Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (10th August)

OwenGamer22

This week, I finally beat all eight chapters of The Thousand Year Door. Such an awesome game, I’ll definitely do another playthrough sometime this year! I’m now going to start Super Mario RPG for my next Mario RPG.

In SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos, I got the good ending as Terry! I’m going to try to get Ken or Ryu’s ending next.

Lastly on Switch, I downloaded the new versions of DOOM and DOOM II. Got up to E1M5 in the first game with the newly remixed soundtrack.

On Xbox, I started Sonic Adventure 2. I played up to the part where Tails began looking for Eggman’s secret base in the desert. I’m loving the game so far, definitely better than Adventure 1 gameplay wise.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd August)

OwenGamer22

This week, I beat ALL stories in Sonic Adventure on my Xbox! I enjoyed all of the stories, but E-102 Gamma’s was easily my favorite. I would like to start up Sonic Adventure 2 this weekend, either on Xbox as well, or on my laptop with some graphical upgrade mods installed. It would be a good way to prepare myself for Sonic X Shadow Generations in the fall.

Other than that, I am continuing chapter 6 in The Thousand Year Door, and I would like to make more progress in Dragon Quest III.

Re: Nintendo Life's Switch Summer Survey 2024

OwenGamer22

I think you guys should have worded the question regarding the quality of Switch Online better. When you say “Nintendo Switch Online”, do you mean with the Expansion Pass or JUST the base subscription? Because I am subscribed to the base subscription, as I think it’s a good deal, but I don’t think I’ll ever sub to the expansion

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (27th July)

OwenGamer22

I’ll be spending most of my time this weekend playing SNK Vs Capcom: SVC Chaos. I wouldn’t call myself good at fighting games (other than Skullgirls), but I’ve been interested in this game for quite some time and would like to be better at it, especially since it has Metal Slug representation (a franchise I am very fond of) with Mars People. I’m starting with Terry, and I would like to get all of the endings. It will be a long, fun challenge!

On the side, I’ll be continuing chapter 6 in The Thousand Year Door, and continuing my journey in Dragon Quest III. I have opened Sea of Stars within the past week, but I don’t know where to go next after meeting the pirate crew at Brisk. I suppose I’ll just rely on a guide for that somewhere.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th July)

OwenGamer22

@Vyacheslav333 I do own the first game digitally, so I would like to play that first so I know what I’m getting into lore wise. I think there are physical versions of that game for Switch as well, so I’ll maybe get one in the distant future…

I don’t know, man, there’s just something so nice about owning a tangible cartridge!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th July)

OwenGamer22

These past few days have been pretty fun! I took huge advantage of some Amazon prime day deals this week. I got the following games:

Mario and Rabbids (BOTH original game and Sparks of Hope)
Under Night in Birth 2
The King of Fighters XIII: Global Match
Persona 5 Tactica
Dragon Quest 1-3 (PlayAsia version)

And along with those games, I also got an 8 Bit Do arcade stick for $10 less! I’ve been testing it out with Pac Man via Museum+, Skullgirls 2nd Encore , and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. It’s working very nicely! I plan to try some more arcade-esque games with it this week.

On Sunday, we are actually going to visit my grandma after not going last week due to inclement weather. I plan to get back into Sea of Stars on the car ride.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (13th July)

OwenGamer22

Currently on Chapter 6 in The Thousand Year Door. I beat chapters 4 and 5 this week, and I’ve enjoyed them much more than Chapter 3! Excited to see what comes next.

I will be visiting my grandma on Sunday, so I’ll maybe play Sea of Stars or start up the original Dragon Quest III on the car ride.

Re: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Looks Stunning In New Gameplay Footage

OwenGamer22

@Overzeal I believe Erdrick is the TITLE you are given, not necessarily the name of the character. I remember in Sakurai’s Smash video for the hero when the canon name of the III protagonist is “Arusu”. That is to say, Arusu is a descendant of Erdrick, meaning he is a descendant of a legendary hero. Hopefully this makes sense!

While the Type A / B thing is dumb imo (since it’s just male and female with a different title), I don’t understand people complaining about you, the player, being the protagonist

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (6th July)

OwenGamer22

I finished Chapter 3 in The Thousand Year Door last night. It took a few weeks for me to do this unlike the past few chapters, but I finally made it through! The twist at the end was also something I did not expect at all! I will start Chapter 4 properly after doing a few side quests and getting some collectibles.

