The latest Wii U port has landed on Switch, and this one's a biggie: the excellent Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is out today.
A rerelease of the original Wii U game, but with some subtle yet welcome improvements, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury offers lots of fantastic gameplay for single players or co-op fans. This time around, the game includes a new Bowser's Fury expansion, where Mario and Bowser Jr. explore a whole new region and come up against the mighty 'Fury Bowser'.
It's probably a no-brainer for platforming fans, then... or is it? For many, this will be the first opportunity to see what Super Mario 3D World is all about, but Wii U owners might be torn over the idea of double-dipping to own the same game a second time. Maybe Mario just isn't your thing at all, or perhaps you've had it pre-ordered for weeks?
Whatever your plans, we hand it over to you. Are you buying Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury on Switch, and has your decision been affected by the Wii U original? Cast your votes below:
You can check out our full review of the game right here if you want to learn more about it before making your decision, or you can grab a physical copy here if you've already made up your mind.

I have no interest in playing 3D World again after owning it on Wii U and Bowser's Fury alone isn't worth retail price so I likely won't be grabbing it at all.
People are actually buying it for the 2nd time? That's crazy!
I can't be bothered to fire up the Wii U, man. It's easier to just burn 60$ on the eShop + I get bowsers fury. I see no reason to not buy it again
Already own it on the Wii U and played it many times so no.
Maybe if it's on sales for 25€ or less but sadly since that's a Switch game that won't happen so fast
@Sandro89 I am getting it to lay online with friends...and Bowser’s fury looks like it’s worth a look.
@Sandro89
Why not ?
The Switch version is NOT exactly same as Wii U version.
I will buy the Switch version too after owning the Wii U version.
@TurtleTurtle first world problems!
@Sandro89
Played it years ago, been long enough now the experience will seem fresh again. Plus Bowser's Fury.
Well worth a second dip.
I've owned it, sold it on and am buying again for multiplayer with the kid and Bowser's Fury. Unexpectedly received the steel book as well, so bonus 👍🏻
Awesome game, £39.99 at Argos plus nobody but Nintendo makes games this bright and happy!
Had I played it on the WiiU I would easily skip it, but since it's my first time I think this is the perfect time to try this game
Had it one Wii U and have bought it again. It is just a really fun game and much better than Super Mario Odyssey imo.
@rockodoodle yep.
Yeah I have it on Wii U... so no. Just like practically all the other Wii U ports, I already own them. Unfortunately that means my Switch doesn't get too much action. I've just started playing Mario Kart 8 again. Actually I still just recommend people buy a used Wii U instead of a Switch if they don't have either yet. Because for the price of a new Switch you can get a Wii U with all the Switch ports, plus many games that are yet to be ported. Recently I saw a Wii U with 13 games including MK8 and Super Mario 3D world, and 4 extra controllers for €150. And if you don't have either yet you're probably not thaaaat into needing the newest thing out there.
But also me and the people I know don't have the kind of money @TurtleTurtle has. So yeah, if money isn't a question I would probably recommend a Switch.
If they pushed Bowser's Fury as a digital only download for a quarter of the retail price I'd probably get that. Otherwise I'll wait till the game is heavily discounted (which likely means getting it second hand later down the line).
Buying it for bowsers fury.
Don't tell my wife but I still have the cellophane on the wii u version!
It's crazy that the highest votes go to owning it and yet buying it all over again.
That being said, I own 3 versions of Darksiders II, Donkey Country II and FFVII...
I can't answer as there isn't an option for Royal Mail lost my delivery. Been waiting for 25 minutes in their call line. FFS.
@Cheez
I have some double dipped games from Wii U such as Mario Kart 8, LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER (i triple dipped for Lego city, add the PS4 version as well)
Double dipper here. All the changes plus online plus Bowser's Fury make this a no brainer for me to double dip on.
I sold my Wii U and all its games a couple years ago. So I'm happy to re buy Mario 3D world for the Switch. Plus the whole local multiplayer / online with everyone having their own screen is great.
Galaxy 2 now the last 3D Home Console Mario not available on Switch? They’re running out of rereleases!
@Cheez I was joking lmao. I don't just have 60$ to burn like that. I'm just a prick, I'm not rich
I've never had a Wii U, so yes.
I've already downloaded it and I'm just waiting for my day to be over so I can dive into it
I've been out of luck for a review copy on the site I write for, so it's Wishlist until Christmas for me.
Bought it on Wii U (unfortunately waited for a sale so missed on that furry sleeve) but still bought it again. Wanted that steelbook.
Ironically I was starting to develop an itch to replay it but I would prefer playing it on Switch as the portability is a positive in my personal life. Also have some non Wii-U owning family member whom I want to online multiplayer with.
