At Sony's State of Play livestream today, the focus was on third-party and indie offerings. While it was a PlayStation event, some of the announcements were for other platforms, too.
As highlighted by our colleagues over at PushSquare, the highly-rated fantasy action-adventure Death's Door will be making its way across to the Nintendo Switch on 23rd November. It's developed by the two-person Manchester, UK indie studio Acid Nerve (Titan Souls) and is published by Devolver Digital.
As noted in the official description of the game, you'll operate as a crow who must reap the souls of the dead as they race against the clock. Things get a bit more interesting when your assigned soul is stolen and you must track down a thief by travelling to a realm untouched by death. Here creatures grow far past their expiry and overflow with greed and power.
Your task, as the player, will be to slay countless enemies, solve puzzles and defeat some rather large boss-like enemies.
Will you be picking up this indie gem? Have you already played this game elsewhere? Leave a comment down below.

Happy I held off buying it on Steam! This screamed Switch from the start!
Amazing! I played this on Xbox and thought it would be a perfect fit for the Switch. Very much Zelda inspired.
This made my day, I've been hoping for a Switch port for a while! Can't wait to finally play this
Bought it on Xbox, this is a great game!
Fantastic news! Death's Door is one of the best games I played this year. I recommend it specially if you are into classic Zelda-like games. There are just a few good ones, and this is one of them.
I'll double dip on Switch for sure.
I completed this game on steam. It's my GOTY. If you are fan of Zelda, Hyper Light Drifter, Moonlighter and other games in the action adventure genre do not sleep on this game.
Oh yeah !! Was looking forward to this one and held off for the switch version
Ooh I've been waiting for this.
Currently playing this on PC. It's a great game, glad it's coming to more platforms.
This is amazing! I played and beat the game on the Series X, and now I can’t wait to 100% the game on the Switch. This honestly made my day.
The fact that this developer made Titan Souls is enough to grab my interest. I love that game and have played it multiple times.
Channelling the spirit of 2D Zelda games - looking forward to Deaths Door on Switch as I didn't want to buy it for PC
Nice to hear, gladly gonna check this out now.
Bought this on Series X as I thought it was gonna be exclusive…. Guess I’m buying it again!
So. Many. Games.
@kingbk ^This guy knows
Already played this on my xbox series s and loved it, but this is going to be an absolute must for Switch players who havent played it on other systems
Awesome! I've been hoping for a Switch port, glad I held out from buying it on PC
This is awesome news! Definitely gonna pick this up. Now we just need Tunic!
This game is absolutely brilliant. 100%ed it on Xbox series X. I highly, highly recommend it.
This has been on my radar for a while - great news
Delighted by this news, and a bit surprised to get it in such a low-key way. Death’s Door is one of the most raves about indies of the year, and I kind of thought we wouldn’t get it on Switch without it appearing in a Direct. This is great!
Over the moon that Death’s Door has finally been confirmed for Nintendo Switch. For my tastes, other than perhaps Little Devil Inside, it was the only decent game from last night’s entire State of Play presentation. And less than four weeks to wait. Excellent!
Speaking of Xbox exclusives, I’d love for Sable, Tunic and Twelve Minutes to also make the jump to Switch after they eventually pass their exclusivity period over on the Microsoft console.
Best news from yesterday state of play . This is a handheld game at its best!
This game is destined to be played in handheld mode.
@The_Pixel_King 12 minutes is a bad game and Tunic isn’t even out yet.
Playing this on Series X now. Assuming it runs well on Switch-and there’s really no reason it shouldn’t-this is very highly recommended. Class game.
People rave about this game and since I have that week off work, I'm tempted to buy this game.
Excellent! I actually held off buying it on PC in hopes it would come out on Switch!
@The_Pixel_King
It’s fine if you enjoy bad games ;-D
Tunic is a console launch exclusive, so the fact that it’s not out is kind of important to it releasing elsewhere.
@The_Pixel_King
I wasn’t asking you to, your majesty.
Nice! I heard a lot of great things about it. I'm not sure why, but I struggle to enjoy many isometric camera games - I even have trouble connecting with Bastion and am scared to try Hades and dislike it.
This one might draw me in to try.
Yes! For physical versions Special Reserve Games will have pre-orders for Switch and PS5 online on Nov. 23.
@DomGC Same here, waiting to see if the quality on Switch will be the same as in other platforms...
