It's been yet another crazy week in the Nintendosphere, this time full of Pokémon news from every direction and even a new Metroid rumour to be sceptical of.
Now, though, it's finally time to sit back and relax. Team Nintendo Life have discussed our weekend gaming plans below and we'd love for you to join in via the comments and poll sections below.

It’s become increasingly difficult to get a moment with my Switch as my son has developed a chronic Pokémon Sword addiction over the past week or so – note to Santa, one Switch Lite please – but when I do get my hands on it over this coming weekend I’ll be settling into some good old terrifying myself with Alien Isolation.
I’ve just finished up the main campaign for review but still have all the DLC to blast through which should keep me more than busy/scared witless. Otherwise, I’m still making my way through Astral Chain, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and mopping up bits and pieces in the sublime The Touryst. Have a good weekend, pals!

Any free time I get this weekend will go towards working on my Pokédex in Pokémon Sword. I've beaten the Champion and made it through the scenes which follow, so the next goal is to search far and wide for as many different critters as I can, hopefully one day getting every single one (depending on how long I stay interested).
To be fair, I've really really enjoyed my time with the game so far. I'd actually say that this is the most fun I've had with the series since at least Generation 6 or 5, perhaps even 4. Now, then, how to convince one of my Pokémon Shield playing friends to let me keep their Zamazenta?

This weekend I'll be plugging away at Pokémon Shield. The game hasn't quite clicked for me yet (then again, I've struggled with the series since the debut of Diamond and Pearl on the DS), but I really appreciate the quality of life improvements like minimised random encounters. I've only conquered two gyms so far, so I'm hopeful it will pick up soon!
I've not got much else on the go as far as gaming goes, but I'll certainly be keeping a close eye on the Black Friday deals over the weekend and see if anything catches my attention. Although at some point, I need to put aside three and a half hours to watch Martin Scorsese's new film The Irishman!

I’ll be heading back to Galar this weekend. I’m really enjoying making my way from town to town. It’s been a long time since I’ve played a Pokémon (the original, actually) and it’s a treat to see how much (and sometimes how little) has changed over the last two decades. I can imagine series stalwarts being a little frustrated at the lack of advancement after this many entries. For me, though, it’s like a warm blanket. Lovely.
I also picked up Starlink: Battle for Atlas starter pack for a mere 10€, so perhaps I’ll get around to hopping in an Arwing, too. Probably not, though.

By the time you read this, my new music album has been released! You know what that means? I am (at long, long last!) free to play video games for the rest of my life! This weekend? Valfaris, Children of Morta, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, The Touryst, Story of a Gladiator, River City Girls, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle (there is a literal tank among the new characters!) and who knows, maybe I will finish either Astral Chain or DAEMON X MACHINA (now with a brand new boss!).
My game of the week is the surprise release of Trover Saves The Universe. Who knew that even without VR, the unmistakable humour of “Rick and Morty” co-creator Justin Roiland would work so well on the Switch?

Some of you have already had to listen to me talk about this far too much - but I don’t care. For the past couple of mornings, I have had an adorable, sweet owl hooting outside of my bedroom window. I have appropriately named it Rowlet, based on the fact that I wish Pokémon were real. This is my very poor segway into the fact that I’m literally just going to be playing Pokémon Shield this entire extended Thanksgiving weekend. And I believe that is the same thing I’ve written for the past three weekend entries.
As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave a vote in the poll above and a comment below with your gaming choices over the next few days...

I played Pokemon Sword & Animal Crossing New Leaf (3DS) this weekend. 😀
I have obtained 6th Badge from Gym Leader Gordie. I have won Link Battle (Single and Double) with my student. 😁
I played again Animal Crossing New Leaf after very long hiatus and all my villagers in Neptune town still safe. I tried to get Dragon Jacket from Gracie by Time Travelling since i have lost that jacket long time ago.
Some Starlink Battle For Atlas for me... It's great to just fly between the planets doing odd missions for an hour or so. Really worth picking up if you haven't already. After, maybe some more Daemon X Machina if I have any time.
