"I hate it here" - a fan that just wants some video game news
It's like getting some rolls while you wait for the main course. I doesn't completely solve your hungry but it helps.
A Direct!
But it’s about a theme park despite us being in the middle of a worldwide pandemic!
It truly is nice to not have to wait so long in between announcements this month after such a legendary hiatus of info for what feels like over a year.
Cool. Who go till olimpic games, will be able visit it.
Calling it now, the end of the Direct..."Super Nintendo World will be open until March 31st 2021!"
...lol
They can't fool me! Obviously, Fighter Pass 9, Botw 2, Prime 4 and a new F-Zero, Rhythm Heaven, and Golden Sun will be featured in a surprise ending. My very irresponsible hype train has left the station! Next stop, soul-crushing disappointment station! WOOT WOOT.
If I still lived in Japan and there wasn't a global on-going pandemic right now, I'd be a lot more excited for this. lol
Why must people always complain about what they want out of a Direct honesty
I'll tune in.
@Joeynator3000 I believe they are planning to open it in march. I read or saw that somewhere. I wouldn't be shocked if it's pushed back later though.
Or maybe I'm thinking about the mario cafe.
Man f*$# Metroid Prime 4, we've got a theme park to go to!
SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™ Universal Studios Japan Confirmed for Smash.
Oh wow. Sadly I’m most likely not going there as we’re in a pandemic. It also doesn’t help that it’s in Japan for the time being.
Do you think it will be better or worse than that one Direct with Miyamoto and Iwata walking around The Louvre?
Ok It might be worth watching I might take a look at it, but where in a middle of a pandemic and its only in japan so I'm meh but Happy bc its nintendo world.
This would make more sense for Nintendo Japan, wouldn’t it? I know they have to promote, but I just don’t see much excitement at the time being because of COVID and it being in Japan.
I'm actually stoked for this, just please bring a Nintendo park in the US!
I know it says no game content, but Universal and Nintendo have been hyping the connectiveness between SNW and Nintendo's consoles for some time. I don't think it's coincidence that the SM3DW port is coming out the same time as this is opening at USJ when both have a ride/mode where Bowser is heavily prominent.
@nessisonett
To be fair, optimistically the one in Hollywood won't be open until after the vaccine is very widely distributed (winter 2021/ summer 2022).
Who knows when Florida will be open.
Plus Japan's doing pretty good last I heard when it comes to controlling COVID and they've had their theme parks open for months.
Man I honestly can't remember the last time we had a general direct. At this point, the next direct could be a nintendo lunch box direct!! Featuring every nook and cranny of a lunch box and how many snacks you can pack in it!
@Aslanmagic
They'll probably announce the speculative opening date for it at Universal Studios Hollywood with concept art and maybe the new plans for SNW at Orlando if it is really being moved inside the main studios park.
@DAHstroy I believe I saw something before the pandemic that there will be a Nintendo park in Universal Studios Florida 2023-2024, but im guessing 2025-2026 now cause of the pandemic.
@Joeynator3000 more like it'll open AND close on March 31st 2021
Yesh, hype responibonsibleeeeee. I shtop at thirtysebben hypes.
No need for gameplay.... they are announcing the ports of the remaining WiiU catalog....
@Toy_Link yeah that would make a lot of sense
My body is more than ready.
I'm glad we're getting this presentation, but it shouldn't be called a Direct if it's not going to have any game news. The "Direct" branding invites expectations that don't seem to be warranted by this presentation.
Damn,
I thought it was the Super Switch release Direct.
Not sure why a commercial for a theme park needs to be live streamed w/ 24 hours notice, not like there are going to be spoilers.
Didn't Nintendo shadow drop a Mini Direct not too long ago?
Why is NoA even promoting it? Are Americans even allowed into Japan?
This seems like something ready made for one of those Japanese Pokemon tv shows. 🤷
And people thought the Wii U years were barren...
@RainbowGazelle Well, during those times the 3DS pick up the slack.
Funny how Nintendo makes a direct on a theme park, during a global pandemic.
Also, Nintendo might as well rickroll us by this point if they're gonna keep direct baiting us.
Wonder if there is a real Baby Park like Mario Kart 8 version.
I hope Universal is moving away from the screens. As somebody who went to Universal for the first time, five years ago, since the early 90’s, I was disappointed.
Hopefully it isn’t just Mario themed stuff
@Anti-Matter
Here's a list of rumored Mario Kart locations represented in Mario kart: Koopa's Challenge
Bowser's Castle (Entrance and queue, Dungeon, and start line)
Some type of Canyon course (Bone Dry Dunes? Cheese Land?)
Piranha Plant Pipeline
Dolphin Shoals
Twisted Mansion
Grumble Volcano
Cloudtop Cruise
Rainbow Road
Sorry no Baby Park.
@Rifuzilla
It will initially (other than possible Pikmin references?).
Likely if SNW is successful in Florida they'll have multiple areas in different parks similar to Harry Potter (Wizarding World, Diagon Alley, and if Epic Universe still happens Fantastic Beasts).
