Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Ditch Physical Media With A 'Switch Lite?'

Moshugan

I guess it’s feasible, and it could go well, but they really need to include a larger internal memory or bundle it up with an SD card.

”Do we really get that much for our money when it comes to physical games these days?”

No, but physical retail copies can often be found cheaper than the same game on the eShop! A digital-only console wouldn’t be an attractive choice to those who already have a decent physical collection.

Re: Feature: Reggie's Video Highlights From 15 Years At The Top Of Nintendo

Moshugan

Reggie leaving feels like the last nail in the coffin for the quirky style of the Iwata-era PR. Granted, we didn't see much of Reggie during the current Switch-era, but I'm still gonna miss all the whimsical skits that Iwata, the Treehouse and NoA used to do more.
Koizumi feels like a no-nonsense business daddy compared to the goofy antics Iwata, Miyamoto and the NoA used to pull.

Re: Nintendo Download: Festive Offers (Europe)

Moshugan

There's so much clutter in the Switch eShop that it's easy to miss the gems. Like others pointed out Crypt of the Necrodancer should be an instant get for that price (€3.99/£3.59, -80%). Nine Parchments is very fun and has a great price as well (€5.99/£5.39, -70%).

I haven't played these, but I'm tempted to get Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King and Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle, even though they're not insanely cheap.

Re: The Dream's Over Folks, Nintendo Confirms There Are "No Plans" For Zelda: Skyward Sword On Switch

Moshugan

@Euler #42 "Also, you guys really thought the Switch's rudimentary motion controls could emulate the Wii Motion Plus?"

I believe you are wrong. I would need to find technical sources to prove it, but I'm almost certain that the motion control tech in the Switch controllers is practically identical to what's in the Wii U GamePad, and that was already a bit more advanced than the Wii MotionPlus tech.

The only weakness that the Joy-Con have against the Wiimotes is the lack of infrared aiming and centering. But since Skyward Sword didn't use the IR sensor anyway in-game, the likely eventual Switch version wouldn't suffer in any significant way.

Re: Dark Souls: Remastered Switch Update Fixes Crashes And Improves Animations

Moshugan

I really wish they'd fix the audio. It shouldn't be that hard.

Anyhoo, I really enjoyed playing Dark Souls on the Switch. No performance issues, apart from some laggy invasions. It's so nice on the small screen and the Joy-Con are surprisingly adequate for it!

This is the first time I actually finished the game! LOL, playing the game put me into a sort of a frenzy and I took on a crazy project to marathon through the whole Soulsborne series. I immediately proceeded to play and finish Demon's Souls on PS3 (which I never played before), and now I'm going through Dark Souls 2 on PC (which I have previously finished, except this time I also have the DLC to complete (Btw, I'm playing it on Steam Big Picture Mode with a Switch Pro Controller)). The plan is to eventually move this Tour de Souls to Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne (both of which I haven't played).

Re: The Switch Version Of Dragon Quest XI Has A Special Name

Moshugan

It's good that they're taking the effort to make a "special" version for the Switch, instead doing a straight port of the UE4 version which might've ended up having a sub-par resolution and framerate.
I'm assuming they're still using UE4, but customizing the assets so they're optimized for the lesser horsepower.

Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Not Excited About Playing NES Games On The Nintendo Switch

Moshugan

I would actually be quite fond of a subscription based service that offered access to countless retro titles, instead of paying $5 to $20 for individual games, but I just can't get excited over mere NES games. And the online features don't make them much more appealing, although online play could be huge for certain titles.

Don't get me wrong. I will play many of the NES titles on offer and enjoy doing that, but they really need to start bringing SNES games and adding other platforms with a relatively quick succession. They need to make this subscription based Virtual Collection (see what I did there) its own thing, instead of just a small bonus for those who bother to pay for the NS Online.

Re: Guide: How To Get Nintendo Switch Online For Less Than $5 Per Year

Moshugan

@Galenmereth "Pretty sure this breaks Nintendo's TOS"

Well, let's see if they update them when the service launches, but I didn't see any mention of limitations about which Accounts belonging to who can be in a Family Group or utilize the Family Membership in any of the Terms of Use or End User License Agreements that I could find.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

Moshugan

@Nater "I already did that from the get go. When we got the 2nd Switch though, I didn't understand that is how it worked."