People confused as to why people are buying it a second time are forgetting the game is now not only portable, with additional content, and online multiplayer mid-pandemic... but also because Nintendo have made alterations due to feedback the first time around such as frame rate and gameplay speed to make it a more enjoyable experience. So it's not surprising me in the slightest people would buy it again on a different console.
@Sandro89
I mean, now that Kingdom Hearts is coming to PC, I will be buying that for the 4th time.
So people buying a game for the second time doesn’t surprise me.
@BenAV
Same for me. The original WiiU release is perfectly enjoyable, even without the extra content. I still play my WiiU to this day and Mario 3D World is still a favorite during family and friends meetings here.
The only game that I double dipped so far was Mario Kart 8, due to online play.
Another factor that prevents me to get it is the cost. Games are very expensive in my country, so buying the same game twice, even if it´s a better version, feels like wasting money.
I'll definitely buy it, definitely not on day one. No limited availability for this, after all.😛 As the penultimate Mario flagship to date, it's very far down the binge road for me. But it's terrific that I have access to it now.
I already own, and beat, the game on the Wii U, but, will happily get it again on the Switch. So far, every Wii U port to the Switch I owned the Wii U, beat there, and got again on the Switch and beat there too. Fun times all around.
The level that grinded my progress to a halt, was the one where you had to get past a train level. Then once you reach the front, there's a mini boss fight.
I died on that boss fight, and had to go ALL THE WAY back to the start.
I did it again and again, dying on each occasion, then rage quit after 3 deaths and never went back to it.
It wasn't "the difficulty".. for me, it was absolutely the lack of a checkpoint, and having to do the whole thing over and over again.
Wimp? Maybe.. Rubbish player? Definitely..
But at the end of the day, I hop into games for a fun experience, not for lengthy retreads through the exact same level "UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT.."
(Might've been World on WiiU, or may also have been Land on 3DS.. can't remember for certain..)
Unlike the Pikmin 3 port, at least they've made an effort and added some meaningful updates. Will be giving it a whirl over the weekend ^_^
Yup, its arriving at 3pm Irish time so, 3 more hours. Then two more hours of work lol
Had it on the WiiU, loved it. This version is pretty much the same but Mario is a little faster and I'm sure there are other tiny 'QoL' updates in there too. And Bowsers Fury. €60 is ok to me for the port, its a big game.
First Switch game I've bought since 3D Mario collection.
I dont really buy games for the Switch TBH.
The next game I buy will probably be the Zelda collection, if that really does happen.
Completed it on WiiU, it's a fantastic game, very underrated...but I've no inclination to buy it again. Not if Bowser's Fury is so short and according to NL's review, has handheld issues and is a bit repetitive.
I'd buy Bowser's Fury as a standalone digital download. But otherwise, I'll be waiting for a sale. I've got way to many new games waiting for me to start them.
@Jayenkai
Trains are 3D World material. They've been used for the Airship theme in Super Mario Maker 2, since the actual airships are from 3D Land.
I played it on the WiiU shortly after it came out, absolutely loved it, and have been meaning to play through it again for ages, but never came round to it. Considering how much I enjoyed the game the first time around, the addition of Bowser’s Fury, and how much of a hassle it would be to find my WiiU and the game in the loft and shuffle things around our entertainment unit to set it up, double-dipping was a no-brainer for me.
I would actually gladly buy Bowsers Fury Solo for £20. I got SM3D World for £20 in the selects Wii U range around 2016.
@HamatoYoshi I was quite pleased and surprised it was only £39 at Argos! I was expecting it to be £49 everywhere.
Am I buying it? My head says, "No," but my hearts says, "Yes." I'm not sure which will win.
Yes! Let's-a-go! HAHA
@TioRogerio I've only double dipped in Mario Kart and DK. And DK I got by trading in my Wii U copies of Mario Kart and DK, haha.
Just waiting on the postman. Any minute now according to Amazon.
As I've started doing with all of Nintendo's big releases (the ones that I care about anyway), already got a digital copy and have a physical copy coming in the mail. I want that digital convenience but don't want to miss out on cool box arts!
I'm holding out for crash bandicoot.
@sikthvash i would not use Pikmin 3 as an example of lame port, since it has DLC included, new prologue and epilogue, cooperative story mode (this is big, not for everyone, but big), easy and difficult mode and the piklopedia.
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze or Mario U are a better fit. Those are copy-paste with an easy mode added
I'd rather just spend 5 minutes hooking the Wii U up again if I want to go back to it. I expect it to go on sale the next time main series Pokémon games peak in fun & content again... in other words, the Switch eShop won't exist by that point.
