Update: Here's a friendly reminder that Nintendo's huge Digital Deals sale is ending later today in North America; the sale will remain live in Europe up until 27th June.
Full details below.
Original Article (Wed 16th Jun, 2021 12:30 BST): Nintendo has kicked off a mighty Digital Deals sale on the Switch eShop across Europe and North America, discounting plenty of its own major releases in the process.
The sales are slightly different across each region (Europe's boasting discounts of up to 75% off, while North America only has up to 50% off), so we'd urge you to visit the eShop in your region to see all the deals for yourself.
Having said that, we've rounded up some of the sale's highlights for you below. These deals are part of the North American sale; a full list of EU deals can be found here.
headsup that many of these are also discounted digitally on Amazon, so you can buy there and get the full coin balance as if you paid full price on the eshop
Would love to be able to just buy and then play some of these but Nintendos bungling of the last patch means I still can't download or update anything at all and with no information coming from regarding a fix I don't know when I will be able to again.
@bluemage1989 I'm having the same problem. What seems to work for me is clearing the cache (Settings->System->Format options->Clear Cache), restarting and trying again. This doesn't always work on the first try, but eventually the bungled download goes through. Strangely not all downloads are problematic...
Link to the EU deals, it's nintendo.co.uk. Kills me every time. 😂 You guys have to seriously replace EU with UK in all your articles, and I'm not saying this as a joke. It's literally not the same thing any more, and never was in terms of currency.
@pigcop Not all European countries have a dedicated Nintendo site for them. As an example, I live in Greece, yet there is no dedicated Nintendo page for Greece. I have to use the UK & Ireland site to see the games, deals, prices (converted to EUR since I'm signed in), and buy any games if I want to.
@gurtifus I think my switch is still buggy from the update, because I had try to download a game like 10 times last night. It worked when I took my sd card out for some reason
@bluemage1989 just keep clicking through the okay/continue button when the message pops up that it won’t download. I got it to work for the two games I tried downloading since the update…it’s an annoying process no doubt but it will work eventually. I had to keep clicking through and getting the error message like 5-10 times for each
@bluemage1989 I'm sure you've already tried this but it worked for me.
I make sure i cancel all my pending downloads including game updates. Then I try to download whatever game I want, with nothing else in the queue. It will fail the first time but i just keep restarting it until it works. It usually does after a few attempts.
@StefanN just buy the code on amazon. Redeem it in the eshop. Get more coins than you would in the eshop (because Nintendo doesn't know how much you bought it for)
I just want to point out for y’all that Metro 2033 is about £2.40 and last light is about £8.20. Snapped them straight up. No idea if they are part of this sale though
Edit: I may have got them the wrong way round. Still an absolute steal if you want some immersive shoot em ups.
@divinenanny@Zach1122@Sidon_ZoraPrince thanks for the suggestions, I have tried these all multiple times over the last few days but still no luck. I must have spent a solid hour yesterday alone clicking through the message. Fingers crossed it gets sorted soon and that I can download the patch!!
Was hoping to see some steeper discounts on first party games, and not the evergreen titles. Can I please get DKCTF for less than $60!? That game is ancient!! :/
@nhSnork If the cut off is days away from payday, use a credit card to get all of the super discounts, and pay it off immediately when your paycheck arrives. I am not advising that you rack up credit card debt, but use it to your advantage.
Gonna grab a few DLCs, as they rarely go on sales. The other "discounts" on 1st party games are - as always - not really enough to make something I don't already own a must-grab of sorts 😅
Why I even expected real sale for Nintendo Exclusives this time, because it's another usual 30%, because I don't have luxury to buy 50+€/$ games with maximum 30% off yet.
@holygeez03 thanks for the advice, but I haven't got the option - employees like me usually have their salary accounts with debit cards by default. A video game sale isn't enough motivation for me to negotiate more specific arrangements.😄
Hey man, had the same problem but following this from Lifehacker.com fixed it for me:
