Virtua racing for £4 is a steal
Still don't own Celeste. For a little over a tenner, it seems too good to miss.
If anyone here does not own Hollow Knight £6.59 is such a steal it should be illegal. Download it now. Right now.
The moment the essentials are on sale and you can't buy anything on sale, 'cause you thought they were essential to buy and already bought them all.....
Bastion for only €2,49!
Thank you for putting (Europe) in the title.
How many of the 150 games are first party? Any? Any at all?
Not that they all need to be, but 1 would be nice, and I don't see 1 listed here.
Only 60+ days until Black Friday I suppose...
Grab Hollow Knight if you don't own it yet!!
If only the US got the same deal...
I have most of the games that I want already but there are a few smaller ones on my watch list that I'm relatively keen to pick up. Was planning to go and buy a bunch of eShop credit at 10% off tomorrow too so this seems like a good opportunity to grow my ridiculous backlog even further.
Welp, time to save my wallet again since I won’t be needing that one for a while...
And it's pay day tomorrow. Daddy smells prizes.
@The_Mysteron I bought it a week ago on sale and it's as fun and high quality as all the praise has said.
It's almost an insult that every single sale like this is for Europe only.
I'll be picking up Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice for sure!
@The_Mysteron @BarefootBowser @UmbreonsPapa Celeste is my favourite 2D platformer that I've ever played by quite a long way. Such an incredible experience from start to end.
Oh god my poor wallet... Between this, Jedi Outcast on Tuesday, Dragon Quest 1-3 & 11 tomorrow and the Oculus stuff from yesterday I'm pretty much done for.
A lot of interesting things, like Final Fantasy VII and the Konami Collections. Unfortunately, due to my insane backlog, I'll wait for a bigger discount for all of them. At this point in my life I won't take less than a 50%.
Tempted by Bastion - can anyone recommend?
Its nice to see a sale on the quality games, instead of the useual trash.
Recommendation = Golf Story
...Y'all gonna make me open up a European account now, aren't ya?
Fingers crossed they do this sale in the US.
@Ooccoo_Jr I was honestly turned off of the game by the lack of a map from the beginning then other games came out and I never went back to it, I will say it is a fun game though. The fact that you have to waste equipment slots for map tracking is also lame, still a good game though.
@The_Mysteron I nabbed it for $10 recently (Celeste), and... I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would! Granted, I think the GotY talk that went around about it was a bit much, but it's definitely one of the better indies on the eshop. Good writing, some fantastic level design, tight controls, and a lot of content.
They discounted the Konami collections 2x since they released in the UK but not the US... WHY Konami WHY?!!! Still waiting for a sale until I purchase these games... again... for like the 3rd time
Aw I want all the Final Fantasys! Too bad I don't have the time for them now...
Awesome! Lots to pick up here....Capcom, sega, Konami games.
Can't recommend Hollow Knight, Celeste and Dead Cells enough - excellent games
like others say hollow knight is a must buy, wizard of legend and enter the gungeon too imo but i'm familar with being disapointed with acclaimed games like celeste and hyperlight drifter, maybe dead cells when i got the feeling the enemies and weapons didn't make a difference(you just rush everything down) but that has to do with your mindset.
anyway hollow knight even at full price is probably THE game with the best value outside of user generated content/experiences.
@BenAV how do you get a discount on eshop credit?
I'm getting decision fatigue, there's so much to choose from. Might have another look later.
Frik...if a sale like this comes to the US I'm toast.
Hollow Knight wasn't on my radar at all, but after seeing all the recommendations in the comments, I think I'll give it a try. Also going in for Stardew Valley and Final Fantasy VII.
Hollow Knight and Inside, just buy them. Don't ponder, don't choose one or the other, just click 'Proceed to Purchase' and 'Confirm'. 2 all time classics.
That's a nice price for Final Fantasy X/X2. I don't have the space at the moment though, nor the time to play then though. So I think I'll wait till next time it goes on sale.
Time to make a European account, thank goodness the switch is region free
@Miyamotosan Hollow Knight is incredible but you need to stick with it, it's a huge game. It can be quite tough at the start but as the game opens up and you get to grips with it, it's so good to play. It just keeps getting better and better as you progress and even after the 80 odd hours it took me 110% it, I didn't want it to end. It's one of the best games I've ever played. I really can't wait for the sequel, Silksong.