My copy arrived an hour ago, I didn't have a WiiU, so this will be the first time I have played it
Put a pretty hefty chunk of time into 100%ing it the first time around, and I feel that time should really now be spent on my backlog rather than going through the motions a second time, but I’m still glad people will get to play this on Switch. It’s a really solid package.
Still not sure about this one, I definitely want to play it again, but I dont think 50 quid to have it on a portable when we can't even leave the house, is worth it.
No I was a proud Wii U owner and played it. Bowsers fury looks good but I wish they sold it stand-alone. 60 price tag is not okay for me. Look forward to seeing what happens with switch summer into Q3-4.
I never owned a Wii U (it came out at a not so great time in my life), so yes I'll be buying it for the first time, and I'm looking forward to playing Super Mario 3D World.
Not played Mario 3D world in ages and the dash feature plus better resolution and frame rate make it a great second dip.
Bowser's fury looks awesome, love the art style Nintendo have gone with for this.
Just got 4 copies. We’re all digital in my house so everyone just bought a copy from the eShop. Can’t wait to dive in after work today! Love this game on Wii U but never beat it so between the remaining levels I missed and the new content I have a lot to look forward too.
Nope, can’t pay full price just for bowsers fury. Rather spend the cash on something new
Double dipped. Loving it all over again.
Already completed up to World 4-3 (all stars and stamps). I'll probably complete the main game by Sunday night at this rate.
Bowser's Fury doesn't particularly interest me though, but I'll give that a proper look once I'm done with 3D World.
I used the currently available NSO free trial to see if I can find some people to play online with, but there was nobody joining me and no-one hosting either.
I boughted it, pre order, physical. I didn't have a Wii U. Arrives Saturday.
I have this on the Wii U, I never completed it but absolutely loved it and haven't touched it for years, one of my favourite Mario games ever. Tempted to pick it up but I'm in no mad rush. The amount of times in the game where I was wowed by a clever touch or a stage...not forgetting the music...and then thinking I'd beat it but I hadn't by a long shot. To those who haven't played it, you're in for a treat.
@Sandro89,
How could they buy Bowser's fury for a second time?, your comment makes no sense.
@WiltonRoots,
It's a great overall package.
I preordered it and both cat amiibo plus bowser jr. My kids wanted it badly plus our Wii U copy is scratched
why do sony trolls always prove me right? no body cares if you are not buying this great game. real nintendo fans will buy it . go back to push square and wait for June for Rachet and clank and have fun looking at your 500 dollar ps5 door stop. you have nothing to play. grow up and get a life. it is not my fault nintendo makes better games than sony. get over it.
@BenAV @BenAV sorry sony troll no body cares
@Sandro89 sorry sony troll. nobody cares.
@michellelynn0976 I haven't owned a Sony console since the PS2 but okay then.
@johnvboy Oh yeah. I don't think people who haven't played it realise how much game there is with 3D World, it takes a LOT longer to see the titles than Odyssey. I hope they don't let the people sulking in the comments sway their decision.
@Clyde_Radcliffe I know! They’re practically giving it away at that price.
I never owned a Wii U so never got to play it.It Looks like loads of fun so I'll buy it...but not sure when.
I’ll pick it up at some point
I had it on Wii U and it was one of my favorites on that platform, so getting it on the Switch is a no-brainer for me.
I undertand people who did have it passing though. But I do feel this is truly marketed towards the 66 million people who have a Switch and didn't have a Wii U. The Bowser's Fury is a nice addition to give previous owners some extra content, but so few people owned it on Wii U (since so few owned a Wii U) that them not getting it again likely won't make much of a difference on if the game is a success.
@Sandro89 Yes. I've bought every Mario game over again, from Super Mario Bros to World about 4-5 times. The only other games that are non-Mario I have bought that much was Batman Arkham and Final Fantasy VII/VIII/IX.
@michellelynn0976
You can't say "nobody cares if you are buying this game or not" when the article directly asks if people are going to buy it or not.
I just got it ahah
@Sandro89
Must be crazy me. Double dipping, day one.
@johnvboy He's clearly referring to Super Mario 3D World. Bowser's Fury may be new, but the base game isn't.
I was going to get it until Nintendo did this bullcrap with the pin sets in the US making it almost impossible to get one. Now I don't want to buy the game just out of principal. I got burned on Mario 3D World and the pin sets, so Nintendo is in the dog house for me.
@roy130390,
So you are confirming my point then, even people that have owned this on the Wii U will not be buying exactly the same game.
I can't at the moment, but definitely saving for a rainy day
Already have it on Wii U so no reason to double dip
@TurtleTurtle
So hard to switch HDMI input. Easier to spend $60. LOL
Definitely isn't worth $60 to people that already bought the wii u version. But I'll playing it for the first time so I'm interested in it.
It sucks that nintendo gets away with this though.