Pokemon Shield and Ultra Sun for me. Near the end of both so might even finish them off this weekend. After that I have Pokemon X lined up and Persona 4 Golden.
still playing dq11 and luigis mansion 3
..and I m not sure what to pick up next
....maybe the switcher...or astral chain....or..?
Some River City Girls and I need to continue with Astral Chain I haven't played it in a while now. Pocket stables is also a fun little game.
Pokémon Shield addiction put down for the time being, main quest and post-game done with around 230 monsters imprisoned for eternity (I wonder if it starts to smell in there after a while?).
Finished Link's Awakening last night which was very enjoyable, back to some Splatoon 2 I think...
I beat the Circhester Gym last night. Gonna be busy grind EV's and Raiding.
Pokemon, still farming Gmax pokemon and once i get them I'm done for a bit.
In case anyonr’s been keeping track: I DID IT! After 2 years and 9 months, and 206+ hours of game time, I found all the Korok Seeds and am finally done with Breath of the Wild (at least until I decide to try Master difficulty).
And my right hand Joy-Con came home yesterday, so...
This week I will be mostly playing:
Smash Ultimate
Resident Evil 0
Pokémon Diamond / Pearl / Platinum
Probably some Jedi Fallen Order or Need for Speed: Heat.
Pokemon Sword was enjoyable enough but don't know if I want to bother with post game stuff currently.
Shield!
Also picked up Grid, wow! Just started it, but it is so fine!
Happy gaming everyone!
@gaga64 Congratulations! What a cool achievement!
WarioWare Gold, Pokémon White, Smash Ultimate if my friends are willing, and probably Wolfenstein II.
Persona 3 portable for me.
Bosses are starting to need a bit of strategy and Shinjiro has just joined the SEES.
I've also been playing a little Taiko No Tatsujin on Switch.
Fantasy Strike, Starlink and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Bought Shakedown Hawaii on Switch yesterday in the sale and loving it, and Mk7 on 3ds.
Been playing AC: Odyssey since the end of September. 165 hours now. Main game finished. Starting on chapter 3 of the Legacy of the First Blade DLC. I love this game!
I won’t have that much time to game this weekend since I’m in Italy visiting family, but whenever I manage to snuggle up with my Switch I’ll be playing a bit of Shield (I beat the game and captured the legendaries, so I’m now working on the slow burn of completing the Pokedex) and Luigi’s Mansion 3 (only 4 floors left!).
Finally get back on to Luigi's Mansion 3 after a couple of weeks break from gaming...it's nice to take a breather, especially after playing a big JRPG like DQXI S for about a month.
@gaga64 Well done on completing BOTW, I never got around to finding all of the korok seeds. I have kind of accepted that I'll never find them all without using some kind of map for guidance. Alot of them just really hard to find.
@Vriess I really need to pick this up again, it feels like a year since I last played it. I even bought the book for some tips, the game is so deep with content.
Coming to the end of my second playthrough of Dark Souls Remastered. Might try something from my backlog, Bastion just didn't click for me but I'm going to give Transistor a good try next.
I thought I'd be listing The Long Reach for this weekend, but it proved to be short (and enticing) enough that I wolfed it all down yesterday. Feels comparable to Uncanny Valley but a lot less branched and more straightforward - probably to my liking at the end of the day. Despite my own share of interest in exploring multiple scenarios and endings, Uncanny Valley featured a dose of routine you had to repeat each cycle (including the prologue where I soon ran out of apparent things to tweak); between that and the comparatively subtle time limits for certain triggers, my intent to mop up all the endings admittedly deflated over time. The Long Reach is one smooth but challenging ride with an increasingly eerie story the advertised premise makes sure not to give out at once.
For the weekend, then? At least the part of it that's not booked by other chores and plans including the second trip to Arendelle and beyond? At least some of the usual suspects from the last few weeks plus more tinkering with Disgaea and Yu-Gi-Oh. The amount of things to do in the former is especially overwhelming - and there are already FIVE of these games!
I’ll be trying out the new Civ6 expansion packs. Also started Ni No Kuni. Plus, still got Divinity 2 to keep me going...
Pokewhat? Tried it for a little while but don’t think it’s a game for me.
