One game that you may have overlooked towards the end of last year was Ubisoft's open-world title Immortals Fenyx Rising. It's been compared to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild time and time again but falls somewhat short. Still, it's worth a look if you are craving a similar experience.
If you're not entirely ready to take the plunge though, you might want to hold out - as the game appears to be getting a demo soon. A Twitter bot that scans the PlayStation Store has identified a demo for the game - which seems to be based on the Google Stadia trial from a while back.
Whether or not a demo like this will actually come to the Switch or not is another question altogether, but apart from the graphics, there are no major differences between each version of the game. Would you try out a demo for this game if it was released on the Nintendo Switch? Leave a comment down below.

A demo would definitely help me out, I've been on the fence for this.
I was thinking about getting it at some point this demo should help patch things.
I literally just bought this about two hours ago. Its downloading. Am HYPED.
I already bought it on the sale. Not a fan of Ubisoft open world games, they seem interesting and I always end up buying them at sales and not playing them. This one seems to not take itself so seriously, so I though to give it a try.
I bought last week at walmart for $40. Its been a great experience so far, especially if you enjoy exploring every nook and cranny in games.
I put nearly 60hours in it before beating the game, had a lot of fun with this game and I’m even thinking about buying the seasons pass.
I did try on Stadia. Was not impressed with the control scheme and tried several options, but with having so many buttons do two things there was no pleasing alternative. I am tired of games trying to force a SOULS-like control scheme. That being said, I still had some fun and will snag this at $25.
I already played 5.5 hours of Immortals. I'm hoping the demo will help me decide if I like the game.
Amazon US still has Immortals physical for $29.99
Walmart $39.99
Not trying to sound pro-GameStop but I used to manage a store 5yrs ago. I left after just 10mths from poor pay, poor staff (unreliable younger part-timers), etc. Haha. Anyway for future reference if you’re ever wanting a game and scoping out all the retailers & Amazon prices that you mentioned, GameStop does price changes every Wednesday morning so that’s the day to check them out if you’re looking for a price drop on X game. Excluding holiday sale events of course. Just a friendly heads up. 😎 @WoomyNNYes
Take it from someone who is into role playing genre, this game is "LIT". Just buy it if you're into this sort of games.
@Rpg-lover
is it like darksiders?
I’d give it a try. I was gonna get it at some point anyway though
No, because I already own this on Switch and Xbox. I had this game preordered for near a year now. While I was skeptical with lack of information before it finally got released, I am happy to say that it is a true pleasure to play on Switch. The graphics take a hit when compared to everything else, but the gameplay is king. It's best feature is cross save, which is why I got the pretty version on XSX.. play on Xbox at home, then handheld on Switch when away.
I love how the game uses cosmetics and perks. One accessibility feature
the game does is scaling your inventory menu from handheld to docked mode. It makes your icons larger in handheld.
The more I play it, the less I compare it to BotW. It's in the same ballpark as BotW, just different field. If you like ARPGs or action/adventure games.. try the demo.
@PALversusNTSC no, not like Darksiders. More like BOTW. However, the more you play the less it looks like BOTW.
@PALversusNTSC
The combat, when you get upgrades can feel like Darksiders 2. I would say AC Odyssey combat is closer. I like the combat more in Immortals than Odyssey.
Yeah i need a demo first.
I want to say that I am a huge fan of this game. I recommend many people to play it. Any questions, I'm more than happy to answer.
@Rpg-lover
The two games are similar but the comparisons are a bit overblown. They both have open worlds, puzzles areas (which Immortals is better honestly), and gliding from high places to transport.
But, there are a lot of differences that separate them and make them both special.
@WhiteTrashGuy $25 would be a good price for this for me to bite too. Played the Stadia demo and the biggest turn-off for me was the "comedy". Just didn't like it. But I'm sure plenty love that side of it.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this game. My only critisms:
-ubisoft created a huge game but it is full of grinding, repetitive challenges and pointless rewards. Instead of new gear there is an awful lot of same item but different colour (each item has 4 visual varieties) which feels cheap and annoying. Nothing worse for a completionist than these pointless items that offer no new attributes- very disappointing but classic Ubisoft.
Really enjoy this game even pre ordered the dlc. Finally a Ubisoft game that isn’t boring after 10 min.
This totally filling the gap till Zelda BotW 2 . It’s a easier version to chill out too. The Greek gods make it a very interesting game with little myths all over the game very well done and ITS A FULL GAME hardly any bugs which is so refreshing these days. Kids love it too . Can’t recommend this enough.
Too late already bought it on sale and i am having a blast with the game, well done ubisoft
It’s a chewing gum game. Enjoyable in the first hour, not so much after 10, and continues to lose it’s taste the longer you go. Perfectly acceptable, but not a revelation like BOTW.
I've got the physical copy in my backlog waiting to be started as soon as I finish the xenoblade extra story.
This is an amazing game. Best game of 2020 IMHO. I bought it on Stadia for the nice visuals and smooth 60 fps gameplay. Just plays superb on the platform.
The Demo on Stadia is still available until end of January 2021 for anyone who wants to test the game now :

It's free to try out. You only need a Google account and you are good to go. I know it is not exactly how it plays on Switch, but still a good way to test the game itself. You can just connect your current PS4, Xbox or Switch Pro controller to PC, phone or tablet to play on Stadia, or just use Mouse and Keyboard on PC.
The demo is only running in 30fps on Stadia. Not like the full game were 60fps is an option. But the 30fps is closer to how it also feels like on Switch. The visuals are much better on Stadia, though, but I think it looks nice on Switch as well.