Go to System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings. Select your wifi network from the network list. Select “Change Settings.” Scroll down and change DNS Settings to “Manual.” Set your Primary DNS address to 8.8.8.8 Set your Secondary DNS address to 8.8.4.4 Select “Save.” Back out and retry the download. If this doesn’t work, or it somehow creates new connection issues, go back to the network settings and change the DNS settings back to “Automatic.”
I cashed in on that NBA 2K21 deal yesterday (and deleted NBA 2K20 — that I spent $5 on). That's a great deal on Doom Eternal, that'll probably be happening too. I'm struggling with downloading too - it took lots of retrying/cancelling/restarting/black voodoo magic to finally get that game to download.
Not downloading for you either? I just tried the following from Lifehacker.com and it worked for me:
Go to System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings. Select your wifi network from the network list. Select “Change Settings.” Scroll down and change DNS Settings to “Manual.” Set your Primary DNS address to 8.8.8.8 Set your Secondary DNS address to 8.8.4.4 Select “Save.” Back out and retry the download. If this doesn’t work, or it somehow creates new connection issues, go back to the network settings and change the DNS settings back to “Automatic.”
@OldMcGroin thank you Mr Groin. I tried this very approach a number of times over the last week and still no luck. I also tried different APs. I don't believe it is a connection issue as I can still access the eshop and news pages (and both are up to date) and the connection test is successful every time I do it.
Ah. Sorry man. Very strange that it would work for one person but not another. Just to let you know the steps I followed in order were, clear the cache in system settings, restart the Switch, follow the steps I posted above, clicked on the download on the home screen, after the error click Continue.
Hope you get it sorted soon, I was pulling my hair out because I had just bought Hades and Crash Trilogy and they wouldn't download! 🤬😂
@OldMcGroin from what I have seen it seems like a widespread issue but also one that seems resolvable for some but not others. I am sure Nintendo are working on a new patch but it really highlights the vulnerability that comes from owning digital media.
@Rob3008 That is an outrageous bargain indeed. It's a few pence over a quid fifty on the Russian Eshop. I bought 2033 a few weeks ago for 7 pound odds. I haven't played it yet but there's no way I'm passing up Last Light at that price.
@OldMcGroin I can get my downloads to start just by restarting the system. It is very strange why I can do this, while you need to clear the cache but then others are having no success at all.
@TMNHertl I've got the physical on Switch but haven't opened it yet as I've been busy playing other games and I'm not a big RogueLike fan. I can keep it sealed now and and play it on Xbox
I love Nintendo, and own most of the games listed, but they really should consider at least a 50% on games that are years old. Especially since they are digital games. Just an opinion.
Finally picked up the BOTW expansion, Golf Story, I'm going to pick up the FE3H expansion, and I'll finally pick up Octopath Travler on Friday. Might pick up a few smaller titles too. I wish Age of Calamity was on sale, as I'd definitely pick it up
I'm seeing stuff on this sale that I've never seen discounted previously, even if it isn't a huge discount for some of them. I'm finally going to bite on Pikmin 3 Deluxe, I've never actually owned a Pikmin game before but they seem so cute.
I've been eyeing Part Time UFO for a bit so will probably grab that one too. It's hard when a bunch goes on sale! I want a few more but don't want to spend too much, so some hard decisions will have to be made. Also I'm running out of room on my SD card! There is so much stuff on sale my Switch gave up loading the eShop list after a while lol.
There are several titles I've already bought on sale that are always worth it.
For those still having trouble with downloads - consider simply rebooting your Switch. It managed to work for me the first time I tried it. (Hold down the power button for the power options menu.)
I held passed up a lot of games I own on other consoles even tho it was really tempting, but did pick up the kingdom hearts rhythm game, I wasn’t too into the demo but said screw it and I’m having a blast with it
I picked up a couple of sale titles and had to spend about 10 minutes restarting the downloads because of that stupid error that the last OS update caused. :/
I'll give Mario Kingdom Battle another chance. I liked it but got bored at the third world I think. But that Sparks of Hope trailers has hyped me. And unlike back then I'm done with the Switch games I really wanted to play.
My Switch cannot download anything. I keep getting error. My Fortnite's stuck. I bought $60 worth of games from eshop. None of them downloads. PLEASE REPLY IF YOU KNOW HOW TO SOLVE IT. PLEASE!
@OldMcGroin "Not downloading for you either? I just tried the following from Lifehacker.com and it worked for me:

@OldMcGroin Many thanks, I'm set to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4. now and it will let me download but I have to hit the continue button over and over again for it to work. 10 times the last time I downloaded something.
@OldMcGroin Thank you so much for replying. No. I haven't tried this one yet.
1. Tried restarting system and downloading again after clearing wifi settings. 2. Tried resetting cache and downloading again. 3. Tried repeatedly pressing download until it works.
For anyone in USA still looking to cash in on this sale, Target will price match and they also having a buy 2 games and get 1 free promotion going on. Good way to get physical copies of games during a digital sale and still get 1 extra game in the process. I actually ended up getting 4 physical games myself due to target price matching. Ended out with the outer worlds, fenyx immortals rising, the borderlands legacy collection and the bio shock collection. Well worth it for like $75ish for all those games.
"Anything taking your fancy? Have you found any other deals on the eShop that you'd recommend? Fire away in the comments."
(remembers having had found what I had believed to have had been a certain Super Bomberman R as part of what I had believed to have had been a certain sale for a certain eShop mentioned in the article (specifically a North American eShop))
@TDRsuperstar2 I went to Nintendo.com and clicked my way to deals and sales. Walked over to cashier and showed them the prices for the digital games and scrolled to each game I wanted to purchase. They checked me out and while checking me out noticed I qualified for a free game due to a Target Corporation promotion.
Just ask any sales associate to price match and tell them they can check for themselves on the official Nintendo website if they do not believe you.
@Crockin After years of sales and coming close to pulling the trigger digitally and physically, I finally took the plunge on Mario + Rabies. With Sparks of Hope around the corner, figured I take the plunge