I may have to go somewhere today, so currently planning to bring my GBA SP with me to play some Sonic Battle. I'm up early, so I may play some Sonic Mega Collection before I get going. Was playing it earlier in the week and I want to play it again.
I am starting Resident Evil 2 Remake. It is so good!
Too busy with charity streams to play much else, but during my down time I'll be continuing Shield version. Trying to find a good Fairy counter for the fifth gym
Really got back into Wargroove last few days, the custom content adds so much life to the game!
I'm absolutely flooded with game options thanks to the eshop cyber sale this weekend. I picked up Rogue Legacy, Full Metal Furies, Heave Ho, Unravel 2, Killer Queen Black and Super Bomberman R for a total for $60 CAN (plus any gold coins I earned).
My wife and I started Heave Ho and Unravel 2 last night, in which we didnt realize until later that they're both games about staying connected to each other. Heave Ho is frustrating, but hilarious party game insanity. Unravel 2 is adorable and clever, but the swinging mechanics have us a little stumped at times.
I started the original Yooka Laylee this morning as I need a more chill experience than The Impossible Lair this Christmas season. I also finished Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger IX this week, and I think that Copen is more fun to use than any Mega Man-esque character I've ever played as. A short, but incredibly fun and solid game!
I got around to beating Luminous Avenger iX this week now that I've got the two main entries out of the way. While it was quite short even with the special missions, the gameplay was just so much fun that I'm still fighting the urge to replay it all over again. Granted, the game doesn't technically do anything the second game didn't do and outright removed a bunch of systems in the name of streamlining the experience, but the more cramped level design that makes refilling the bullit gauge without stopping to use the manual reload nearly effortless combined with the really clever and risky new Devil Trigger-esque mechanic really does make a significant difference. Not having a second playable character does feel like a pretty big step down, though. Sure, it allowed the stages and bosses to be more focused around Copen's abilities, but I still enjoyed having the option of playing as someone else. Eh, maybe we'll get a sequel in the future with Blade as the Gunvolt replacement.
Oh, and I also played through the original Mighty Gunvolt on my 3DS. Not a bad waste of a few minutes, I suppose.
I also took advantage of all of the sales going around to upgrade my untouched digital copy of Mighty Gunvolt Burst from the 3DS version to the Switch one and started playing that. I was thinking of picking up the PC port, but given the rather sorry state of that version, I figured supporting the version of the game that actually works as intended was the better move even though the issues are largely localized to AMD users (which I am not). The special weapon creation mechanic really caught me off guard by how customizable it is and the tight difficulty level really puts the game Burst was supposed to advertise to shame. Looking forward to continuing my playthrough later today.
Minecraft: Story Mode (Windows Store) - Starting Episode 1 this weekend.
FIFA 15 Ultimate Team (Windows Phone) - I've now beaten all teams so I think I'm all done with this.
3D Brick Breaker Revolution (Windows Phone) - About halfway through this game now.
Just bought a bunch of games from the e-shop (YS VIII, Vesperia, Snipperclips, Yu-Gi-Oh!) and might start one of them later today. Might also go for Fallen Order on XBX or Disco Elysium on PC.
Too many choices frankly ..
I also have LM3 to get to Oo
@Zuljaras RER2 was amazing imho. I've only done a Leon playthrough sofar and I'm definitely looking forward to doing one with Claire in the near future.
Also, I felt the HDR was actually pretty darn good with this one, if properly calibrated. The calibration tool itself is ... not great though. Still, if done right, it looked absolutely arresting!
Pokémon Sword and Ni No Kuni. Also got hold of Sushi Striker for 3DS very cheap, so that too!
For me its Spiderman on the PS4 and Link's Awakening on the Switch. Absolutely loving both games.
@dugan @PhatToad cheers. I’ll admit I did have a little help with finding them all. There’s definitely too many, a lot amount to padding.
I also hunted all the Talluses, Hinox and Moldugas to get the respective medals. Seems odd that Lynels weren’t included in that challenge too (though I’m glad they weren’t)
Working my way through Spirit Hunter: NG at the moment and sneaking in some Risk of Rain 2 in between sessions and 'just a few songs' in Groove Coaster (aka around 2-3 hours) before bed.
