Re: Mega Drive Brawler Paprium Is Coming To Switch Following Kickstarter Success

RudeAnimat0r

I actually received my copy at the end of the release trickle. They keep sending me emails like I haven't though - I had submitted a complaint ticket at one point.

The thing is I haven't even opened my copy yet. I put my Genesis in storage once my son was born since I didn't want him breaking it. Now with the Kickstarter and it coming to modern platforms I'm just tempted to sell my Genesis copy. I don't care much about having the cartridge, I just wanted to support them - Pier Solar is cool, I played it on Steam since Genesis copies are $$$ - and be able to play it. Period.

Re: Feature: 8 Games That Missed Nintendo Hardware

RudeAnimat0r

Vanquish coming to Switch probably has more to do with Sega than Platinum. These were games before Platinum became publicly adamant about owning their own IP, so I would assume any discussions about Vanqiush ports have to start with Sega.

I would agree that it's a strange omission considering Bayonetta 1 is on Switch - although not the 10th Anniversary re-release. I would guess they don't necessarily think the platform is a good fit. I think that is debatable, especially when stuff like Astral Chain appears to have found an audience.

Re: Random: Uh-Oh, Nintendo's Switch Online 'Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer' Is Generating A Lot Of Dislikes

RudeAnimat0r

I think the real issue isn't that it's $50 a year. I think paying less than what amounts to $5/ month for a decent sized library of NES/SNES/GEN/N64 is totally worth it. I think the issue is really precedent. Basic NSO is 40% of that new price tier. People are mad because the new value doesn't line up for them. And I agree.

It's kind of like when I balk at buying expansion passes to games. So you're telling me the base game cost $60 and provides X amount of content, then you want me to spend 50% of the base cost again for Y amount of content - usually that Y being much smaller than X.

Re: Want A New Castlevania Game? You Need To Make Yourself Heard, Says Konami Director

RudeAnimat0r

I don't know that Konami has the talent to make a new Castlevania internally. I would like the series to continue but LoS2 and Mirror of Fate were bad and mediocre respectively. I could be down with Konami licensing the IP to a talented indie, have ourselves a Streets of Rage 4 situation.

For now, I want Konami and M2 to keep mining the vaults. I want DS Collection and then a 3D Collection with the PS2 games and Lords of Shadow 1.

Re: Review: Steel Assault - A Quick Bite To Savour With Classic Castlevania Flavour

RudeAnimat0r

@SmaggTheSmug So a handful of people who probably worked on this game for a couple of years shouldn't be compensated since it takes an hour to beat?

By all means everyone should decide what their $15 is worth, but imagine doing whatever your job is for free for a couple of years with the hope that someone kickstarts the next couple of years of your career.

I'm super hype for this game. I need more excellent, short games.

Re: The Shadowrun Trilogy Is Coming To Nintendo Switch In 2022

RudeAnimat0r

These are all great tactical RPGs pn PC. I finished Returns and Dragonfall a while back but never quite finished Hong Kong - just kind of fell off gaming on my PC.

I think as someone else said they're all great entry points for CRPGs. The campaigns are mostly straightforward and can be completed in less than 20 hours. But there's lots of great writing and characters, plus solid character customization.

I probably won't rebuy on Switch and I would also be concerned about text size, which was even small on PC, but I'm glad to see these games find new life. I'd love to see Harebrained return to the universe.

On the related note, it would be cool to see the SNES and Genesis games return as well. I would guess there are some tricky licensing issues involved with both.

Re: Limited Run Games Announces Quake Physical Edition For Nintendo Switch

RudeAnimat0r

So as much as I like what Limited Run does... releases like this just feel like they've strayed so far from their original purpose, or at least what I presumed to be their purpose: to put games on physical media that would otherwise have had no chance. Quake is made by id, which is owned by Bethesda, which is now owned by Microsoft. I think Microsoft can afford to print their own physical copies, in however large a print run as they want.

Re: Shantae Developer WayForward Is Making Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp

RudeAnimat0r

I don't like the 3D graphics, they're quite bland looking. I think the character animation sequences look good, though. Seems like a mixed bag, and frankly, I'm just not that excited about a remake.

WayForward does decent work - I think the Shantae games are good but way overrated. I'm happy they're getting some work directly from Nintendo. I do hope this remake is a gateway to new Advance Wars titles, but I hope we haven't seen the last of pixel graphics from Nintendo, period.
