Re: Nintendo Wants To Know What Switch "Groups" You've Created Since The Latest Firmware Update

Rosona

@chardir
I envy your ability to not purchase many games aha XD
That 12 is useless, especially you happen to be popping in games to get the gold points the play them at some point in the future.
While I get the point you're making, it just doesn't work for bigger libraries.

The amount of top tier games that I have adored, not finished then faded away due to new games (getting distracted and needing a break, so different genre or a time period break) is crazy.
I'm like a magpie really(fitting when I support Newcastle United) with a love of collecting, but also easily distracted by a new shiny thing even if it may end up not being so good.

Re: Nintendo Wants To Know What Switch "Groups" You've Created Since The Latest Firmware Update

Rosona

@BenAV
You can but he is likely like me in being reluctant to do so just in case until the game is played.

That aside, I find it odd that your original comment implies that you thought how the sorting system was and lack of folders was acceptable.
It wasn't, while sure even if you have a lot of games it doesn't take that long to find but your then missing the ones that you potentially forget about because its such a mess. This is where folders (while I haven't created any yet) will be a godsend, it's such a simple valuable feature that I welcome with open arms.

@robr
Hmmm could you leave again then maybe we may get themes or gameplay tracker

Re: Darkrai And Arceus Arrive In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Today

Rosona

@wazlon @metroid02
You're both clearly Pokemon fans, I don't understand how you wouldn't be interested or want to get and play PLA, it's an incredible game, an in a lot of ways what many fans always dreamed of for the series.
It's such a breath of fresh air, an it's differences make it seem more like your playing BOTW then a typical Pokemon game.

While the requirements are perhaps unnecessarily high, I can't exactly malign it because I think it's a nice little gift for the fans who have done both.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Triangle Strategy

Rosona

@invictus4000
It's not that at all, the Triangle in the name references the 3 houses, the strategy references what kind of gamer it is. I really do see no issue.

You quote Final Fantasy, but lets be honest, that name is no worse or better than Triangle Strategy, there is an argument to be made FF is worse, it's only because we know of at that we let it slide and have grown to adore it.

Re: Talking Point: A Poképro And A Pokénoob Discuss Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Rosona

You lost me here @KateGray -

Kate: Dragon Quest is actually a great comparison. My partner and I talk about how DQ11 is basically made for salarymen – people who work long shifts and want to switch their brain off when they come home. It’s a game that’s designed to be engaging and compelling, but it’s pretty much just a checkbox simulator!

One of the greatest JRPGs of recent times is just a checkbox simulator?! I'm not convinced you played it, there's a certain part somewhat early on that hits you hard emotionally like no checkbox simulator could. I fail to even see how it can be regarded as one too.

I found this article an interesting read, but I struggle to see why as the alleged pokefan of the article, you find yourself unable to recommend this game?
It's like you cannot allow yourself to truly get sucked into it and enjoy it. Like you almost want to dislike it rather than just loving it and that's a real shame.
It's ok to not like Pokemon anymore, it's also ok to like it and also ok to love it, but you seem completely torn like you don't know where your foot stands in regards to the series anymore, thus being the Pokemon side of the article, you shouldn't have been.

There was more then enough tutorial imo, sure there were certainly bits to discover that I didn't know right away, an I'm hoping for others too, but that is part of it's charm, part of it's design too I'm sure.
BOTW told you stuff in either a very quick go over, not at all, or a vague way deliberately, the discovery that game had is partly due to this, it forces you to learn and discover things by great game design instead. Very much like PLA is trying to do.

PLA I feel is better than anyone expected, what a lot of people hoped SW/SH would be and an absolute homerun of a game after the consensus that BD/SP got and SW/SH before it.

I honestly hope you continue to play it and fall in love with it like many of us clearly have going by the comments.

The graphics argument though, it really isn't that bad or even pants. It's got it's style and ran with it, sure pop in bits (especially the very early bits) and textures on clothes should have been fixed prior to launch (whether they will is anyone's guess) but this game is on Switch hardware, we can't expect miracles, plus who plays Pokemon for the graphics?

Re: Video: Side-By-Side Comparison Of Pokémon's Diamond And Pearl Remakes Running On Every Switch

Rosona

@Crono1973
That clearly isn't your point going by your original post of ---

You don't think Nintendo gets special treatment that other companies wouldn't get?

