In case you missed it, Ubisoft has now released a demo for Immortals Fenyx Rising on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
This free demo has been released alongside the game's first DLC expansion and appears to be the same one originally launched on Google Stadia.
If you're more interested in the actual game but haven't got around to purchasing it just yet - it'll set you back $59.99 or your regional equivalent. You can also purchase the DLC packs for an additional $39.99.
Ubisoft has also announced Immortals Fenyx Rising crossover with UNO. No, we're not joking!

Good game. Just finished 2 nights ago. Highly recommend considering it's already on sale everywhere.
I'll give it a go.
Good to know, I'll try it soon.
The demo's gameplay was okay, but Zeus and Prometheus' banter got kinda grating after a while (though I'll admit that I smiled when they had their "what monsters did Fenyx fight?" argument; it was very Rocky & Bullwinkle). Definitely a discount title.
I played it and really enjoyed my time with it. Not sure what's going on, but still fun!
Bought this about 3 weeks ago...its actually pretty good...but I would say grab at $40 or less.
I have been wondering if I should buy it or not I'm so going to try it out. I wonder how long the demo is, also this might wash the bad tast balen left in my mouth.
Sure, I'll give it a shot. I've been curious about this one.
So if one were to play this demo, could the save file from the demo be transfer to the full game? Asking for a friend who wanted the game but want to try it first before buying.
It was ok. Nothing much else to say about it really.
Downloaded yesterday. Hope I enjoy it. I’m sure I will
I have nothing against the game. It looks really good. But if I'm going to invest anytime into a game like this I'd rather play Breath of the Wild again.
Makes me wonder: There's a Ubisoft reward that you can only get if you played the Stadia demo. Now that the demo is on Switch, can I finally obtain that reward?
As for the game: It is a lovely game, a big game with puzzles on the overworld (better integrated then botw). But the humour is very corny and the "shrines" are far less fun, much more frustrating (and that comes for a big part because you fall into abysses all off the time). But overall I would say this game has much harder puzzles then botw, but botw has more variety. In the end botw stays the better game though, but Immortals isn't a bad thing for people who crave more of this kind of gameplay.
Had this 5 days, played it 7 hours so far. Its a bit ubisofty, lots of map markers (if you add them) but it's good fun. I feel like I'm following map markers rather than wandering and finding things though. Where as playing Breath of the Wild I found I'd wander around and head for things I could see. That's my main gripe. I think it was also easier to see something in the open and head towards in in Breath of the Wild, here I'd walk past things!
Also surprised me how far away from the screen your character is.
Give it a go guys, it's actually a nice fun game.
Meh played the demo, played like a lazy version of BOTW.
@Sabrewing I felt the same way about the demo, but for some reason it is a lot less grating in the full game. I had few laugh-out-loud moments so far, especially if you know a thing or two about Greek mythology.
@Snatcher It will.
Despite having it sitting sealed on the shelf I figured I would give it a go too and it definitely washed away the foul taste from Balan. It plays nicely, looks good, certainly has a botw feel, but in such away that its that genre of game. After all, not everything is just a clone of another game.
I picked it up on Playstation and have enjoyed it. Bright, colourful and quite light-hearted. A few people have mentioned the banter between Zeus and Prometheus as corny but I found some of it laugh out loud funny, Might be me though... Its fun just running about and finding stuff as there always seems to be one more thing to do, chest, challenge, group of monsters to fight... It doesn't take itself too seriously and I don't think the player should either...
Downloaded it last night and will play later - I'm guessing, based on videos and reviews, that me playing my Switch mostly with sound low will benefit me by not hearing the 'bantz'
Played the demo (portable) and finished it. Damn it, now I want MORE!! I loved it!
Problem is... I also want the DLCs, as they look amazing offering new experiences, so I´d rather get the full version of the game, all at once, and there´s not a physical version of the Gold Edition yet (and I want to have everything physical). I guess I can wait for it, but wow, I really loved the demo. It looks and plays great.
@GTHOLLAND What...??? It has nothing to do with BotW, except for the art style, maybe. The way the character moves, the combat, the way the story is told, the atmosphere... Everything is different. It´s actually more an Assassins Creed with a different art style (more cartoonish), a fantastic story, rather than a reallistic one, and a few ideas got from Botw. But just a few, everything feels different. So can we stop comparing pretty much every game with BotW now, please??
By the way, BotW copied a lot of things from AC, among others. Did you complain about that, too?
@Ghost_of_Hasashi The demo takes place in a completely different region from the main game and doesn't take place at the start of the game, so no the save data can't be transferred.
@the_beaver I like the game and it's worth playing, but it's about 80% a copy of Breath of the Wild. And BotW does everything a little better.