Oh, okay. What you should do now is to delete the Child Accounts from your wife's Family Group, and then add your wife's account to your account's Family Group. So that there's ONE account for each person, and every account is in ONE Family Group (with you or your wife being the admin). All of you need to be in the same Family Group in order for you to be able to use the one Family Membership online subscription.

"isn't the eShop ALREADY DOING ONLINE AUTHENTICATION to purchase/re-download the game"

Yeah, sure, for downloads. But we're talking about playing on the console when it's already downloaded. If there was no check-up, then you could start the same game with the same N Account on two consoles at the same time if they both were offline.

"Yeah, a big hassle. Almost to the point where I was going to return the 2nd Switch."

Can you tell me what the process is to log off from one console to be able to use the same account on another console? I've only used a single Nintendo Account on one Switch, so I don't know how it works.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

Moshugan

@Nater I don't know what you mean by "Member Nickname" and "Member Sign-In ID". You should make individual accounts for each of your kids through https://accounts.nintendo.com/family and assign them Child Accounts and then make individual user profiles on the Switch consoles and link the proper Child Accounts to them. I don't get what the problem is with that?

Nope. Couldn't just sign into my Nintendo Account on the 2nd Switch without first logging it off the first Switch. What's the point of the \"Family Member\" profiles if you have to change over the ENTIRE account?\"

EDIT: Oh, I just realized that one kid will play a certain game on one console and then go on to play another game on a different console, and that's when they would have to log out on the first and log in on the second, and that's the hassle?

https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Nintendo-Switch/Usage/Linking-a-User-to-a-Nintendo-Account/Child-Account/Child-Account-1199100.html

\"Also, yeah, on digital games, I don't like the idea of having to buy games twice just because one kid who wants to play might have the other switch. Buy it once = one instance open. I'm not asking to buy it once and have it playable on BOTH consoles simultaneously.\"

Unfortunately that will never change. Enabling what you want would require online authentication every time you want to start a game, or it would enable people to use one account between multiple users simultaneously provided they play offline.

I would stick to physical cartridges for the ease of using them on multiple systems. Too bad a lot of family friendly indies are only on the eShop though. ;p About the cloud saves, I do believe it would work serviceably if you just get used to logging on and off between consoles.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

Moshugan

@Nater Making a Nintendo Account is free, as you should know, so why would you want to use one account on multiple Switches, especially if multiple people are using them? Each player should have their own Nintendo Accounts.

Regarding online, you can make a Family Group at https://accounts.nintendo.com/family and invite up to 7 other Nintendo Accounts into it, in addition to your own account.
Then you can buy a Family Membership with the account that you used to make the Family Group, that is one payment and all of those 8 different accounts included in the Family Group will get the Nintendo Online service and presumably their own space for cloud saves.

EDIT: Oh, do you mean that you want to buy a game from the eShop once and have it playable on multiple systems?

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

Moshugan

@NintyNate If you want to play online games, then you need the service. But if you don't, then I guess there's little reason to subscribe. I guess we'll know the details of the cloud saves after the Direct. I bet they will keep your saves for a set period of time after your subscription ends (a year maybe).

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

Moshugan

"There's also a family membership option that provides Nintendo Switch Online to up to eight Switches for £31.49 / $34.99 per year. That's less than £5 / $5 per user if eight people are signed up.

What isn't clear, is what the restrictions are. We don't know whether you all have to live under the same address, have the same surname, or anything like that. It would be pretty sweet if you and seven friends could team up and get the family account super cheap."

This was my plan. At least you can form a Family Group between unrelated friends and accounts at the moment. There's no restrictions mentioned. You just send invites at https://accounts.nintendo.com/family to e-mail addresses that are used to register Nintendo Accounts and that's that.

Re: Video: What Can We Hope for and Expect from the Delayed Nintendo Direct?

Moshugan

It would certainly be unfortunate if everything strictly new was more or less revealed already. But I think that's not likely with the planned 35 minutes runtime.

I guess everyone's hoping for at least one big new First Party title to be shown (That excludes Yoshi) and/or a big-like Third Party game for the Switch. I'm still banking on either Pikmin 4 or Animal Crossing. But I really wanna see that Star Fox Grand Prix if it was real to begin with, and I hope it'll be good. It might be one of the games they use to sell/show the online service.

Yoshi will surely get details and new gameplay footage. Maybe they'll even show a snippet of Bayonetta 3. Then of course details on upcoming games for this year that we already know about.

I suspect 3DS will get some kind of a remake or some new low budget titles.
