garbage. Remember instead of buying a legit copy of a game from an actual store and some people rather buy a counterfeit from AliExpress instead. Well Game Key Card is just that, it's cheaper but the cheaper part is not for you the customer, the cheaper part is for the dev only. When you support this practice, you support the fact that you are getting scam and feel happy about it. You are allowing it to happened. When AliExpress sell you a fake game, they are selling you the fake game, not the dev. You are saving money with the fake cause you're not getting a legit copy. Yes the cart is fake but you still get the game for the cheap value. Now it's the other way around, now Nintendo is selling the fake cartridge to the dev in able to sell you the fake game. With game key card you still get the fake game but now you are paying more for it unlike the AliExpress situation where you get it for cheap. You are not saving money or value with game key card.

Re: Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered Is Coming To Switch 2 And Switch In 2026

Serpenterror

@AussieMcBucket Well kinda but Dynasty Warriors 3 did set the standard for the series going forward. Do realize that before Dynasty Warriors 3, Dynasty Warriors 2 itself was only a single player game with shorter missions. Dynasty Warriors 3 introduced split screen co-op, a lot more playable fighters, and longer missions. A ton of RPG elements were not introduced yet until DW3 and most things such as weapon drops and bow and arrows were introduced in Dynasty Warriors 3.

Re: Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered Is Coming To Switch 2 And Switch In 2026

Serpenterror

Probably one of my favorite PS2 Musou game back in 2001. Even though this is Dynasty Warriors 3, this is actually the second Musou game in the series and the best one at that since Dynasty Warriors 1 is a fighting game and Dynasty Warriors 2 is the first in the Musou franchise and this one fix the issue in the 1st one (again not Dynasty Warriors 1). Definitely buying it day one.

Re: Another Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Collab Appears To Have Been Revealed

Serpenterror

@Orpheus79V Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transform is actually not available for purchase in the old store front anymore. Yes you can re-download it if you bought it before and if your account hasn't been banned but nah I check the store, it's not there anymore. You can't buy it anymore. Also this title had third party license character like Creeper from Minecraft in the base game so yeah if Sega ever choose not to renew the Minecraft partnership then the game is likely in jeopardy if delisting is the only option. The fact the game had license properties also mean gamers who got into the game later in its run will not be able to get the earlier or later DLC if the license for those aren't renew by Sega.

Re: WWE 2K25 Online Shutdown Date Revealed Just Months After Switch 2 Release

Serpenterror

I had not buy or play a WWE game since Day of Reckoning 2 and it looks like going forward that ain't gonna change any time soon. The pro wrestling industry nowadays are just as worst as the gaming industry now. You don't get passionate matches, storylines, and superstars like you did in the past just like you don't get passionate games with fantastic storyline, innovation, and gameplay like those of the past too. Greed had took over both industries and it looks like soon the pillars that holds everything are gonna crumble soon.

Re: Do Bananza And Odyssey Share The Same Pauline? Donkey Kong Dev Won't Confirm Anything

Serpenterror

My fan theory is this:

  • Pauline Mangione in Donkey Kong = girlfriend of Jumpman and mother of Mario
  • Pauline Murphy in Odyssey = sister of Mario's mother
  • Pauline Michaels in Mario Kart = sister of sister of Mario's mother
  • Pauline Murdock in Bananza = younger sister of the sister of the sister of Mario's mother.

They are like the Officer Jennies and Nurse Joys of Pokémon, there are lot of them, they are all related, they all had the same similar interest (singing), and they share the same name and look-a-likes.

Re: Another Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Collab Appears To Have Been Revealed

Serpenterror

The fact that this game had so many license characters also means that it could be a title that risk getting delisted in the near future if the license ever expired or Sega choose not to renew the license. This is also the same issue Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transform face later down the line when it too got delisted from PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 storefronts. Hopefully it last longer.

Re: SNK Announces ACA NEOGEO Selection Vol. 9 And Vol. 10 For Switch

Serpenterror

Considering the NeoGeo only had 150 total games (not counting bootlegs, homebrews, and aftermarket releases) in its entire library, we only need 5 more volumes until the collection is finally considered complete. Still with Far East of Eden: Kabuki Klash, Double Dragon, Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer, and Power Instinct Matrimelee still missing, we probably won't get the full 15 volumes of all NeoGeo games.