Zelda was rumored to replace Lost Continent and Pokémon Kidz Zone, but that was before COVID made everything messy.
@Toy_Link
I wonder which version of Rainbow Road over there.
Also, i'm curious about other places like restaurant / cafe, gift shops, toilet, parking area, lost and found station, etc over there.
@nessisonett It's as if no one is obligated to go to Japan (and no one can anyway), the park is opening in next year with some limitations as most public spaces are normal in JP and they want to market the park outside of JP for people to know that it exists when they can come to the country, which probably won't be that soon, but the mindshare needs to exist.
I'd really prefer news about something that I could actually use like Bayonetta 3 or BOTW 2.
interesting....ill prob check it out once I visit japan. That is if I have enough money ;-;
Very tone deaf, a Direct about a theme park during a pandemic meanwhile game announcements (something that is much more suitable) are nowhere to be seen.
Well, it's something? Let's hope they can actually make money off of it in the COVID-era.
@Grumblevolcano
They were never going to announce new major games releasing months from now a week before Christmas.
Plus I wouldn't be surprised if this was set up contractually back in the Iwata era when there were much more directs per year.
I'll be peeved If Universal Studios isn't announced as the next DLC fighter.
Count me out. lol
No games? I don’t care.
Wake me when it's over.
I'm watching this. I'm a tad disappointed folk aren't curious what Nintendo's take on a theme park looks like and single mindedly upset it's not about video games. Especially on a Nintendo site. This could be totally feel good
I have a feeling that there are gonna be some brand new memes created here ...
1. It's in Japan.
2. There is a pandemic.
3. I'm not in Japan.
So yeah, this is the first Nintendo Direct I will skip.
This Direct will torture the crap out of me. I don't have the money to go to Japan. Let alone, Super Nintendo World.
Not interested, I'll save 15 mins of my life.
Yeah probably not gonna watch this. I want information on games for my game system, not information on a theme park I can't go to anyway.
Oh FFS. Just whatever at this point.
Seems rather ill timed given the circumstances, why not wait until world has gone back to close to normal. Last thing I want to think about right now is how I can’t go to a place like this! Also it’s been such a bad year for Nintendo first party games why call this a direct? Just rubbing salt into the wounds?
Wow still no games
@AnnoyingFrenzy Nope.
The big problem is most people won't even be able to go when it opens because international travel is still screwed.
It's just going to be showing us something that is out of most of our reaches.
Damn, why did they have to call it that.. Got my hopes up when I initially saw the logo!
Cool, looking forward to this after work
And then at the end of the direct, they announce a surprise Nintendo Land port/remaster/sequel.
I'll go back to Japan and see it after a year or two of it opening so all the kinks are worked out and its operating on all cylinders. That is...if the world is still around in 2 years...
I plan on going there November 2021 for my wife's 40th, hopefully the world will be back to semi-normal again!!
I saw the photos of this the other day and it looks so tightly packed in which is not great, currently. Still, I'm excited to see what this place looks like in a close up perspective.
@N8tiveT3ch Exactly. This is worse.
I prefer to tease the sequel of Super Mario Odyssey rather than to show a new theme park in the middle of coronavirus.
I'd be struggling to hype at all - my odds of visiting Japan anytime soon are ultraslim regardless of epidemiology.😅 And if I got there, my nerd pilgrimage would probably start with Akihabara or Tokyo Disneyland, not with a Mario environment.
@nessisonett Hey, people are watching GoPro videos online to vicariously experience roller coaster rides, so this is a way of making the world after the pandemic a lot more exciting. It's like watching a commercial for food and then running to the restaurant the next day: that anticipation and craving makes finally going there all the more satisfying.
Oh yeah, this is what we all have been waiting for! Amazing! I am so happy! What a beautiful time to be alive!! I own my Swich just for this so that I can see how their park looks like. No games needed, just this!!!
Can't wait for the freemelee spam in the livechat during the direct... #smh
I’m good on the life sized model of super Mario 3D world tbh.
@Toy_Link Thanks for the information
Why even call it a direct lol
Super interesting but doubt I'll ever go there tbh. Sad but true.
Nintendo we don't need a Nintendo Direct for your theme park(we are in the middle of a global pandemic), we need a Nintendo Direct that give information about your 2021 games for Switch or others games such as Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 and Bayonetta 3 not this.
Wonder if they'll launch a game to promote it called Super Nintendo World, effectively a Switch follow-up to Nintendo Land. Appreciate that makes sense from a business perspective, so probably unlikely to happen because, y'know, Nintendo.
@Kyloctopus It might be close, but Nothing beats Iwata & miyamoto in the Louvre
There are a few videos w/Iwata and Miyamoto presenting that 3DS-Louvre interactive tour guide. At least it was some idea beyond audio loops — but wow, those videos...They were,mmm interesting?
