Poor Steamworld. They were on fire with the first four titles, and then some missteps led to a hiatus of interest in the franchise. I feel like Steamworld Heist 2 was too late, and kind of carries some baggage from titles released since Dig 2.
Maybe I’m just someone who feels like I “understand the games” better than Thunderful, but I can say that’s why I fell off
Rip!!! His Meowth was vital to that sort of zany energy that makes Pokémon so special. I love whenever anime dubs take swings like that, and it would have been much lesser without him.
I am heading to Midwest Gaming Classic right here in Milwaukee! Hopefully I discover some interesting finds while digging through the stalls, and this afternoon there will be a live taping of Retronauts!
In gaming time, I’m playing a lot of Ghost Trick. I just started it last night and am quite loving it! The story is so fun and the mechanics are unique and exciting. Also it a little bit takes me back to TWEWY in the way it has an effortless “cool” that I would be pleased to be spotted playing on my DS in a cafe.
@Not_Soos hey man, I’d love to have a reasonable discussion with you. I don’t think a comments section is a good place though. You’re a streamer right?
This one and Deltarune both threw me off. I’m happy we get them both on both systems… but I really just wanted more clarity about backwards compatibility
I think there is enough there to keep me excited - also Summer Gamesfest is like 2 months away
I’m a little mad that we didn’t get a price, or prices for the upgrades, and also that they kept saying that only certain games are compatible. Makes me nervous.
I wanted a direct to explain EVERYTHING. Maybe that was a poor expectation
I am not typically a “no remake, just new game!” Person. However Final Fantasy 9 needs a remake least of that entire franchise
It was made as a combination of the SNES style FF games, with then modern graphics. I think what I’d rather see is the harnessing of similar sensibilities where they make a modern looking final fantasy that played like a SNES game. I think it would be a success
Alternatively they should remake 5 or 6?? Or heck maybe this is a remake in the vein of the new 7 games? Idk I’m not super here for this one
Last week I SHOOK IT UP and talked about 4 games, but this week something amazing happened; Star Ocean 2 became incredible.
Often times in rpgs, especially if that era, the adventure is a whole lot of **things happening** and if the things are a drag then the game suffers. However the best JRPG plots are like a good anime with the different story beats playing out like multi episode arcs.
So anyway that my weekend. I hope you all have a good one!
I guess also that I might be perfectly satisfied with all of the Nintendo published Switch games! Samus Returns would be a dream but isn’t Switch The Sexy Brutale is so rad, but I can’t revisit it because the switch version is pretty rough… but it’s not first party
I’m not sure I can follow the logic that it would be difficult to justify a Mario Maker 3. I think that game shows off mouse mode. Then you bring back Amiibo support, add a wonder mode (using those dramatic 2D effects from that patent to make HD2D wonder effects on classic art styles) I think this game would have a lot to offer and effortlessly so
The way they’ve partnered with Sega is genuinely disappointing. Their website has so much garbage that is themed around Sega merchandise, I just genuinely can’t imagine it being overwhelmingly popular.
I think we may get a second Yakuza game on Switch today, and if so LRG is going to be the only way to scoop a physical copy
Ten years ago before e3, Nintendo put out a micro direct 2 weeks before their showcase. When I saw it I thought “dang” they must have so much good stuff they had to break it up! And then they just didn’t. E3 2015 was actually the worst director I remember. This probably isn’t that. But it did make me think of that
@Yoshi3 Don’t do that to me friend! I really do want to play it, but am too dumb to figure out how! Also is it really because they criticized the US President? That endears me even more, I love criticizing the President!!
A - the Animal Crossing Japanese logo is so cute. I look forward to a Box Art Brawl on that title so I can decide if I like it or USA better!
B - I am only a casual Xenoblade enjoyer, but I’d really like to give Disaster: Day if Crisis a go. I remember wishing for it when I saw it in magazines as a youth. Weirdly never brought tlUSA
@GregamanX okay, that’s fair. It’s definitely one of those “you get what you put into it” kind of games!
Thankfully I think the core is solid enough to carry to when it starts getting really excellent! Though at the same time I don’t believe people when they say “once you are X number of hours in it gets really good.” Lol how far are you?
Typically I am a “one game at a time” kinda gal, but lately I’ve been itchin to scratch so many that I’ve channeled @johnnymind this week!
Trine 5; I am just ending the fourth chapter, I reckon it’s only a jump away from the ending by now, I really feel like I have my groove with how these puzzles work
Fantasian Neo Dimension; I made it to the end of the first part. I still enjoy it, but paused it not allow myself to be overwhelmed
Bakeru, does my heart good! Perhaps Goodfeels finest effort, I love that they have a great relationship with Nintendo, I am the direct beneficiary lol
Star Ocean Second Story R; I had been craving a ps1 style rpg,and forgot this was in the stack. It’s a fine effort! I’ve never touched this series but it’s earning its place as one of the great B RPGs
@batmanbud2 on N64 games - I know some of these aren’t classics but I’d love to see them get crazy with some oddballs like they have with NES/SNES. Get Tonic Trouble, Buck Bumble, and Aidyn Chronicles on there. I just wanna mess around with them!
@beltmenot Any magazine bank rolled by the largest video game retailer can be the most popular and longest running magazine.
They were king makers for the largest publishers, and gave away their subscriptions to consumers who may not have even wanted them (but wanted the perks of being a pro memeber)
Every complaint about IGN can be leveraged against this magazine and more. Though like that website I am sure that Gamestop employed any number of interesting and talented writers, the core was rotten
I have a small number of games in the ol backlog that I have put off playing in hopes that a new console improves their performance. I don’t necessarily need higher frame rates or resolution… but if they can cut down on load times I’ll be launching Switch 2 with Eiyuden Chronicles babyyyyy