Re: Mini Review: Gloomy Eyes (Switch) - If Captain Toad Were A Cosy Horror Game

Serpenterror

@cedarhyped Yeah but you had to realize Nintendo is also the only company that make exclusive games/contents nowadays. With PlayStation and Xbox games, you don't had to own a PlayStation or Xbox consoles to play those anymore hence why they could lower their prices. Nintendo still make exclusive games so you had to own their systems to play those. Also since those games are only exclusive to their platform, it only make since that they charge more for those.

Team Cherry was able to charge only $20 on Hollow Knight: Silksong cause the game is widely available everywhere: PC, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5. That's 8 platforms, for every one time Silksong sell on each of those platform they already earn $160, compare that to Donkey Kong Bananza which is $70 only on Switch 2. For every one time DK Bananza sell on Switch 2, Silksong sell 8 times on other platforms, that means if DK Bananza makes $700 (10 copies sold) on one Switch 2, then Silksong already made $1600 (10 copies sold per platform) across all 8 platforms. That's why Nintendo was able to charge as much as they could and why they will never dropped the prices.

Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 Surpasses 2 Million Units Sold

Serpenterror

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Minecraft are both immortal on the Switch Japanese chart now. Literally no games could top both anymore. The only way any games could top them is if Nintendo discontinued the Switch systems and Switch games. Nice that the PS5 still outsell the Switch 1 on the chart but once everyone got tired of Metal Gear Solid Delta, them numbers will dropped again. Also I had a feeling no one is buying the Switch 2 for the game key card garbage, everyone is buying the Switch 2 to make their Switch 1 games run better or to just play Nintendo's first and second party titles. That's what I would do at the moment. No way am I touching game key card no matter what excuses they'll make up.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's GBA Library With Two More Titles

Serpenterror

Nice to see GBA versions of Mr. Driller 2 and Klonoa: Empire of Dreams. Two of my 50 top GBA third party games of all time right beside Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure, Sonic Advance 2, Sigma Star Saga, Riviera: The Promised Land, Final Fantasy VI Advance, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Ninja Five-0, TMNT, Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition, Rayman Advance, Crash Nitro Kart, Godzilla: Domination, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Spyro: Season of Flame, Doom 1 & 2, Metal Slug Advance and more.

Re: Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection Sells 1 Million Copies

Serpenterror

@Suketoudara The thing is Nintendo doesn't control which Street Fighter game to be included on NSO. That same game was included for NSO cause it was also included in the Sega Genesis Mini and so it's easier to just put that there. It's likely the Super NES versions of those games would come later but not all at once.

Re: Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection Sells 1 Million Copies

Serpenterror

@SalvorHardin It's likely Capcom released the MARVEL vs. Capcom Fighting Collection in response to Maximilian Dood's Free MARVEL vs. Capcom 2 campaign and not really about them planning a new entry in the MARVEL vs. Capcom series. If anything the MARVEL vs. Capcom series is as good as done. They could still remastered MARVEL vs. Capcom 3 or Ultimate MARVEL vs. Capcom 3 or the two Super NES games for PS5, Switch 2, and Steam but I doubt they'll make a new entry in the MARVEL vs. Capcom series any time soon. The MARVEL gaming license is now in the hands of Arc System Works and DotEmu so Capcom can't do anything new with those IPs at the moment.

Re: Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection Sells 1 Million Copies

Serpenterror

@liljmoore In those collections you can turn off secret characters and then pretend that you're in the 90s by unlocking them the normal way. For example in MARVEL vs. Capcom 1, if you turn off secret characters, that means you won't get to pick them easily, instead you had to use the original arcade codes to unlock them. Same thing for the Akuma code in X-Men: Children of the Atom, if you don't want to easily pick him, just turn off the secret characters and then you can use the Akuma code from the PS1 or Sega Saturn to play as him instead.

By doing this you will never get to play as Juggernaut and Magneto cause both had no playable codes in that game. In MARVEL vs. Capcom 2 if you turn secret characters off, you can unlock them one by one by how many times you insert coins into the game. If you turn on Free Play while doing that then you won't be able to unlock them at all. It's really up to you if you want to play those games the old ways or the new ways. For most of us we just had them unlock from the get-go and just get to playing.

Re: Antonblast Appears To Be Jumping On The Virtual Boy Bandwagon

Serpenterror

This is fantastic and I hope more games do more stuff like this for their games. Makes the Virtual Boy accessory feel a lot more valuable now if more and more games support it even if it's just an extra mode. I could see games like Tempest 4000, a Punch-Out Out!! Wireframe Mode, and Akka Arrh works very well with this VB mode in mind.