Now that all the friends I played the Wii U version with locally are spread out, the online option is pretty much why I'm double dipping. Bowser's Fury is a nice touch but I wouldn't say it's a must play addition.
yep i'm double dipping. i'm gonna get it for bowser's fury and online play. i can already tell this is the best wii u port they've made!
just waiting for amazon to drop it, meant to be coming at 7pm so i still got about 5 hours to go
@michellelynn0976 I thought you stuck to sound arguments and not name calling? Troll shouldn’t be used in your otherwise so eloquently written debating points.
@johnvboy You said that Sandro89 comment "made no sense", I'm explaining how it makes sense since it's indeed the same game as the Wii U version, but it added now Bowser's Fury. Even if that's new, it's still the same game. How am I confirming your comment? Please don't be one of those people that needs to have the reason and throws logic out of the window just for the sake of "winning"...
Just for the record, I'm not even arguing if it's worth it or not, I'm just explaining why his comment does make sense.
@michellelynn0976 ok nintendo fanboy/fangirl no body cares
I played it to 100% on my Wii U but I sold that all while ago. I've got a lovely shiny new Mario red Switch and the physical game to play today. Cannot wait!
I have been waiting for the re-release since I played 3D Land on 3DS and couldn’t play the Wii U version. Preordered! Picking it up between work.
As I have said many times, my kids love ODYSSEY, but SM3DW is their favorite Mario game. This coupled with my interest in BOWSER'S FURY made this purchase a no-brainer.
I never had a Wii U, but I've heard nothing but good things about 3D World, so I'm excited to have my copy arrive today!
Fantastic 3D Mario game. I strongly recommend it if you haven't played it back on the Wii U. It really is a AAA+ game.
....But personally I'm not double dipping on this one.
Unfortunately no, I still own it on Wii U and will likely just play it in CEMU because Bowser's Fury is not available standalone which is a damn shame, they could have made more money but Nintendo seems to hate money.
I'm probably one of the rare people that owned a Wii U yet did not get this game the first time, so you'd think it'd be an easy buy but I'm still 100% undecided for now.
A game like this seems to be built around the multiplayer experience at the expense of solo, and I would have nobody to play with, so idk; internet is crap where I currently live, you can't really go out anywhere to enjoy it at a café, and I have nobody I know local to play it with, so ... I'ma probably have to pass on this [again] in the end, ha.
Double dipping. Have had good experiences of double dipping on other WiiU games so I'm sure we will like this again (in my household)
I own it on wii u. Best 3d mario game IMO.
Still I will wait for a discount before buying, at some point I want to play Bowsers Fury.
Double-Dipping. Just enjoy playing on Switch a lot more than on the clunky WiiU and the Switch is our main console in the living room.
3D World is fantastic, one of my personal favorite games over the last few years so it’s an easy buy for me. Look forward to playing this again this weekend with my wife!
I had this on Wii U, but I’m definitely getting this again. The online play is what drew me in.
All I wanted was a port. Wii U was my first own home console. And this was the first game I got separately with it. When I was like 11, I thought it was on 3ds. I was so disappointed to learn that it was not portable. This fulfills a dream of mine. I will be getting it.
@Lalivero it’s definitely a game best played with friends, so I wouldn’t recommend getting it for a solo experience. I played through it solo and then played through 100% with a pal and, honestly, I’d struggle to recommend it in either capacity. Maybe it comes alive with four players but I found the game to be super repetitive and dull.
That’s coming from someone who adores every other 3D Mario title, mind. I was so excited for this back in the day and was majorly disappointed with it. Easily my least favourite 3D Mario title, including 3D Land which I thought was a blast and perfectly suited to the 3DS
Yes, double-dipping with no regrets! It's a great multiplayer and the kiddos and I are looking forward to revisiting it this weekend.
All time favorite game. Best co-op experience. Buying this so I no longer need to have my Wii U set up 🙂
@roy130390,
To be honest my initial comment at the guy was aimed more at his tone to the original question, as some will buy this again, and some won't.
He stated people were crazy to double dip on this, which is an uncalled for opinion in my eyes, I don't think others are crazy or wrong not to buy this game.
And also even though the original game is getting a port it's not the exact same performance and features. And as the Bowser's fury part can't be purchased on it's own, it has to be considered part of the overall release, and would have been a big draw to potential double dippers.
But it’s so snappy! It’s like a new game. Who knew that could change everything? At least I think so, anyway. The Wii U version would feel broken compared to this, especially toad, man his little cat self just flies off the stages
If Nintendo released a trophy/achievement system on Switch, this (along with other Wii U ports) would be a day one purchase for me. I often find myself losing interest in replaying older games halfway through, but getting trophies to add to the larger meta game off leveling up my nintendo account would totally get me excited to 100% it.