headsup that many of these are also discounted digitally on Amazon, so you can buy there and get the full coin balance as if you paid full price on the eshop
@Mando44646 Whaaaat, how does that work?
Snapped up Everhood at 30% off in an instant, been waiting for any sort of sale for that and I'm pretty keen to play it.
Ended up splurging on Nowhere Prophet, Crown Trick and The Last Campfire earlier too.
Got a few more that I'm tempted by but trying to hold off on more for now.
Would love to be able to just buy and then play some of these but Nintendos bungling of the last patch means I still can't download or update anything at all and with no information coming from regarding a fix I don't know when I will be able to again.
I would have picked up Hades but will wait for it to drop for free on gamepass.
Everything else still looks overpriced
Blasphemous at 10 is a bargain. Go get it if you would like a really good Castlevania with a creepier atmosphere!
@bluemage1989 I'm having the same problem. What seems to work for me is clearing the cache (Settings->System->Format options->Clear Cache), restarting and trying again. This doesn't always work on the first try, but eventually the bungled download goes through. Strangely not all downloads are problematic...
"Europe's boasting discounts of up to 75% off, while North America only has up to 50% off"
The numbers given up there show that some of these games are clearly over 50% off. NBA 2K21 is at 92%.
Link to the EU deals, it's nintendo.co.uk.
Kills me every time. 😂
You guys have to seriously replace EU with UK in all your articles, and I'm not saying this as a joke.
It's literally not the same thing any more, and never was in terms of currency.
These sales might not be very successfull, since the latest switch system update is bugged.People can't download digital game/DLC/game updates.
Metro Redux is only £2.24 which seems like an outrageous bargain.
Always neat and overwhelming at the same time when such sales discount hundreds of your wishlist items with the same cutoff date - all the more trollish as this one lands a mere couple days before my vacation bonus would hit, enabling more room. But I'm talking the poster child for first world problems here. I'll have to go through the list again later (the phone glitched midway through last night, necessitating a reboot with none of the notes saved), but I already have a couple items in mind, like FAR Lone Sails and the Metro 2033 games - Last Light in particular has trimmed 90% of its price at once as compared to the first game's 65%, weird but you won't catch me complaining. On the other hand, I already consider passing on the previously targeted Assassin's Creed 3 since there were other candidates competing for its price, candidates I'm not almost two (or rather, as I was reminded the other day, at least almost FOUR) entries behind in their respective series. Time and available funds next week will tell what I'll end up investing in, but it's "not a bad problem to have if you ask me"©
@pigcop Not all European countries have a dedicated Nintendo site for them.
As an example, I live in Greece, yet there is no dedicated Nintendo page for Greece. I have to use the UK & Ireland site to see the games, deals, prices (converted to EUR since I'm signed in), and buy any games if I want to.
But the question is : WHEN will we be able to download some of them ?
Mario+rabbids and all the dlc for $15 is pretty great
@gurtifus I think my switch is still buggy from the update, because I had try to download a game like 10 times last night. It worked when I took my sd card out for some reason
@bluemage1989 just keep clicking through the okay/continue button when the message pops up that it won’t download. @DoomTurtle I'm guessing that text is referring to 1st party sales, not 3rd party
mogus on sale 😳
pretty sus ngl
@divinenanny @Zach1122 @Sidon_ZoraPrince thanks for the suggestions, I have tried these all multiple times over the last few days but still no luck. I must have spent a solid hour yesterday alone clicking through the message. Fingers crossed it gets sorted soon and that I can download the patch!!
Nothing for me in this sale. Already have everything I want.
As always, Nintendo's games get ridiculous discounts.
@the_beaver And Soulsborne difficulty.
Was hoping to see some steeper discounts on first party games, and not the evergreen titles. Can I please get DKCTF for less than $60!? That game is ancient!! :/
I grabbed kingdom hearts melody of memory for £25 which is was quite pleased with. I was hoping e3 would slash the price in a sale
@Mando44646 is this works on expansion pass?
@BlueOcean it's a farce isn't it, you know what looking through this sale instantly makes Gamepass very appealing
Here I go, Part Time UFO.
And that price in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is very tempting, but I'll see if I can still find a physical copy.
Great price for Mario + Rabbids if anyone has been hesitant. 'mon in!! Great title with more on the way.
Grabbing some Paper Mario and Xenoblade Chronicles myself.
@nhSnork If the cut off is days away from payday, use a credit card to get all of the super discounts, and pay it off immediately when your paycheck arrives. I am not advising that you rack up credit card debt, but use it to your advantage.
Used to have Mario and Rabbids physically, never finished it, so I traded it, but at that price, I’m tempted to get it Digitally!
Been meaning to grab the BotW expansion pass. Whaddya know, it was on sale! Downloaded last night.
Just picked up Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, which I had been waiting to go on sale for awhile now, yaaay.
I picked up Strife: Veteran Edition 😎
Gonna grab a few DLCs, as they rarely go on sales. The other "discounts" on 1st party games are - as always - not really enough to make something I don't already own a must-grab of sorts 😅
I gor Ruinner at 75% discount, pretty nice
The Survivor horror FPS Metro and Metro redux is £7 and £2
The thing is Nintendo games themselves don't ever go further than 30%.
@StefanN
The Points are bound to the normal retail Price.
Nintendo doesn't know when a reseller sells the Games lower.
But, the Publisher can lower them and even take them out completly.
I bought Mario Odyssey last Year for Example and got no Points.
I'll get Paper Mario this time!
And I'm think of getting the BOTW expansion pass. It's discounted too. Is it really worth getting?
I'll have to check my wishlist. Some games are placed on there awaiting sales.
@John_Deacon If you loved the main game, then absolutely yes.
@Kilroy I'd even say classic Castlevanias dificulty XD. It's more fair than Dark Souls, you don't get killed by a common enemy that easily.

