Re: Feature: Nintendo Hardware Refreshes Through The Ages

Moshugan

Game Boy Advance SP is my all time favorite, because it's form factor is just so handy. It's a tasty little package of convenient portable gaming!

Both the DS Lite and New 3DS feel like what the original consoles should have been! The New 3DS (not the XL) is especially sweet, as it keeps the console relatively small while offering noticeably larger screens than the original 3DS. Its 3D effect is also actually usable compared to the original and the colored buttons are cute.

Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Switch OLED Announcement Leave The Rumoured Switch Pro?

Moshugan

I think one of these two scenarios are the most likely:

1) There were two models in the works at the same time to begin with, the OLED Model and an upcoming successor "Switch 2", and leakers or reporters simply confused the two as one and the same.

2) Nintendo did mean to release a "Switch Pro", but abandoned the idea due to prevailing circumstances, and released the OLED Model to tide the market over until they were ready to release either a "Switch Pro" or "Switch 2".

If they had to course correct and shift the focus from an incremental upgrade to a successor, then it will likely still be a couple of years until a "Switch 2" is ready to rock.

Re: Video: Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Switch Vs. GBA Comparison

Moshugan

The new graphics look good but lack a lot of personality. The new cartoon animations are fantastic!

But let's face it: Nintendo only chose to use 3D graphics because they wanted to slap a $60 price tag on the game. If they had chosen to do the remake with upgraded higher resolution pixel art then the "value perception" wouldn't have allowed the high price. But even the current 3D graphics don't look like anything special, so it shouldn't have been higher than $30 anyway.

Re: Doug Bowser Responds To Reports About "Upgraded Switch Replacement" (Again)

Moshugan

Now you might be justified in thinking that it doesn't really matter when the next Nintendo console comes or when Nintendo announces it. It comes when it comes and we'll know when Nintendo wants to tell us. No need to spend energy speculating about it, right?

It may be... except if you're someone who doesn't own a Switch and you're thinking carefully about how to spend your hard-earned cash, and you're trying to figure out whether to shell out the dough for the current Switch, or wait just a few more months for the upgraded/next-gen iteration.

It's always the same story: Nintendo reveals the next iteration late and people who just bought the old version are gonna be pissed. Same happened with the New 3DS. And that is why Nintendo won't confirm it until they're closer to the launch, because they don't want for the current Switch sales to slow too much.

Re: Zelda: BOTW Sequel Might Give Off Majora's Mask Vibes, But It Is "Its Own Game"

Moshugan

@MrGrim "Yes, but how many Koroks are there this time?"

I hope there's an infinite amount of procedurally generated Koroks... x)

@Henmii "Sooo there won't be radio-silence untill next years E3? Does that mean the game arrives early 2021/march 2021?! I hope so!"

Hold your horses! Trinen said they'll be showing stuff "over the coming months to the next year or so" which could mean that the game is a year away.

Re: Metroid 5 Is Coming To Switch As Metroid Dread, And It's 2D

Moshugan

@Classic603 "Why are so many people complaining about the price? It's a brand new mainline IP Switch game, not some shovelware no-name."

I agree! You can take issue with smaller games/remakes like the new WarioWare, Advance Wars and Mario Party costing 50-60€, but a game like this deserves to be full price.

Re: Metroid 5 Is Coming To Switch As Metroid Dread, And It's 2D

Moshugan

@stinky_t "So on Treehouse Sakamoto said this will "Mark the end of the story arc" for metroids 1-4. Future metroids won't have metroids?"

He also said that people would be wondering what this could mean while playing the game! Such a tease.
I don't know what he mean, but I think it need not necessarily mean that future Metroid's don't feature metroids.

Re: New Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Footage Shown, Aiming For A 2022 Switch Release

Moshugan

@LXP8 I guess you kinda have a point, but I would offer a different perspective: The sky isn't the gimmick, but rather the gimmick was the structure of the game. Instead of an interconnected or somewhat open world of the past titles, there were these separated section on earth which you entered to via a hub world which was the sky.

And BotW2 differs from that in that there are no separated sections and it's all open.

Re: Poll: How Hyped Are You For Nintendo's E3 Direct?

Moshugan

You bet I'm hyped! Especially after they hype it up themselves by sending those party packs to be used in case of "extreme excitement"! I'm fully anticipating something substantial of BotW2 and maybe even Metroid Prime 4. But I still think we're not going to see the "Switch Pro" in this Direct.

Re: Random: What If Nintendo Just Released A Basic Switch XL?

Moshugan

@iuli Come on, don't be like that! You did have a good point that IF they increased the screen resolution that it might not be worth it because it would require more processing power.
But I wanted to ease your mind that they most probably will not increase the resolution even if they put in a bigger screen.

Re: Random: What If Nintendo Just Released A Basic Switch XL?

Moshugan

@iuli No, a larger screen wouldn't require more processing power, because the resolution would still be the same 720p. So actually the pixel density would be less. A larger screen would only drain the battery faster, depending on the display tech. All of this was talked about when there were reports of 7 inch OLED screens coming to the possible Switch revision.

@Peteykins Ah, you didn't anger me, I was merely annoyed that it seemed to me that you commented without bothering to read the article first. Because you just wrote "larger Switch" and not "Switch with a larger screen".

Re: Soapbox: Without A Dedicated Handheld Division, Is Nintendo Less Weird?

Moshugan

We all hoped that having a single Nintendo platform would have meant that the one console would get more games, since they don't have to divide their resources between home and handheld devices. But has that really happened? And is there still an even balance between budget and full price titles?

I would like to ask NintendoLife to do some research and compare Nintendo's software output between generations.

Re: Feature: Our Predictions For Nintendo's E3 2021 Direct

Moshugan

Nintendo has a lot of hot games and hardware cooking, and they have a lot more beloved franchises to tap into just waiting for their big Switch title, but somehow I'm feeling really pessimistic about getting to see any new huge First Party titles at E3.
Well, a bit over nine days to go until we find out...

Re: Switch Pro Rumours Intensify As New Retailer Listing Appears Online

Moshugan

It's gotta be happening, but it won't meet every expectation set for it!
It might have upscaled 4K output, put it will not be able to render games in 4K resolutions in general. I dearly hope it would have DLSS tech, because that would simply be the best route for low powered mobile gaming, but I'm not sure if it's even possible on a mobile chipset. On the worst scenario it's just a minor revision with a bigger screen.

Re: Soapbox: How Resident Evil 4 Taught Me To Stop Hoarding And Love The Grenades

Moshugan

This article is kinda ironic, since the RE games at least before RE4 have been notorious for their lack of inventory space and for the low number of bullets it affords the player. You really do need to save the ammo or healing herbs for a rainy day. It almost becomes a puzzle game where you need to avoid enemy encounters instead of killing everything. RE4 on the other hand seems like dumb but fun action schlock!

I've been guilty of hoarding potions and other miscellanneous items in the past, but I've since learned that the game will show you whether it's generous with usable items or not. It's generally a good rule that you'll have a better time if you use what the game gives you!

Re: Former Metroid Prime Lead Designer Targeted With Abusive Messages

Moshugan

I don't get it, what does harassing some ex-dev accomplish? Some people are pathetic for getting butthurt over the opinions of some guy and for getting satisfaction over being mean to people without any reason.

@TheJGG You can be a fan of something without being part of a "community". You're an individual. No need to take on collective guilt over the actions of few!
