I was completely against the idea of this, and now I really want it. I need to let the hype die to know if I truly am interested. The game selection is very good if maybe four too few. If the build quality really is there, then I'll be impressed (not by a CG demo with nothing but text telling us off the quality), but £200 really is pushing it!

Nintendo are doing well enough now surely they can lower the price of Switch cartridges for publishers so they can afford bigger ones so that day ones patches aren’t 16GB. Downloads on Switch are so much slower compared with my iPad or Mac. Cheaper cartridges mean we might not have to download the other half of the game, or could even get two games on one cart, or two carts with both games (FFX/X-2, etc.)

I do hope we get a send off for Reggie with Nintendo Direct or not.

I was about to be outraged because they weren't available in the UK but only for iPhone 6, 7 or 8 phones? Ugh.

Maybe now they point at Super Mario Bros. when they tell the story of the worst video game movie adaption ever made.

This looks really nice. Sadly the connection to Doraemon means its unlikely to come out over here. Hope we get a Story of Seasons game on Switch though.

I'm glad we're getting all three games this time. I wish Nintendo would release the obscure Japanese only games on our NES online app.

I think it's super weird that people are blaming the game or the character, not the player. And the way he then went and knocked the guy off the stage after he'd walked off in protest of the way his opponent was playing is also tasty.

That play style should be banned. That player should be banned. It's not the game's fault or the characters fault.

I'm so conflicted. The art is very good. But I don't know if I like it in the context of a Streets of Rage game. But that's mostly because I'm very adverse to change.

The sound effects and music all sounds lifted from the old games.

The game play looks like you'd expect the game to play. It's how it feels which will make or break this game so can't really comment on that either.

I’m pretty sure I saw something that looked very Breath of the Wild. Did anyone else spot it?

I’d like a 1080p screen but the same size (which I doubt would happen) and 4K docked gaming which sounds plausible. If the Switch insides upgraded ram and processors would that cause an issue for current games? I’m guessing not. But it’s going down the PS4 pro route where we’ll get games with Pro only features. I’m not fussed because I would honestly upgrade. I’d be happy with the lite model for taking out of the house though. I don’t need detachable joy con or hd rumble when i’m Travelling because sometimes that thing goes nuts and just feels weird. Really loud, long unnecessary buzzes.

I'm currently on the final part of Zelda II but this would have been a great way to get me to play it had I not already got to the end.

Ugh... I’m so old. I cannot at this death of physical media coming quicker than I’d like. Can’t they wait until I’m dead? And I mean in 60 years, not tomorrow when I get hit by a bus.

I do not want download only. Download only does not bring me joy, as Marie Kondo would say.

I do not want buy two games but only get one on the cartridge.

I do not want to buy half a game on a cartridge because the developer couldn’t afford the larger capacity.

I know PSP GO failed well over six or seven years ago and it’s a different time now and I think this would do really well actually. But I want traditional physical media. And I know we have to compromise on that because physical media is expensive compared to digital distribution and I should be happy we still have physical media at all but I’m not. I’M NOT HAPPY. Can’t it just be 2001/2 again and can we just be in the GameCube / Game Boy Advance era instead. Back to the good old days.

We better get some sort of Virtual Boy stuff through this or I will go insane.

I don't think I've actually played one NES game on this service, except the special S versions they're releasing. I can sort of see why Nintendo have chosen to make Virtual Console go down this route because I don't think I actually would buy these games again for the 100th time.

I wish Nintendo would release some obscure games over here, like they occasionally would on the Virtual Console.

In the question about what factors make me buy physical over digital, there should be an answer about future proofing because eventually Nintendo will switch off Switch servers and you won’t be able to download any games. Unless you have them ALL on a memory card you might lose their games you paid for.

I tried the demo and thought the controls were hideous. The motion controls don't look that much better thb.

Not one mention of Endless Ocean? I loved those games. I think this looks great too.

I sort of see Breath of the Wild at the end of the timeline. So no matter what games come next, Breath of the Wild is always the last one.

Or, maybe even something that connect the timeline back to the very beginning - Skyward Sword?

Was there a case against one guy that distributed Super Mario Galaxy (or at least downloaded and potentially shared it) in Australia and Nintendo were awarded a lot of money when they took him to court but they settled with him meaning he didn't have to pay the ridiculous sum he would never be able to pay?

Wow, OK. If I can relive the halcyon days of me playing Road Rash on the 3D0 way past my bed time while listening to Cathy Dennis on my headphones I will be very very happy. Might give this a try.

I love that they have no comment. Surely they'd be saying something more a long the lines of how they love the creativity of their fans, etc, etc, but no. Just no comment. This makes me quite suspicious that something very similar might be on the horizon.

I really don't like the art style they've gone for. It just doesn't look like a Streets of Rage game. Why couldn't they have gone for hyper detailed pixeli style similar to the previous games, just bigger sprites, smaller pixels but still noticeable.

And they really need to come through with the music.

Sure the gameplay matters but if it doesn't look and sound like a Streets of Rage game I'm worried it'll just be a beat em up with a famous name tagged on to it.

I don't know whether to get this game or not. I'm really torn. Both this and that Lifeless Planet game look like my sort of game but I just dunno....

I had downloaded this on the iPad but never started it and I'm glad I didn't!

@BigKing So how about games that were once in development for a previous console then that moved to the next console. Was Starfox Adventures really a N64 game since that was ported to Gamecube? How about Eternal Darkness?

How about Kameo? That was originally a Gamecube game released on the Xbox. But is still a Gamecube game then?

Metroid Prime 3 too.

They may not have come out on those consoles but that's where they started development and so were ported across.

Breath of the Wild started as a Wii U game but Switch became the primary platform for it later in development.

BOTW came out at the same time on Wii U and Switch. There's almost 20 years difference between the original release and the Shenmue remasters. Are you really using that as a comparison?

Wasn't it mentioned in some dev interview that cloud saves are a box they need to tick when submitting the game to Nintendo and if they want to retroactively support it they'll need to submit an update?

@BigKing Well it is those things.

They removed what made it a "Wii U game" so how people aren't counting the Switch version as the proper version is beyond me.

Breath of the Wild may have been ported from the Wii U but the game was improved vastly on a technical level when development moved to Switch. You only have to look at the complete removal of the Wii U game pad functionality and superior Switch graphics. it CHUGS on Wii U.

Therefore, while it was absolutely originally a Wii U game. It is a Switch game now with the Wii U version only existing to avoid angering the userbase.

Sorry, it's a Switch game. I don't care what it was originally developed on.

I'm not sure I like the art direction. I feel it really needs some tech noir dystopian atmosphere and so far those hand drawn graphics are not giving me that.

On paper this really is my sort of game but that trailer doesn't wow me. This is the sort of game that really needs to wow me graphically.

Excellent news! Third parties really are delivering on Switch. I've never played so many 3rd party games.

That outfit doesn't really work for me. Ganondorf is much better. I'm excited to play this.

Diablo 1 and 2 were among my favourite PC games back in the day. I've not got a PC or PS4 or XBO so I'd actually look forward to the opportunity to play the game.

I'd play this on iOS but it's not available on the UK app store.
