Nintendo is gearing up for its Mario Day celebrations (10th March, or 'MAR 10') by offering discounts on a number of juicy titles featuring everyone's favourite moustachioed plumber. Unless you're a Luigi fan like us.
There are eight games up for grabs in total, ranging from sports games to platformers and everything in between. The discounts are available through the North American My Nintendo rewards system; as always, you can take advantage of these discounts by simply using the required Gold or Platinum My Nintendo Points listed below.
- [3DS] 30% off Mario Kart 7: 450 Platinum Points
- [3DS] 30% off Mario Sports Superstars: 90 Gold Points
- [3DS] 40% off Mario Golf: World Tour: 600 Platinum Points
- [3DS] 40% off Mario Tennis Open: 120 Gold Points
- [3DS] 40% off Paper Mario: Sticker Star: 120 Gold Points
- [Wii U / 3DS] 40% off Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars: 400 Platinum Points
- [Wii U] 40% off Mario Strikers Charged: 400 Platinum Points
- [Wii U] 30% off Super Mario 3D World: 300 Platinum Points
Interestingly, a 40% discount on Sparkle Snapshots 3D has also been included in the Mario Day celebration roundup (some Mario references are included in backgrounds and frames within the game, but it seems like a bit of a stretch to us). You can get the discount for 120 Platinum Points if you're interested.
On top of all of this, Nintendo is also offering a printable Mario Bingo game, printable game party invites, and gift card envelopes, perfect for anyone looking to host their own party or gathering on Mario Day itself. You can check them all out for yourself here.
Will you be celebrating Mario Day? Will you be playing some Sparkle Snapshots 3D to do just that? Let us know below.

Typical Nintendo, discounts on things everyone has or doesn't want. Too greedy to discount any new games.
Some great mynintendo rewards just absolute fantastic. If you haven’t played Mario kart 7 then please do
"Will you be celebrating Mario Day? "
If you own a Switch the answer is No.
I’d be all over Mario Golf if I was in NA.... finally something to spend my platinum coins on
I've got my eye on Sparkle Shots 3D. FINALLY!!!
I just don't get Nintendo's endgame with My Nintendo. If they don't see a desire to actually offer anything worthwhile and/or just don't see any value in it, the best thing to do is to just stop the program altogether
They should just focus on remembering us that the balance can be used to make digital purchases cheaper and call it a day.
I will celebrate Mario day ingesting lots of mushrooms.
30% off for a 8 years old game? No thank you. Nintendo discounts is the definition of the “joke”.
Why not? I don't have the cash, but who said I couldn't just play some older games?
Maybe a surprise 3D worrld port announcemnt or more mario maker 2 infor would be nice. Please!?
This sale would be great if I had a 3DS and didn't own all these games on Wii U.
@Anti-Matter Look, two articles in a week's time with something for you! Life is looking up
@JackEatsSparrows
Wow, Mario Day will be on next Sunday. 😃
@Zequio - Yep, that sums it up!
@UmbreonsPapa - My thoughts exactly. Thse sort of ‘discounts’ from Nintendo just put a cynical taste in my mouth. Better to not to have a discount at all and actually keep some respect from fans.
I assume this is an American only thing, given the date in the rest of the world is 10 MAR?
hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha
@AlienigenX Magic! 😉
If you don't have these 3DS and Wii U games yet then you obviously don't want them.
What an awesome celebration lol
I'm totally getting Mario Strikers Charged
NINTENDO - Nintendo Switch Has Been The Best-Selling Console In Japan For 12 Months In A Row
Also NINTENDO - Let's put a bunch of Mario games on sale, but not a single one of them on the Switch
@MysticGengar Oh man, aside from Wind Waker perhaps, Super Mario 3D World is the Wii U port I most want on Switch!
All the the ones on the list want I have lol.
"Will you be celebrating Mario Day?" Heck yeah, just look at my username
But yeah... these discounts are for games I own or don't really need. My Nintendo needs a serious makeover, give us some physical rewards!
@The_Pixel_King @MysticGengar Yes, I would love 3D World on Switch as well. Preferably a sequel but a port will do!
Not a single thing for their flagship console?
Why even have stuff for the Wii U? It is end of life!
I mean, I kind of get the frustration some people feel about no Switch discounts, but honestly, you can just use Gold Rewards points to get discounts anyway. Besides, Nintendo hasn't ever discounted its games until toward the middle or end of each system's life cycle. How is this anything new?
@Yogsoggoth Speak for yourself, I want that Striker's Charged discount.
I only need discounts on Switch games.
6 discounts for 3DS, 3 discounts for Wii U, none for Gretchen Wieners.
And where are the deals for Nintendo Online subscribers?
We’ve got a major problem here, dispatch. Yep, Nintendo discounted some things that some people don’t want again. We’re gonna need all the wahmbulances you can send us, ASAP.
Why is only North America getting the discounts lately? We want the ubisoft and these rewards too...
Umm Switch pls?
I have a Nintendo Switch and after Two Years, the myNintendo Rewards program only gives discounts to the WiiU and 3DS.
TWO YEARS
Looks like switch owners aren't celebrating Mario day.
I can still remember the Nintendo rep telling me at work that MyNintendo was really going to take off once the Switch hit the scene.
Here we are two years later and we still can't get any themes beyond black or white, while discounts are for games on a handheld in its last years and a console that's been dead for two years.
I guess it would kill the to give us Switch discounts. And I still cannot wrap my head around paying for a discount.
Let's not go there please - Octane
I wish they would port Mario 3D World to the Switch.
@JackEatsSparrows
....and of course it's for systems no one cares about anymore.
Sweet.. the newest game is on here is like 6 years old and they're all for systems that are basically not even supported anymore
@nintendork64 That isn't true, Mario Odyssey was on sale in December and I bought Splatoon 2 on sale in January, they've had a few decent discounts on the eShop recently. Mario Day unfortunately isn't part of that, seems like it's just a My Nintendo thing.
@Paddle1 OH yeah you're right. I forgot about that. Still, it's a very rare occurrence.
Nintendo do realise that their current console is called the Switch don't they?
I cannot wait to see what Nintendo has on Mario sale for Switch, you know their latest console.
Still waiting for Mario rabbids season pass sale for vanilla owners. Ubisoft and Nintendo have the gold edition on sale all the time, but never the season pass.
@teamdave2002 So wanting Nintendo to get with the times and provide some discounts on their newest hardware is ungrateful?
People like you are why services don't improve because you're always trying to drown out/patronize those who feel the need to speak up.
I'll be celebrating, by playing Mario games, as I normally do, anyway. Arcade Archives: Donkey Kong on Switch. Maybe also one of the Super Mario Bros. games on Nes, and/or Super Mario World on WU VC.
I love how everyone's complaining about the lack of Switch rewards while I'm here enjoying the cool 3DS themes they give out.
How about a digital or physical version of super Mario 3d world on the Switch? Now that would be cool.
What's with all of these sales on the previous gen systems? This is just bizarre. Two years into the PS4's lifetime that thing had sales on PS4 games, not just a bunch of links to the PS3 store. By all means, have 3DS and Wii U sales but at least put a few titles on sale for the Switch too.
@AlienigenX edgelord is edgelord because ingestion of halucinogenics is edgy.