That being said, SM3DW is one of my favorite mario games so I would like to pick it up one day regardless, just when it makes more sense financially
Not my favorite genre so I’ll wait for a discount
Yep got it through the post today, played it, loved it again (already own WIIU version) and now waiting patiently for a new MK game hopefully towards Christmas this year or early 2022
Picked up my pre-order at the local games store just now, together with Sackboy on PS5. It's going to be a fun multiplayer platforming weekend !
owned on Wii U, now on Switch..... I am loving it! Online multiplayer is brilliant and already had several sessions with my friends!
Lets a gooooo
I would have it right now if Fnac hadn't shipped it via a private delivery company that requires you to be waiting at your door 20 hours a day.
Got it today, didn't own a Wii U, so first time playing it. Gonna be fun!
Getting it again.
It’s portable, it’s a fraction quicker, it’s got Online play and it’s got a decent cvs hum of extra content. Plus my Switch is more convenient for local multiplayer because of the selection of Controllers I’ve got. No-brainier really.
@LittleToyTitan
I’ve got it on PS4 Pro rather than PS5 but Sackboy is a really good game. Feels similar to 3D World in some ways.
I wasn't planning on double dipping on any of these WiiU Mario ports but my Mario obsessed son has other ideas. Personally I loved 3D World but playing with my young children over and over really burned me out on the game. Playing the same first levels over and over because they want cat suits without losing them right away. Dealing with tantrums because either someone wasted all the cat suits or else someone lost their cat suit right away. They're older now and they all really want to buy it but I am just not as interested. I kind of wish Bowser's Fury wasn't a thing because I think that is what they are most excited to experience but it will be harder to convince them that they don't need to buy a game we already own because of it. I'm sure it is only a matter of time before it is in my house though but to be fair these games get played a whole lot more on the Switch than they ever did on the WiiU.
@electrolite77 Yeah, it looks like a lot of fun. It was on flash sale and I just couldn't resist . Man, I miss the N64 / Gamecube days when we had couch multiplayer sessions almost every day. Developers have been taking almost everything online the last 2-3 generations, neglecting local multiplayer.
Having played it for a day now I can say Bowser’s Fury is fantastic!
Had it pre-ordered and been playing it all day, had it on Wii U and loved it and its been great getting to play one of the best Mario games out there again.
I'm playing it and it's ***** awesome!
@Cheez
A lot of people skipped the Wii U.
I skipped both the Wii and the Wii U. The Wii never interested me and while I was interested in the Wii U I knew the PS4 was coming and I had to choose. I chose the PS4 instead since I’m primarily a Playstation gamer at heart.
Now I have a Switch and a PS5. Best of both worlds. So I definitely bought 3D World.
@michellelynn0976 Insecure fanboy alert. Also you do realize the PS5 and Series X have a load of 3rd party games right? and have access to the entire PS4 and X1 library. I've yet to upgrade to PS5 as i'm waiting to end of the year but it has Valhalla still going strong, Hitman 3 what is doing well, P5 Strikers, a Mass Effect Collection coming soon, RE Village what looks incredible and loads more, sure the next big exclusive is while away but 3rd party games make up for that.
I'll have to check how much extra Bowser's Fury adds becaus ei have it on Wii U.
@LittleToyTitan
Those were the days.
Star Fox 64 and Goldeneye was my crew’s crack back in the gap.
@Rygar But do you love the single player experience?
Had It on Wii U and have since long ago sold my Wii U in lieu of Switch. I had this preordered but recently somehow my flame for Dark Souls was rekindled so have been playing DS1 and DS3 like a madman. I cancelled my preorder to purchase at a future date when I'm actually going to give it the time it deserves.Absolutely getting it though, I remember it being really great.
@michellelynn0976
Say wut ? 🤨
Sony troll ??
What even were you talking about ??
Btw, will you consider Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury ?
Looks like people are starved for something "new" to play.
I’m enjoying the speed improvement. Should of been like that from the start. Makes a great difference to Marios momentum
Its not that I don't want to buy it on day one, but I gotta work so I'll buy it later in the week.
Stores in Russia don't have it yet, possibly because it's been snowing non-stop for two days and the roads aren't practicable. At least the two stores near me don't have it.
Bought it and don't regret it. The game plays like a dream with the physics changes.
Pre ordered and it turned up today with a steel book as well never noticed that on the pre order 😊, never played it before and thoroughly enjoying it
I picked it up today. I sold the original a month or so ago to knock the price down a bit, along with a couple other duplicates I have picked up over the years. Loving it, its surprising how much faster it plays. Still one of my favorite Mario games.