FYI To anyone missing out on traveling, museums, or this mario park: there is an E-shop version that works offsite (at home) with 3D images from the Louvre and a voiced tour! The Louvre from the comfort of a tiny screen in a hospital bed- What more could anyone want?
Oh good point @BlackenedHalo
~Sad Yoshi sounds!
Super Mario World Switch Remake....
I'll show myself out
"no game content will be featured", definitely means they'll announce Switch 2, with launch games Planet Pilotwings, Goldeneye 007 remastered, Yoshi's Peninsula, Mario Kart Ultra and Super Mario RPG 2.
Meh, im not going to Japan any time soon. I would be more interested in hearing when Aaron Towers is due to reopen as I've missed visiting this year.
"'[N]o game content will be featured' so be sure to hype responsibly."
I dunno. As a theme park and Nintendo fan, I'm sufficiently hyped!
@nessisonett Even when the pandemic is over I still won't be able to go which is sad because as a young kid one of my top dreams was a Nintendo themed theme park and now it's happened and I'll probably never be able to go until I'm an adult
I just want some artwork for the Chef Toad so I can remake it in Mario Kart Tour
@HotGoomba___Rebrand tbh MP4 is still hiring more devs so I feel it's still a way off
OMG!! They are going to announce Cyberpunk 2077 for switch, released just in time for Christmas!! I'm so excited!!!
Does anyone remember when Nintendo made video games? It seems like for years they've been overwhelmingly obsessed with this theme park and now that we haven't had any new directs with new game information or release windows for known games for a year, they finally have a direct....to talk more about a theme park on the other side of the world virtually none of us will ever see, and don't care much about beyond curiosity, while in the middle of a pandemic so that nobody locally can really see it either.
I'm getting the feeling they somehow got government money for tourism services involving this park and the Olympics and are trying to salvage everything they can from it.
Switch was my favorite console of all time, but the tremendous inattention to it this past year has really shifted my attention and enthusiasm elsewhere.
@Eddyson Entitled adultoddlers gotta pout, it’s so annoying.
@JSDude1 hear hear
Even as a Nintendo fan, and as cool as this kind of a theme park is for me personally, I don't exactly get this. Its basically targeted only at Japan, especially now. I really don't see much reason why they would put so much effort into promoting something that a vast majority of their fans just cannot go to, but especially now with the pandemic situation. So a Japanese direct about this? Sure, I could see that. But a translated, world-wide Direct just because its Nintendo related that most of their fans simply cannot have anything to do with? I'm not sure I can see why they would put the money and effort into that. It just seems like a waste to me. I can understand a company promoting a product, but the target audience at this time is just not really a world wide audience.
For anyone who's worried about the size, it should have around the same walkable area as Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando.
Especially helped by the retail space that is on the subterranean level (such as the Toad House restaurant and the POW/Question Block factory themed shop).
@AndyWK
Excited to play garbage?
"bUT Wut aBOut mUh ViDyA gaMEz???" as if Nintendo didn't just host an Indie World, drop a new Bravely Default 2 Demo, and drop a new Smash Bros character over the last 4 days...
You'll get your Breath of the Wild 2, Bayonetta 3, and Prime 4 gameplay reveal when they are ready to be shown.
... Before we go, there's just one more thing -
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I swear, If Freaking Toad's Factory isn't playing in the gift shop, i'm not going in orlando.
I think an arcade with Nintendo games could be there. MKAGPDX got an update so that could be one.
"Check out this theme park you'll never be allowed to go to!"
Bruh best reply I've seen
allright... lets a go!
I wonder if we will see something from the DKC-roller coaster.
Whoa! BOTW 3 CONFIRMED!
Bring out the Hype Cybertruck bois
@Highlar They are currently in construction for a version at the Hollywood theme park. The Orlando version has been delayed due to COVID scrapping the Epic Universe park for the time being. Supposedly the plan there is to build it somewhere in the current park now. There's video online of how far along they are in Hollywood. Still a good ways off and the rumor was its supposed to open in 2021 but I'm sure COVID is a fly in the ointment, a monkey and a wrench, a pain in the @ss for that plan I'm fortunate to live here in Southern California so you can bet vital parts of my anatomy I'll be at Universal Hollywood when it opens I'll be that almost 40 year old running around it like a kid.
@NEStalgia Yeah, they did nothing with Switch. They just launched almost 10 games this year, including AC New Horizons, Clubhouse Games, Paper Mario Origami King, Mario Kart Live, Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity and so on. It's clear that the pandemic impacted their development and you clearly forget that Nintendo always have developed games on their own pacing, which is why they retain their employees. It's not black and white like you think it is.
And since when we don't know dates and new games for a year? Most of the games I mentioned literally were announced and released this year, in and outside of directs. You're just ignoring to make an argument where games are only valid if they come in a direct format, which is absurd.
Plus, this park being marketed is literally because most people don't know it exists. Universal is the one financing it for most part, with Miyamoto being on there supervising much like with the Mario movie. This direct is no different than a video, which it literally is, a video, showing the park and bringing awareness of its existence for people who in the future will go to japan.