Still, side by side, with both in my hands right now, the oled screen is much better.

...but is it better than your smartphone OLED screen and if not, why is it such a big deal when Nintendo releases a system with an OLED screen?

Again, that isn't comparing OLED to OLED, that's games console to mobile phone, thus apples to oranges.

Re: UK Charts: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Make Dominant Debut

Rosona

@Peach64
I feel you were expecting too much of what these were going to be after what the trailers showed.
Yes there had been a prior president of the remakes being in the new engine ( I would have happily took it if it was the SW&SH engine) but I feel at this time it's a bit of a different situation.

Partly due to it not being Game Freak developing, partly due to in some ways SW&SH not being well received (why do you think they are doing Arceus rather than Gen 9? They probably want to test the waters before pulling the trigger on what Gen 9 will be) but also the fact it has felt like a little while now since we had classic Pokemon and it hasn't yet been on the system so there was a hunger for it.

While that is only 4 years, I personally have enjoyed playing classic Pokemon with the QOL improvements, it's been refreshing, the fact that I never properly played gen 4 the first time has helped (didn't have a DS at the time).

I do however think they should of had the platinum content so the battle frontier (unsure of what else is missing to be fair) and the exp share should have been a toggle (albeit they have already set a president that it isn't) and thus a definitive gen 4 remake.

I think you are right to feel somewhat aggrieved about the change in remake style, but the trailers did show it was not going to be that.
Again it's somewhat of a shame it isn't, but equally they never said they would be.

Re: Talking Point: Will Nintendo Abandon The Switch Concept For Its Next Console?

Rosona

Nope.

Considering the Switch is what design suggested they wanted the Wii U to be and the fact they want to stay in the handheld market as well as be home console, I don't see it going back.
The Switch is an incredible success and still going strong and that's without a new ground breaking gaming gimmick (sure going from handheld to tv is big, but not in the same way as what motion control was at the time).

Re: Review: Blue Reflection: Second Light - A Stunning-Looking Anime Adventure

Rosona

@Specter_of-the_OLED
It is budget, it's made by Gust, but you are doing yourself a massive disservice by writing this off or any of Gusts games due to it, the Atelier franchise is fantastic!

I'm stoked to see that this got reviewed and rated so highly. I had an interest in it ever since it's announcement, was a little unsure due to the prior game and wondering how much if any you needed to play of it.
I then played the demo and loved it, an instant pre-order it became.

I urge anyone on the fence to try the substantial demo, there is actually two parts too it, the prologue and another part. Completing the prologue gives you a save complete file to unlock a couple of goodies on the main game, the other part to the demo doesn't reward anything and is only for people that really want to get more out of it (somewhat felt almost spoilery in regards to the extra characters that appear and likely extra moves they have in combat so didn't proceed).

Again expected to see a 6 or a 7 here, but 9

Re: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Trailer Shows Off Bad Guys, Gyms, And DLC

Rosona

@Xiovanni
Do you have any more hate to give?

Remember a games consoles success is from it's library of games, sure the Switch could implement many features to it's OS to make it that bit better (folders, wallpapers/themes, activity log (I miss this the most)), but it is a raging success with a phenomenal library of games that keeps getting added too.

The virtual console isn't dead either, they have just added extra platforms for more money, which tbh I am against, but saying Ninty has gone downhill since Iwata left is hilarious.

Re: Monster Hunter Rise Version 3.5.0 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Rosona

@iaLgan
Clearly you just want to hate on the game considering your later comments about World etc, no clue why, but get over yourself!

The controls don't suck, if they did, there would be far, far more people than you and a select few others pointing it out.
Believe it or not this is the first time I've come across someone saying the controls suck.

I really wanted to say "Git gud" but you have a history with MH and it seems you refuse to see the brilliance of this one, your loss.

Re: Switch OLED Model Rates 2 Out Of 10 On Screen Durability Scratch Test

Rosona

I think you were right to post this article.

I ummed and arred about getting one for mine as I am careful, however, the OG switch even being super careful I ended up getting some very light scratches on so immediately got a protector, I put that down to the plastic screen.