I would also like to make some progress in Sea of Stars sometime this month. I haven’t opened the game since I got to Brisk and met the pirate crew a few months ago. I’ve been playing Tropical Freeze on the side as well to prep me up for Returns HD. I’m at the final world right now, but I would like to go back to previous worlds to get all of the puzzle pieces.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd June)

OwenGamer22

Hearing about the Dragon Quest HD 2D remakes got me encouraged to replay the first Dragon Quest game on my Switch. It’s super fun, but it does feel kind of odd fighting only one enemy per encounter. I’ll also play some Darkstalkers via the Capcom Fighting Collection out of hype for the Marvel vs Capcom collection coming later this year. It’s also available for preorder as of yesterday, and I already secured a copy for Switch. I will also be continuing Chapter 3 in Paper Mario: TTYD.

On Xbox, I’ve been making my way through Doom Eternal. I’m dying quite a lot, but I’ve gotten much better with the combat. I just completed the Cultist Base level last night. I would also like to make more progress in Tails’s story in Sonic Adventure after getting stuck after heading to the Egg Carrier for the first time.

Re: Surprise! Shovel Knight's Original Adventure Is Getting The Deluxe Treatment

OwenGamer22

As I have seen a few other people say online in regards to this announcement, I’d much rather see completely new campaigns with the other members of the Order of No Quarter.

I guess it’s worth buying if you care about the extra playable characters and ability to use multiple cheats simultaneously, but I don’t see the appeal for this other than that.

Also, are the save states and rewind features REALLY that necessary? I thought the difficulty of the original game was just right, and adding save states would completely kill the purpose of how this game’s checkpoints work. I’ll wait for the price point until I make a decision. I think $15 or even $20 is reasonable, but anything above that is a hard pass for me.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th June)

OwenGamer22

This week, I preordered Sonic X Shadow Generations on my Xbox One and Switch. In preparation for that, I’ve been playing Sonic Adventure on my Xbox. I finished Big’s story yesterday, and finished Sonic’s story the day before. I’ll maybe go through Tails’s or Amy’s story this weekend.

I also would like to make more progress in SMT: Nocturne this weekend to prep myself for Vengeance. In between those two games, I’ll maybe play some Shovel Knight to chill out.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (8th June)

OwenGamer22

Not much gaming for me this weekend! I’ll be working all afternoon / evening today, and our house has been getting ready for a graduation party we’ll be hosting tomorrow. If I do get a chance to play games, it would probably be a few rounds of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Just Shapes and Beats online.

I did take advantage of the mega rad sale yesterday, though! I got Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable, Infernax, Under Night in Birth exe, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Vampire Survivors. I’ll maybe get a few more games from the sale when I get paid later this week.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (25th May)

OwenGamer22

I found a physical copy of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door at my local Best Buy yesterday. I’m really enjoying what I played! I just defeated Hooktail, and now I’m going back to the Thousand Year Door to see where I must go next. Very excited to play more this long weekend, with some Breath of the Wild in between.

I also ordered physical copies of Fight N Rage, Sea of Stars, and both Ori games due to arrive by tomorrow.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (18th May)

OwenGamer22

I fired up a new Breath of the Wild save file last night! Accessed four towers and retrieved two memories. I’m about to go back to Impa to get the Champion’s Tunic. After that, I don’t know if I should do more general exploring and hunt for more shrines to up my heart count, or tackle a Divine Beast straight away. I also have to choose if I want to do Vah Ruta first, since I’m so close to Necluda, or Vah Medoh to get Revali’s Gale, the best Champion ability in the game.

I also got Minecraft on my laptop this week and started a new world in Java edition. I’ll maybe make some progress in that world.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (11th May)

OwenGamer22

I finished Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story last night. That game was truly as good as I remembered it to be! I’ll maybe start another retro RPG on Delta, probably Earthbound or Superstar Saga.

On Switch, I won’t be playing much due to work all this afternoon / evening and celebrating Mother’s Day, but I’ll use the car ride and time I have this morning to make more progress in Vernal Edge or SMT III: Nocturne HD. I did beat Matador this week, but it was a bit of a grind.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (4th May)

OwenGamer22

I finished my Hollow Knight playthrough this week, so last night I started Vernal Edge for the first time. About 40 minutes in, I’m exploring the fungal cavern area.