I am not planning to get it yet but if there is a demo for it and I find it interesting, of course I will buy it.
It's a great game, hope they do another!
Its a great game, feels like an Assassins Creed lite and I'm having loads of fun. My only gripe is that the visuals are really blurry and it's difficult to make out details in the distance which really limits the excitement of exploration - it probably didn't help that I played this on the back of AC Valhalla so the visual downgrade was quite apparent, but its definitely worth playing.
I'm definitely interested in a demo.
It's a pretty solid title. 30fps which is pretty much stable now since the patches. I have only got the last boss to beat and will probably buy the DLC when finished. Would recommend anyone who gets the game to buy the climbing upgrade as soon as you can. Only crashes I have had is certain items would missing so couldn't complete a puzzle. This is a problem on all versions. Once you restart the game the item reappears.
You say that it "looks like its getting a demo" as if it doesn't already have one. Whilst the demo does have the drawback of being on Stadia only, it does give you some exclusive unlocks in the full game, regardless of the console you play on (although they're cosmetic only).
I’m down to try this even though I know I’m going to buy it
Very good. Will definately try it.
No need for a Demo. This game is really good. And a surprisingly great Switch port
I think that Demo will be exactly enough time I want to spend with this game. I am giving it a chance, but I don't like idea of the Zelda BOTW clone that is ripped off the huge mystery and emotion layer.
Been playing it on my Xbox and it's been really fun but Ubisoft really dropped the ball by making the early demo of this game as a Stadia exclusive instead of releasing it on all platforms from the beginning to gauge interest.
@Kulhy
That is such a annoying and arrogant Nintendo/Zelda fanboy comment. Give Immortals a fair chance.
The game borrows a lot of the great elements from BOTW . But it also has a lot of it own unique style and gameplay elements that does not make it a strait clone of BOTW.
BOTW also borrowed a lot of elements from other games, like Assassin's Creed. Now Ubisoft is mixing equal elements from Assassin's Creed and Zelda BOTW into Immortals Fenyx Rising. It's a great game with its own unique mystery, emotion and humor layer.
If you really like Zelda games, then you should instead embrace Immortals Fenyx Rising. Finally a big AAA publisher is making a Zelda like game, and Immortals is actually also doing some stuff better than BOTW. IMHO, It has a better pacing and feels more like a classic Zelda adventure in some areas.
I know I'll get it eventually at some point, when the gold edition is on a deep ubisoft sale, but a demo is definitely welcome. It should've been there at the game's release, if you ask me.
My 8 year old, who put over 400 hours into BotW, lost interest in this game after about 4 hours. FREE GAME FOR ME!
This turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable game. Lots to do and it’s easy to choose between finding a puzzle, “shrine”, combat, or general exploration as I’ve found none of those to be too far away at any time.
Sign me up for a demo. I intended to buy it but then I looked at my back catalog and other hobbies. It wouldn't take much to talk me into it if I'm into the demo.
Thanks for saying something, @CTmatic. I didn't mean for my comment to look like trolling, but it did, so I gladly changed it.
GameStop was the first to start that $30 price point for Immortals in late December. So, I think GameStop deserves street cred for blazing the trail on that $30 deal. And you're right, sale prices are always coming and going. So, Wednesdays are new-sale-price-days at GameStop, you say? That's good info, since I prefer to give my business to brick and mortar stores. Thanks, my friend
No problem, I didn’t take it that way either. Glad to see someone respond to me in a civilized manner to. Lol. It doesn’t happen all the time here, but when I try to be helpful with something I usually get a response like I was trying to say I told ya so or someone will spin it to a negative remark.
Yes sir, every Wednesday morning the person who opens the GameStop store has to prompt a sticker list (price change) list. Sometimes it’s literally 5-10 games, sometimes it can be in the hundreds. So Wednesday is the prime day to check what game you’re looking for costs. A lot of people assume GameStop keeps new games at $59.99 for a very long time. That’s really not the case. Most prices drop a lot then go back up for a few weeks, then back down, often. @WoomyNNYes
Oh, this makes me happy!!! I don't usually play these kinds of games, so I'm glad I can try before I buy! It just looks so interesting (because I love Greek mythology themed stuff).
I'll always take a demo. With so many games to play I'm not sure if I want to be bothered with it yet.
@WhiteTrashGuy it's $30 on Amazon. I know, it's not $25
I’ll try the demo. Glad someone made a new Kid Icarus game.
I've seen it at Target a couple of times recently for $30. May end up being one of those perpetually on sale games like Mario Rabbids.
The requirement for a Ubisoft account contributed to putting me of this game. Sets a bad precedent IMO. If the demo doesn't require account may give it a try.
I would try the demo for sure
@dres I can't say I don't agree, I am probably bit of arrogant here. I am also aware of the fact, that Zelda borrowed some mechanics from other games (most funny and ironic example is towers and map revealing system from Ubisoft – so Immortals might be direct revenge for that ). And yes, I am a Zelda fanboy (for a reason). I wrote I am giving it a chance and as I have low expectations it might surprise me. Zelda BOTW is one of the greatest game of all time, and while my gaming history is quite huge, my experience with Nintendo and Zelda games is pretty shallow. Zelda BOTW astound my heart and kept an unremovable memory – I have a doubt Immortals can do the same. Look I am just being honest here — I wanted to try the game to have my own experience and demo will do the job. My presumption (based on majority of Ubisoft titles) is that if I will buy full game, I would lost interest in it after few hours. I have the right to express my not so positive expectations.
