@Takoda I like your take. I feel similar. I was overall happy with the ending. It was less mind-bending than previous entries. But this one spread out that psychedelic imagery more throughout.

Looks like they have the B-Team working on this Fire Emblem. Hopefully they make a cooler, less Disney-looking, one in the future.

When loading Bowser’s Fury and 3D World, there is a select screen between those 2 games, with a slow jazz version of the main theme. It is so catchy, soothing, and relaxing. I am going to hum that song to myself on my deathbed — it is like condensed joy.

@KingMike Yeah, but what is a “Metal Gear” or “Mobile Suit” either, right? “Assault Suit” makes sense to me, it’s all there in the name. The suit you wear when you’re assaulting. But I hear you, on reflecting the English title is actually pretty cool too.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3, I just completed. Kinda feel like taking a break from gaming now. Beautiful game!

FE Connect... I’m going to try and buy it 2nd hand. It looks really solid, but the tone and design are offensive to my senses.

I wonder if Nintendo has a (granted, small) problem on it’s hands. Shiver seems quite popular, and she’s won both Splatfests so far, and the Tricolor mode seems unreliable and kinda messes up the mid-way winners. Seems like stuffs kinda broken?

That was fun! The music and atmosphere for the Splatfest was awesome. I hope they keep moving some things around to keep it fresh tho.

I’ve tried to play other FE before (Awakenings, etc) but they never hooked me. Problems with story more than gameplay really. But I’m just so disappointed they’re not keeping in the style/tone of Three Houses (which I adored).
I mean, the series deserves the space to go in a new direction (or a return, really) but I for one, am sorely disappointed.

I’m excited for this film! I’ll just be glad if they don’t force a woke agenda into this project. Thankfully Nintendo has it’s head on straight.

In many ways this is a return to pre-Three Houses Fire Emblem... which I think is a big mistake, personally. I wish they’d kept going in the direction of Three Houses instead of this cheesy style.

Started watching this cuz very excited about this game. Stopped watching this cuz it’s just spoiling things and I’m already sold. Let the wait begin...

I live in Tokyo and asked around, there’s no hesitation from the native Japanese I’ve spoken to, it is 涙 of the Kingdom.
You’re 3rd association is interesting, 破損, but I don’t see how you got there. Because that sounds like “Ha Son” in English pronunciation of the Japanese.

Octopath Traveler II blew my mind for excitement. That’s the best news to me (besides TotK of course)

The name is fine, but I’m loving the acronym, TOTK — nice.

What’s funny is the Japanese only uses the English title also. But Japanese differentiates more on pronunciation. So the title uses ティアーズ which would be for crying, not ripping.

But I hope it has the double-meaning intentionally, that’d be a fun element.

My heart sunk the entire time this game was shown. It looks like the mobile game is inspiration, and not Three Houses. Which is a major bummer for me. The environments look like the new DLC for Mario Kart 8 — blurry, flat-toned, and too colorful.

The HD-2D games are some of my very favorite on Switch. Some complain about little inter-character interaction in OP I. But it left the door open for excellent head-canon for me. I always pretended Olberic didn’t ever realize Theon was a thief, and the others kind of hid it from him. 😆

@Gerudo_Guy no, they teased us with Metroid sound design a little before it was revealed as GoldenEye too (along with the Samus “P1” symbol).
Were there any Metroid games on N64?

Not complaining, easy enough to fast-forward boring bits. But this Direct felt like Zelda, “hangers-on”, and faming sims.
Everyone must be dumbfounded by abundance of farming sims.

I’ve been taking big bites out of it for a month now, and soaking in the side quests.

@cvrator Interesting. I have read about the insane level of depth to the lore or concepts beneath the game. This is the stuff I love about Xenogears and Xenoblade Chronicles 1 & 3. I’m lining up for Persona cuz I’ve never played it before. I wonder if Nier would fit between XBC3 and Persona? Maybe not right? I wonder which I should prioritize? (Persona vs Nier)

Anyways, this game looks pretty cool to me. Shadows on pixel art is a must going-forward.

The magician of the Xeno-series is Tetsuya Takahashi. He (and his wife) are the ones who bring the meaning and gravitas to those games.
Definitely some “magic mushrooms” when they were younger (would have been legal and prevalent at that time in Japan too. Largely unspoken but a lot of anime, games, and manga were inspired by psilocybin from the 70’s to 90’s — until the Nagano Olympics when they were outlawed.)

I get it. My opinion doesn’t invalidate yours. We can both be right. For me, 2 and 3 were fun but the story and presentation was mostly meaningless. 4 recaptured the magic of 1, for me. Transcendent, nearly.

I’d be more interested in ports of MGS4 and whatever came after that (cuz 4 was better than 2 and 3, but I missed what came after that)

This game had a very strong ending. I recommend anyone who gets bogged down to stick with it. Very rewarding and satisfying. (Lots of post-game stuff, which is nice, but I bounced from that.)

If it wasn’t for all the acclaim this game has from fans, I would totally ignore it.
Looks silly. But people have such high praise. I’m wondering if it’s worth it for me to try it. 🤔

I thought it was Xenogears-inspired from the 2D on 3D style. So disappointed it was Suikoden as the inspiration. The “hundreds of heroes” didn’t appeal to me in Suikoden because either so many heroes go to waste (no time to develop / enjoy them all).

Anyone else notice he’s got the special Smash Bros. Switch dock? Of course he does!

If true, I like how Nintendo kept it subtle and not in-your-face (classy). But the internet and NL has just “outed” them big time (not so classy).
