@BTB20 and Another Code Recollections and the Baten Kaitos collection - I think they are doing a splendid job giving at least some attention to most of their series - while also making new games!!
It’s really hard to read this in the context of a new video game. Like I almost don’t care about the game - this dude died.
But also I think this series (or two series) were the art that he poured his soul into. Maybe that says something instead. I’m gonna go think about that.
If anyone from THQNordic is reading this, and wondering why Trine 5 didn’t move as many units as they would like, they can also blame inflation for at least one of those :/
interviewer: What is the question that you are asked the most often? Sega representative: "will there be a chao garden in this new game?" interviewer: "Will their be a chao garden in the new game?" Sega Representative: "no"
I’ve occasionally googled this team in anticipation for what was next over the last (geezus) half decade.
I Am Setsuna was interesting but lost steam eventually, and I missed Lost Sphear entirely, but Oninaki was so good that I felt the studio finally was heading towards greatness.
I’m a simple gal. It’s one part frustrating that they have such high expectations for this type of game. I would fall in love with FF IV DS style remake. Make that SNES game look like a PS1 game!!!
I’ve been trying to play Another Code for 30-minutes to an hour every night right before bed. It’s something of an excellent little bed time story, even though it isn’t something I’ve been able to joy in large binge sessions.
Nursing School is kicking my butt, though I am nostalgic for my first semester when I was able to play Persona 5 in my free time. My personal school days experience + the school motif of P5 gelled together in such a satisfying way, that I’ve finally picked up Person 4: Golden to see if it provides similar motivation!
@Not_Soos I love them both! They are real pretty too. I also get the annoying factor, but I think that they have been toned down a bit for this newer iteration post the 2010's film series.
Also i didn't know Jon Cartwright vouched for them, he has consistently good takes!
I don’t always trust myself lol. I do think it’s quite good! But I also love things like the two Smurf games… Another Code Recollection has some frustrating elements, but it’s a lovely ride
I am from a small town with 3000 people. This is 60% of the town I grew up in. This type of practice is violence, I don’t think you can fairly call it anything else
Hey NL - I love ya. I read this site a lot, I might even give you money here soon (I get paid next week!)
But this is too many Palworld articles right? Like too many? And like I didn’t click on the other 5 so this comment shouldn’t reinforce these as a good idea… I hope.
Do you want me to write an article? I’ll do it for free. It will be about Nintendo and we will all have a great time!
A lot of the Runeterra titles were genuinely interesting. They grabbed some of my very favorite independent teams (specifically Airship Syndicate!!) but when you don’t believe in your games enough to push for a physical copy they can get buried under waves and waves of other titles. So I ended up skipping all of these
I don’t think that is the bigger issue though. I think games are selling in higher numbers than ever. But it’s the same corporate Tom foolery we all know to expect.
The book of Enoch is is a fascinating inspiration for a fantastical setting. I think back on the Dante’s Inferno (based on book that is likewise non-biblically canonical, yet impactful on various dogmas) game from the same era, and lament it’s relative fame.
El Shaddai has been on my radar for a decade, LRG is really helping make these dreams come true
@Zach777 you got your copy of Persona 3?? That was pretty quick for LRG! I skipped 3 (if they had announced it before the remake they would have had me) but I did grab 4. Now I’m hopeful that it gets here in the next month or two
I feel bad for all of these amazing games out here. I can be playing a game and loving it - Right now it’s Klonoa 2 - and then something crazy will happen like Another Code and Prince of Persia releasing the same week. Suddenly Klonoa 2 is old news!!
Anyway I’m going to be powering through Klonoa 2, and then maybe Another Code
I would have told you that the American Manhattan Project cover was one of the best in the business… but I was ultimately won over by the Japanese cover and that adorably silly Raphael!!!
This is not even a real gripe - but my gamer actually brain is going off!
I don’t think Sega gets to go around grouping Streets of Rage i with these series for revivals. Streets 4 is a very popular and modern game. If anything the new Streets of Rage Project is going to Tropical Freeze the Return
I beat the first Klonoa yesterday and it was over too fast, so I chose to not jump right into the second!
Instead I’m playing the Smurfs 2 lol. BUT ITS REALLY GOOD!! Arlo did a sponsorship with it, and I’m glad I dove in. It’s like a Ratchet and Clank of sorts
Lol I also made this same comment about a physical version under the article about Outer Wilds but… I refresh this page multiple times a day to see if there is news on the physical copy of this game.
I had been putting off Pikmin 4 since launch (I always worry games will disappoint - this did not!) but I think I can finish it this weekend! If I do it’s on to Neon White - which is lovely and hair pulling in it’s difficulty! Some of us were not built for shooters.
My number one port wish (after all of the incredible dream come true ports tbh) is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow trilogy. The two console games look lovely and I’ve never had a shot at them!!!
There are two days in 2024 ALREADY that have two must-play games on the same day January 19th with Another Code/POP and April 23rd, with Tales of Kenzara/Eiyuden Chronicles. I am very pleased
@JagGentlemann I get what you’re saying, but I think you’ve also stumbled on a bigger conundrum about how economic structures make creative expression worse. Lol
And in the wake of the James Sommerton issue I think most of us are thinking about how undervalued creativity is by marketing folks
Well Trials to Azure really does look cool. But I guess my Christmas wish is that we stop getting cool looking games that I would otherwise go crazy for… if I didn’t have to play as a cop. This one, Astral Chain, and next years Decapolice look soooo good

Tequila Works doesn’t miss! I will keep my eyes out for a Super Rare release
Re: Ys X: Nordics Will Launch On Switch In The West In Fall 2024
This is the most exciting news!
I know they were also looking to bring over the remake of 4 too, I hope that’s in the cards still!
The Switch introduced me to this series with 8 and now it is one of my
Very favorites

@EarthboundBenjy that was a really interesting read! I didn’t realize so many versions had so many differences!

Re: Microsoft Lays Off 1,900 Xbox, Bethesda And Activision Blizzard Employees
@BlueMonk I want to put in perspective what 1900 people is. What do you imagine when you think of 1900 people?
Is it “mean” to say companies who routinely lay off staff to pay out shareholders are doing a bad thing?
Re: Microsoft Lays Off 1,900 Xbox, Bethesda And Activision Blizzard Employees
That PR statement doesn’t mean anything.
This is almost 2000 people.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 20th)
@EarthboundBenjy I find this Suikoden talk very intriguing!! I’ve never touched the series, have gone and gotten hyped for Eiyuden Chronicles anyway.
Are you going to stick with it? Or even stick with the series in general?

Re: Splatoon 3's Mincemeat Metalworks Stage Will Temporarily Close Next Week
I have such a tertiary relationship with the series, i feel that when I read these types of stories I can only assume there is a lore reason.
Like salmonids were attacking or something. Maybe something to do with the dlc?
But it’s probably just an update

This article will feed that algorithm

Or (inspired by the link to the review for this game) this genre could be called a “Catch’em-All”
Re: Pokémon-Like 'Coromon' Gets An Update For Switch, Here's What's Included
Gamers we gotta do better than labeling genres as “x-likes” it’s bad enough that “Rogue-likes” and “Souls-likes” are so popular as terms
Pokémon-likes should be called a Creature Collection RPG or something. That’s just me spitballing! Anything is better!
