It's almost Christmas, and those nice folks at Nintendo have announced that a new Indie World Showcase will be airing later today, 15th December 2021.
The show will kick off at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST / 6pm CEST and will feature "roughly 20 minutes of information on upcoming indie games heading to Nintendo Switch".
As always, you'll be able to join us right here at Nintendo Life to watch the show live – simply keep an eye on our home page at the times mentioned above.
Are there any indie gems you'd like to see announced for Switch tomorrow? Let us know in the comments.

Hollow knight Silksong. Just take your time guys. I want it to be the best it can be. Late 2022 or even 2023 is fine by me.
Nice. My gaming diet is almost all indie at this point, so this is great.
Hopefully some good 3D indie games.
Hoping for Sports Story update!
Awesome, love these indie presentations. I have a bunch of eShop credit (stocked up while it was on sale here) and am currently in-between games so maybe I'll hold off on picking my next game to play in case there's a particularly interesting shadow drop or two.
I know it got delayed to next year but I would really like to see more info on TMNT Shredder’s Revenge if possible.
@ZeldaNX I feel like, at this point, Silksong makes more sense to be in a regular Direct. I think it's too big of a game to only be showcased in one of these presentations. Not to undermine these presentations because I think they're really cool, but Silksong is probably one of the most anticipated games right now, at least from an indie perspective.
These are always entertaining little presentations so I'm ready.
Aren’t I excited to not get silksong again! (There’s usually some good games still though, these indie worlds have been pretty good recently)
I have a good idea about some of the things that might be included this time around. :v
Here's hoping for a nice holiday show!
Outer Wilds was originally announced for summer 2021 then confirmed delayed until December 2021. We haven’t heard anything since then which is strange - but all could make sense if we got a shadowdrop tomorrow!
I feel like there's not that much for Christmas, I expect some bangers!
Hopefully Windjammers 2 gets shadow dropped!
Windjammers 2 shadow drop.
Somehow hoping that Ghost Song gets announced tomorrow as a port for Switch. Long shot but we can dream right?
@topher6490 Wow 4 seconds apart. Found my twin.
Bring on the puzzle platform Metroidvanias with rhythm combat and rpg/roguelike elements and an emotional narrative.
JK. I love the abundance of indie games (in contrast to the Wii U years).
Literally just listening to IGN's NVC podcast right now and they were wondering if a Nindie Direct would appear as a result of nothing at the Game Awards..... et voila!
I wonder if Bear & Breakfast will reappear.
@topher6490 @ReWane coincidentally they just now confirmed Windjammers 2 for 20 Jan. I’m looking forward to it too!
@ReWane jan 20
Neat. Maybe Heart Forth Alicia will come back up on the radar at long last? And Lost Ruins was apparently expected to arrive in "Q4 2021", so it feels like high time. And if Long Live the Queen shadowdrops, I might just purchase it next week even despite all the holiday deals showing up by then.
Not sure what else to wish for... Guild of Dungeoneering, perhaps? Given away on EGS recently, but it feels almost counterintuitive to play indies on PC, given their eventual Switch port ratio. Oh, I know - how about Starbound?
Ridiculous how "insiders" are having a cat fight over getting an Indie Direct this week right. Apparently it has been a thing in December since 2018, so I thought that it's probably this week even without insider knowledge, because next week are the holidays and Nintendo likely wouldn't do one shortly before them. But "insiders" out there are fighting over who's credible or who's not, when that was an easy guess. It's not that they got the date right.
On a side note, could they just stop "leaking", especially games? Leak bad working conditions, but let people have surprises. It's ridiculous to watch "insiders" latch onto that bounty hunter fraud, when they themselves use similar tricks.
I just want Pyre by Supergiant Games
@Perryg92
It's not a result of anything, but a common occurrence.
I usually like these presentations. If I can add 1 or 2 games to my wishlist I'm usually satisfied. Curious how many games will get shadow dropped this time, because Indie presentations are known to do that.
How about a nice shadowdrop or two as an early present for christmas?
@BongoBongo Yeah if Outer Wilds isn't shown I will be shocked.