@Oldiebutnoobie So did I. Had no idea it came with the extra case. Very nice one too
I beat bowser on the wii u but never tried to get most of the levels or gold coins so ill pick it up sometime. Fury looks cool
I suppose you mean "cats your votes". Sorry, I had to 😁
@TheRedComet Oh how I love Star Fox 64! Still the best game in the series. We played a lot of GoldenEye as well. Brilliant game. And Perfect Dark. And Mario Kart 64. And Diddy Kong Racing. And NBA Hangtime. And F-Zero X. And...
I loved the original, wasn't planning on double dipping but with Bowser's Fury and online multiplayer it's worth it. My best friend moved across the country and just got a switch and hasn't played the originally so we're going to go through it together
@PixelTavern it's cracking eh, I actually thought they had shipped me 2 copies 😂
@BlubberWhale Yes, I do. It’s definitely more fun with multiplayer, but it’s as fun as any other Mario game in single player, IMO. It’s similar to Mario Odyssey in the casual feel to it.
@WallyWest according to @michellelynn0976 third party support on other systems is irrelevant because they are littered with micro transactions. It all sounds like a Nintendo fan who used to say things such as Nintendo would never release paid dlc. They release only completed games. Nintendo doesn’t do ports like PlayStation... oh wait a second. Micro transactions will sadly make it to Nintendo. They are just late to every damn party including online, voice chat. I love Nintendo but I sure wish I didn’t have to play streaming version of hitman on my switch and or be able to play call of duty on the switch. And hot take but fifa is my most played non Nintendo game on the switch and they are made by the evil empire ea.
@BenAV Same, there should be a way to only play Bowser’s Fury for less money, since I already finished the game 100% on Wii U. No way I’m spending 120 dollars in total for the same game. Will wait for a friend to buy it
At the time of posting, 35% don't even own a Wii U, that's a lot for a poll on a Nintendo fan site. Just find this interesting after seeing posts across the internet saying stuff like "most people already own this on Wii U". lol
Anyway, this will be a double dip for me. I never got around to actually beating 3D World and Bowsers Fury looks nice. Full portable play this time around will help me actually play through it this time.
Oh I'm totally double-dipping, I don't give a damn. The base game alone is fantastic and it's been over a half decade since I've played it. $80 is nothing over that timeframe. Now I get to play it during my commute!
I made a vow to the gods long ago to buy every 3D Mario game, so I have no choice. I never had a Wii U so I can't wait to dive into this one after work. Bowser's Fury sounds amazing. Playing Blue Fire lately with its fun but somewhat finicky platforming has made me long for that Nintendo polish.
I hope it's good for single-player though - it looks like it was designed around multiplayer and I don't have anyone to play it with atm.
In conclusion: let's-a go! Wahoo!
I'd pick up Bowsers Fury separately for 20. I own 3D world. Still looks better on Wii U to me.
I can't even see their comments yet can see @michellelynn0976 is clearly embarrassing themselves again haha.
We owned the original on WiiU, but TBH I barely played it (my kids played it a lot though). I’m definitely double dipping, but I’ve gotten that dreaded email from Amazon that my preorder was delayed 😤. Hopefully it’ll show up tomorrow. Thankfully I have no shortage of half competed games on my Switch to tide me over.
@WallyWest Insecure fanboy alert? Do not project your nonsense onto me. The PS5 has nothing right now. Zero! OK? Also, 70 bucks for their first party games which are shorter than Zelda, Mario, FE, Pokemon and Xenoblade? No thanks.
@TheFullAndy Na. You trolls are.
@sixrings Nintendo does do paid DLC. Difference? Paid DLC isn't necessary to finish the game. Oh, 3rd party support does count. I never said it did. But, you can get most 3rd party games on other systems or PC. So I know the Sony ponies are attacking me to silence me. Go play your doorstop with no games.
@Anti-Matter they are littered on this site. Sadly.
@sixrings But it is OK for Full Andy to call me names and I was called the R-word by someone. Troll is just being honest. It is what they are.
@NikHogan You care Sony pony. You replied. Go back to playing your waste less doorstop with 70 dollar games.
@BenAV My apologies then.
Went to Asda to pick up a copy, nothing there at all not even a price marker. Not to worry I played it on the Wii U anyway, I will pick it up eventually, no rush.
I will get it again but not now. There are other games out or on the way that are brand new for me so I will focus on those. Will likely get this during Black Friday as that is usually when I double dip on wiiu ports. (All my wiiu games were bought day 1 so I don’t mind waiting for a sale). Very Happy Nintendo is going back to these gems though and I appreciate the new way to play.
I preordered it from Amazon for my friend's kid as a late birthday present..
I then tried to preorder it for myself and was told I already reached my limit. So I'll be picking it up tomorrow when I go to Walmart. Stupid Amazon...
@michellelynn0976
Um...
