You play the most niche, obscure JRPG release and it has voice acting for all major cutscenes. You play the latest release from the most prolific multimedia franchise and all characters are dead silent as the animations practically beg for voiced dialogue
It's not just time, it's way past time they added it!
8, it has a strong core and it's pretty fun. The art direction is top-tier and I love the soundtrack. My problems are with the incentives for free roam and a few bizarre choices, which could be solved in updates but until then won't change my score.
Does the fact that the mod infringes on Pokémon copyright not invalidate this? I can imagine the two things being unrelated, but this at least makes me imagine Nintendo will just find a way to take down the mod as well lol
Let's hope they actually keep the updates weekly, that would be plenty for me. Even if it's weekly for like a year and then eventually slows down to biweekly. If it's as sporadic as NSO updates, I'm not gonna like it. But either way I'll probably have to wait a while for Xenoblade...
For as great of a game as it is, Tears of the Kingdom handles Breath of the Wild's lore so dang poorly. I realize it's just how they do things, but the missed potential is frustrating.
These really need to stop being 2 hours long. It's like they want to meet that specific goal for time so they just keep shoving in random games nobody's ever going to remember
If you're going to make a Fire Emblem game that isn't a spin-off and doesn't have the traditional gameplay of the series, you're not going to make a Fire Emblem game and you will piss off the entire fanbase. Engage sold plenty well enough, being the second entry for its system, with divisive opinions, generally off-putting character designs for many people and a very barebones story and cast. This is like saying Xenoblade should become a gacha game series because XC2 sold the best and XC3 didn't break 2 million.
I think it comes down to how the development process went. Was it about improving existing assets and/or only replacing a few with newer ones or were they making the equivalent of a completely new game, but with an existing game to base it off of?
Essentially, the way I see it, a remaster is like if you took a drawing, traced over it and (tried to) improve it. Maybe you even went and drew a new character where there wasn't one before, but you didn't draw it from scratch. A remake is like if you took that drawing as a reference point and made an entirely new one. Maybe it came out looking exactly like the original, or maybe it looks really different, but either way you started from zero.
Incredibly wild to see people talk about 30fps vs 60fps as if it was 900p vs 1080p. I can instantly tell whether a game is 30 or 60 when I play.
That said, it isn't a deal breaker, just a tad disappointing. Hopefully the next system will have PS5-style framerate upgrades, but I sincerely doubt it.
I absolutely hate that the "budget price" for Nintendo releases is 50 bucks with no sale in sight. I would be more likely to give this a chance at 30 or 20.
This is promising set design... in that it looks neat. But I can't see this working in a movie with real people to be honest. "Live action Minecraft" has always seemed like a terrible idea lol
When I saw Rare, and they started showing more than one game, I immediately jumped to DK64, Banjo-Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Diddy Kong Racing. We promptly got none of those, so I wonder if they're being saved for the next system, assuming NSO continues.
If anybody picks this up and complains about the easy difficulty, they're kidding themselves, right? There's no way anyone expected it to be challenging.
I actually really like the occasional extremely-easy game.
What's really exciting is the Q&A section where they're letting people submit questions. The example questions they gave are things many fans have already asked before, so they definitely know what we want! Even if we just get answers to those examples I'd already be glad.
They might do a Direct mini this month if all they've got left for the Switch is to show more of Peach Showtime, Splatoon 3 Side Order, Luigi's Mansion and Thousand-Year Door. But considering they already got some Mario vs. DK info out of the way, I don't think so...
They won't go for Super Switch. That has the unfortunate likelihood of people confusing it for a simple mid-generation upgrade instead of the next thing. I think Switch 2 (or maybe Switch II) is likely, because they can also keep it going for as long as it's successful with Switch 3, Switch 4, etc.
But yeah, knowing Nintendo they'll call it the Nintendo Gooberdoober or something.
Worse than the general difficulty of it, why does nobody mention how annoying it is that you have to buy the story chapters in F-Zero GX with stupid tickets? What?? You'd think the story, as hard as it is, would be a way to get the player used to certain mechanics before trying them in races, but you have to race a bunch before you can even do that. I just wanted to go through the story and leave it at that, but I'm forced to do a bunch of Grand Prix races I couldn't care less about... which I understand is probably a unique position, but my point still stands, it's not something that anyone would WANT the game to have.
Given their employee retention rate, I assume this isn't true for everyone working there. Definitely not a negative story about the company as I have seen some people try to spin it as (not that they can't be criticized).
To anyone curious, "bem feito" would translate literally to "well made" / "well done". In Brazil, when it's used standalone in a sentence it's usually to say "that's what you get! (for doing that bad/stupid thing)".
I really wish they would port over all of the Tour content already. It stopped getting new content, which means it's going to die forever soon enough. Would be nice to have all of its new characters and at least some costumes immortalized.
Since they're doing more translations, they should add Brazilian Portuguese as well, given that Pikmin 4 already launched with it. (Nintendo if you're reading this I'm up for hire)
Both of them look like fanmade collages. There is zero atmosphere or shading to either piece, with the renders looking completely disconnected from each other (seriously, what is that Goomba doing in the European one), but at least the US one has slightly more interesting composition.
I'll be rotating between them until I get bored and start picking at random. Probably only going to use the easy mode characters when I'm going back for collectables.

Holy ***** can these companies just admit they hate physical and stop it
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd May)
@JohnnyMind Basic missions are essentially infinite, I wouldn't worry about doing them all 😅
Re: Uh Oh, It Looks Like Select Switch 2 Games Won't Support Cloud Saves
Can we please go a day without another PR/messaging nightmare? What the hell is going on at Nintendo?

What IS that thing on the thumbnail
Re: Talking Point: The 3DS Library Is Ripe For Switch 2, But Is NSO The Way To Go?
Ideally both, with purely remakes/remasters we'd get way fewer than what NSO could offer.
Re: Catly Developer Says Game Does Not Use Generative AI, Blockchain Tech, Or NFTs
Even if the game has no AI in it, damn that trailer looks terrible. Horrible quality textures and an awful framerate

Not a knock on the site - you guys are just saying the truth. But we really need the Switch 2 already don't we?

Small correction: "leak onto the internet once it all kicks off on 24th November" should say 24th October.

Not a fan of the grey and yellow half-and-half on the JP one. NA one is also more consistent with the rest of the series' covers.

5. Tomodachi Life

Re: Talking Point: Our 2024 Nintendo Gaming Predictions
Why remake Minish Cap before Oracle of Ages & Oracle of Seasons?
Re: Your 'Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2023' Stats Are Available Now
Quite good year for me. 665 hours across 36 games.
1. Splatoon 3: 215 hours
2. Tears of the Kingdom: 180 hours (still need to complete it...)
3. Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection: 50 hours
Surprised I put that much time into the Mega Man collection, but I guess it was 6 great games (Zero 3 being my favorite).
The only months where Splatoon didn't have the most playtime were April (Xenoblade 3 DLC obsession), May-July (Zelda) and August (Pikmin).
Shoutout to Pikmin 4, ended up being my favorite this year with Mario Wonder right behind it.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Wario Land: Shake It!
NA is kind of boring, it's between Europe and Japan. I went with Europe because it shows off a bunch of different settings.
Japan really likes their static images on white backgrounds don't they?