OlliOlli World supposed to be 'this winter', but no specifics despite teasing lots of footage the last month. I have my fingers crossed — it was originally announced at an Indie Direct a while back I think
@ZeldaNX don't bet on it, I'm going to put money on the game being shelved for the time being, hence why the only news we got from the game in the entirety of 2021 was in May and that was to tell us that there will be no news on the game because it won't be at E3.
Personally my money is on the game being shelved for now.
@Rin-go Are you talking about Liam Robinson? If so then I agree. I actually got blocked by him earlier today on Twitter just for defending the validity of a leaker (in a non harassing way mind you). Although leaking can spoil reveals for people, he is definitely worse the people he targeted with some very aggressive a
behaviour.
House of the dead or Silksong would be great.
These Indie Directs normally have at least one or two games that I end up buying.
@ZeldaNX I agree, but a bit of an update would be nice, we haven't heard anything from Team Cherry for ages
with a Indie World happening tomorrow that means next should be a Nintendo Direct, starting the speculation when when see it
YES!!! Let's gooooo
Re:Legend, anyone ?
I heard this game will get console version very soon according to their Twitter account.
@Gamer_Zeus
It would be nice to have a update in which we are reminded that progress is going well. The fact that we didn’t hear about Silksong for so long is at least a little concerning. I personally believe it is still going well. Just taking longer because they are making it a lot bigger (I hope).
Now that I got a Cuphead update, I am wanting an update on Sports Story and Cardsharks.
This will be better than the game awards
Oh yeah, what happened to the House of the dead game anyway?
When is the release date
yes this is happnin
Sonic mania 2 please
I suppose it is now understandable why Nintendo chose to not announce anything at The Game Awards. To put it simply, they want indie games to get their own spotlight, and I do appreciate them for that.
Why wasn't Pocket Dungeon released during this presentation. Maybe the developers know that some big games are about to be shadow dropped and decided to get their game out first.
@KBuckley27 next general Direct in january/february?
I hope to see Shovell Knight Dig!
can we expect Hollow Knight Silksong information or we have to wait until 2022 to have informations on the game?
oh that why Nintendo showed nothing at TGA 2021, they have a Indie World Showcase and problaby a general Nintendo Direct planned.
@Giancarlothomaz very likely in February but I'm predicting it to be in March
@elias84631 Sonic isn't indie
Christmas coming early? My favourite kind of games presentations! There are always so many unique and interesting games (and a good half-dozen metroidvanians, but those are fine too). You never know what you're going to get. Even if I don't end up playing them it's always fun to watch.
SteamWorld news I hope!
Nintendo still could have had something at Game Awards...
Yay-yeah! Love Indie showcases.
Predictions -
A game where the screen is made of paper and you have to fold it to manipulate the level.
A game where you have to organise a piss up in a brewery.
A game where you own a cinema, but your movies keep spilling out from the reel world into the real world (and you have to tidy up so the customers don't notice.)
(I never guess any - oh apart from controlling a hand and they showed Freedom Finger, so I'll take that!)
I do hope FNAF Security Breach Switch port could get announced but its unlikely because the Playstation console exclusivity needs to be done first though
I just want to know when Outer Wilds is coming out. Thought it was this month, but haven't heard anything. Also, when is Fall Guys finally coming out, as well as TMNT and House of the Dead?
Can’t wait for the next Smash reveal 🙃
Also, probably means a regular Direct will come out shortly after the New Year.
@Giancarlothomaz
I feel like a game awards reveal would have made more sense for Silksong but I don't know the economics of getti g your games shown there.
I'm hoping we get to see some of the AI: The Somnium Files sequel but don't know whether Spike Chunsoft published games count as Indie.
Several people have already mentioned Outer Wilds, which is my #1 prediction (and hope). The only other thing that might seem obvious given the info we've been provided is a shadow drop / release date for Clive N Wrench.
Now I don't want to get over hyped. But in the zelda 35th anniversary direct I believe they said they hoped to get out a more information on the BOTW sequel before the year end. Here's hoping they toss that in at the end of this, and if not still excited for an Nindie Direct.
@ModdedInkling I found your youtube comment btw I think
"Sega, take notes. This is how you properly make a Mario Kart clone on the Switch. You properly use the Switch's hardware."
This you?