There are some good 3rd party games on PS5 such as Overcooked All You Can Eat, Planet Coaster, Spirit of the North, etc and they are under $70.
Not to mention the BC with PS4 games.
Also, Ratchet & Clank games took pretty long time to finish depend on your gaming style. Not to mention the optional quests and challenges to 100% the achievements.
I’m too far into my Wii U save file to start a new one and I’m not paying $80 for Bowser’s Fury so i’ll Probably borrow it at some point.
TIL a lot of people on this site own a Wii U. But I'm not surprised since this is a popular Nintendo fan site
@Anti-Matter @BenAV @TheFullAndy @WallyWest @sixrings @NikHogan michellelynn0976 and NGNYS are toxic fanboys/fangirls everyone should ignore on Nintendo Life. They love to throw shade on Sony and accuse everyone a PS fanboy.
@Linux7055
It wouldn't surprise me if those two wingnuts were one and the same.
In fact it would be comforting as the thought of two of them being out there is disconcerting!
I pre-ordered with Nintendo, I liked the deal they offered. Royal Mail attempted delivery but I was at work and forgot to tell them to put it in a safe place or re-reroute to somewhere else, hoping to pick it up from their office Saturday. I better do or I'll go off the boil for it.....
I picked it up, I never got a WiiU. The game is fine but i definitely am seeing how this is a 3D Mario game for people who don't prefer 3D Mario games. Maybe I just need to spend some time with it but right now it feels like a step back from Galaxy and its not filling the Odyssey 2 shaped hole in my heart 😔.
This game is amazing. Today 2-12-21 is my first time ever playing it and the fact I got the last copy by getting to the store 30 seconds before a 5 year old and his father has done nothing to diminish the pure joy this game has given me. I thought I had played every style of Mario but as this game keeps playing out I just can’t wipe the smile off my face. 10/10
Only downside of today is I went to game stop to buy the Mario cat amibo and I asked the girl working if they had any. She laughed and said ya right those never even made out of the back room. They only sent a few and we all got them sorry.
I own it on wiiu and have it hooked up to the tv. Ive double dipped on this and mario kart 8
@michellelynn0976 I HAVE NEVER OWNED NOR DO I OWN A PLAYSTATION CONSOLE LOL
ALL I PLAY IS NINTENDO
@Linux7055 Clearly, lol
tons of people on the Facebook group NVC are comparing this to Mario odyssey, I haven't played 3D world on WIIU basically skipped that GEN.
is this worth it ?
@LittleToyTitan
Well done getting on sale! I paid nearly full price for it.
I feel like local multiplayer has made a bit of a resurgence recently. Or if not a resurgence at least guaranteed it isn’t going to get completely phased out by Online which seemed possible at one point. Obviously Nintendo have been pushing local Multiplayer a lot, Overcooked and the Kart Racers have done well and having things like Rocket League, Borderlands and Minecraft playable split screen is a plus too.
Really enjoying Bowsers Fury here. Great fun.
@michellelynn0976 Has nothing? Demon Souls, Spider-Man MM, Spider-Man Remastered, AC Valhalla, Hitman 3, Watch Dogs Legion, COD Cold War, Immortal FR, P5 Strikers, Godfall, Sackboy, Cyberpunk, Destruction Derby and Astro Playroom. There's also the entire PS4 library minus 4 or 5 games with many getting updates to take advantage of the PS5.
I am considering it. Just one question.
It is NOT a limited time release like 3D-All Stars right?
Bought it for Wii U back in 2014 but also sold that console that same year. Loved 3D World though so there was no way I wasn't getting it day one on Switch.Thrilled to have it back in my game collection. I wouldn't say it's quite as good as Super Mario Galaxy 1, 2 or Odyssey, which are the pinnacle of 3D Mario games, imo, but it's still an awesome game and just a notch below those.
If you're getting this for the first time, you're in for a treat. Fantastic game, the last world is quite tough indeed with all the instances in the last cube level. The fact it has even more content than before is awesome. I remember being surprised when completing what I thought was the last world, then going on to complete what I thought MUST have been the last world, then getting like 4 more haha
@WallyWest Almost all you can get on PS4. We didn't give the Wii U this pass, so do not give the PS5 this chance.
@NikHogan Easy there. OK?
@michellelynn0976
I just want to know, what video game machines do you have ?
Because having multiple video game machines from different companies is a joy.
I have 14 different video games currently (GBA, NDS, 3DS, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U,
Switch for Nintendo machines), (PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP for PlayStation machines), (XBOX and XBOX 360 for XBOX machines)
@Anti-Matter if you can afford it. I do play Xbox and PS at my friend's place. I haven't liked a Sony console since the 2nd one. PS3 was saved by Japanese RPGs, PS4 had 2 awful years before 2015, and the last 2 years have been awful.
