Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Stellar Battles, But A Step Down From Arceus

Rosona

@Misima
That definitely isn't true. By that logic, all my games I play are not very good because i'm a perenial unfinisher.

No, its because of limited time, it's because I fancy playing something else, it's because I get distracted by a new shiny thing.

Yes some of the games do turn out to be bad and not for me, but largely they are not bad games as to the reason I stopped playing them.

A gaming journal has really helped me when it comes to going back to the games, and there is many great games in there that I just haven't gone back to continue with yet.

So while your idea is nice, it's very naive.

Re: Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma Latest Update Now Live, Here's What's Included

Rosona

@cdubbed
It is rubbish yes, but it isn't actually Marvelous at fault, or well entirely, it's Nintendo due to the way they decide to do the updates. While yes it does seem silly that if downloading X amount it cant just take the Y amount it needs of the download because the rest is in on the cartridge then delete the rest. Instead it seems to take all the updates/builds and just install them despite X amount not being needed.

I suppose there is a question as to why the orginal day 1 update file was so big, why there needed to be a day 1 one update (although that may have been to stop games being able to be played before release date of S2, I seem to recall Cyberpunk done similar, terrible idea though, not consumer friendly what so ever). Or maybe its something to do with it being a Switch 2 edition.
Or instead the update is a new build, which if it is, why do that as Marvelous?

So yeah, it's a bit of both, it is definitely a complete cart, but the day one update completely borks it.

Found this---
Hello Boris,

I had seen mentions of the large day 1 patch and asked our production team about it, and they responded that the "patch" contains the entire Switch 2 version that is already on the game card, hence why it is so much larger than it needs to be.

This is just the way the NSW/NSW2 enhanced games are set up to work right now, and though we've confirmed every future patch will not also need to include the full Switch 2 game again and again, we do not know if this same process will apply for the first day 1 patch on future new releases or not (always a lot of things need to be ironed out post-launch with new hardware launches).

Many users have already confirmed that the game plays just fine out of the box without internet connection so the day 1 patch does not appear to address any game-breaking issues or be necessary to start enjoying the game. Go ahead and give it a try with your Nintendo Switch 2 wi-fi turned off, the game should boot up fine with no internet.

I hope this helps, and thank you for your support.

Rosona

@RadioHedgeFund
It then isn't the same game exactly is it?

Sure yes, the dvd is available that had extras, but this is the blu ray with different extras and stuff removed.

Doesn't work does it? XD

As an aside, non touch controls i'd much rather for almost anything, especially this genre, cool that you enjoy it though.
Same goes for playing on mobile phones.

Re: Nintendo Is "Acting To Protect The Industry" With Switch 2 Game Key Cards, Says Ex-Capcom Composer

Rosona

@topsekret
The Switch 1 backwards compatibility is far from shoe horned onto Switch 2. It's actually the best thing about the console (which is worrying really), it brute forces Switch games to run better, sure the odd game will have issues, but that's like any sort of back compat or emulation. However if the game is programmed in such a way, it will be vastly improved on Switch 2 without a patch. The biggest issue, it just decides to chuck everything at it so consumes battery similar in vein to playing a Switch 2 game.

As for them being supported, aslong as it remains they same eshop, they wont remove Switch 1 capacity.

As for this " They have since updated the page to straight up say they plan to shut down the ability to redownload your Wii games. 3DS and Wii U will follow shortly thereafter." I can only see what you formally said, so where have you seen this change? Admittedly at some point yes, they will stop the ability.

Re: Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack Won't Offer Switch Upgrade Path Or Save Data Transfer

Rosona

@thehoppypoppy
YOu realise this isn't down to Nintendo don't you?

@SillyG
You are definitely being too charitable, considering there isn't physicals with english on S/SW, the reality of them never doing it previous doesn't make it ok.
They need the support to continue what they are doing and are simply losing customers(Fans too) for not doing anything of the sort.
With it's lack of physical too, there will be a lot that will no longer buy.

In a weird way despite owning all the Ateliers bar the remake of the first and Yumia on Switch physically, I'm not happy about the lack of physical but I am relieved, makes me feel like I don't need to buy and can settle with what I have.

