Nintendo's Labo kits are an ingenious showcase of the company's imagination and the versatility of the Switch, and we've had a good time with each of the four kits currently available. The cardboard might not have years' worth of longevity, but the novel experiences they offer make them more than worth the asking price, if you ask us - especially if you've got kids.
If the RRP is a little spicy for your tastes, though, UK online retailer Very is currently selling three of the four kits (not the VR one, unfortunately) for just under £11 each - a huge discount. For that sort of money, it's not such an issue if the cardboard doesn't make it through the holiday season after granddad accidentally sits on them, so these might be worth snapping up in time for Christmas:

Delivery within the UK is free from Very with orders over £25, so you'll need to buy all three to avoid paying postage and packing (or find something else in the store to get you to that £25 line). Regardless, this is a very tasty deal if you've been wondering about Labo but put off by the price.

Labo VR is the only kit I think i'd put to any good use. Especially if Nintendo feels like adding in more VR support for existing games. I can even see Metroid Prime 4 getting an option for Labo VR support.
Got excited, saw no VR, was disappointed...
I don't really have room to keep any of the other kits once assembled.
So was this a failure?
I think I paid about $28 each for the variety and vehicle kits. Still haven't built the vehicle kit after 6 months. The robot doesn't interest me until Death Stranding gets ported, robot Labo was designed with that game in mind.
Still waiting on a VR sale. I think the starter kit is worth $40, I just don't' buy things unless they are on sale, it's in my DNA.
Target has a few in stock, I imagine they'll be on clearance for $14.18 after the holidays.
this was a waste of dev time/ resources
@jockmahon ...and cardboard
So it didn't go well for Labo, but trying new things and being creative is what makes Nintendo special. I managed to pick up a couple of sets cheap for Christmas, and I'm sure that we'll have a lot of fun with them!
Don't send outside uk
I thought it was a minor success. I would have loved to see the games more fleshed out. The robot kit is cool but after we built it and played the game for an hour or two it went in the basement and never came back up.
I saw them for €25 in Smyths yesterday and came close to buying them but then I thought to myself "Am I buying to play them or am I buying them cause they are cheap". I went with the latter cause the more I thought about it the more I know it would be used a few times then put away.
It would have been nice if the VR kits were also on sale for people who wanted to have a stepping stone for VR (I wouldn't get it myself as I already own an Oculus Rift S).
Fire Sale #2. Just give it away at this point. A Massive waste of resources.
And this is Nintendo that is known for not having their stuff super discounted at retail even after years - just shows what a fiasco this was.
Yeah as figured there has been no more support for these things besides maybe the VR having something here and there. Nintendo loves to do random stuff like this and not support it fully enough.
I was too late. All out of stock.

Woukd have tried the robot ones for that price! But unfortunately with no joycons this, ringfit and mario party are off the table for me.
I bought the variety kit for my 5 yr old daughter at Christmas, I cant wait to give it a try. I paid 20 quid off amazon though on black Friday.
Conclusion: labo was not an hit.
Also, not playable on Switch Lite.
Wish this had been around when my kids were little, such a fun introduction to computing.
I kinda wish these weren't such a failure since I just want to see what other stuff they could do with labo, but eh it was inevitable anyway
Out of stock all gone
I already bought the VR one, last year. Played Zelda, Mario, and Captain Toad, with it ready too. As well as the games that came with it. I want to get the kit with the camera, and, since my nephew loves to go fishing, I also want to get the kit with the fishing rod too. Piano and motorcycle handlebar ones might be fun to check out too. But the VR one, with the Blaster, is fun tho. And always a big hit at parties too.
@farmer_humpf Right on. It wouldn't be the Nintendo we know and love without their weird and wonderful experimentation. They are not immune, however, to Sturgeons Law: ”ninety percent of everything is crap"
My youngest and I had one great day building and another playing with the vehicle labo. The biggest disappoint was the lag when using it play Mario kart
VR is the only one worth getting.
Pretty nice, I have the variety, if I was in the UK, I'd consider the vehicle one (or if other VR addons were in, I'd go for the drawing one)
A steal or garbage in a month?
@tendonerd please recycle
@sixrings recycling just means less tree farms and more CO2 from shipping it in trucks and boats to the countries that want to buy it. Cardboard is also bio degradable.
I would enthusiastically recommend Labo to anyone with younger kids, me and my son (6yo) has a blast with the variety pack last Christmas and I paid AUD50 for it. He still plays with it occasionally (between long stretches of Breath of the Wild that he still adores 18 months after we got it).
@SachmoJoe I agree with you entirely. I’ve had fun making and playing vehicle and VR kits with my kids. Don’t buy these for the games, buy them instead for the hours of making together with young children. I don’t regret buying kits 3&4 at full RRP. £10 is a steal.
