As a consumer I personally enjoy E3 and the slew of new announcements it brings. It's a matter of whether things stack up commercially for the companies involved though. Companies in other industries seem to be questioning the value of events that were once considered mandatory. I've worked in photography for years, and the bi-annual Photokina show was once absolutely essential. This year key brands like Nikon, Leica and Olympus are all staying away. Companies are simply questioning the return on investment that they get from these big events. Are people going to buy more PS5s if Sony attend E3? Probably not. Nintendo have shown that you can create just as much media attention and excitement from the fans with a YouTube video.

The fact that it's a Mario game that's been under £15 in several sales, has surely helped.

Already purchased Dead Cells and Unravel 2. Tempted to go back for Dragon Ball Z Fighterz Edition. I've never really watched much Dragon Ball, but the game looks great.

I'm playing local multi-player with my two sons at the moment. The camera is still horrific at times. They're having a good time though...

That's a very articulate response from Feral. When I've finished DQ11 (probably in the new year now) I plan to treat myself to Alien: Isolation. I'm a big fan of their work on the GRID port.

So it didn't go well for Labo, but trying new things and being creative is what makes Nintendo special. I managed to pick up a couple of sets cheap for Christmas, and I'm sure that we'll have a lot of fun with them!

If it wasn't Christmas I'd probably pick up the new Yooka Laylee game. Maybe someone will buy it for me!

Gaming is a business, pure and simple. They clearly haven't sold many copies on Switch, they're unlikely to sell many more and developing new content for the platform is expensive.

Ha ha, much like WiltonRoots above, I added this to my collection as soon as it came out, but have been playing DQXI solidly for weeks.

Pewdiepie started playing Minecraft part way through the year and my twelve year old son and all of his mates dropped Fortnite and went back to Minecraft almost overnight. He's started playing Fortnite a little bit now the Chapter 2 thing has started, but it's definitely starting to lose it's shine for him. Pewdiepie seems to be playing Terraria now...

It's definitely something I want to play, but I've got too much stuff to be getting on with at the moment. I'll get round to it though.

Clicked to download the free DLC, bought the paid Summer Vibes DLC too (it was only a couple of quid). Haven't played the free DLC, but Summer Vibes is fantastic!

Nintendo also uses "no plans" and "nothing to anounnce" as a way of deflecting enquiries. It seems to be code for "we're working on it, but I don't have permission to talk about it".

Myself and my two eldest boys have both played a good few hours on Pokemon Sword. We've not had any issues. We're all enjoying the game. I think the majority of players who don't read all this crap on the internet are probably doing exactly the same.

Not particularly special deals - unless they plan to discount them further for Black Friday (which I hope is the case). Affiliate links help keep this website free though - and it's staff paid. I presume people would rather complain about affiliate links than complain about a subscription pricing model.

Maybe if Team Ninja were as proud of the camera in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 it would have been a better game.

@somebread I was going to say the same thing - they sort of missed an opportunity there didn't they! Apparently the same devs are working on a new Christmas Wonderland game for release in early 2020...

@gergelyv @RadiantDuck I've seen nothing official, but the word from Nintendo fans that I've read on here and other forums is that they are indeed repairing them for free in the UK.

It might be that one of your artists or freelancers COPIED a game that they liked, more like. Still it reminds me what a beautiful experience playing GRIS was, and as it's probably getting on for a year since I completed it, time to play it again.

I'm loving Luigi and it's totally captivated my kids. I was helping my seven year old play earlier today, and I found myself getting a bit twitchy when he didn't pick everything up, or search everywhere! I'm like, "What was that over there? Maybe if you... or you could just ignore it and move on... that's OK... we can do that" <bites fist>. It's an easy nine for me. It's classic Nintendo.

Already played Luigi's Mansion with my 7 year old earlier. It's an absolutely gorgeous game - just what I want when I buy a Nintendo product.

@Kilroy fascinating, I'd not noticed that before. I was referring to the screenshot of Tom and Elenna "Fetching stolen cookies". The shadows are so bad, it makes them look like they're floating.

I presume they're not supposed to be levitating in that first screen shot.

Shopto and Game in the UK are giving away a steelbook and a code for an in-game tracksuit outfit - and they have been since they started taking pre-orders for the games. In other news: I did just get a Gamesradar Presents The Ulimate Guide to Nintendo in the post from the Official UK Store which also includes 10% off my next order.

Much like Austin, I've been playing Smash and Mario Kart with the family. If I get a chance to play something by myself it'll be Dragon Quest XI all the way.

The eyes and eyebrows are all wrong, and that's just for starters.

I completed the game in about 20 hours. I'd agree that it doesn't have a great deal of replay value, but as I bought it for £40 and traded it for £36 the whole experience really only cost me £4.

I am so excited to start playing this on Switch, I've already got the cart, but I'm just finishing off a couple of other games first... I'm not going to be able to get that Batman thing out of my mind now though.

Wii U had some of my favourite Nintendo Exclusives of any generation. MK8, Mario Maker, Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong TF, Super Mario 3D World, Windwaker HD, Yoshi, Captain Toad, Splatoon, Wonderful 101... I had such a good time with that console.

I finished Link's Awakening earlier in the week (loved it) and I'm not sure what to start next. I've already played Smash, Mario Kart and Let's Go Eevee with the kids this morning, I might start Dragon Quest XI if I get any time to myself later.

I don't tend to give the eshop a great deal of thought. I research / discover games on sites like this, Reddit or Youtube and then just go straight to the game I want to buy. Quite often I purchase on the Nintendo website and it downloads to my Switch automatically without ever visiting the eshop on the console itself.

I finished off a month of excessive spending on video games with an eleventh hour purchase of Cuphead. I don't know when I'm going to get round to playing them all... but I'm glad I've got them.

Similar things happened on Vita with Final Fantasy X/X-2. It's not an ideal situation but I understand the economics of it. If it's a decent port I'm still prepared to buy it.

I played it a couple of times and I've still got it installed, but when I can play MK8 Deluxe on my Switch it's not of that much interest to me. I do see friends that don't have Nintendo consoles playing it though, also a friend at work said something like "Oh is that back in again (!) my two are playing it all the time".

A few issues with the also rans, but I broadly agree with most of the top 10. I’d put Fire Emblem the other side of Super Mario Maker 2, but I’m really not a fan of the Mario Maker games. Looking forward to Dragon Quest XI as it’s my next big adventure on Switch. I’ve got the cart in my case already, and I’m moving onto it as soon as I’ve completed Link’s Awakening. If it belongs in the company of Astral Chain and Three Houses, I’m in for a treat.