I finally bought Valkyrie Chronicle 4 since it was on sale for $20 yesterday. Started playing last night.
Asphalt 9 early and often. Viva Team Siege Engine!
Probably just Pokemon Sword this weekend, I've been trying to get a G-max Butterfree but it keeps escaping.
@PhatToad
I wouldn't call the game very deep. It's just a massive amount of content for it's price. The mission structure (especially the smaller mission) are very repetitive, but I don't mind the grind. I find the the gameplay loop really satisfying. I don't even fast travel that much either. I like to take my time as this game helps me unwind.
Pokémon for the foreseeable future. Need to get my head around breeding again after skipping it for S&M.
Anyone know a good guide for leveling mon for competitive VGC?
Pokémon and Lego Harry Potter. I’m kinda underwhelmed by Pokémon but still enjoy the raids.
It's a totally original choice, I know, but I'll be playing Pokemon Shield. I kind of abandoned it for a week and played other stuff.
Mario. At 865 moons
Still working my way through DQ XI. I’m determined to finish it before I start Pokémon.
I’m on Route 1 trying to find a Caterpie in Sword. Then I can continue to use Meowth, smacking innocent creatures for money.
Also, Asphalt 9 this evening. Go team Siege Engine!!
I actually got shield back to trade with a friend and have played it thru till the end. I did have a good enough time with it, so many interesting new moms to catch. I’m just trying to fill out my dec now and over on Xbox I may get oddysey and try that one out.
After trying to get into astral chain, bayonetta 2, fire emblem 3h several times and failing to keep me interested. I have come to the conclusion that those types of games are not for me (anybody else feel like that?). Traded those in for Zelda LA and Mario u deluxe as they seem to be more my type. So I'll be playing those abd yooka Layla this weekend! Have a great weekend all
Deep into Shield postgame - developing high IV pokes and trying new teams. An excellent game I've really enjoyed. Almost100 hours in just over a week!
Hunting for HAs and breeding in Pokemon Sword. I also picked up a bunch of games during the eshop sale so I may dabble into some nostalgic Street Fighter action.
I bought Elite Dangerous, Star Trek Bridge Crew and Batman Arkham VR for $30 on Steam. I can't actually play any of them though as I dont have my new PC yet.
Instead I'll be playing Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds on my old PC and continuing to try and unlock Thanos in MUA3.
@ViewtifulJotun what build? I did dex/ faith a while ago, but feeling like playing through as a sorcerer next.
I'll be playing Rocket League when I fail to make a decision of what story based game to play.
I went what i would call pretty crazy on the eshop for the cyber sale. Grabbed DMC1, South Park Stick of Truth, Gato Roboto, and physically I grabbed assassins creed 3 yesterday. So as of right now, I'm playing thru DMC1 and gato roboto. Once I'm finished with DMC I'll crack open AC3. Might do liberation though first since i played 3 years and years ago. Might get back to my campaign of Sword with my daughter too.
I'm really hoping I can resist the urge to buy anything else this weekend or Monday 😩
My eye is aching today so am resting possibly retiring , maybe it’s time to pass to a new generation. I can’t see any developer making better games than super Mario world, 64, streets of rage 2. Super Metroid, Oot . These just can’t be beat. Maybe time to find a new hobby involving people and the world. The magic of those will always stay with me. Xxx and outrun as well I forgot. Xx
DQXIS continuing from where I got to when the demo ended. Also more XB1 stuff, hopefully the MCC update on Tuesday when Halo Reach comes works properly as currently it still takes like 30 mins to load a campaign mission.
Mario Kart DS
I dug out my old DSi XL ( green) and im playing some old DS games
mostly Mario Kart DS . Hotel Dusk and Lego games
Target put up a deal on the Online, so I'll be revisiting some SNES games.
But my PowerUp Pro membership expires today. So, without a Direct saying anything about Delfino Isle in SMO or Extra Modes in SMM2, better to get 10% on $30 than 50% on $15 (or whatever that math will come out to).
Picked up Gato Roboto and Castlevania collection on sale and have spent some time on those already. A little Asphalt and maybe some neo geo games. It’s tree day at our house Today so we’ll see how much I can actually play haha.