As long as they aren’t all ‘Metroidvanias’
This is it folks. THIS is it. We'll find out which games are in development hell
Ah yah! Fun fun fun! Nintendo directs are awesome.
@XiaoShao I’ve been begging for an update or release date since they announced it.. Golf Story was amazing!
If I could will something into existence it would be ori 3. But if we go with my realistic hope maybe a ty the Tasmanian tiger style of game.
Give me a good indie rpg and we call it a day.
Silksong all the way. But don't rush it. Take the time it takes to make it right. We'll wait.
@KBuckley27 i think the first Nintendo Direct is gonna air in february, to reveal Kirby and the Forgotten Land release date and the games of the first half of 2022 that will release on Switch.
@anoyonmus
Yeah. Probably should mention that over at the other article that relates to my comment.
@Exciter89 I’ve been waiting for pyre to hit switch for ages. One of my most requested ports (provided it runs well, the PS4 version at launch was a bit iffy)
Just like everyone else here; SILKSONG! Would also like an update on TMNT which seems to have disappeared (like a ninja?)
oh, great, let's hope good games are announced, and let's see if they give a free one, for my birthday, XD, I was just kidding.
The important thing is that there will be more games on the way!! ^^ and I hope some racing game like NFS (it is worth dreaming)
I do love Indie Directs, but secretly hoping tomorrow they announce a bunch of boring blah titles because seriously, I am saturated with games right now. I could delete just the AAA games I've accumulated and still be saturated with indies alone! @_@;;
Praying for some nice bishoujo VN's!
One prediction I will make: one "it's impossible to play on the Switch!" game will be brought over from Panic Button/Virtuous/Saber. Guessing either It Takes Two, Psychonats 2 or Returnal.
@Rpg-lover I'm playing Eastward right now and love it. It's like if you threw Zelda, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Earthbound and Startropics into a blender.
Hoping they'll show 30XX! I absolutely loved 20XX on my Switch and am pumped for the sequel!
@BenAV Christmas Tina 😁
@JustMonika Shush you
@GrailUK
Are you being sarcastic because those are actually fun concepts. XD
@Purgatorium Not at all. I always try to predict a game
Hoping for but will probably only hear about 1 or 2 of these and the rest of it will be new announcements: Outer Wilds, OlliOlli World, TMNT Shredder's Revenge, Oxenfree 2, Shovel Knight Dig, The Wolf Among Us 2, Silksong, Hazelnut Bastille, Playdead's next game.
@kingbk i am at the ending part(charon) where you have to time your hits to defeat the boss(ISABEL)
I love this game so much, it's one of the best for me.
@GrailUK Well then I hope you're right!
@Purgatorium I never am lol.
Battleblock Theater would be really fun to see
Although a very old game, I would love to see a version of Murumasa and the demon blade. I might just have to finish it on Wii though.
...Silksong?...
I'm not gonna hype myself but damn. Would live that announcement.
Finally Hazlenut Bastille???
I would sell my soul for a sequel to Thimbleweed Park!
I must say I don't think we will see Silksong but I'm optimistic on Sports Story! My big hope is to actually see Kena Bride of Spirits ported to Switch.
Everyone get ready to not see silksong
Kingdom hearts cloud version isn't a indie Right.
Hopefully "The Outer Wilds" will be announced as being available immediately tomorrow.
"Aeterna Noctis" is due out tomorrow and is a 50+ hour metroidvania in the vein of "Hollow Knight".
Seems to be going under the radar a bit.
Last chance for cardshark, I really thought we were getting it in early 2021 and now it'll probably be in 2022
@CharlieGirl I remember that cadence of hyrule game, They presented it at a previous indie direct.
I just want the Golf Story sequel, bros
Sports Story. That is all.
Silksong is the obvious hope. But I've got Shovel Knight Puzzle Dungeon going right now and don't want to spend money. However a sudden Silksong drop will cause me to drop everything. I'm just curious to see what's up, because everything else I've been waiting for has already come out. For the first time in a while, I'm totally happy if they just have announcements and no sudden drops.
Update/release date for TMNT would be awesome, that easily the number one indie game upcoming for me.
Things were getting dire of late game wise almost like it's coming to end of life cycle with priorities concentrated elsewhere 😉