I hate it that you can't buy a game with your Nintendo Account if you don't own a Switch, because i will buy one sometime, and I always miss those sales, and it would be nice to have some games with the new console day one.
Good deals. I was, however, disappointed in Dead Cells.
Don't sleep on Darkest Dungeon, people. I feel like it's constantly overlooked but it is massively entertaining, especially if you like some dark humor with your turn-based roguelite action.
Thank goodness it's payday tomorrow!!
Please try Hollow Knight it is an unbelievable game, it honestly just got better and better in my opinion, there is so much content, so much to do, I think it’s a masterpiece. Celeste is incredible too.
Does Hollow Knight get markedly better? I've played about 10-12 hours and still feel quite aimless in terms of where I'm supposed to be going.
Any tips, as it's one that's in my backlog that is love to pick up and fall in love with. Just not feeling it so far.
For those complaining that the good sales just happen in Europe, that couldn't be further from the truth. Remember xenoverse 2 dlc and NBA for 3$? We didn't get those here. And since the switch is region free buying full digital games from other regions is quite easy. Unlike the physical and limited run versions that only Japan and USA get, we can always import but then we have an extra tax or two
Haven't checked the whole lot yet, but FF IX is one I'll probably get.
Asterix and Obelix for me
bought Basion it is £2 and highly rated, doesn't really matter if i don't like it at that price!
@fuzzyspud Hollow Knight has to be in my top 3 favorite games of all time. Some tips id give you:
-Dont be afraid to use a guide once in a while, the game can get pretty tough however dont use it for everything, explore and discover by yourself
-Use your map and anything that looks suspicious go and explore it more likely than not theres something there
-Take your time with the game if you have to, its a big game, it took me 40-45hrs to complete it 110% and a months worth playing almost every day.
Ugh.
Nintendo of Europe always gets the best stuff now.
Yes, yes - I know that, prior to this decade, Europe and the UK got the shaft, while the U.S. got all the good stuff - games that never made it to Europe, special editions, and Nintendo Power.
Now, the situations are reversed:
The UK and Europe get awesome special editions with Steelbook cases (Metroid, Luigi's Mansion, Majora's Mask, and Link's Awakening, to name a few); special edition bonus physical items are better; they get better games discounts.
Ugh.
Nintendo of America needs to get their act together.
Been thinking of picking up FFIX for the last week since I have all the other numbered FF games released for the switch (not counting 15 as that is so different to the normal version on the other consoles and PC). Now that it is on sale I have no excuse to not pick it up now.
Excellent! Been waiting for Stardew Valley to be on sale for ages.
Unfortunately I'm one handed so twin stick games are beyond me. Do i need the right stick?
Will get Wargroove as can manage turn based ok...
Bastion for this price is insanely good!
Oh and second game from the developers, Transistor, is very low, too. Time to finally get it!
@fuzzyspud: Exploring is a big part of any Metroidvania. You are not supposed to know where to go.
Getting lost in a suddenly very hard section is part of its charm.
@Jashin missed that one thanks will pick that up for £3 wow! wish they would allow user reviews as these offers are so hard to navigate
@mjhopkins81 Gunvolt Chronicles will have a physical edition released in Japan and USA, if I want to get it I'll need to pay another 20euros. Tell me how is that fair? Both USA and Europe take the shaft in different ways, but looking at the physical games we missed here, compared to you, I wouldn't say USA is getting it much worse, all those limited run games are a good proof of that. If you want you can enjoy our digital deals at the same price, but we will always pay extra for limited run editions.
For those of us in NA, check the eShop folks, a similar sale is going on. These good sales happen in NA too, NL usually just posts the Euro eShop deals because that's where they're based.
@Tucker777 I have Bastion on ps4 and overall I quite enjoyed it. The narrator gives it some great atmosphere and while the combat can get a tad repetitive, the customisation options make up for that. The gameplay is fairly addictive and yes, personally, I would recommend it. Especially if it's going for a cheap price. I hope this helps you in making a decision ☺
@Ooccoo_Jr but its a terrible game that lacks a sense of direction
@Jashin yes and walking naked through the antartic desert is also charming and fun
@ancientlii A store here just has eShop cards on sale at the moment.
