New listings on Nintendo of America's website have revealed the first three Five Nights at Freddy's games will receive individual releases on the Switch eShop on 29th November. Each game will be priced at $7.99.
This release takes place roughly a year after the creator Scott Cawthon announced his point-and-click-survival horror series would be coming to the Switch and multiple other platforms. As previously revealed, he's been working closely with the talented French software development company Clickteam to create these improved HD ports.
Here's the rundown of each one via Nintendo's website:
Five Nights at Freddy's
Welcome to your new summer job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where kids and parents alike come for entertainment and food as far as the eye can see! The main attraction is Freddy Fazbear, of course; and his two friends. They are animatronic robots, programmed to please the crowds! The robots' behavior has become somewhat unpredictable at night however, and it was much cheaper to hire you as a security guard than to find a repairman.Five Nights at Freddy's 2
In Five Nights at Freddy's 2, the old and aging animatronics are joined by a new cast of characters. They are kid-friendly, updated with the latest in facial recognition technology, tied into local criminal databases, and promise to put on a safe and entertaining show for kids and grown-ups alike! As the new security guard working nights, your job is to monitor cameras and make sure nothing goes wrong after-hours.Five Nights at Freddy's 3
Thirty years after Freddy Fazbear's Pizza closed it's doors, the events that took place there have become nothing more than a rumor and a childhood memory, but the owners of "Fazbear's Fright: The Horror Attraction" are determined to revive the legend and make the experience as authentic as possible for patrons, going to great lengths to find anything that might have survived decades of neglect and ruin. At first there were only empty shells, a hand, a hook, an old paper-plate doll, but then a remarkable discovery was made...The attraction now has one animatronic.
The FNaF games have become insanely popular with video game streamers since the first game's release in 2014. The series essentially plays on fears of worn out and murderous toys coming to life.
Will you be adding these three titles to your digital library on the Switch? Comment below.

Unpopular opinion: I enjoyed these games despite the rabid fandom. 2's my favorite, though I do not plan on double-dipping. I am curious as to why just the first three and not throw in 4 and/or sister location.
So this series is essentially Night Trap meets Chuck-e-Cheese, right?
@HobbitGamer That's not a completely inaccurate description.
Here b4
“Does this mean Freddy Fazbear is going to be in Smash Bros.?”
@Toy_Link That question doesn't need to be asked because the obvious answer is yes. Think of the wide variety of music tracks they could get from his inclusion!
This must be an indie-centric Black Friday coming up — Where the Water Tastes Like Wine comes out at the end of the month, too. https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/where-the-water-tastes-like-wine-switch/
Oh no... o_o;
I'm honestly curious if the game is even going to be playable without a mouse. You've gotta be really quick to make it through the later nights especially.
@MasterGraveheart There were mobile phone versions that were made slightly easier to compensate, so I imagine a similar job would be done here.
Ohhhh noooooo
The series the ruined Game Theory. No thanks.
Way overpriced. If it was 7.99 for all three I'd vote, but not per game.
o w o..i cannot wait for this game, but someone did make a point -h-how the heck are you supposed to quickly touch everything o _ o;; i'm afraid now lol, although i believe they may make it touch screen capable?? or maybe a different way for it to work. And i'm sure it'll run well on the switch, the game is not that powerful.
@leathco honestly it's not -it's very cheap, sooo i don't know how 24$ and something change, i-is pricey for all 3 games lol
this was something i was expecting during the wii u era! cool to see them make their way to a nintendo console now
@MidnightLaces having owned them on Steam, I can definitely tell you they are overpriced. First of all, the original game runs 5 bucks each on Steam, and the others are frequently on sale for half off or better. Secondly, the games are a one trick pony as far as gameplay goes.
Not a fan of the games (even owning all of them) but the lore behind them is fantastic. Can't wait for the movie!
Is this the one the 10 years olds watch markiplier get startled by?
@leathco I agree that the first game is overpriced, but that's as far as I'll go. The other two are the exact same price as they are on other platforms, the fact that Steam is far more generous with sales is irrelevant for base price.
...Yeah I just saw, no idea if I'll play them. I played the demo of the first game and I don't take horror well, so I was trembling and shaking the entire time even though I never died. lol
Oh yeah, I messed around Ultimate Custom Night as well, I wonder if the other games will show up at some point.
After seeing Undertale get released, I was expecting this crap to show up sooner or later as well.
I’ve been waiting for this, I just knew it would come someday to Switch!!
Hard pass. I have zero interest in this series.
But if it's what you like, by all means, have fun.
about a month late, innit?
@somebread I was going to say the same thing - they sort of missed an opportunity there didn't they! Apparently the same devs are working on a new Christmas Wonderland game for release in early 2020...
I was so disappointed when I played this game, little did I realise the scary hype was mainly populated by pre pubescent kids with their first taste of horror. The 25yr old me was not impressed.
@Maulbert Game Theory was awful long before Freddy Fazbear came to town. remember the boobs episode? the "Mario is a sociopath" two-parter? the Dig Dug video where he put inflation porn in the thumbnail? (not that there's anything wrong with inflation porn, but still a pretty weird choice for a thumbnail) the "Sonic isn't fast" episode? the "Dr. Wily is innocent" episode? the Comic Con 2014 video with the transphobic thumbnail? I can go on and on and on.
