Hardware hacker Mike Choi is at it again with another crazy invention. This time it's a new Switch "total-body" exercise program called Labo Fit Adventure Kart. It mashes together Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Ring Fit Adventure, Nintendo Labo, and an exercise bike to create a grueling but highly entertaining video game workout.
This kit allows you to control your kart's acceleration by pedaling, and to turn and shoot items you'll have to rotate and squeeze the Ring-Con. Below is a quick look, along with Mike's motivation behind this creation:
"Like many people, I find seeking the motivation to exercise impossibly difficult. That's why this year, I decided the only way I'm going to get fit is by combining exercise with Mario Kart. So I designed and built an entire system of custom accessories and sensors to allow me to control Mario Kart while exercising!"
The same kit can also be used with other games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but good luck winning a fight (see 08:27).
The remainder of the video above is allocated to the construction of the device. Mike also went to the extent of creating his very own amiibo, although it doesn't actually do anything. At least it looks neat!
Mike Choi is best-known within the Nintendo community as the creator of the Flip Grip. You can read all about this nifty peripheral in our full hardware review.

I thought this was official at first, and was super confused.
Same, I was like woahhhhhhhh
I had to double check my calendar to make sure that April 1st didn't come early
No QOL Sleep Sensor, no dice.
I love it. And I also hate it.
Dude seems funny; what a witty personality.
I’d buy it.
Unless he attaches the ring to the bike, you're in for back or elbow pains. Good idea though....I miss Namco's Propcycle...
Wow... this was really well produced.
A few times he reminded me of Tim Rogers. I wonder if he watches his stuff, or used to when he made videos for Kotaku. It's a great video. I thought it was real, then fake, then real again. I had no idea he created the flip grip so I'm grateful that bit of info was included. The flip grip is awesome.
Eh, I'm waiting for the Knuckles version.
talented guy and nice idea. I love mario kart and would not want to mix it with Ring fit in anyway! I like sitting in my chair and gaming when on Mario Kart- it also has me jumping up and down during games often enough lol
Love Mike Choi. I would totally buy something like from Nintendo though Mike shows that this particular method does not work very well!

@Blooper987 same. I immedietly thought it was legit
Pedal to accelerate? hmm cool
@60frames-please If it was like Tim Rodgers it would be about 3hrs long and contain thousands of meandering, naval-gazey, self worship, pointless tangents and waffle that sound smart but amount to very little.
Rodgers needs to be medically prescribed an editor, stat.
@Blooper987 I dunno why they title their articles in such a way, they don’t need the clicks that bad. It just lacks the integrity the site used to have. Soon as I saw it was fan made I was like “oh yeah... this is why this site is no longer my top choice for news”
@Folkloner I hear you. I liked the shorter videos he used to do for Kotaku. Many were pretty damn funny. I don't see him in terms of self worship though. He seems too hard on himself more often to me. I understand that, it's a natural result of living too much in one's head (something I do, along with most people, I think). Anyways, this video is pretty great.
Cool idea to add the ring-con as well!
I have the cyberbike that came to the nintendo wii which you still can use for the switch with an adapter. I can use the pedals to accelerate in Mario kart, but the ring-con seems to make it much harder to concentrate.
Amazing!
And like he said in the end, Nintendo could EASILY make a Mario Kart patch for it to detect the Ringcon and Legstrap running inputs.
I bet it could be done in a week of programming if even that.
Damn I saw Fit and thought a follow-up to the Wii Fit series had finally come. I was about to toss my Wii U as it's only purpose now is Wii Fit U for me 😅
Love the idea, I would be totally play this for a week and then have it collecting dust next to my pair of dumbells, DDR dance-pad, rowing machine etc.
Wow. This is pretty cool.
@Bizaster I do like Death Note, lol, but no, just a Detroit Tigers fan
