Nintendo Switch 2 (finally) has Games

My university’s on spring break all this week, so I would like to take this as an opportunity to start a new game, preferably an RPG. I would like to start either Trails in the Sky 1 (original) or Tales of Vesparia DE. I’m also still grinding Donpa Tickets in Sonic Racing Crossworlds. I still need to get all horns.

Honestly, I did say I was going to get FireRed, but after seeing how Nintendo/ TPC are doing nothing special with this rerelease, like adding widescreen support or other features, $20 is a bit much for a 20+ year old ROM.

Yes, $20 for GBA games is a bit steep, but I’d rather have them to own then rent on NSO. I have FireRed emulated but I will certainly buy the official release.

@DiamondJim I don’t think HD 2D has been done to death… my problem is that every game that uses it looks the same.

Also, Square Enix needs to stop remaking stuff. I want to see new worlds and characters, like this game sets out to do

I just love the new art they did for the Switch 2 version. Is that present in the Switch 1 version as well?

I personally would like to see new footage of Adventures of Elliot or Dragon Quest XII…

Wouldn’t be surprised if the high MSRP and Nick characters caused the low sales…

After getting every achievement in the game, minus getting all horns and course decals, this game isn’t worth 70 usd.

I’ll say this again… where was this backlash / energy when Skullgirls was censored????

It’s funny how everyone’s getting angry at this game getting censored since it doesn’t look like Skullgirls or anime

@siavm I think most people who are gonna play this will be the same people who played the 3DS one, and that came out roughly 13 years ago. They’re most likely going to be teens and young adults

I’m doing some achievement huntin’ in Sonic Racing Crossworlds. I finished all of the Grand Prixs and Time Trials, and I’m now grinding Race Park mode to get tickets so I can buy all of the cosmetics.

I got Super Sonic in Sonic Racing Crossworlds last night. I am now playing around in the Race Park mode, as well as continuing to get A ranks in the Super Sonic Speed time trials to buff up my jukebox. I’ve also been making more progress in Sea of Stars this week. I beat the Dweller of Woe on Monday.

I really like to see a remaster of Dragon Quest 8

My granny wasn’t feeling well last week, so we postponed our Christmas party for this weekend. After the party, I’ll be able to play.

I’ve been recently playing Dark Souls: Remastered. It’s fun exploring new areas and fighting (or in most cases running away from) enemies. I just got to the Undead Church yesterday. I would like to make more progress in Sea of Stars this weekend as well.

Aside from gaming, I made a Backloggd account at the start of this calendar year! When the sales finish up Monday, I really want to pause buying new games and play what I have. It’s a fun way to revisit my library and play games I never touched yet.

Continuing Sonic Frontiers. Cleared out all maps on every island and am currently working on the Action Chain Challenges so I can get the spin dash. We’re having family over for a Christmas party tomorrow, but I’ll be able to do some shopping later this week. I’d like to grab some games this week while the Steam sale’s going on, particularly DOA 5 Last Round.

@dskatter This was literally how it went down with the Skullgirls debacle. Everyone against the censorship in that game was being called n**is and and gooners and the like. It was insane.

Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope and Sonic Frontiers on Steam, hoping to get all achievements in the latter.

On Switch, I started the original Shantae game (yes, the one on the Gameboy) yesterday. Just made it to Water Town and met Bolo.

Does this type of stuff really matter for a game like this? From what I’ve heard it was mostly a visual novel

Just repurchased Silksong on Switch because this game should not be only $20. Can’t wait for the new update!

I’m getting my wisdom teeth out on Monday, so I’ll likely be spending my recovery time gaming. I really want to pick up Clair Obscure while it’s on sale. I don’t know exactly what I’ll be playing, but I know that either Hollow Knight or Silksong will be in the mix for a casual revisit.

Sonic Racing Crossworlds finally went on sale on Steam, so I tried out the game last night with some Grand Prixs and Time Trials. For playing on the lowest speed for the former, I really enjoyed what I played so far! The real meat of the game for me will probably be online, though, so I can’t quite make a decision on whether or not the game is worth its full 70 usd price tag.

Aside from that, I’ll be doing some achievement hunting in River City Girls.

Continuing my Sea of Stars playthrough on Switch. I forgot how fun the combat in this game was! Seraii just joined my team, and I defeated Romaya.

On Steam, I just snagged the ultimate edition of KOF 15, Half Genie Hero, River City Girls 2 (with the Double Dragon DLC), and Absolum. I’ll be playing those as well.

Meh… let me know when Pac Man’s coming

@UltimateOtaku91 Well, you’re free to disagree with me, of course, but I personally think that is ridiculous. A remake of a game from 20+ years ago shouldn’t really count as an “original” game. It’s one reason why I think the Game Awards are a joke

@Tyranexx No problem! I don’t play RPGs nearly as much as I used to back in high school. I’m in college now and most of the RPGs I get into are on the shorter side, like Paper Mario: TTYD

I understand why E33 would be game of the year, but Silksong managed to cause both the Eshop AND Steam’s payment servers to crash.

I’d still be 100 percent cool with either game winning though. I’d like to play Clair Obscure, when I have the free time for it.

PS, why is the Mortal Kombat Collection nominated for best fighting? Aren’t those games like 20+ years old??

@Tyranexx I have the originals, but I’ve never gotten around to them just yet. Still, I’d recommend the OGs first, just so you know what you’re getting into in terms of lore. The remake is also much longer than its original, so the og would be better if you’re low on free time.

That’s awesome! Hopefully this could lead to the second, and even third game, getting more faithful translation jobs

Continuing my first, and hopefully only, Steel Soul run in Silksong. I also would like to start a new game in my backlog this weekend… maybe City of the Wolves or Guacamelee.
