I think it looks rather lovely. Yes the similarities are there but I don't mind a Zelda clone if it is done with love and care and is enjoyable to play in its own right.
@Kalmaro Presumably all these stretch goals have already been implemented anyway as there is not enough time to make any significant changes to the game between now and May. The game must be pretty much finished already.
Edit: I see the stretch goals will be added at a later date. Regardless it is pretty clear that this game was ready to go whatever the Kickstarter result. Why use crowdfunding then? Publicity? Needed short term funds? Whatever the reason it has certainly worked for them. Fair play.
@jarvismp If GTA V isn't the longest record holder then I'll eat my hat. MK8 success is quite remarkable too though. Interestingly despite huge prolonged success neither of these two titles have sequels currently planned (that we know of)....
Hi Zion. You can see that secret beach you mentioned being accessed at 4.42 in your video. You shovel the land out of the way. Can't see much though as the wooden ocarina info is in the way.
@Crockin Sounds like TripAdvisor which is in danger of becoming all powerful here in the UK (if it isn't already). As you say it is a fairly blunt instrument and takes any nuance away from critique. It doesn't do games though thankfully, yet......
User reviews on Metacritic will not effect sales one bit. Everyone knows they are utter BS. Hopefully this has actually bought some publicity to the game and if anything I hope it has helped the sales.
I'm glad these guides still exist in the era of online wikis etc. I know they are out of date by the time they are printed but I will always be a sucker for physical over online.
That being said a guide would pretty much ruin the main element of Animal Crossing - the joy of finding something new and unexpected.
@Krisi I agree completely. We just keep seeing more and more examples of entitled gamers and it's pathetic. You can get a years online for 15 quid. So even if you believe online should be free and even if you believe cloud saves should be free you are still getting Tetris 99 (which is worth 15 quid by itself) and around 80 classic games including dozens of stone cold all-time classics for absolute peanuts. Imagine all these games were put out on a cart and Nintendo charged £20? People would say that was an incredible bargain. I am so sick of people moaning all the time.
And saying it's bad value because emulators exist is the same as saying a TV is not worth 300 quid because you can buy one that fell off the back of a lorry for £50 from a guy round the back of a pub.
@sixrings I've been thinking something similar. I believe an Animal Crossing Direct is nailed on but as for a general one? Who knows. I'm going 60/40 likeliness at this point in favour of having one before E3.
@Custom1991 Yes it is. A big dumb, immature narcissist of a person, desperate to get its point across and reduce every nuanced argument to an easily digestible soundbite. I award the internet zero out of ten.
@gaga64 I agree with you there, at least when the embargo date is the day of release, because that just smacks of cheating the consumer, knowing that they will pay money before knowing whether the game is any good or not. Thankfully though Nintendo have always been really good about setting the embargo date a good few days before release, so it isn't a problem. In fact embargoes can be a good thing - they eliminate the online race to get a review up first, meaning that reviewers can take their time to fully experience a game, knowing that they are not going to be beaten to the punch by a less scrupulous site.
@The_BAAD_Man Rotten thing to do? Nintendo provided an advance copy with the agreement that nothing is published until the agreed upon date. This is a breach of contract plain and simple.
@Kalmaro Yeah I know what you mean. I see them as the natural progression of the Platformer and I don't remember anyone ever complaining that we got too many of those back in the day.
On a related note we really just mean "Metroid" most of the time don't we? I often feel we're being generous to include the "Vania" bit.
@Iacobus Thanks for taking the time to reply. I shall finally give this a go I reckon and will take your advice and nick the missus' yoga mat. Hopefully I can stick at it this time.
@Iacobus I'm thinking of taking the plunge myself. How much are you enjoying it as a game? Is it enough to keep you entertained as well as fit and once you complete it does it start again as new game+ or something?
Alternative view - Sakurai and Nintendo are fully entitled to pick whatever character they like to be part of the game that they themselves have created. Besides, how a character plays should be far more important than who they are. I am a massive Zelda fan but I never play as the Princess herself as I don't get on with her moveset and even though I am not a big Fire Emblem guy I really enjoy playing as Marth and Roy. Sakurai and Nintendo should continue doing whatever they want as that is why we all love this series in the first place.
@CairiB Dark Crystal is available from the 4th Feb so I guess it will only appear on next week's round up. I'm looking forward to that one too, but waiting for the reviews just in case.
@Silly_G I am responsible for one of those Amiibo Festival sales figures I am afraid. Never played the game but needed those cute little doggies for my collection.
The Wii U figures are indeed impressive and just go to prove that despite the system's flaws it had a fantastic library of brilliant games.
@Dirty0814 You do realise that all games whether physical or digital require the same amount of development right? This is a game years in the making with superb gameplay and an incredible art style. So yes it is easily worth a measly 17 quid regardless of the medium used to deliver it.
@BenAV That's what I was doing but then they ran out of stock so I doubt a sale will be coming anytime soon. I tried it out at a trade show and the technology works perfectly. After a 30 min trial I woke up the next day with a sore side from the exercise so it was definitely working.
@Kalmaro Bought this in the recent sale and am absolutely loving it. It is far superior to the first game in every way. Controls are far better (not quite as tight as Mario though), the visuals are great and there's loads of variety. The mechanic where every level is altered for the second playthrough is genius and the hub world is fun too. This is a far more polished effort overall and pretty challenging as well.
A demo is a great idea cos I reckon anyone who plays it will instantly download the full game.

Re: The Wonderful 101: Remastered Secures May Release On Nintendo Switch
@huyi If you back the Kickstarter you can get physical for only a couple of quid extra. Well worth it imo.
Re: The Wonderful 101: Remastered Secures May Release On Nintendo Switch
@link3710 Oh I see, thanks for the correction.
Still unsure whether to back this. I got the original for WiiU but for whatever reason never got round to playing it. I love the art style though.

Re: Kunai Team Discusses The "Very Stressful" Impacts Of Metacritic Review-Bombing
@jamesthemagi I meant Metacritic user scores in general, not just this stunt.
@Crockin I have heard American TV shows refer to Yelp but I have absolutely no idea what that is.

Re: Random: AI: The Somnium Files Got Review-Bombed By Someone Obsessed With One Of Its Characters
I would love for there to be a respectable user review site out there as it could be really useful for more obscure and/or Indie games for example.
Unfortunately the Internet is an idiot and everything is either a zero or a ten.