Continuing with The Last of Us on PS4, and trying to get the Resi spirits on Smash Ultimate. Also been revisiting the Harry Potter films recently, just got one left, so in the mood for a bit of Lego Harry Potter.
Crash n sane trilogy. Played Pokémon shield for 3 hours just couldn’t get into it
Finally bought Hollow Knight! It’s such a lovely game and I’m looking forward to seeing what all of the fuss is about.
@McDanger trying to be a pure intelligence build as much as possible, but I am finding the later bosses much more tricky
I'll be playing Overwatch. Pokemon is great during the long que times! A perfect mixture.
Picked Trover, it was like U$2.50 in Mexico eShop, so I'm looking foward to trying this one
Also, picked up Bomberman on sale, so I randomly play it now
I'll only buy Pokémon when there is less college stuff to do... Got way too many spoilers though, but I still didn't fully see my future starter third evolution
Dragon Quest 11. I've still got a long way to go!
Think I'll play some Super Mario Maker 2 this weekend. Wanna put more time into Xenoblade Chronicles X so I'll be playing that, too. Still need to finish the Dragon Quest XI demo, as well!
Done with Shield post-game story content and caught 325 pokemon. Just not in the mood to raid or wander aimlessly or look up how to make pokemon babies. Got an Xbox One X for black friday that came with game pass and ea access pass, and gold so have to make the most of that 30 days of access to all the things. Played through all of Afterparty last night, pretty funny.
I am playing Gris and Earthfall. Both are on sale right now. Earthfall is definitely worth the $19.99, but at $9.99 people are getting a deal.
I was playing Luigi’s Mansion for the last week pretty solid, but then I got to the 9th floor and began to worry I was rushing through the game too fast! So I picked up the 8-bit Bloodstained, which was brilliant, but that too only took a night to finish!
@ViewtifulJotun ahh cool, i'll keep that in mind for my next run!
Another weekend dedicated to playing some Pokemon Shield. I know there were a lot of complaints about these games, but man I'm loving what I've played of Gen 8 so far. I'm super glad I went with Grookey as my starter, cause I'm digging Rillaboom, same with Boltund, Drednaw, and Thievul as well (my fave Gen 8 Pokemon). Outside of Pokemon, I'll probably play a few rounds of either Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, or Mario Kart 8.
Pokémon Shield this weekend. I don’t get a lot of gaming time, but what there is will be spent on this.
Shield and Sims 4. Yesterday I played Mario Kart 7 and Nintendogs + Cats in the car.
Persona 5 i'm up to Shido's Cruise god i hate this palace
Currently playing through Octopath Traveler, and My memory of Us on my Switch.
Also started Outer World's on my PS4.
It is going to be some Fortnite, Team Sonic Racing, and perhaps a little Super Mario Maker 2 for me!
I’m on the last chapter in A Plague Tale Innocence so I’m trying to finish that amazing game! So good!
I’m trying to avoid buying anything on the eshop since I’ve picked up Just Dance 2020 (Switch) and a few Xbox games during Black Friday ( Borderlands 3, RDR2, plus a few downloads)... but I’ve been playing the demo for Puzzle Quest and now that it’s on sale... Does it actually count as a purchase if I have the gold coins for it? I think not..
Astral Chain. I'm not gonna play anything else until I finish that one haha. The goal is to have it finished by Christmas.
Not Pokemon, that's for sure. Xenoblade 2, LM3, and Earthfall on Switch. Also playing Deus Ex Invisible War on pc.
It'll be Blaster Master 2 Zero, The First Tree, and probably Ghostbusters Remastered.
@gaga64 hey congrats! Did you use a guide, korok mask?
@Benjoo yeah there’s a brilliant free interactive map on the App Store called Breath Companion which ended up as a godsend. I do wish I’d had the tenacity to do it all entirely help-free, but I’d probably still be playing when I’m 90 on that basis
Oh Black Friday, I wish you didn't fall on the pay that goes to rent. At least it gives me a reason to chip away at the backlog. I say as I start a new Fire Emblem: Three Houses file on a higher difficulty.
looks at poll Man the pokemon swsh boycott went really well
