Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Update Announced, Here Are The Patch Notes

Ooccoo_Jr

@AJWolfTill Yeah learning when you can heal is a skill in itself and sometimes you have to take a risk and trust to luck. There is that bell ability that saves you once if you get hit while trying and another item that damages enemies whilst you do it, but yes this has done me in a fair few times as well to be fair.

Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Update Announced, Here Are The Patch Notes

@SalvorHardin We defend it because although it is difficult, it is always fair. Fairness is the vital element that is present with Silksong and often absent in others. Old school difficulty was generally by design very unfair, sprites spawning in front of you, leaps of faith, unbalanced enemy numbers. This was done by design to get you paying more credits in arcades or to artificially extend the life of an otherwise very short game. With Silksong every death is your fault, but no death is ever in vain. You learn something each time like an enemy animation that signals a specific attack, figuring out how to dodge a particular attack, when best to strike. Eventually when you figure that out it then becomes a test of execution because you now know the fight so well. Often a boss that previously wiped you out instantly can now be completed without taking a single hit because you learnt how to and got better until you could do it. It is immensely satisfying but requires patience and a bit of belief in yourself. Keep trying even when something initially seems impossible, because I promise you it is always doable.

Incredible game, absolutely worth the wait. I beat Act 3 last week along with every boss in the game and it was so immensely satisfying. The difficulty is so wonderfully pitched as what initially seems to be an impossible boss fight slowly reveals itself with each attempt as you get a little further each time. The true final boss is the perfect example of this - keep going everyone and I promise you will get there. The game is hard but always fair.

Re: Rumour: LEGO Pokémon Collection May Include One Of The Biggest Sets Ever

Ooccoo_Jr

Whilst we wait for these I highly recommend the Megabloks Pokemon range, especially the movement series. The quality is excellent, easily the best non-lego branded version. They are regularly on sale on Amazon so give them a go. If you want a small one I really like Dugtrio. If you want something bigger the Gyrados is exceptional.

Re: Nintendo Sends Out Second Game-Key Card & Physical Game Survey

Ooccoo_Jr

@Misima of course you have a choice. Just buy the game and play it. Then trade it in afterwards if you want. What have you lost? Are you honestly saying you refuse to play any game that you cannot run directly from a cart? Why? Think off all the eshop only games you are missing out on. Or all the online multiplayer games. Surely you see the irony of not playing a game today because you are worried that in 20 years time your game key cards might not work.

Re: Nintendo Sends Out Second Game-Key Card & Physical Game Survey

Ooccoo_Jr

@Misima @rjejr I agree they are worse than proper physical because of the storage issue and I didn't realise you had to still have the cartridge inserted but that obviously makes sense. The whole thing just seems so overblown and 99% of people complaining are never going to be truly negatively affected by this. How many of us are truly collecting physical in order to preserve games from some future shutdown? These games will always be available one way or another so I don't believe that is a real issue. The environment argument is a good one though. I guess a perfect compromise (for me anyway) would be allowing us to sell on a digital download.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart World Speeds Past 1 Million Physical Sales

Ooccoo_Jr

@SuperBro64 I'm with you (super)bro. Mario Kart World is fantastic. If people expected it to be some sort of Horizon clone then that's on them as Nintendo never said it would be anything of the sort. The new courses are excellent, elimination mode is incredible and the racing is better than ever. I'm not saying I would be adverse to a 'classic GP Mode' but is that really what we all want? To go back to the exact same set-up of every other Mario Kart before it? I love Nintendo for doing things differently and this is no exception.

Re: Talking Point: How Are You Finding Mario Kart's Open World?

Ooccoo_Jr

Anyone not enjoying free roam really isn't trying hard enough. Yes the rewards are lacklustre but platforming your way to hard to reach places is so much fun and some of the p switches are super challenging and rewarding. If you want to race there are plenty other modes for you but I am having so much fun just driving around seeking out those pesky collectables.

Re: Capcom Is Recording Switch 2 Game-Key Card Purchases As "Digital Sales"

Ooccoo_Jr

@Duncanballs I prefer physical absolutely but I can see which way the wind is turning and if game key cards are the price we pay for a compromise then so be it. I do hope however that they don't take over as the primary method for physical carts, but they make sense as an option for a developer that has to pay for expensive large capacity carts in order to include their base game, which will invariably require a further download anyway. I completely get that it sucks for Collectors, but for 99% of us it is unlikely to ever be a problem.

Re: Capcom Is Recording Switch 2 Game-Key Card Purchases As "Digital Sales"

Ooccoo_Jr

@Zuljaras So what is the negative for me as a consumer? I get a cheaper way of playing the exact same game as if I had just bought it on the eshop and I can recoup more costs by selling it at the end. So what do I lose? A slight inconvenience by having to manage my storage space and potential cost if I choose to buy an SD card, otherwise I do not see the problem.

Re: Capcom Is Recording Switch 2 Game-Key Card Purchases As "Digital Sales"

Ooccoo_Jr

I cannot figure out why people are so upset about this. With game key cards I can buy it from whichever shop I want so I can shop around for the best deal and then when I am finished I can sell it on or trade it in. What's the problem? The only negative is I have to download the game first but that's true of any game that comes with any sort of a post-release patch (eg all of them).

Re: UK Charts: Nintendo Switch 2 Annihilates The Competition In Its Debut Week

Ooccoo_Jr

@Khwarezm89 Of course they don't, because it makes absolutely no difference to how they play the game. With game key cards you can buy them from a shop (so potentially cheaper) and you can sell them on when you are done (like any cart). The only scenarios where they are a problem are for people without internet (practically no one) or a potential scenario 30 years in the future if you decide to boot it up and Nintendo have turned off the server.

The whole thing is a storm in a teacup.

Re: Mario Kart World Players Are Already Uncovering Hidden Vehicles

Ooccoo_Jr

I was initially concerned that when Nintendo announced you could free-roam anywhere that there wouldn't actually be anything to do in the world as It didn't look like it was populated with any events or NPCs or collectables. They are really pushing this Mario Kart Direct though so I am hopeful they have some exciting stuff to announce on this front. Story Mode perhaps?

Re: The Switch 2 Scalpers Are Already Out In Force

Ooccoo_Jr

@xenobladexfan Yeah I've always known I was going to get the new console so was well prepared. I actually think £430 for the Mario Kart bundle is really good value, especially as the Switch 2 seems more powerful than I was expecting.

Re: The Switch 2 Scalpers Are Already Out In Force

Ooccoo_Jr

@GrailUK I know how you feel but I think you should be pretty safe because I ordered at Argos a few days ago, they then sold out and stopped taking orders so the fact that they have opened them up again today hopefully means that they have received extra stock to sell.
