As had been previously promised, the second DLC pack for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is now available to download.
It arrives as part of the game's expansion pass - available to buy from the Switch eShop for $19.99 / £17.99 - and adds four more X-Men and an all-new Danger Room mode. Here's some more info from Nintendo's website:
DLC Pack 2 – X-Men: Rise of the Phoenix (December 23rd, 2019)
Dark Phoenix, the infinitely powerful cosmic entity from one of the X-Men's greatest sagas, unleashes an era of fiery destruction! Four more X-Men join the alliance – Phoenix, Gambit, Ice Man, and Cable – with the purchase of the MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order Expansion Pass.
Face-off against friends in the newly added Danger Room mode! Up to four players will compete to see who can take down the most bosses while being barraged by buffs and debuffs.
A third DLC pack has also been promised at some stage, although its release date and contents are currently unknown.

I find it weird that they promised story to the dlc but still haven’t delivered.
My theory is that since the dlc can’t be bought in single packs and only as a bundle they’ll add a new story chapter after the fantastic four dlc involving all 12 dlc characters and all characters added in updates.
@darkswabber
Yeah I agree. It’s a bit disappointing that the story mode promised for the dlc is a repetitive, text-based gauntlet.
I would be happy if they added new levels or enemies/characters in the future.
Overpriced and no story DLC to add insult to this price gouging
Maybe by next Christmas we'll get the Complete edition.
While I’m with you guys in being a bit disappointed on no story content and I to thought we’d be getting something, but I don’t think it’s overpriced for just the characters and scraps we get. If you look at the previous games dlc, it’s about the same. I would’ve loved more levels and rifts more than anything because I find this games levels to be a bit dull and I hate the platforming sections most of all but the characters and how they play are really fun.
I'm playing local multi-player with my two sons at the moment. The camera is still horrific at times. They're having a good time though...
Just checked and it's also already available in The Americas. Thanks for the news.
@darkswabber Wow, you're optimistic. I would be cool if you ended up being right, but I think the text-based story mode (i.e. Gauntlet) is all that we're getting. When I loaded up the game after the first DLC pack went live, I kept looking for the extra story mode. Boy, was I disappointed.
@darkswabber Dr. Doom, Dr. Doom, Dr. Doom.
I expect a marvelous story with him. Either that or bring OnSlaught to the mix. Or even Apocalypse.
I'm still stunned that this scored as highly as it did on the site. Its a repetitive button masher that really has nothing to bring to the table.
Looks like Gambit is added; time to buy it now!
I have the expansion pass so I guess I’ll check it out. It does need some new story content though.
@Eddster So then it's a Marvel Ultimate Alliance game then. Guessing you have never played the series or any of the other similar games like Xmen Legends. This is basically the evolution of the 2D brawler, like the Streets of Rage or Final Fight Series. It's good for what it is and never promised to be more than that
I wish I could return the DLC. They sold it to me on the lie of new story content
Ugh! With the vast array of X-Men characters at their disposal, they had to go and choose two of the worst examples of 90s darker and edgier drivel.
Well, at least we also got Phoenix and Ice Man, which is nice. If they don't screw up the Fantastic Four DLC, I'll probably get the expansion pack, to give the game another spin.
@Bizzyb I'd say its actually better than the previous two MUA games, but I basically agree with what you said.
It's funny, because I think that there are at least two branches that "grew" from the 2d brawler tree: the MUA/X-men Legends one and the DMC/Bayonetta one. The second one gave us better games with more engrossing gameplay, but the first one can still be very enjoyable when done right, as in MUA 3.
Come to think of it, maybe musou games could also be considered an evolution of 2d brawlers?
Welp time to buy the DLC!