@citizenerased I played the demo and it didn´t feel like BotW, except for the art style (it´s just cartoon, anyway), and a couple of details. Inmortals feels like the last Assassins Creed with a different atmosphere and mix of other ideas got from here and there. BotW among them, of course (why not? It´s an excellent game), but BotW got many ideas from the previous AC, so...
I downloaded it and tried it. It was ... OK. The story was good and delivered in a fun way I've not really seen before in a game. The world was quite nice looking and seemed a little busier than Hyrule so that was good. The water is terrible. The climbing is not as good as BotW. The controls are overly complicated and not at all intuitive. I kept forgetting the countless number of combinations by the time any enemy of significance was on screen. Flying felt nice and so did the bow and arrow (the one that you can fly through those hoops to get the bonus chest was awesome!).
This game has the most bizarre control set up in the world. Trigger buttons for melee attacks?
I changed that straight away and then had to glide of a cliff and plummeted to the ground almost dying lol. My config had disabled A for gliding.
I find this a small but impacting problem for me. I just played 10hours of monster Hunter where attack were Y & A. The game before that had attack as X&Y and now this. It’s not just the controls that vary so wildly either. It’s the level of customisation available. I remember thinking ‘thank god’ that I could change jump in BOTW from Y to B because that was a complete non starter. The built in control mapping on Switch is a fix but isn’t without its own problems.
@the_beaver
BotW owes a lot to the AC series for sure, climbing freely is a game changer. But whereas BotW blends ideas from Skyrim, Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption and adds a bunch of ideas of its own (god I love that chemistry engine), Immortals feels like Ubisoft told its AC studio "let's get as close to BotW as we can, gameplay-wise". Check out this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSuMZyCWqLQ
It does an admirable job, it's a good game, but it's clearly derivative from one source. Definitely looking forward to what the team does next, they only had 2 years for Immortals, after all.
@meeto_1 There's lots of control options, thankfully.
It seems like the demo is in a particular region that you cannot leave - is that right?
So no timeouts, reduced functionality, items, etc?
@Rambler That's correct, it's a region that isn't in the main game and you're free to explore it. Good call by Ubisoft.
@meeto_1 I agree, I also changed the control scheme right away lol. I can´t use triggers to fight, I just can´t, it feels very unconfortable. I experimented a bit until I found a good configuration, then it played great. Imo it should be like that from the beggining. Who fights with R and ZR...?
@the_beaver I think this setup is similar to other Ubisoft games which I don’t typically play. So I guess for those who play AC maybe it’s normal?
To me it’s the most bizarre thing in the world.
@citizenerased In my opinion, it feels pretty different from BotW, much faster, more focused in the action, more... arcade, if you know what I mean. From what I´ve played, this is clearly a game focused on being fast and fun, while BotW is much more inmersive, slow pace; an RPG kind of game. You can say both are similar, but in fact, the last Assassins Creeds specially are also similar to BotW in a way. It´s just the same type of game. Open world adventures.
It´s like comparing Trials of Mana with Ys VIII. Both are action RPGs, both games offer a similar experience and have many things in common (even the graphics), but it feels pretty different when you play them. And both are excellent games, by the way XD
@the_beaver
Woah
Somebody got out the wrong side of the bed this morning.
It has been compared to BOTW. It looks like it. Yes it plays differently because if it didn't then that would be plagiarism.
My point being was that instead of jumping into this game I would prefer to spend my time with Zelda.
It looks like a good game but when it was released it was 50 quid. Now you can buy it for 25 quid. It's a poor man's version of BOTW. Now they have released a demo to entice more people to buy it because it hasn't sold that well.
The way you defended it makes it sound like you work for Ubisoft
@GTHOLLAND I don´t even have the game lol, I just played the demo. Sorry if I sound grumpy, but I don´t like the common way of thinking: "this game looks like a game I like, so instead of giving it a shot, I´d rather play that game again and again" XD. I mean, yes, maybe they have a lot of things in common, but try the demo at least, and you´ll see it´s a pretty different kind of game. And well, even if it doesn´t feel like that for you, it´s based on greek mithology! Only for that it´s worth a try lol.
And have you seen the second DLC? Eastern mithology!
Many thanks for the confirmation, @citizenerased - it's greatly appreciated
And yeah, it's a great way of doing a demo. Kudos to Ubisoft
Have the full game on PS5 (when on sale for £30) and I quite like it so far. But the handheld convenience of Switch makes me wish I opted for that version instead.
With the demo I can check out how much it really is downgraded, and if I still enjoy it, maybe crazy enough to double dip (when the game drops even further in price! maybe £15-20).
I THINK I can transfer my PS5 save via the cloud...??
After playing the demo, i just bought the game today. i like it
how many addons will be released? i guess a minimum of 3? otherwise the season pass won‘t be good right?
@lovesushi me too! I've been on the fence about this game, since it hit $30. But with everyone comparing it to valhalla/GoW/BoTW I was hesitant to buy it. The demo helped a lot. It takes the combat of GoW and mixes it with the traversal of BoTW.