Re: Best 4K TVs For Nintendo Switch 2
@Davina_McCall I’m with you!! We’ve had a 2012 LG something or other.
It’s showing no sign of slowing down (though there are some cute features like 3D mode, or when it suggests that we ask “when is Letterman on?” Lolol)
That said… oooooooh these tvs are so tempting for upgraded hardware

Re: Nintendo Delays Switch 2 Pre-Orders In The US Amidst New Trump Tariffs
@Disobey this is not how to discuss politics in a comments section.
Re: Nintendo Delays Switch 2 Pre-Orders In The US Amidst New Trump Tariffs
@Not_Soos I think Wisconsin just showed the country the plan for the Midterms and 2028
Re: Video: Switch 2's "Faster" Load Times Showcased With Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
I am curious if any of this works out of the box or if it’s only with upgrade patches
I’ll keep an eye out for that kind of news as we get closer, but I could see myself replaying Sparks of Hope if load times were axed
Re: Surprise! The N64 App Is Also Getting Some Enhancements On Switch 2
This means I can finally play Star Fox!!!! Thank you nintendo
Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast
I think that I will still pick up the console. But perhaps this is an opportunity to become more judicious about my purchases
Re: Which Nintendo Switch Games Aren't Fully Compatible With Switch 2?
Ugh this whole direct has been so messy!
I promise I’m not just a hater, and I’m really excited for the system but we keep getting weird and unclear answers about simple things
Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting
This is why you don’t stagger information across an app and a presentation. It’s weird and unclear
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?
@Pak-Man I think that’s a reasonable expectation, I just wish that they would have said so?
Also with all the focus on switch 2 editions it’s just murkier than I’d have hoped.

I imagine with a release like this that we will also get a non limited run after the game actually comes out.
This happened with Soul Reaver as well

Re: New Nintendo Patent Is All About 2D Visuals, But Don't Jump To Any Remake Conclusions

Imagine what this could be used for to create wonder flower effects in (S)NES Mario games?
Re: Feature: "If The Game Does Not Sell Well, We May Be Done" - It's Do Or Die For Too Kyo Games & 'The Hundred Line'

voice of the SpongeBob antagonistic fish
Ooohhhhhh Brooother. This guy stinks!!!!!
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Nobunaga's Ambition (SNES)
@-wc- @SillyG
We got a Pokémon Conquest, why not a TMNT x Nobunaga’s Ambition… TMNT Tactics: No-a-bunga dudes!!!
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Nobunaga's Ambition (SNES)
I don’t think that either are particularly great, though perhaps it is the best type of box art for a strategy game about real world events.
Also my dumb American brain read this title as “No-bunga's Ambition” until embarrassingly recently lol
Re: Nintendo's Monolith Soft Updates Its Switch Portfolio With Latest Release

The switch 2 is actually the inciting incident of the apocalypse depicted in this game. If you beat it the “new ending”
Is just the switch 2 direct
Re: Rumour: Latest Switch 2 Theory Suggests Release Date Might Be Right Around The Corner
I loved playing Doom (2016) when it came out on my Nintendo switch in 2017
*being cheeky, but yeah. “Nintendo’s history with that franchise???” We have yet to get one of those releases day & date
Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime 4 Will Apparently Make Quite The Splash At The Switch 2 Direct
