Kirby Star Allies developer HAL Laboratory has confirmed that today's newly-introduced Dream Friends will be the final new additions to the game.
Today sees the recently-revealed Wave 3 update arrive in the super-cute platformer, adding more content for the low price of nothing. If you've missed the news recently, we've been treated to glimpses of the latest Dream Friends Magolor, Taranza and Susie, the moves made available thanks to the Three-Mage Sisters, and the creepy-looking challenge mode in individual trailers, all of which is included in this free update.
It's been a great run for Kirby Star Allies, with new, free content being added regularly ever since the game launched back in March, but a new blog post from HAL Laboratory confirms that this is the end for new material - as well as thanking players for their continued support. The game's director, Shinya Kumazaki, shared this image of the team celebrating the completion of its development.

Have you been regularly playing Kirby Star Allies since launch? Will you miss the inclusion of regular updates going forward? Feel free to share your thoughts down below in the comments.

Say what you want about the ease of difficulty in this game, but nobody can deny it’s loaded with charm and nostalgia.
Kudos on them for adding all the content they have for free. Odyssey, Kirby, Aces have all gotten free stuff.
It’s nice to see developers still having fun. Now for a well earned holiday!
I've loved these updates, they added so much fanservice and replayability to the game, even if the base adventure was a bit too easy. I look forward to Kirby's next game.
I need to get this still
Kirby will be too busy anyway, what with saving the Ninty Multiverse in Smash Bros.
Sad, but inevitable. It's been one heck of a ride, that's for sure.
That's a cute picture in that Twitter.
I'll miss the game when I'm done with the content.... But as one chapter closes another opens in the form of Ultimate!
I'm going to be hinest here. This game is phonneminal. The fanservice has been off the charts, and the main game is a really fun romp. I'll likely go for 100% for my first time ever when the last update comes out. The only issue I have with the game is really just how my boi Prince Fluff got the shaft. 2018 has really just been a great year for Kirby fans, because when one door closes, a smash bros sized door opens!
So, with all these abilities we have now, can we get a sequal to kirby fighters deluxe? C'mon Hal, make it happen!
@MysticGengar romp - gay or light-hearted recreational activity for diversion or amusement; Lol ok.
I`ll get it as soon as I find a decent priced physical version. This seems like a fun game to just relax.
@MattFox
Gay can also mean happy, just saying.
I’ll definitely check out the new update. I like the Susie character.
I wouldn't dare ask for more.
The updates have only added more and more charm to an already charmed filled game.
Happy with all we have gotten from the developers and I cannot wait to see what new ideas they implement in the next Kirby game.
Really solid game in my opinion, enjoyed all the free DLC.
This game was great! I hope they bring a bit more challenge back in the next Kirby game, but what was in this game, was still really good and very fun!
@HobbitGamer dont forget all the free extras for well over a year on splatoon 2
Awesome, really great free contents.
How many tries did it take them to get that pic?
Too bad it ends, but hey it was a heck of a ride!
@MysticGengar While I would have loved to play as Fluff, sadly neither of the spinoff titles got playable characters (only stuff like music and stone transformations).
@Almighty-Koz That’s right! (I’ve not play Splatoon so it didn’t pop in my head)
@HobbitGamer @Almighty-Koz
ARMS also got a lot of free updates (new fighters, stages, modes, etc.)
@MysticGengar That`s true. I was just pulling your leg, I have nothing against either happy or gay people lol.
@RushDawg geez is Zelda the only thing I paid for extra content in? 😂
@MattFox
I had a feeling. No hard feelings.
@MysticGengar Just watched a few of your vids on youtube. Keep up the good work, lads!
This game is so underrated in my opinion. I'm kinda sad to see it go, but it's still amazing.
@Yoshi_Kong Oh dear I really want to go all out with how this is by far this worst main kirby game in the series in every aspect except the playable characters themselves but i'll just say i disagree
anyways, it ended as it started. a mediocre game that pales in comparison to it's predecessors, masked with shallow fanservice and fancier graphics. expected more for a new home console kirby game and i was disappointed. good riddance.
At no point did I think a Kirby platformer would get the games-as-service treatment from Nintendo, but here we are..
The game still feels a bit light on content, but it's nice to see they've done so much to support it and given it a stronger postgame. I got Marx, so I'm happy.
N-no Mr. Star? HOW COULD THEY EXCLUDE MR. STAR?!
Jokes aside, it's a bummer they ignored the non-traditional platformers and spin-off games. Prince Fluff, Elline, Big Birdee, and maybe even Drawcia would've been rad.
@Krisi Gryll and Brobo atleast got their first 3D model in a long time as a stone formation. They were from the GB games
@Mew Super spicy, kinda make it look like the game killed your pupper.
@Ardisan Yeah, they were cool cameos at least.
Any by the way, while Brobo IS from a Game Boy game, Kirby's Block Ball, Gryll was actually the final boss of only the Super Famicom version of Kirby no Kirakira kids.
@RushDawg arms got shafted i think they made a mistake of releasing it when they did they should have held back till about now when nothing is releasing before black friday of note...and no i dont think lets go was of note since you can breeze through the game in a weekend no challange sorry the most challanging thing was oplaying that game with useless motion controls(they added NOTHING)
I hate to be the negative Nancy here, but maybw if the game released with all of that content, it wouldn't have been a 6/10. I felt no inclination to buy it then and I feel none to buy it now.
Wasn't it Nintendo themselves that said it's better to delay a game that release a bad one? Maybe they should have listened to themselves and released this one now.
@Ardisan killed my excitement for a new kirby game lol
@SmaggTheSmug Nintendo actually decided the wave update system for the game, not HAL. I guess since it was fine with Splatoon and ARMS they didnt see it as a problem for a not online game.
It didnt really bother me all that much and the game is in my top 5 now, but I can see this turning other people off.
Well, I'm off to play Kirby again until my next game comes in. And yeah, kinda of disappointed no Prince Fluff Dream Friend. Maybe because of the whole yarn thing? Still it would have been cool.
@MattFox
Thanks dude! Any support is good support if you ask me.
