This weekend, I will spend more time playing as Marie in Skullgirls 2nd Encore. I tried her out and went through her story mode (aka skipped the cutscenes) on her launch day, and I enjoyed what I played! I’ll maybe rewatch the cutscenes on my own time, or wait until they get fully voiced, because her story mode is really good, apparently.
Last night, I made some more progress in Sea of Stars. I got to Brisk and met the pirate crew. I’ll likely play more when I’m not celebrating Easter with my family. It would be nice to make some progress in Mega Man X4 as well.
I’ll likely play more Age of Calamity this weekend. I’m trying to finish up as many combat trials and side quests as possible, at least those in the base game. I also plan on finishing more Maverick Hunter stages in Mega Man X 4 via the Legacy Collection, as well as grabbing the new spirits in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I’ll maybe do another arcade run of Shredder’s Revenge, but it won’t be as likely.
On the laptop, I’ll likely play Pizza Tower. I’m on the fourth floor right now, playing as The Noise. I’ll also maybe play Enter the Gungeon.
My physical copy of Shredder’s Revenge came earlier this week, so I’m going to play an arcade run of that while continuing Mega Man X4 through the legacy collection.
On the laptop, I’ve been enjoying the new Noise update for Pizza Tower. I’ve already gone through the first floor and beat Pepperman
@Dark_Isatari Thanks! I’m very excited to play as Zero. I knew you could technically play as him in X3, but I wanted to ensure he was with me at the end.
@JohnnyMind Have fun with Persona 5 Strikers, dude! As someone who played it before Persona 5 (I knew what already happened in vanilla P5 lore wise), it is easily the best Persona spinoff. I actually like to call it a full blown sequel!
I finished Mega Man X3 last night, so I’ll likely start up Mega Man X4 this weekend via the legacy collection. I’m also getting a physical copy of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge today, so I’ll maybe do an arcade run of that.
I gave it a 7. Penny’s Big Breakaway and Star Wars got my attention, and EPIC MICKEY getting a remake made my jaw drop. Was a little disappointed that PS5 got Hi Fi Rush, but I figure they’ll be saving that for the Switch’s successor. Seeing Killer Instinct and a bunch of other Rare games on NSO made up for that. So yeah, it was just good.
Other than getting the new spirits in Smash Bros Ultimate, I don’t know what I’ll be playing this weekend. A few days ago, I finished Gris and got that out of the backlog. Such a beautiful game!
So in terms of Switch, I don’t know what to play this weekend. Maybe I’ll start something new or replay an old favorite.
I’ve been going through the story mode for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 this week. I’m currently on chapter 5, so I’ll try to finish another chapter or two. I forgot how fun this game was! I didn’t make any progress in Mega Man X3 like I said I would last week, so I’ll try to squeeze in that as well.
While I do not intend on playing them, I also got physical copies for Shovel Knight Treasure Trove, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, and River City Girls 1 AND 2!
I defeated Calamity Ganon in Age of Calamity yesterday. Such a fun, underrated game! I spent the evening trying to get my characters stronger, as well as trying to get the Guardian parts to revive Terrako. I also got the expansion pass when I got the game, so I’m pretty close to getting the Battle Tested Guardian as well. I do want to finish up other games in my backlog, though, so I’ll come back to Age of Calamity another day.
So this weekend, I’ll work on getting the new spirits in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and maybe make more progress in Mega Man X3 and Sea of Stars.
I’ve been really getting into Age of Calamity this week! I’ve just taken back Akkala Citadel from the Yiga Clan, and I’ve done 11 combat trials and 70 side quests. I’m going to spend this weekend doing more combat trials to strengthen my available characters.
More exploring in Tears of the Kingdom. I managed to get the Tunic of Memories last night, and I’m getting started with the labyrinth puzzles. I also stumbled upon one of the Twilight pieces on accident!
I was able to get a TON of games from all of the holiday sales. I was able to get:
Sea of Stars
Gravity Circuit
Chained Echoes
Vernal Edge
Super Mario RPG
LIVE A LIVE
Guacamelee
Guilty Gear
Nick All Star Brawl
Age of Calamity
Yooka Laylee
and Lego Star Wars: the Skywalker Saga
I already got started with Sea of Stars, so I’ll be going through that this weekend along with TOTK. Happy New Year, everyone!
