@Slowdive Fair play to your last line but I just have to add one thing, you say about All Stars but it wasn't exactly a hard thing to predict so I wouldn't say that makes his word gospel.
@lighteningbolt79 That's exactly my point, they done 2 games, only 2 and never done it again. They realised it doesn't work pricing out your existing customer base, same for every other console manufacturer. Your paying for some enhanced performance which can be negligible at times. That's what will happen.
@Slowdive Wait, you mean they have all talked about here-say for a fictitious console? An we know it will release alongside BOTW2 because Jeff Grub, someone who as far as I can see has no relation to Ninty, says so. What a crazy world.
There is a huge assumption and disregard how difficult it will be to output 4k from a marginally upgraded console. At best this will be new 3ds all over again, it won't have exclusives. An lets say it does have a bigger screen, no way in hell it's phasing out the current switch.
Can't completely complain by this news but Legends should have been later, or if it was to be then release DP sooner. A 2 month gap for 2 likely big hitters seems far too small.
There is an awful lot of judging here already with claims that Legends is now going to have many problems and be poor due to the earlier release. Put down the pitchforks already, jeez! Sure what they shown suggested more develpoment was needed but equally we do not know what build was shown on how much they already have done on the game, for all we know that could have been alpha footage. Try looking at it a different way, the core development team to it likely moved to it when SS was released, with a small group staying to do the expansions (or you know they already had been made prior to SS release but yes money). With that idea they have had a fair amount of time and even longer by the time it's out.
Now that I think of it, I know I have many that I absolutely adore and are right up there. But the only 2 I'm hands down certain on is Final Fantasy 7 & 8 being my joint favourite games of all time where they have remained since they got there.
Most recent for breaking top 10 would have to be FF7R for certain, that may even be top 5. Rise comes very close but is still ongoing so I don't think it breaks it yet albeit it is my favourite MH.
It's incredibly difficult to judge really. But some others that are definitely around there are- Dark Souls Streets of Rage 2 Skate THPS2 BOTW Fire Emblem Birthright Pokemon Gold
@TheWingedAvenger Note one of the best srpg series of all time use a rock/paper/scissors system. It doesn't mean its bad or super basic which is what you are claiming with this line "I can play rock/paper/scissors with my hand - no need for a videogame version."
@samuraicop @Balta666 Sounds to me like neither of you played the first game, which was really special. Very good game with oodles of charm, no need at all to be worried.
@Paraka That's really not true, even if they said it was, could you really believe it considering most Atelier archs have been trilogies prior? (an the one prior being 4 games)
@KateGray That's very true, an it's such a shame when it doesn't quite click for you as a player despite all the hope in the world.
Like for me ACNL I really wanted to like but it just didn't click so I was hugely on the fence with the ACNH announcement. Although in this case ACNH clicked in a huge unexpected way for me at the time of its release and the few months after, but had I started it now, I know I wouldn't even get close to the 280 hours I put into it, I'm fairly certain I wouldn't really get into it at all, certainly don't see myself going back to it but equally don't want to part with the game just in case.
I realise that last paragraph is a bit of a mess in what I'm saying, but I think you get my point XD
As for the review score, I agree it can be tough and I think a .5 at least of every number bar 10 should be used to give a broader view. I enjoy the way a youtube channel called SwitchUp (you should check them out) do their reviews by giving 5 different areas a score out of 20 then a final percentage. Although you can tell when a game hasn't quite clicked with one of the two reviewers, an further, one of the reviewers is clearly more generous then the other. But then it is all subjective ultimately but critics should realise how much power their scores can have, an I suppose that's the issue with some scores going by the amount of games that seem to get an undeserved 8 on this site.
"...it made a handful of titles exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS. One of the first ones was Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, which no doubt provided some extra sales for the company. So it wouldn't be a surprise if a Switch revision followed a similar pattern."
There were only ever two games, albeit it should have been 3 (looks at Hyrule Warriors), do you not wonder why there wasn't more? I can't help but think it's because they didn't sell well so were not really worth the effort. Could also be why they opted to release the definitive edition of XC on switch and already had ports of FEW and HW on the switch. I think too if you look at other consoles that have done similar, there hasn't really been exclusives for the pro machine, likely because of the same reason, splitting your userbase isn't recommended.
An still we have the same boring UI with QOL completely ignored, drifting to this day, no price drop in 4 years(that really is quite something, tells you how good the console really is) and a constant refusal from Nintendo to believe that problems raised about the machine (primarily the drift) are not actual issues.
Still, we love the console, an the incredible library of games it boasts, regardless of the amount of ports. Here's to another 4 years!
Nothing wrong with its graphical style. What you are effectively saying is that any game with "poor" graphics that could be on a smartphone is therefore bad or shouldn't be released. The logic there is horrific.
While the previewer choice is questionable after her Sakuna review (that strongly suggested that kind of game wasn't for her and I don't think it was the action part being referenced), her gripes in this do seem incredibly valid, which is a shame. Perhaps come review time it shows something different but it doesn't look promising.