In my Bowser’s Inside Story playthrough, I’m currently looking for the second star cure, and I’m about to battle the Fawful Express. I remember it being my least favorite “giant” battle when I was younger, but I’m excited to revisit it. I’ll maybe go out of my way to look for beans now that I have the drill move.

In addition to those two games, I’d like to make some progress on a Switch RPG. Probably either Sea of Stars, or Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD to prepare for SMT5: Vengeance.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (27th April)

OwenGamer22

I’ve lately been playing Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story via Delta for the past week. I’m currently at Blubble Lake, looking for the first sage. I have an 8Bitdo Pro 2 controller, and I just ordered a phone clip for it. Playing with a controller and the phone clip really enhances the retro experience! I’ll definitely play more of that, and I’ll maybe test it out with Mega Man X.

Other than that, I’m going through the Grimm Troupe content with my Hollow Knight playthrough. I’m planning on doing the banishment route, since I’m also going to do the Godmaster content anyway, so I’ll face NKG either way.

I also got physical copies of Bayonetta and the Capcom Fighting Collection, as well as a complete works art book for Darkstalkers.

Re: Lara Croft's Pinup Posters Go Missing In Tomb Raider I-III Remastered

OwenGamer22

@GooseLoose1 I want to keep this comment section about Tomb Raider, so I will wrap up my lamenting about Skullgirls and the current state of 2nd Encore by suggesting these YouTube videos for more context:

Shortfatotaku: Mariel Cartwright and the Decomposition of Skullgirls

Technicals: The Unsolved Mystery of Skullgirls

And

I Exposed the Company Behind Skullgirls

I promise this will be my last comment on the matter.

Re: Lara Croft's Pinup Posters Go Missing In Tomb Raider I-III Remastered

OwenGamer22

@GarlicGuzzler They removed content out of a digital art book, including censoring concept art, removed guest art from said digital art book AND the in game art museum, removed a crowdfunded stretch goal, and got rid of a certain character’s intro cutscene image for reasons that don’t make sense at all, among many other things.

It was waaaaaaaay more than panty shots, buddy. Please stop straw manning and do your research before you post witty comments.

And to answer your question, the panty shots on Filia getting removed are the LEAST of my worries, as with others who are against that update

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th April)

OwenGamer22

This weekend, I’ll be continuing my Hollow Knight playthrough. I defeated all three Dreamers, 2600+ essence, all but three charms besides Kingsoul, coiled nail w/ 2 pale ore, all movement upgrades and spells with darkened upgrades, two extra soul vessels, 8 masks, and two coliseum trials completed. I’m approaching the endgame with all the Dreamers defeated, but I don’t know which ending to go for. I’m torn between Dream No More, or going the extra mile and doing the Embrace the Void ending so I can experience the Godmaster content.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (13th April)

OwenGamer22

I’m going to be alternating between three games:

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury ; repurchased a physical copy after selling it a few years ago back when I was in high school (and had no money lol). Fired up a new Bowser’s Fury run, defeated Bowser twice now. At around 15 shines.

Hollow Knight ; also started a new playthrough as a reward for beating every game in the Mega Man X Legacy Collection. Got all spells with upgrades except for Howling Wraiths, all movement upgrades, one nail upgrade, six masks, one extra soul vessel. All stags unlocked except for Stag Nest, Deepnest Village, and Queen’s Garden, two coliseum trials completed. This weekend, I would like to start exploring Deepnest. I always tend to tackle this area and defeat Herrah later in the game since I find Deepnest to be pretty difficult if you’re not prepared enough. This would include upgrading my nail, finding charms I could use, and upping my health meter. I would also like to find more of the warrior dream battles to collect essence and get the Dream Gate.

A Little to the Left ; got this game on a whim last night. A really chill puzzle game with satisfying puzzles. I like it!

My birthday is today, so I will be juggling these three games around when I’m not working or celebrating.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (6th April)

OwenGamer22

I beat Mega Man X4 this week as both X and Zero. Zero’s play style s easily my favorite! I did have to turn on rookie hunter mode for the final boss though, cause that was brutal!

Now I’m replaying Mega Man X. I already got through all Maverick stages and found all the upgrades, including the Hadoken! I’ll also play more Sea of Stars, and maybe replay an old favorite as a palette cleanser for finishing every game in the Mega Man X Legacy Collection.