@Lightsiyd I believe if you scan a Samus or EMMI amiibo, you can get daily refills for health and ammo. To get boss Rush, you just have to beat the game
@Lightsiyd Basically, sequence breaking is using more advanced techniques in order to acquire items in an order that is much different from when you play it on the first go. I won’t spoil anything for you, but what you can do from it feels so satisfying in the long run.
Thanks! I’ve been playing Sonic Mania ever since it launched back in 2017, but I’ve gotten multiple copies of it over the years, first on Xbox, then I got it digitally on Switch in 2019, then I got a Steam copy AND a Switch PHYSICAL copy this year, and got the Encore DLC on all three platforms. Seriously, the game’s THAT good!
Exploring the Depths in Tears of the Kingdom. I found the monster from the Wind Temple down there, but I teleported away right when it spotted me! I might take it on soon. I also got Suika Game last night and played for about an hour. I really enjoyed it! On Xbox, I am doing some achievement huntin' in Sonic Mania Plus. I got all of the gold medallions for the blue sphere stages.
I'm going to be working all afternoon today and going to an uncle's house for Christmas Day, but I'm going to take advantage of all of these holiday sales going on. I might pick up Sea of Stars and Chained Echoes on Switch, and maybe Chrono Trigger on my laptop. I already picked up Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 on my Xbox for $20, and I'm currently playing through the first game. I'm in Wonderland right now.
@Pally356 I agree. I’m most excited about what they’re gonna do with Jet Set Radio, but the Shinobi game looks the best in my opinion. I’m so excited about this!
@Shadowking58 Dang, that’s rough to hear. Still, best of luck to the devs on their future projects. This game looks super fun, and is a great fighting game in general from what I’ve seen / heard.
Holy moly, that’s sad to hear! Between this and the censorship update with Skullgirls back in June, it has not been the best year for fans of indie fighting games. I still have the physical edition of TFH, but I haven’t played it yet. I probably should soon.
Also, does this mean they’re taking the story mode out of the game, or will we just see it unfinished?
I beat Super Mario Bros Wonder last night! That final boss was one of the most fun boss fights I have ever gone up against in a game.
After that, this weekend I might play some Cuphead to cleanse my palette, as well as dabbling in some survival mode for TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge.
I also got some kick butt deals on the Eshop. I bought Gris, Capcom Fighting Collection, and that Pac Man game compilation. I also snagged a physical copy of Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania Edition.
@Vyacheslav333 it sucks because they literally could have made these changes optional through a sensitive content toggle a la Bayonetta 3. We could simply have everybody be excited for Marie if that happened, but since it’s mandatory for everyone, the fan base is now divided and THIS is the note we end on…
I may play Marie / go through her story mode when she drops (and maybe rewatch the new characters’ story modes with voice acting) but after that, Skullgirls isn’t getting another minute of playtime from me
@Snatcher It’s ironic because I do not care about Filia’s changes, as with a lot of people against the update. I’m most upset about removal of guest art / crowdfunded content (Russian announcer), Big Band’s intro cutscene, and what they did to the Black Egrets
I just got the deluxe edition of The King of Fighters XIII: Global Match on launch day. I’m gonna go through the story content, while getting to world 3 in Super Mario Bros Wonder.
I also plan on going back to Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne going into Thanksgiving break. I’m in this weird garage looking room, but I’m using a guide to help me know where to go, and it looks like I’m close to fighting Matador.
Blade Chimera looked really cool, and the “new” Shantae game finally being released after so many years in Metroid Dread-esque limbo was super nice to see… but nothing else caught my interest other than those two. I’m happy for Outer Wilds fans though. I give this a 6.
I got to Pyramid Island in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk a few nights ago. I intend to take on Devil Theory there this weekend. I also plan on doing some more general exploring in Tears of the Kingdom and upgrading my battery charge for my Zonai creations. Of course, I’ll also play some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe online, now that all of the DLC cups are out. I got three stars rankings on all 150, Mirror, and 200cc Grand Prix, which is really satisfying!
On the laptop, I got to the third floor in Pizza Tower. I might try to get through that so I can fight my main man, The Noise.

Getting through the DLC chapters in Age of Calamity