With the OLED partly due to lack of clarity whether it was needed or not (in that was a it a glass screen or not) I didn't until just yesterday (had since release).
While interestingly and annoyingly I cleaned it up for the most part with a cleaning cloth but there was still a coating, so I had to clean a bit more thoroughly, the issue, there must have been a particle on the cloth that I didn't realise as I'd managed to lightly scratch it in two different places (which wouldn't go, in fact the second one came about from trying to get rid of the first). While I couldn't see this particle, the fact that it scratched the 'protective film' so easily meant I was definitely putting on that screen protector right away.

Conclusion, even when you are super careful, you can have accidents or make mistakes, the screens are naturally not good at repelling scratches unfortunately so I urge people to grab one.

Re: Review: Dungeon Encounters - Square Enix Strips Away RPG Finery To Expose The Meaty Bones Beneath

Rosona

@BulbasaurusRex
I mean it somewhat depends on what the RPG is going for to be fair, It is generally pretty darn important, but isn't always the be all and end all. In this case because of what it is going for, it wont be as critical.
But yes typically speaking I too would want a good story, but it doesn't mean I'd ignore one that doesn't, sometimes the best games are light on story and open to your interpretation for the story.

I'm glad this got reviewed well although it is definitely priced too high for what it is.

Re: Feature: 8 Games That Missed Nintendo Hardware

Rosona

Beatemups on Youtube made a great point in regards to why Persona 5 hasn't yet come to Switch. He suggested that as Shin Megami Tensei V has been in development and hyped for so long and a nintendo exclusive, what with it now being the lesser series compared to the spin off (that's my opinion not his), they wouldn't want to release P5 so close as to not negatively affect sales. Thus post SMTV could then have a release of P5, could be an interesting summer fingers crossed.

I'd take a Nier Automata port too...

Re: Metroid Dread Studio Hit With Allegations Of Poor Organisation And Management

Rosona

@CharlieGirl
Stress is part of any job, that's the nature of life. But yes there should be measures or things in place so it doesn't get so bad, of course this varies from person to person. Nothing here is a case of "deal with that".

In regards to the game, you are missing out, if you are not willing to support the developer because of allegations like this, you should probably just stop buying anything corporate, which is incredibly hard not to do.

Re: Round Up: Here's What The Critics Think Of Nintendo Switch OLED

Rosona

Do I need it? No.
Did I want it on original reveal? No.

However seeing hands on and more imagery with the way the screen looks in size and vibrancy, the better audio (apparently), the fact that I am quite partial to playing in handheld even when I don't have too, the tasty new dock, the kickstand that is actually usable, the Newcastle United colours ( but also, um, I have the Zelda joycons...) and being able to save £31 on the rrp made me pull the trigger! XD

The excitement for it too is also really nice.

A bit of it was somewhat some FOMO too, but I'm happy to sell my v2 to balence.

Re: Monster Hunter Rise Has Now Shipped Over 7.5 Million Units

Rosona

@Strumpan
I disagree here tbh with you, while yes it is easier compared to past, I think what they have done is absolutely fine and a natural evolution to the series what with it becoming main stream.

Sure it will upset some people like yourself, but they haven't taken the core or heart of it away, it's just easier and more accessible.

Re: Random: IGN's 'Best Video Game Of All Time' Tournament Is Getting WILD

Rosona

@Strictlystyles
No, you don't understand that other people can have different opinions and you wrongly assume I am not a huge fan of Castlevania so then attempt to educate me on something I already know.
You evidently can never be wrong too.

You clearly misunderstand how well liked Resi 4 is and rightly so, it isn't wrong to compare one great game to another.
Stating childish at best is effectively stating you are a child because of how you have reacted and responded to something that is different to your opinion.

While some of your points are valid and I agree with in regards to the age range of voters.

I think we can agree that some matchups are not exactly fair ones, it probably would have worked better to do old versus old & so on then join up. Putting one of my favourite games of all time in FF7 against a modern great in BOTW is never going to go particularly well for the older game.

Re: Review: Castlevania Advance Collection - Utterly Essential Thanks To Aria Of Sorrow

Rosona

I think the cons here are pretty appalling, if even more emulation options was a common thing it might be valid, but they are often not.

Dracula x, subjective opinion but also just a bonus as it wasn't a gba game so shouldn't be a negative.

Your bias for Aria of Sorrow is horrendous, both Circle and Harmony are still great, it's only natural (although of course not always the case) that later games surpass the ones prior.

So really this reads as no cons as you are clearly trying to scrape problems.
It's price point too, makes this a 10/10 easy.
