I've just started playing Skyrim on Switch (about 30 hours in) and although it's possibly a case of not missing what you've never had, I'm not at all bothered about mods. I've actually got a couple of the guys in the office playing Skyrim again - on a variety of different platforms and we're all helping each other out. One guy said that he was going to start over again, because he had gone in too hard with the mods and his character was ridiculously over powered and it was ruining the game.
To be honest most people outside of the core fanbase (that read websites like NL) are not going to have any visibility of this update until much closer to the time - so I can't see it affecting sales in the short term. I would argue that the underwhelming release schedule for the first part of 2018 is behind the slow down in hardware sales, rather than any apathy towards the hardware itself.
I had to set up a new epic account when I started playing on Switch. Now I can't unlink my old account from PSN to allow my newer account to connect. It says "Due to technical limitations with our backend, we are temporarily suspending PlayStation Network account unlinking. We hope to restore the functionality in November.".
It’s not a game i’m interested in, but it clearly relies heavily on detached joy con functionality - hence no Pro Controller or Handheld support. You can play it Tabletop with detached joy cons, where’s the story again?
@Spudworthy It might work for some people, but ironically I think the family plan is actually punishing families the most - where a typical family has more than one family member sharing a single console. They've even ditched the more affordable single month or three month payment options for the family plan.
My primary issue is that membership is account based rather than console. I have three boys under 12 and we play mainly local multi-player on one Switch. Splatoon 2 is the only game that we really play online. I've not only got to start paying a subscription to keep on playing, I've got to pay extra so that my children can play under their own sub accounts. I think we'll all bundle on one account for now and see how it goes.
It sucks that if my 6 and 12 year old want to carry on playing Splatoon in the way they've become accustomed (on the same console) I'll have to fork out for a family membership. A family membership should be more than one console, not more than one account.
I never played Crash back in the day, but I've really enjoyed the trilogy - especially the first game. My 11 year old had a go and complained that it was too difficult and he didn't know what he was supposed to do. Kids today!
I struggled to find the appeal of MH3 Ultimate on Wii U. I tried the MHG Ultimate demo on the eshop and I think I'll give this one a miss. Maybe if we get that exclusive game that was rumoured to be coming to Switch, I'll give that a go.
I read the NintendoSwitch subreddit and there are too many cut and paste news stories taken from there. I read it and think, I'll see that on NL later. I'd like to see more developer interviews and original journalism - which you do very well. Some of the reviews lately have been a bit flakey. No in game screenshots, very little detail. I'd certainly like to see less of that. I like to see videos as part of the reviews too - actually within the review article - to see how the game looks in motion. Otherwise, I really like the site and I spend far too much time here. I understand that advertising is part of how things work. The site is not currently overloaded with adds. People complaining about advertising need a reality check. This is a free to visit site. How do you think people get paid? Keep up the good work!
It has that beautiful diorama feel to it, like you're looking into a magical miniature world... and that music! I'm really excited for this one. I only played the demo for a little while and then I stopped. I'd seen enough. I was sold!
I currently have no cracks. I picked mine up last July so it wasn’t from the launch batch. I also don’t get to play it for longer sessions - no more than 1-2 hours at a time - and mostly undocked. I wonder which is more significant? I’ve heard people talking about this for some time. It’s clearly an issue.
I've played a little bit of Inside on PS4 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've also played Limbo on Vita and that's great too. I'll definitely get Inside again on Switch, but maybe when it's a little cheaper. If it launched at the same price as Hollow Knight, it would have been a day one.
Investors aren't fans, they're just business people. Nintendo can say they're confident until they're blue in the face, but the fact is the investors aren't convinced and that's starting to show.
I really like the core game play. I'm playing through the Adventure mode at the moment and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I was initially very underwhelmed by its level of polish though. Some parts just seem rushed.
Mmn, "optimization was the top priority during development, and continues to be our focus." It's the apparent lack of optimisation that lead me to cancel my pre-order.
NieR Automata is absolutely fantastic. It might be an unpopular opinion to share on a Nintendo fan site, but for me NieR is in a different league to Bayonetta. I'd buy it again for Switch in a heartbeat. I have it on PS4 but I don't get much sofa time these days.

I know I'm one of the people that got it for free, but I'm really enjoying this game! It really doesn''t take itself very seriously. I found a lot of the jokes genuinely funny, with lots of pop culture references thrown in. The initial load time seems very long, but after that load times are fine.