But yeah, the issue is and why there is a bigger ask for an upgrade path is because its so soon after the originals released. It's the same generation and they are already doing a trilogy.

While I appreciate similar has been done with the Mysterious trilogy, that itself clearly had problems on Switch so was a more viable upgrade, this here, I'm not so sure.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

Rosona

@Rayquaza2510
You are already doing it here-
"I am not twisting his words, but it is the only logical conclusion to "Don't like them? don't buy them!"."
Which really didn't take long.

You are choosing to twist the meaning for it to be in your eyes sell the Switch 2, or whats the point in it (then very quickly stating a reason why to have the Switch 2 which then invalidates your ultimate point), which is not the case, he is talking about GKC only.
Don't like, don't buy, is very accurate.

I also referenced and replied specifically to your part about buying less games due to GKCs....

You are promoting valid points, but he was never saying sell your Switch 2, again, you have twisted it to be that due to your various reasons.

As for this -
"So no, you read wrong what I meant, so this is my more dumbded down explanation."
I cannot read wrong what you meant if you had already twisted the interpretation thus not made it clear, an I also cannot read wrong something that isn't there or explained which is why you then decided to write more explainign yourself.
You jumped to conclusions and assume what you believe is what everyone can see, to clarify your point so normal people can make sense of what you are trying to get at, you "dumbed down" when infact what you did was explain yourself so people could actually understand your incorrect point as again, he was referencing GKCs, you twisted it to mean far more.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

Rosona

@Rayquaza2510
Nope, that does not appear to be his logic, he isn't saying sell Switch 2, you have twisted it to state that.

This however "No option for true physical will make me buy less Switch 2 games, but I know I am the minority and most people will buy these games without issues, game key card or not."
Is likely going to be the case for a lot of people, chart sales seem to suggest this already, an physical die hards simply wont buy the game, this won't just be you. There will cetainly be a portion and perhaps a bigger portion than expected which will buy GCK, but I dont think it will be without issues, it will be because they can't get it physical or assumed it was physical, thats very different.

Re: Feature: 22 Games With 'Secret' Performance Bumps You Should Revisit On Switch 2

Rosona

@SabreLevant
"I literally said I was expecting implicit performance boosts"
Funnily enough, that is exactly what happens, but you seem to not be accepting it as such and trolling the guy @DashKappei who has graciously done very reasonable explanations and replies to you.

In its simplest you can't change a frame cap that was there to allow the game to run and baked into the game, it is not possible for a system to do that, however it can bruteforce it and make it stable 30fps and in some case look better if its a dynamic resolution.
The only way (which by the way, FPS or 60fps which you appear to be craving, are not everything, that isn't the defacto to say a game runs better) to take off a frame cap is for it to be updated to allow for that.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

Rosona

Funnily enough, you're missing the part that happened at the same meeting where they consulted third parties about them before hand with the view to due to the size offer an option to have store space.

So while yes they suck, we can very much blame third parties.

It does effectively confirm what I thought may be the reason for them, Nintendo consulted third parties and got their opinions thus came up with the GCK.

We will never fully know what that consultation was and how it was put and we can assume they only consulted with the big publishers, but it does suggest they would opt not to use physical and only do digital.

The space reason to a degree you can get, if it doesn't fit on a 64gb card. But yes they could make bigger cards.
However we do know the tech is cuurrently expensive, in time this will fet cheaper, but not yet. Nintendo needed something for third parties now.

Re: Techland Skips Dying Light 'Retouched' Upgrade For Switch, Says There Are No Plans For A Switch 2 Version

Rosona

@Whirlwound
I think you're jumping to the dramitic and negative here. It is still very much early doors, its new tech and we know many developers apart from big hitters did not get dev kits prior to release. An that point answers alot about your worries.

We also know some new games likely would not run on switch 2 no matter how much it's wanted, its ultimately handheld, thems the breaks. I think we should be thankful for the fact its much more powerful than any of us expected.

