I strongly recommend the Mega Bloks Movement range of Pokemon models. I'm a massive lego fan and these are easily the best alternatives I've had. The movement mechanisms are genius and they are so much fun to build. Great value too (just wait for the regular Amazon sales).
I'm enjoying it, especially as I have never once been prompted to spend any money on it. I haven't spent a single penny and yet I have over 500 unique cards and over 2,000 cards total. I've also accumulated enough hourglasses to open over 50 more packs when I choose. I'm sure it must be making them billions but I'm not exactly sure how.
She's a handsome devil alright. Looks a really good size, tiny bezel, and beautifully subtle use of colour on the joycon. I'm not sold on the logo but otherwise I can't wait to get my hands on it.
It makes sense to limit trading somehow as otherwise it would be far too easy to complete your dex. I expected trading to be limited to your friends list or something but this sounds like you will not be able to gain the rarer EX cards which is a shame.
@Yalloo It's about 260 so far (including promos) but they so far have only added one set (about 230 cards) and clearly will add more in the future but remains to be seen at what rate.
So far in two days I have amassed about 80 unique cards without spending anything. I am also having a lot of fun learning how to play the game - the basics are pretty simple and it does a good job teaching you. It does seem however that playing online it all depends on how good your deck is so I am way behind.
@Zach777 Or you could start a rational discourse around the subject. For example exploring the contradictory truth that by boycotting Ubisoft because of their actions against their own employees you are hurting the very employees you are trying to support, through missing sales targets and hence losing bonusses and even jobs.
Similarly the question of how many degrees of separation are acceptable when choosing whether or not to boycott a company? If you boycott Ubisoft you must surely apply the same to Activision. And then what else? Gearbox probably. EA? Where does it end? Games have so many people working on them I guarantee every one of them has at least one wrong'un connected to it somewhere.
Personally I would love a Rayman remake and will happily pay for it, I don't think that means I am therefore condoning Ubisoft's past behaviour.
Absolutely baffling to me why so many people thought this would be something to do with Gamecube games. Why on Earth would that require a 10,000 person strong playtest?
Wahoo, I ruddy love Banjo and Kazooie I do. Question for people here who have played the N64 games on Switch - do the controls work alright in handheld with the joy-con?
@Athropos This guy gets it. Could not agree more with you.
Faster load times would be nice as would a better, more solid framerate, but as for the content of the games, the gameplay, the creativity, I don't see any major advantages to a significantly more powerful console.
I never thought otherwise. It looked really nice but nothing so incredible that the OG Switch couldn't handle it. The Prime games have always looked amazing compared to the hardware they were on. The very first on the Gamecube absolutely blew my mind, I remember thinking at the time - how could any game ever look better than this?
@gcunit I get your point but I would say the leap from Super Metroid to Prime was far more radical than Link to the Past to Ocarina. Ocarina was a faithful 3D imagining of the existing Zelda formula but Prime going first person was a much greater departure. Other M is what Prime should have been if simply applying the existing formula to 3D.
To everybody here - please check out Might & Magic. One of the most enjoyable and rewarding puzzlers I have ever played and an absolute steal at that price.
I have every darn one of them and I regret nothing. I also refuse to add up what it cost me and will continue lying to the wife about it for the rest of time
Can't imagine it needed to shift too many copies for the number one spot. Persona 3 Remake in second place is pretty niche and again I wouldn't expect high sales numbers there. So this really doesn't tell us much. I haven't played the game but video reviews make it look incredibly boring. I'm glad it isn't the complete disaster it looked like being, but in a way simply being mediocre is somehow worse.
Skies of Arcadia is clearly the correct answer but I would love to see them give Kid Chameleon another go. It was a bit rough around the edges and clunky in places but had some fantastic ideas and loads of potential. Reboot as a Metroidvania perhaps?
@SpaceboyScreams I absolutely agree with you that a game that needs a console the size of a small fridge to run it is probably going to struggle on one that is smaller than an ipad. We however are just guessing, not pretending we know something we don't.
@SpaceboyScreams That only holds true if the trailer was running the final version of the in-engine gameplay for a game that is nowhere near finished and doing so in real time. As it was a trailer for a game that is maybe two years away, trying to determine anything from it is a waste of time. Especially as they could presumably reduce the settings for any Switch 2 version if they wanted.
Now will Rockstar want to release a less powered Switch 2 version? History suggests probably not, but the idea that concluding this game could not run on an unknown future console is ridiculous. No doubt it wouldn't run as well, but not at all? How can anyone possibly know at this point.
So based on nothing more than a 90 second trailer they have concluded that a game that isn't out yet cannot run on a console that isn't out yet, despite not knowing: 1. The specs needed to run GTA VI 2. The specs of the Switch 2 3. Whether Rockstar are developing a version for the Switch 2
Speculate by all means but don't pretend you know any more than the rest of us.
@JimNorman Thank you NintendoLife - I don't know how many of my complete amiibo collection you have helped me secure over the years, but this is another one. Whilst the more recent ones have been easier to get some do still sell out and I expect this one will too.
One can only hope that if this and next year's Thousand Year Door remake are successful that it will finally lead to a new Mario RPG in the not too distant future.
@the_beaver Yep it's on everything (Switch, PS, Xbox, PC). No release date yet but hopefully 2nd half next year. I backed it on Kickstarter and going by the updates it seems to be coming along nicely so far.
@PikaPhantom @chapuH If you fancy a laugh click on his account and read his previous comments. It's just 1,000 messages saying every time that he will never buy a Nintendo game for $60 because Steam Deck games from 10 years ago only cost $5 and are therefore better. I originally assumed he was a badly programmed ChatGPT but turns out he's simply off his nut.
@Logicfire Here's a bit of a left-field suggestion - try Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair. It's a brilliant platformer that also has a mechanic where every single level has two different forms - a bit like how each level in Mario Wonder is altered when you pick up the wonder flower. It's always on sale these days and is worth every penny.
Sweet, it was a wonderful little game. The original was released at a ridiculous low price of around £20 back in the day so hopefully they don't take the Michael and ask £50, Red Dead style for the remaster. Still, I would urge everyone to give it a go if you haven't already.
I don't think the emergence of these sorts of devices means Nintendo need to do anything different with Switch 2. It does however mean they need to ensure that they get the specs right and that there is enough power to stand side-by-side with these consoles. If Switch 2 is near enough as powerful as an ROG Ally or a Legion Go then people will absolutely choose the Nintendo brand over the others.
Frustratingly there are no screenshots of the actual gameplay in this review for some reason. Also calling it a "match three puzzler" is massively misleading as the game is closer to chess then it is to Candy Crush. This is a wonderful action puzzle game and I urge everyone to give it a try. It's a really fair price too so give it a go.
Edit: Others have now pointed out that the screenshot selection is random here and I just got a poor selection. I stand by the match three comment being reductive though.
By my maths in the next two months the Switch will have surpassed 30 million consoles sold in Japan. That's one sold for every four people! Incredible.
Alternatively you could play the game the way the Developers intended instead of making it actively worse for yourself by destroying the balance they painstakingly took months and years to create.
I love the design of Zelda in this game, my favourite after Skyward Sword. I'm sure a few people are salty that the TotK announcement was for amiibo and not DLC but honestly, do we need the game to be any bigger than it already is? I'll still be playing it up until Mario Wonder being released so I simply don't need an expansion.
If you think watching a speed run isn't for you I urge you to give Games Done Quick a try. It is such a brilliant showcase for gaming and the different communities it creates.
Anything by spikevegeta is a great place to start as he is so good at explaining what is happening as he goes. Really genuine and welcoming as are pretty much all the runners.
