Re: Random: Nintendo Ironically Celebrates All Mario Switch Games With Fans, Weeks Before Wiping Some From Existence

ROBLOGNICK

Nintendo Life being Nintendo Life with the clickbait.

So let's be clear: The games are not being wiped from existence. If you bought them in physical format you will always have them.

It was announced before they were released that they would be discontinued at the end of March. People that want the game have had plenty of time to buy. There have certainly been no stock shortages that I've seen reported.

If you downloaded them they will always be on your Switch - make sure you keep them on an SD card otherwise long after the Switch is discontinued you may no longer be able to re-download them. This is not an issue unique to Nintendo Switch. You make that choice when you buy digital only. It is unreasonable to expect a any company to support an online infrastructure when the cost becomes greater than the return.

Do we know if Super Mario 35 will work after it's no longer available to download?

I'd also point out that Super Mario 35 was free to those with Nintendo Switch Online. Nintendo is under no obligation to support it forever.

But I don't get the point of them taking them off the online store. Super Mario 35 is a good way to get people interested in Nintendo Switch Online as its fun. Mario 3D All Stars is surely easy money for Nintendo with people still buying Nintendo Switches by the bucket load. Sure, don't produce the p
physical version anymore, but removing the digital one? Just weird business practices. All physical games eventually have their production discontinued.

Re: Reminder: You Can Now Download A Demo Of Immortals Fenyx Rising From The Switch eShop

ROBLOGNICK

I downloaded it and tried it. It was ... OK. The story was good and delivered in a fun way I've not really seen before in a game. The world was quite nice looking and seemed a little busier than Hyrule so that was good. The water is terrible. The climbing is not as good as BotW. The controls are overly complicated and not at all intuitive. I kept forgetting the countless number of combinations by the time any enemy of significance was on screen. Flying felt nice and so did the bow and arrow (the one that you can fly through those hoops to get the bonus chest was awesome!).

Re: Looks Like Nintendo Accidentally Used A Fan-Made Mario Render On Its Website

ROBLOGNICK

So the way you can tell is the texture on the moustache and the awful colouring around the eyes? Otherwise it's a direct copy.

What I find hilarious about this is that Nintendo (and other companies that have also done this) don't have a local server with all their images on. They just go on Google images and go, 'yeah I'll use that one' and not even care where it comes from. I guess it's their copyright really so there's not much artist can do I'd imagine.

It smarts a little though when you consider Nintendo take down all the fan created games and then go 'we'll take that and use it on our website thank you very much'.

Re: Mini Review: Picross S5 - You Know The Drill By Now, Surely?

ROBLOGNICK

I think these Picross S games are really sterile feel. They have no personality to them. I'm still on Picross S 1 and I don't think I'll bother with any others. I remember when they images you'd uncover would animate. The 3D version (first, not second) also had a good feel about it. Shame these don't recreate that magic.