The voice acting does grate on me, at times. I half expect them to sell me a used car.
Zeus: for you friend, today only. Buy car, get fourth wheel free. It's good deal.
Interested to play this.
Currently working through Horizon ZD but will try the demo. Probably on PS4 where it'll be fully realized. I might also try it on Switch just to see how much the graphics were chopped down.
This game is better than many give it credit for. I really like how it has adjustable nlevels of difficulty.
Downloaded the demo late last night. Is it just me or does the Nintendo Switch eShop list their demos in just a random order? Balan Wonderworld, which also had a demo release yesterday, was right at the top but Immortals was about halfway down. Not sure why new demos aren't at the top.
Also downloaded Balan and Immortals demos on PS4 yesterday so I'll get to play each twice to compare. Nice to have some game parity w/ Sony.
Wish they'd put it out earlier, then I could have bought something else. I'm bored with it and I'm past tutorial island.
@countzero That's a relief to know, at least.
@citizenerased thanks for sharing the video. It is pretty funny (is that the right word here?) to see them side-by-side. I really enjoy both games for their similarities and differences. The controls in IFR do take a bit to adjust to, and I like the more open exploring available in BOTW (but there’s also something to be said about finding something around every single corner in IFR). I have 150 hours in BOTW and 90 in IFR and think they are both really fun games to play, probably because they are so similar. I thought I was going to be bothered by the Zeus/Prometheus duo, but they really aren’t talking all that much, and some of it is actually pretty funny! The stupid parts I just ignore, they don’t last too long (and the overall story is captivating, IMO). My biggest complaint is that I can’t use Far Sight to scout without revealing anything, so I just don’t use it.
TLDR it’s nice to get a fresh perspective on a game I love, even if it does take a whole lot of its mechanics.
Been thinking on buying this game or not. Thanks to this demo my decision is a NO. Played about 10 minutes, deleted, never looking back.
Terrible graphics and performance.
Unengaging and lazy storytelling. It doesn't help that most of it happens in the background while you're battling with the controls. Just two try hard voice actors duking it out to bro it to the teenagers.
Ugh. This ***** got old way back in Fable 1.
@Henmii I wondered the same about the Ubisoft reward and came here to ask that very question!
Despite some people saying "meh" I've really enjoyed playing this game.
It's not a bad game, I probably will replay the demo and intentional get lost to see what it offers fully. But there is a lot of Ubisoft feeling to this game, much like Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, and Starlink. The UI and Gameplay just have that same sort of look and feel. Not a bad thing but you can tell this is a Ubisoft game.
@rjejr
IIRC, I believe demos (and games) are listed by "Most Popular" and you have to change the filter to "Release Date (newest to oldest)" for them to be in release date order. I hope this helps. 🤔
I mean, I feel like both demos will definitely be better on PS4, but the question is by how much better will they be. 🤔
@SM3DASislit Thanks for the heads up on the demo list. Makes sense I guess. I'll check next time.
I like checking the demos on each mostly to see if I can even tell the difference. Sure, anybody can see a difference if you're running some frame counting software, but how does it look after playing for 20 minutes and you're into the game, not the technicals?
Tried the demo and the whole time I’m just telling myself that I’d rather just play Breath of the Wild, a far superior game. Pass.
Grabbed it for $30 and absolutely love it. I think in some ways it falls short of BOTW, but in other ways it far surpasses it.
@rjejr
Glad I could help you out.
That's true, while I do prefer games running @ 60fps, I don't mind they're @ 30fps, as long as the 30fps is stable. I saw a comparison of the Balan Wonderworld demos, and I feel like the Switch version needs more optimization, and the other versions could have a couple of things changed. (I haven't played the demo yet, so we'll see if what I think changes). 🤔
I don't want to play with The God that betrays me.
@SM3DASislit "Balan Wonderworld demo"
Played it on Switch. It could have been running at 2,400 FPS and at 8k, wasn't going to help. My wife walked in the room and asked why I was playing Spyro. She thought I was playing a PS1 game.
Haven't even tried it on PS4, no point.
Immortals ran well on Switch, well as well as any game can w/ the Joycon drift. Will give that one a go on PS4 and probably buy it at some point.
@rjejr
Sorry for the very, very late reply. I've just been busy recently.
Sorry to hear that you weren't able to enjoy the Balan Wonderworld demo. I've tried the demo a little bit of it, and I liked it. I'm definitely going to try it again.
Your wife thought it was a PS1 Game?! Yikes, that's a super oof.
At least you enjoyed the Immortals Fenyx Rising demo. 🤔
@SM3DASislit No problem with the late reply. I just posted a link to a 2 year old article where I predicted Splatoon 3, though I thought it would be out this year. Can't have everything. 😂