@sunkenFool would much rather if the Irish site was connected to an EU page rather than .co.uk page.

@OldMcGroin thank you Mr Groin. I tried this very approach a number of times over the last week and still no luck. I also tried different APs. I don't believe it is a connection issue as I can still access the eshop and news pages (and both are up to date) and the connection test is successful every time I do it.
I need to get Wolfenstein II. Also, may as well get Okami, haven't played it since the Wii days.
@carlos82 And the only "Nintendo" game that gets generous discounts is the one that Ubisoft developed and published.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Hades is worth every penny and then some. It's a masterpiece.
@bluemage1989
Ah.
Great tons of games we can’t download…
ARMs full price. That makes sense.
I recommend OxenFree, it had not been on sale more than a yr!!!
I was looking for snk games deals. Wanted some metal slug games and specially Garou.
First Metro game is much expensive than second game. What is happening?
Thanks for tipping us off. Got Everhood, Say NO! More, and Part Time UFO.
I was hoping Tropical Freeze or Bowser's Fury would get discounts. Agh. Nothing for me here.
I love Nintendo, and own most of the games listed, but they really should consider at least a 50% on games that are years old. Especially since they are digital games. Just an opinion.
@bluemage1989 it's no solution, but you can buy things off of Nintendo's site. Just take a screenshot of your recipt in case that screws up too
Finally picked up the BOTW expansion, Golf Story, I'm going to pick up the FE3H expansion, and I'll finally pick up Octopath Travler on Friday. Might pick up a few smaller titles too. I wish Age of Calamity was on sale, as I'd definitely pick it up

Yeah, I wont be buying anything new until I can actually download it. Nintendo, sort out your system update omnishambles.
Ugh. I hate how Nintendo discounts NEVER go much more than 30% off. Sheesh.
MARIO + RABBIDS TIME BOIS
@Mr_Humpf
That happened to you too?
@Mando44646 Thanks for the heads up.
I'm picking up Part Time UFO because of this.
@Marioman2020 Yup. Maybe more people will come across the problem as they try to download games from this sale.
I raided the eshop:
HELP!
My Switch cannot download anything. I keep getting error. My Fortnite's stuck. I bought $60 worth of games from eshop. None of them downloads. PLEASE REPLY IF YOU KNOW HOW TO SOLVE IT. PLEASE!
A BIG thanks IN ADVANCE.

Go to System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings.
Select your wifi network from the network list.
Select “Change Settings.”
Scroll down and change DNS Settings to “Manual.”
Set your Primary DNS address to 8.8.8.8
Set your Secondary DNS address to 8.8.4.4

@OldMcGroin Many thanks, I'm set to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4. now and it will let me download but I have to hit the continue button over and over again for it to work. 10 times the last time I downloaded something.
@OldMcGroin Thank you so much for replying. No. I haven't tried this one yet.
1. Tried restarting system and downloading again after clearing wifi settings.
2. Tried resetting cache and downloading again.
3. Tried repeatedly pressing download until it works.
Going to try different DNS settings right away.

Is it just me or is Immortals Fenxyx Rising always on sale? Lol. Just drop the price to $29.99 permanently already haha.
Srsly don't pass up the deal on rabbids if youbve not played it. $15 for the base game+all dlc. top 10 switch game!

@John_Deacon The Master Sword trial is not for the faint of heart... it's incredibly difficult. I'd say it's worth it.
@PuppyToucher how do they price match digital games?
I went for Firewatch (-70%) - I've been intrigued by the reviews ever since it was released and so far I'm not disappointed.
I had 35 bux in points at best buy so picked up botw for 8 bux cash. All others I either have or eh.
I think I'm going to punt on Part Time UFO. Really like the simple fun look of that title.
Great sale. Finally picked up some games I had on wish list for a while:
DOOM Eternal
MK 11 Ultimate
Alien Isolation
Paper Mario Origami King
@Crockin After years of sales and coming close to pulling the trigger digitally and physically, I finally took the plunge on Mario + Rabies. With Sparks of Hope around the corner, figured I take the plunge