@Deathwalka I found the horror of FNAF to be the suspense and complete lack of control. The games being more of a resource management games where you are forced to focus on other tasks makes it an intense experience. Especially the 4th game which heavily focuses on sound, so you have to listen very closely at the risk of a loud jumpscare.
@Noid Yea I have no idea why people pretend there was a golden age of Game theory before FNAF. Hell FNAF was one of the best things to happen to game theory as all they are doing is trying to piece together Scott Cawthons story. Unlike the "original" theories like you mentioned.
@AnnoyingFrenzy I think its with how the games are set up lore-wise. FNAF 1-3 are tied together under a loose connection of the lore. FNAF 4 was the beginning of a branching story that went on through Ultimate Custom Night. FNAF VR may connect to 4 as well since the FNAF 4 house is heavily present in the latest DLC. FNAF 4-current games are tied to the bite of 83. Although the next manline FNAF game may finally go back to the bite of 87, as it has an 80's esthetic, and its been since FNAF 3 where the bite of 87 was mentioned.
Nightmare Bonnie: W H A T S T H E W I F I P A S S W O R D?
Oh no, it's Edgy meme: the game!
Played the first one and didn’t really find it very scary. The gameplay is bland as well. Close this door, don’t close that one... not a very compelling set of interactions.
I’d get them if they were released in a trilogy of all three games but I can’t see me buying them at $7.99 (more in Canada) each.
Never played these. Did get the PSVR game though and its terrifying. Defo give these a try.
@HobbitGamer
kinda.
It's ok. It's spooky enough.
@somebread I was about to say that releasing the games now instead of October feels like a missed opportunity, despite being $8 per game.
Love the games, hate the fan base.
why only the first 3 games..?
@leathco Stingy much?
@Optimusultimus That’s what I was wondering too. Why not 4 and Sister Location as well?
I personally won’t be getting these as I don’t like jumpscare games that much, plus I’m only really interested in the characters anyways, but this is still great for anyone who wants a mobile version on par with the original PC version.
I still think FNAF World would be a nice little freebie.
Sold. Was wondering if this one would make it!
@patbacknitro18 Unpopular Opinion: Game Theory's FNAF videos were some of their better ones.
@OYUMN Piemations, good stuff
@NotTelevision As the games go on they do give you more to interact with. The second game doesn't have any doors, so it gives you a couple of new ways to defend yourself giving you more to do. And the 3rd game is a more complex game as the map in that game has multiple layers to observe, and you have to manage an operating system at the same time or else your character starts hallucinating.
@tobsesta99 @Optimusultimus I think its with how the games are set up lore-wise. FNAF 1-3 are tied together under a loose connection of the lore. @leathco i seriously think you're trolling me right now. i cannot take your comment serious dude, because if you're being serious than yikes, cause this is better than paying 60$ dang dollars for disney tsum tsum -i even got the game early access, and it's not worth that amount of money plus the matter of other cruddy games costing more than this game itself -so i strongly believe that this is in fact a better deal than what we are getting now, and i will be content with this plus grateful that it's not overpriced like the rest of the ports -are getting, some.
Not targeting Halloween for launch seems like a missed opportunity.
@patbacknitro18
Are the games coming to the Switch the same as the one on VR?
The kids seem to love this stuff and they say they want the VR game, but from experience I know that VR greatly heightens the scare factor, so perhaps the games on the Switch might be better suited for them.
@CaPPa I doubt the VR game is coming to Switch, unless Nintendo decides to give us Labo VR Pro or something.
@Joeynator3000
No the VR games not coming to the Switch but it is coming for the Quest. Is the Switch game the same though (just not in VR)?
@CaPPa FNAF VR (Or FNAF: Help Wanted as its official title) is its own FNAF game, but its not coming to the Switch. If they haven't played any of the FNAF games the I would suggest getting them these. I assume that they just want FNAF VR right now because its what's popular on Youtube right now, especially after its recent Halloween update.
@Joeynator3000 Funny you mention that. A few months back Nintendo put in a patent for a VR like device for the Switch. So that might be a possibility.
@Toy_Link You know, I'm not gonna lie. The other day I thought of FNAF and wanted Freddy to be in Smash Bros. that would be so awesome!
@patbacknitro18 It would be awesome, then again the devs said they had no plans to update Thumper on Switch to use Labo VR. I'd get it just for that, dunno what other games I have that would use it. >.<
Wow scott is now going to team up with switch gg life
@ShinyUmbreon BTW nice Profile Pic Umbreon is one of my absolute faves.
@Reigestugatensho Why thank you same goes to you..
@patbacknitro18
Great, if they are different games then I'll get them both.
@Joeynator3000
Thumper has been on my wishlist for ages and I've almost picked it up a couple of times when it's been on the eShop for $15. Would it be worth spending an extra $5 or $10 more for a VR version though?
@CaPPa I never played a VR version, but people keep saying Playstation VR's version is the best, so...
shrugs, lol