You mention about Tiny Tina, but to be frank apart from the fact every Borderlands was on switch, we sure dont need that game on S2 just because.

EA are wazzoks, always have been, always will be.

It won't end up being a GC or Dreamcast, by that logic the Switch absolutely would have, but we all know how that went.

Take a step back, relax.

@Divide_and_Wander
Yeah it is I managed to grab it physically at a reasonable price, I haven't tried it on S2 yet though.

Re: Little Nightmares 3 And Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition Announced For Switch 2

Rosona

Well, due to technical limitations, I won't be supporting the game.

This clearly means they wont bother to patch either lm1 or 2 to work better on Switch 2 either.

What a horrendous reason, they are giving it free to existing owners on other platforms but not Nintendo. Especially when this enahanced version will be on Switch 2, let it be free to owners of the Switch version, there isn't any real excuse for this.

Re: Best Rune Factory Games Of All Time

Rosona

@JohnnyMind @Joeynator3000
In regards to this, I haven't yet tried it myself but a stable 30 is huge for it, graphically I never found it particularly poor.

Yesterday I ended up trying out Sonic Frontiers on Switch 2 and was blown away, then went back to it on Switch and dam, it really is night and day, yes it is still only 30fps, but that is locked in, it looks so much better, while pop in does still exist (which exists on all versions) it is definitely better.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch

Rosona

@SirLink
The trouble here is, you are deciding to use drift as a historical thing and decide to apply it to Switch 2 withouit evidence of it yet. That's the issue, you are using one argument for 2 different, but related things.

Note regardless of what the sticks are they can still be dead on arrival. That's just electronics. That doesn't mean there is then X problem at large.

The way you add "It has never happened to me because I treat the joycons delicately and I have changed consoles quite often" reaks of elitism and assumption, you can get drift even if you are careful, you have just been lucky.

"As shown by TronicsFix"
Essentially and actually the same are different, they look similar sure, but there are differences, these differences could be the key, an how that plays out, time will tell.
But to assume its already here and widespread is complete negative balony.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch

Rosona

@SirLink
Worth noting of course, that makes Odyssey a more intensive game due to the upgrades, so in a sense isn't the fairest test.

A better one would be a game that doesn't have a switch 2 update then comparing.

And no, the joy cons arent already prone to drifting. You say at as fact when it simply isn't, you don't know, I don't know.
An the post on reddit, was not drift.

Re: PSA: Got A Switch 2 Pro Controller? This Little Capture Trick Is A Game-Changer

Rosona

@sanderev
Also having multiple colors at launch would limit the amount per color you could buy.
That's terrible reasoning. Just make enough/even split, easy really.

I definitely agree with @The_Nintend_Pedant on its appearence, it is bland, certainly due to appearence it made me far less inclined to get one, I decided to fix the drift on my Splatoon 2 one instead. Had there been different colours or desings I may well have gone for it.

I think too the switch 2 itself does look pretty bland, I enjoyed the neon, im glad it atleast has some vague colour, but there really should have been move options than just "black and adult". I get what Nintendo are trying to go for any why they haven't, but it is still dissapointing in that regard.
Seems to back up the "its ok to still only have black and white as themes.....".

Re: Mario Kart World Was Originally In Development For Switch 1

Rosona

@Grumblevolcano
I think the only flaw with your point is that the media in carts costs more than blu ray, an with this new format clearly even more so.

You could argue comparing the digital price of MKW with th 70 of Sony is fairer, or more equal so a few bucks ontop of the digital price to affectively acommodate like for like.
This then most definitely brings it inline with 70.

Re: Nintendo: "Physical Games Are Still A Key Part Of Our Business"

Rosona

@SillyG Except it then wouldn't be a Switch 2 copy, I do get your point, but of course it is then effectively emulating a Switch game...

@gamma64 perhaps it's because it's the minimum size that they can actually manufacture it at.

@sethfranum You don't know that at all and you are disregarding what the smallest possible card for the technology potentially is.

@Arawn93 it's actually pretty easy too, look at my prior comment.

