The JPN version is objectively better. But I’d also have been twice as embarrassed to buy it as a single man.

@Mrkittyhead I think XBC2 had a “perfect storm” for me not to like it. Xenogears changed my life when I was in High School, then Xenosaga was a major let-down. I wanted but missed original XBC1, so was excited for 2. But I could only get it in Japanese, so although I could understand it, I couldn’t really fall into it. I couldn’t really comprehend all of the mechanics which just seemed ridiculously complicated. Plus I didn’t like the perverse designs, gatcha blades, and “harem for loser boy” story. So I finished it, but by the end it was pure hate. The end was cool tho. Classic Xeno stuff. But everything I personally like about Xeno games is done better in the other games. But my experience was likely marred by the language situation. (Although I only ever saw the Star Wars prequels in Japanese, and that actually made them better! Hahah)

Xeno 3 is the best one in the series. Which was a relief because Xeno 2 was so abysmally terrible. This new content is fantastic too. I’ve even begin to tolerate Rex.

I heard the Japanese version of BotW had all the Sheikah Slate entries in first person, as if Link were writing all the notes and observations. That’s a cool foil to how he never speaks. I wonder why they left that characterization out of the English version...

This was so incredibly hype. I love the nods to Xenogears as well. Matthew looks so much like Fei Fong Wong, and I get Bart and Emeralda vibe from some designs as well.
I’m going to take this super slow, put it down for Zelda, and then enjoy coming back to it after Zelda withdrawals, I guess. Never thought I’d say this because it’s such a massive game, but kinda want to replay XBC3 proper too...

Wolfenstein II for that price is really good. I enjoyed that game quite a bit.

@CoastersPaul Totally! Live-A-Live was magical also! But playing Octopath 2 now makes me realize how stellar XBC3 truly is. Can’t wait for more DLC!

@Wisps Yeah, I might have to avoid battles, like you suggest. But also, I feel overwhelmed by all the tasks on the map. Like of course I can just choose one and go for it. But it feels less purposeful than the original game.

I’m enjoying it, but I feel like it has pacing issues... the map is littered with objectives, making it hard to decide where to go, and I feel directionless. Plus, by the time I get anywhere, I’m always OP, so there’s rarely any challenge. Good game, but feels disorganized or something.

Cool! It’s a great game, and totally taking over my life.

I’ve started with Osvald, seems like the best main character for his strengths. Plus you complete 2 chapters in unlocking him. But Hikari seems super cool as well.

Fair enough about the ending. I was satisfied by it. But it’s also natural to want something different. Bittersweet at the least.

@zgillet I don’t agree. The tone and art and feel if Aria was better IMO. Dawn was... fine. But Aria was truly special.

@themightyant @Westy90 It really is a beast of a game. Insane how much content there is. My wife and kids were away were visiting The grandparents and I would play this all-night... it was magical!

Super stoked for this!! I loved the original enough to play it twice. I’m playing the demo a lot right now to determine which character to main. Characters seem more balanced (...weaker) than before, so likely any of them are fine to have as the main protagonist.

You need to add Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (I’m pretty sure that was GBA...) the best Castlevanie outside SoTN!

Octopath Traveler II! So hyped!

For me Bravely Default can disappear. I’m loving that Octopath Traveler is getting sequels! Triangle Strategy was fantastic, I’m replaying it now and impressed by all the replay-ability it offers (New Game+ is great). Live-A-Live was truly magical, but everyone knows what we want... HD-2D for CHRONO TRIGGER and FINAL FANTASY VI!!!
(Oh yeah, and pleeeease Xenogears, but I won’t hold my breathe.)

I always thought this looked cool, but never had a console to play it. After Gold Coins got it for quite cheap. I guess I’ll play this after XBC3, but I’ll get around to Nier and Persona eventually, I’m sure.