My favorite PS4 game is still Bloodborne. Better than the Souls games.
Double-dipping, baby. It's been a long time since the kiddo and I played this on the Wii U, so we're looking forward to a replay, plus the new content.
60 dollar Baby's first mario game no thanks
@Rygar Haha, good to know. I mean I bought it day one, there’s no way I wouldn’t, but glad to know it won’t be too lame by myself. I mean the graphics alone will be worth the trip for me, so some moderately interesting/challenging platforming will make it a fun experience. Haven’t tried it yet, trying to stick to my plan of finishing one or two other games first... almost there, can’t wait! (Plus if it’s even close to Odyssey levels of fun and creativity... I’ll buy 3 please!)
@HeyItsFlapjack would also be cool if we got another spin off... that’s my guess.
@gokev13 happened to me too. I swore I wouldn’t get Toad’s Treasure Tracker, but I some how had $40 burning a hole in my pocket. And then DK... love the character, but suck at the game. Had to get it for Chill Mode. Thankfully I haven’t gotten Pikmin yet and can keep some of my dignity.
@michellelynn0976 and? The Switch's biggest launch game was on Wii U and played better on it. Yeah right now Cross Gen is being pushed hard but nearly every PS4 game plays better on PS5. The "lack of games" is quite common for a new console and we also have Covid pushing back games, still of plenty of games coming though. Worth noting the Switch this year has a bare bones line up outside of BD2, MHR and PM Snap, i expect more to be announced but we have no idea if anything new is coming outside the handful announced already.
@rockodoodle
I haven't double dipped on Pikmin either but it's not a game my son was interested in so that is partially why. I did get DK Tropical Freeze but since I never had that on WiiU I felt it was worth getting. Surprised my kids with it and I thought we could have fun playing through it as a family, taking turns with multiplayer and so forth. For some reason it became the game my kids absolutely refused to play with me. My son who loves 2d Mario games and animals could not care less about the game. He tried the first level by himself and decided it was to hard and has refused to play it with me ever since. He also insisted it wasn't two player co-op when I told him it was and didn't even care there was a Funky mode that made it easier. I guess I don't get it because if my Dad ever showed up with a brand new video game and was eager to play it with me when I was a kid it probably would have been one of the best surprises of my life. My Dad is a good man but he just did not care for video games at all. Sorry, guess I kind of went on a tangent with that one. Kids are fun.
@gokev13 funny. I introduced Nintendo to my step son. He liked it for a while. Still does to a very limited extent. But now has moved on to the big kids' games. I guess I am ok with rebuying the ones I have. I got a few extra chapters with Toad. 50 hours on MK8. I think online and Bowser's Fury makes this worthwhile.
@rockodoodle Oh I know I will be getting 3d world soon enough. My son was expecting it first day but I told him either to use the money he's been saving up or wait until I have a good opportunity to buy it. He chose to wait but I don't think he is to happy with it.
@WallyWest So? BOTW could not be played portably, and it wasn't 10 bucks more expensive. Dang, the PS5 apologists making excuses for how bad the lineup is right now.
After 4 months, the PS5 has nothing. After 4 months the Switch did have Arms, Solatoon2, MK8DX and BOTW.
@michellelynn0976 Has nothing? Are you just ignoring all the 3rd party games? Take away the 3rd party games and the Switch library suddenly isn't that big. Either way you cut it BOTW was on Wii U and providing you played it at home like most would you could play it portable on Wii U. God you are reaching so hard, must be sad only playing on one console haha
@WallyWest I play more than one. Grow up and get a life. Also, so? Sony doesn't get a free pass. Xbox didn't get one, Nintendo didn't get one, and your God Sony doesn't get one.
@michellelynn0976 You ok? Seem a tad insecure and have anger issues.
@WallyWest I am OK Push Square no life troll. Pot meet kettle. You making ignorant assumptions. Also, if what you want to do is upset people. That proves how much of a life you need.
@michellelynn0976 I've been pretty respectful you're the one throwing a tantrum and name calling like a little kid.
@WallyWest Wow. Your victim card got denied. No, you started on me. If you don't like it, go back to Push Square on the Incel sites you belong to. Your previous God, Sony isn't that good TBH.
@michellelynn0976 Still with insults mate, can't claim a high ground when you're the one on attack.
@WallyWest You started it. I am only fighting back. Too bad.
@michellelynn0976 Hey you're the one being a fanboy over Nintendo like children do over their console of choice, i just called you out that's all. You can't even argue my points and instead just throw insults because that's all you can do
@WallyWest Grow up Pony. You are butthurt because someone won't kiss your God's behind Sony. No, you are doing mental gymnastics lying and trying to justify your childish behavior.