@Tucker777 Bastion is awesome. I had a ball playing it on my vita and I imagine it is even better on the switch. Transistor, by the same devs, is great too.
Will be picking up Slay the Spire, Collection of Mana, and Songbird Symphony from the US eShop. Though I wish this UK sale was happening in the US too, it's probably for the better that it isn't. If we had those games too, I'd probably also get What Remains of Edith Finch, Timespinner, Castlevania Anniversary Collection, Inside, and Limbo. That's way too much, haha.
@mjhopkins81 But you guys got the hylian shield 2DS, I really wanted that one!!
Why no first-party games? Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8, etc.
@cmk8 I've looked up the controls and looks like both sticks are needed. BUT, you should contact the guys at SpecialEffect. This is literally what they specialise in and could help you out with lots of games. Really lovely ppl too. If you're at any major games expo in the UK, they are likely to have a stand. Go see what they do and have a chat
@cmk8 Sorry, had to go check if giving you link was against the rules. https://www.specialeffect.org.uk/
Pode is also 50% off!!! https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Pode-1389790.html
@Dakka-Dakka - thanks (and thanks @matdub too). Have purchased and looking forward to playing after I’ve finished Astral Chain
Guys wtf, how could you not mention Bastion and Transistor? Not only are they 80% off, they're an absolute steal at the base price already! Holy moly.
@Ooccoo_Jr Agreed, such a great game and I can't wait for Silksong. At full price it's still a good deal so at this price its got to be top of the list for those that don't already own it
It stings every time I need a sale on Diablo III. Bought it at full price at release. Awesome game. It's a steal to get it at any discount.
Transistor at €3,35 is worth every cent.
Also a great time to play Valkyria Chronicles and/or Valkyria Chronicles 4 if you haven't. A great sale over all.
@KnightsTemplar Not every game needs to hold your hand you know. The sense of isolation and disorientation is entirely deliberate and in keeping with the atmosphere of the game. Just fully explore the map and you'll be fine. There is no need to discover every secret on a first playthrough.
@Miyamotosan ff7 is so good hope you enjoy if you havnt played yet. Finished it a few times and been years so it's due another play
Wow this is a great sale, August and September have absolutely killed me lol.
@ilikeike Canada too. For some reason Playstation and Xbox are even on deals globally but Nintendo constantly neglects sales in North America
@DrJamba thanks very much that's very kind - I'll be sure to take a look!
@earthinheritor a fair few of these were on sale in the US store last week or a few weeks back, including the Sonic games and even Sonic Forces which isn’t on sale in the UK.
It seems the US has split the sales up and the UK bunches them together
@rjejr It is unbelievable that Nintendo itself doesn't include any game on a huge Switch sale when Microsoft and Sony usually include their greatest hits. I always wonder why Nintendo is so stingy, I hate that.
@BlueOcean I think you hit the nail on the head. Switch, now 2 1/2 years old, still doesn't have a greatest hits line AFAIK.
But it should at least put some games on sale for a week every once in awhile even if it doesn't drop the MSRP. 1 2 Switch, ARMS, Splatoon 2, even BotW. 2 year old games, put'em on sale for $10 off. If nothing else it gives them some exposure. And it's digital so it doesn't really cost them anything at this point. Splatoon 2cmay still be going strong but who is even remembering Arms is a thing, much less thinking of buying it. Pokémon Virtual Fighter Deluxe. (it's early, not awake). There are games.
But no. Maybe once at E3, once at BF, that's it.
At this point I honestly think it's more their loss than ours, they could be making money, but their weirdly wired brains only see it as losing money, it's ridiculous.
@rjejr Yesterday I bought my own Switch and I was going to get just Super Mario Odyssey (THE Switch game for Wii U owners) but I got a deal and bought Mario Kart 8 DX too (I have it on Wii U). I had only considered one game because Nintendo's games are so expensive and only because I found a deal made by a retailer I considered getting more. I also got Crash Team Racing because it's quite cheap on the eShop now. In short, I buy fewer Nintendo's games because of the price. Mario Kart 8 DX is a Wii U port, over two years old now, of a 2014 game. Link's Awakening is a remake but it's overpriced too and so on. At the end of the day, Nintendo is losing money being so stingy.