@nebzila we already know anything he says is pretty vague, he's said it like this just incase Ninty unfortunately change their mind with regards to first party. You said it yourself, it's just business talk. Thus I wouldn't be too concerned about that turn of phrase.

Re: Nintendo: "Physical Games Are Still A Key Part Of Our Business"

Rosona

@McMongoose
They could, but it's likely less about that.
Primarily its third parties being cheap.

Although, bear in mind the smallest size that can be done with the current best micro sd (ignoring the express that Ninty will use) is 32gb, whats not to say that the express can't actually be smaller than 64gb?
An if the rumored 12$ is true then you can understand why Nnty felt like they had to come up with something else thats cheaper for publishers to buy.

Re: Nintendo Updates Its User Agreement To Crack Down On Emulation

Rosona

@PinballBuzzbro
That's complete bollards though. The people doing it would still do it even if the games were cheaper and Ninty weren't wrongfully/rightfully going after the Palword devs.

The proof is in the pudding, you can see it all over this comment thread, it's damning and frankly not at all suprising they have said this.

Re: Atlus Reveals 'RAIDOU Remastered' Switch 2 Performance And Resolution

Rosona

@Dang_69
Way to go to miss my entire post. you should re read rather than believe you are correct in your own fury.

You clearly still haven't considered what I said and why Ninty opted to do what they have done.

You are deciding a widely reported "rumor" is true re cart size, funnily enough disregarding the very same "rumors" that there are two different cart sizes and GCK. The simple fact is, we don't know.

Bringing up Switch 3 here is weird, the same physical insertion point ruins physical media which is a bigger problem then false physical media not being accessible.

You are purely speculating re the value of the GCK, if its the only "physical media" for X game, it will likely keep the value what second hand games keep now. Yes some digital games do actually get permenant price cuts, but they are generally from ones that dont have a physical presence in the first place.

Yes you can be upset, I get it, but it would be worth taking on what other people say that isn't just hate bearing Ninty.

Ninty if anything probably couldn't win, we would be moaning if they still used standard sd cards and had ultimately slower loading times for a much more powerful device due to where its reading the memory. An if not that, it would be something else.

Ninty have given us ultimately what we wanted from the Switch 2 with the caveat of the GCK, which again, in my former post i have suggested thoughts on as to why that may be the case.

Ninty haven't forwarded the death of physical, the cheap publishers have, they are the real people to blame.

Heck if Marvelous of all publishers can offer physicals, the other big ones sure can. Unfortunately EA are a bunch of cheap cretins. An the reputation of other reputable highly regarded publishers has unfortunately been hit and miss for a long while now for varying reasons, which sadly means they are only ever caring about profits.

Going forwards over the next year or so, it will be interesting to see how stuff changes with sales and the like. I do think we will see a difference in purchasing and not due to the price, but time will tell.

Re: Limited Run's Atlus Switch 2 Collector's Edition Is A 'Game-Key Card' Release

Rosona

@jojobar
Clearly the comment I was responding too, you seem not to want to find it so here it is -

"When take into account that 90% of Switch 2 games are just game key card, then the Switch 2 is a dead system. It has no real games or at this point it's just a digital download system. An Ouya in disguise."

90% of Switch 2 games are not just game key cards. It clearly too, isn't a dead system, if it was pre orders for it would not keep selling out.
Further, it does have real games, and it's far from the catastophe of Ouya, that's already very evident.

Re: Atlus Reveals 'RAIDOU Remastered' Switch 2 Performance And Resolution

Rosona

@Dang_69
One you don't know that.

Two, what if Nintendo realised the cost of the new media was going to be a problem?
An that many cheap third party publishers wont want to pay? Perhaps they even done a survey (which would never know, but they sure can't say because they want the publishers to back the console).
Thus a want for some form of comprimise was figured out by Ninty as Ninty want a physical presence.

Lets face it, as much as game key cards suck, they are definitely better then a purely digital copy, if the option was only expensive 64gb media or digital only. You can bet your bottom dollar the pubslishers would go for digital only.

Three, I most definitely agree with your last line, it will do exactly the same for me and likely many others. Which in someways is a good thing, but it absolutely isn't something you want really.