I totally agree with some elements of this however in regards to B3, there could have at least been a couple of screenshots or something to suggest it really is still in development.

It isn't difficult to at least drip feed some information as oppose to none of it for something that is meant to be one of the biggest releases on the system, it doesn't even have to be much.
Also there is no harm in hype, while yes it can be detrimental, but at the same point it means you are on a potentially exciting ride up to the game and also when playing it. An there is no harm in enjoying that, it as some resemblance to the collector mentality however.

An my final point, a game can live up to and exceed your wildest dreams, it just may not have done yet, I have been lucky enough to have FF7R do that for me
@Donkey-Kong-Fan You sir are completely missing the point and make assumptions for things you don't know.
You clearly keep your rose tinted glasses on for anything from Nintendo, in your eyes they evidently can't put a foot wrong, an anyone who thinks differently is in your opinion wrong.
I'd suggest you not be so blind or elitist, it stinks.
£40 for a port of a 3DS game which is £10 over it's 3DS rrp, for an old game isn't on. If they would actually improve it or chain some bits it wouldn't be as bad, but here they should have done a sequel. Not an easy cash grab of a game that isn't that old.
@Jakiboy Your last line here in lies the problem of Ninty's choices regarding ports as of late. They know people will double dip or likely too partly due to no new first party and the want for 'new' games.
This is pretty inexcusable especially at it's price point. It should have been a sequel, no question about it. It's outright lazy, money grabbing tomfoolery to port a 3ds game and charge this much for it.
Shocking from Nintendo. It is this kind of thing that makes you start to lose faith in them.
@Anti-Matter You're too easy to please. Things like this shouldn't be the big announcements, there should be more, like some new actual first party software, some of which allegedly exist but we hear nothing on.

This isn't a 10 for me, not convinced any hd redo/upscale/remake in this vein deserves a 10. Afterall, they have most of the work done and there already.
Despite having it sitting sealed on the shelf I figured I would give it a go too and it definitely washed away the foul taste from Balan. It plays nicely, looks good, certainly has a botw feel, but in such away that its that genre of game. After all, not everything is just a clone of another game.
I think it's right for this to be berated, especially as most people's first play if it here is unsurprisingly on the switch.
It performs awfully, the off putting adaptive resolution, the consistent stutters, the graphics looking even worse due to the poor frame rate. The movement being clunky and sluggish, the lack of remote guidance (while sure it's fairly obvious) it made me feel theres no real reason to play the game, no reason to what collect gems and statues?
This is awful tbh, needs to be delayed and overhauled. Which is a shame.
On the positive, at least they didn't lie about the gameplay on the reveal
Don't get me wrong, Hades is undoubtedly a really good game, but it doesn't deserve to win all of them awards, especially not with some of the competition involved.
@Fandabidozi That's crazy lucky! Throughout my whole Pokémon career which practically includes each title but not their variants (a couple I didn't finish) I didn't encounter a shiny until Alpha Sapphire and that was when I was fish chaining, that was a Febas and I continued as I was trying to get Poliwag and did finally.
My most legit random shiny was Umbreon in Sun from sos battles where I was doing so to get a normal Umbreon. You could argue this is chaining too however despite not intending to go for that.
So yeah, whole Pokemon career and not one shiny that popped up from immediately entering a wild battle
@TheWingedAvenger If you genuinely believe the game flopped due to a review from a youtuber, you are delusional. Yes it would have had a bearing for some poeple, but it certainly was not the reason why it did flop.
Your points about Skyrim being black an white do not help your comment as it simply isn't true, yes the colour palette is somewhat monochrome but far from all of it, it helps establish the coldness of the world.
@Bunkerneath Hardly lying... there are plans for an expansion, nothing saying it's in development, you are just being a pedant
@TheLightSpirit Note how 'handful' was written like that? Clarifies alot, obviously I don't know an exact figure, but it doesn't make my point any less relevant.
@TheLightSpirit That simply isn't the case, the people that would vote with their wallets and complain are still ultimately a 'handfull'. You can't stop parents, friends and family that don't know any better from buying it as gifts or from the purchasers not being clued up on games in that way.
Joining the club about being a cheesed off European, I want to know mine too. Especially when if you move to a new console it forgets the time played if it wasn't one of your 20 most recently played.
Further though, an the biggest thing, they clearlytrack this data so should once again give us time graphs/lists of what we have played alah 3ds. I've always enjoyed looking at my playtime numbers like that and I imagine a lot of other people do too. To be completely honest, it is my most wanted update to the Switch with custom backgrounds coming second (not being able to change the colour is criminal let alone the fact you likely have all these epic screenshots on your system that you would like to see more of.

For the first "major" Direct in ages, this was a let down.

Note how 'handful' was written like that?
Clarifies alot, obviously I don't know an exact figure, but it doesn't make my point any less relevant.

That simply isn't the case, the people that would vote with their wallets and complain are still ultimately a 'handfull'.