If you don't already have Stardew Valley and Wargroove - this is your chance to correct you life choices.
@ilikeike
Didnt you guys get nba for that low price?
Went a bit mental and grabbed I, Zombie, Sky Force Reloaded, Gorogoa, Kingdom Newlands Two Crowns, Castlestorm... Plus I just had to grab Assassins Creed 3, the ex-vita owner in me was screaming out to have both AC3 & AC Liberation at proper console quality for less that £18!
A £44 splurge for 6 games not bad.
I got Dandara. Saw a physical copy of Crash Team Racing for £22 on Switch but will go for the PS4 version instead.
Only picked up FF IX.
Picked up Bastion, Transistor and Wargroove. Timing could be better just before Witcher 3, LM3 and Pokemon.
I already own all the essentials because....they're essential smh
@BarefootBowser I got it for my new Switch Lite Yellow. I've read/watched a few SF pros and others in forums online claiming the d-pad is a disaster. Maybe some out there are defective because I'd like to say it's brilliant. I'm no SF expert but I've been pulling off Ken's fireballs more consistently than ever before. The main view by others is that the d-pad sits too low – so you have to press your thumbs deep into the plastic for it to register diagonals. There is even someone who shows LtTP playing where he can't get link to go diagonally. These must be defects because mine is perfect and all diagonals work fine and without having to press too hard.
I hated the d-pads on the new (maybe old) 3DSs - some praised it but to me it was a nasty, clicky p.o.s. and it did sit too low. This new d-pad is not like that – it's closer to the original GBA d-pad or a mini version of the SNES d-pad. It is small - but for me, it's as prefect as a small d-pad can be, and I see myself wanting to spend my SF 30th Collection time exclusively on the go, on the Lite.
I love it – I was very dismissive of the Lite in general to begin with but now it's definitely my primary Switch going forward. I do wish it had HD rumble or an optional dock cable available – but even without those this is the nicest, most comfortable handheld I've owed (except the Vita Slim in some small areas due to it's rounded shape). It truly is the Gameboy Advance for this generation, and the weight is perfect too – could it be lighter? Maybe, but it's light enough that I don't care for it being any lighter. It is heaver that the Vita Slim – but hand in hand I can barely tell.
Unlike the OG Switch which I always said was a bit too heavy for long portable play sessions, this feels like I have a 'Ultimate Gameboy' in my hands. 'Nintendo, I get it now!'
I finished off a month of excessive spending on video games with an eleventh hour purchase of Cuphead. I don't know when I'm going to get round to playing them all... but I'm glad I've got them.
Def recommend getting Hollow Knight if you haven’t already.
Though I’m currently preferring Ori and the Blind Forest which is pretty similar
Party golf and battery jam were great games. Never thought switch would surpass steam with sales. Sale may have just ended though. One strike is golden too.
@BarefootBowser Yeah - I don't think it's easy to understand what is so well crafted about the Lite without holding and playing the thing.
If Nintendo released all their main classics on Switch/Lite via NSO eventually, and port remaining important WiiU stuff like Super Mario 3D World and Starfox Zero with decent controls over, I believe I could be a one machine gamer!
Just picked up 8 games for like £40! This was with my £2 woth of gold points.
Bastion
Transistor
Snake Pass
Final Fantasy IX (been too long)
Layers of Fear
Golf Story
Warlocks God Slayers
Pan-pan
That averages out to something like £5 a game. A lot to do, now, though.
Bought Inside after reading that it was Kojima's favorite game of the last 5 years
This is the morning where I look back at the list of games on sale and say to myself "I really should have bought that before the sale finished"
Looking forward to the next one.
@Bankaj 89p in Russia. I also got Transistor for £1.49 and Hellblade for £11.89 from the South African eShops
@SilentHunter382 it is a great game and I played it when released..and 7 is awesome to👍enjoy
If you haven't played Bastion yet, then you haven't played it.
@Scottwood101 thanks for the heads up! I bought Bastion, but I first need to finish SW - Jedi Outcast II before I can get to it.
I got Mario + Rabbids Gold Edition.
