Re: Review: Yooka-Laylee (Switch eShop)

@the8thark Now that I've gotten used to the game's flow, I find that I like it more the more I play it! It's a nice game with the classic Rare feel. Some things might use a bit more polish but oh well. I'm not too far into the game yet though.

Re: Review: Yooka-Laylee (Switch eShop)

Moshugan

I've played it for a couple of hours now.
It feels fine, and it seems like I'll be enjoying playing it through to the end, if not 100% completing it.

But you can definitely tell what's "wrong" with it from the get go.
The lack of basic 3D platformer moves like wall jumping and the ability grab ledges is weirding me out big time. Then there's the unlockable moves without which you can't do many things! I hated that even a basic move like ground pound has to be earned. Then there are puzzles littered everywhere that require a certain move and it doesn't even hint which one. Sometimes it's gracious enough to inform you that you don't have the necessary one yet, but other times you have to figure that out for yourself, and get frustrated in the process. And no hint on what level to purchase them.

Re: Reminder: Join Us for The Game Awards - Here's Hoping for Nintendo Wins and Reveals!

Moshugan

Nintendo is sure to rake up some trophies! It's been a great year.

My optimistic hopes for the premieres are:
Some cool third party multiplatform stuff also coming to Switch (maybe even From Software); An extended look into Death Stranding; Gameplay of Beyond Good And Evil 2; Something from Nintendo for 2018 (maybe even from Retro Studios! Or that Metroid Prime 4); The BotW DLC trailer.

I get you! I was constantly feeling disappointed how limited the movement in other games felt after getting to climb anything, fly with the paraglider and shield surf anywhere in Zelda!

But other games, like Xenoblade 2, have other great qualities and gameplay mechanics that Zelda has no idea of having. For example X2 has an amazing story and deep RPG mechanics.
I've been playing Skyrim, and how ever clumsy it feels, there's just so much content in it that I could get lost for hours in that game.

Not to talk about completely different genres. Splatoon and Mario Odyssey offer completely different challenges and stimulation compared to BotW.

The later Mario RPG's have been pretty great, but an actually Square-Enix made RPG with a multi-character party and original characters would be fantastic!

While Hitman dev IO Interactive has left Square Enix, the Square Enix Holdings still seems to have publishing rights to a whole bunch of games like Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Thief, Nier and Life Is Strange. I hope we'll see some of those franchises.

Re: Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production To 25 To 30 Million Units A Year

Moshugan

This is crazy yo! It could be just PR talk to hype up the product. I bet Nintendo isn't officially going to say anything about it until after the Holiday markets have come and gone.

@Roarsome #4 I agree. This better result in price drops! I hope accessory prices drop too. The Pro Controller and Joy-Con prices are still ridiculous.

@dystome #11 Good point! Good availability won't do them any bad, provided that all the bundles are desirable. @Jimgamer8 #10 The Neon Joy-Con bundle is a good example of something that should be more of a niche version than a shelf filler.

@dew12333 #31 The article is written like the info is coming straight from Nintendo. But you're right, this is not an official statement by Nintendo or its boss Kimishima.

Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Mario Game?

Moshugan

The truth is, all of the Mario platformers are still highly playable!

I fully anticipated World to take the 2D crown and SMB. 3 to be second place. I think the first SMB. should have the third place simply because of the purity of its platforming experience.

I'm pretty surprised with the 3D results! I thought the first Galaxy should be even higher rated, since it's so well made, offering a masterful blend of freedom of movement and tight focused platforming. Also 3D World should be more appreciated. It really is a mighty great package of platforming bliss.

Granted, everyone is still excited about Odyssey so I can understand why it's so highly voted (and I haven't played Odyssey too much yet, so I can't say if it really is that great or not).

Re: Video: 11 Reviews for Super Mario Odyssey that Are So Bad They're Good

Moshugan

The main complaint about Odyssey seems to be the difficulty. I just played 46 stars worth of Super Mario 64. It's not the most difficult game either, and most stars are super fast to get. They're clearly trying to go for a similar feel ~

3D World and even the Galaxy games might offer tighter platforming action compared to 64 and Odyssey, thanks to their more linear structure, but it's refreshing to have another open-ended game where you can just rummage around and do stuff at your own pace.

Re: Reggie on GameCube Controller Support on the Switch

Moshugan

Either the programmers who worked on the update knew, and it was a surprise only to the management, or it was unintentional byproduct of allowing other D-Input controllers to work as well!

Does anyone have old pre-xbox PC-controllers laying around to try?

Re: Retail Version of DOOM on Switch Will Need a Download for Online Multiplayer

Moshugan

A shame about losing the editor. Otherwise breaking up the online stuff to a separate download makes sense. It's requires internet anyways. The problem of course is the woefully small amount of internal memory in the Switch.

I really hope they don't charge the full $60 or $70 for the game. $40 would be awesome. Skyrim shouldn't be higher than that either. Wolfenstein I can see going for as high as $70.
